Poppy Liwanag really is The Character Ever. She's stunningly un self-aware and obnoxiously arrogant, but riddled with insecurities and self-esteem issues. She is equal parts adorable and horrific. Her strongest relationship is with someone she often can't stand and yet is the only one who really gets her. She is incredibly uncool and has absolutely Zero social skills, and she can't tell or understand jokes for the life of her, but she is capable of being wily enough to play coworkers she knows well against each other in order to get what she wants. She does not desire or seek friendship and frequently alienates everyone around her, but she is devastatingly lonely. She is a nightmare of a coworker and a boss and often contributes to the toxicity of her workplace, but is also a workaholic to a crippling degree to the point that when she feels like her life is falling apart, all she can do to stave off her feelings of misery and self-doubt is put in insane hours of work to the point of neglecting her own wellbeing. I would hate to know her in real life but I would give my own life up for her. I am fucking obsessed with her.

mindblowing how a show can be so mid and still make me insane. poorly written poorly executed weak ass plot arcs and consequences focused on the wrong things and way too zoomed in on minute details that dont get satisfying payoffs ooc writing for like half the characters status quo never under threat for more than like 2 minutes of screen time throwing away the interesting plot lines and lingering way too long on ones that arent good or interesting. pregnancy And proposal with no birth or wedding. random ass statement about twitch streamers. alright. AND YET poppy liwanag has infested my mind like some sort of terrible affliction and i truly could not live any other way. its like the show doesnt even matter anymore and what im really watching is a terrible autistic aussie woman whos been stuck in a saw trap her whole life and the saw trap is the show and if she escapes she dies. does anyone fucking care him. does anyone gaf my cat

#no but on a serious note it’s actually very refreshing#she’s pretty but it’s not a character trait. she’s smart but she’s not humble about it.#she doesn’t diminish her talents because she’s POPPY FUCKING LI lead engineer at mq and she knows she’s smart! she knows she’s awesome!#she’s proud of it and she wants more! she knows she’s equal (or better) than ian and fights for her rights in the game instead of just —#—being the cool humble laidback hot token woman in stem who only exists to hook up w the main character and then solve some overly —#—complicated problem once and then stand back in the shadows while the male main character resumes his place at the top#like shes so fucking awkward and weird and real and i love her so much i love her SO MUCH#what an amazing character design#i love your work megan ganz

as a female engineering student i am so grateful to have representation like poppy li. too many “woman in stem” characters are, on top of being really smart, also really cool and really pretty but POPPY is a piece of shit, awkward as hell, egotistical little gremlin addicted to candy, power, and validation. she is the smartest person at mythic quest and also the weirdest person you’ve ever met. i love her so much

I very badly wanted Jo to have a hashtag feminism arc where she latched onto Poppy and acted as her assistant... the power would go to Poppy's head and Jo would slowly absorb pieces of Poppy's terrible personality and they would both get worse... yeah I would have liked that a lot I think :)
