#poor peach really can't catch a break

We've entered into the secon half of the series and an end to the torture is nowhere in sight. What is in sight however is gay shit so let's talk about it.

Let's get the biggest thing out of the way first. The show was very clearly asking us to draw a parallel between Home and Peach, and Phoom and Vicha. You know, actual, explicitly in gay love couple Phoom and Vicha.

Their story obviously resonates a lot for our boys. Here is Dr. Phoom, a man who - is kind of responsible for the death of the man he loved - had somewhat moved on with his life only to find out later that said man he loved had died because of him - is here now, even later still, to apologise for that to the man who died. If that's not something Home can relate to, I don't know what is. On the other side we have Vicha, who - was abandoned and left to die by the man he loved - was unable to hear that mans explanation because of his interfering family, that was more worried about reputation than his happiness, and because he was in the moment too overwhelmed by the betrayal to give him a chance to explain. Which clearly mirrors Peach's story. (Thers's also the parallel of the class difference as Phoom seems to be at least middle, likely upper middle class by birth while Vicha seems to have lived at the dance school which would imply him to be the instructor's son or an orphan/otherwise family-less kid the instructer took in. Either way he was certainly not rich.) (And I guess Vicha knowing more about cooking than Phoom is also a parallel and also another indication of their different economic backgrounds.)

Dr. Phoom apologises for not being brave enough to tell Vicha what he wanted to tell him (which was also Home's problem)

And then Dr. Phoom finds out Vicha finally heard his apology but he's still sticking around and he says that's enough for him which prompts Home to look at Peach (again) because that is kind of what he hopes for. That he gets to properly apologise to Peach and that Peach will still be around afterwards.

Just like Dr. Poom he doesn't want to exocise his ghost, he wants to talk to him.

Home fully acknowledges Pangpang as his baby sister (in law) in his contacts.

Pangpang's viewers are devastated at their ship having sunk.

They're being annoying talking by way of Pangpang even though they stand right next to each other. Which is also a classic trope for fighting couples (though it does admittedly also get used for friends sometimes)

Fully adult man Dr. Phoom knows a lover's quarrel when he sees one.

Peach knows that to facilitate communication between two lovers he needs to at least somewhat communicate with his own.

For some reason their solution is to cosplay as dance students. And then they, of course, proceed to look at each other while making the "love" gesture.

We had previously seen Vicha do the same.

Looking at them doing that prompted Dr. Phoom to think of his own young love. He has definitely clocked what's going on here (though obviously he has more important things to worry about than some strangers relationship problems)

Peach is using the same pic for Home's contact as Home is using for his, just zoomed in on a different place. And he has Home saved as DANGER DO NOT ANSWER! They're so annoying.

Meanwhile Home is sitting at a bar, crying about calling Peach like he got dumped. (Which he did. For good reason.)

We've seen so far that the ghosts are very limited. They are not fully concious and aware beings, rather they are "caught" in their desires at the moment of their death, they pretty much move solely with the goal of fulfilling their last wish. More like a broken record stuck in a loop than a living being that has multiple options to act and react to whatever happens around it.

It is noteworthy therefore that Home's ghost continued his journey to Peach as that makes this his biggest desire at the moment he fell into a coma.

Unfortunately it seems that he can't speak. Although Peach wouldn't be able to hear him anyway, so maybe all he wanted was to see Peach one more time. We'll see next episode how similar or not Home's ghost is to the others since Home is not completely dead. For now the biggest difference is that he still looks normal.

No Lesbian Corner this week because they didn't interact. Kan was gone being shady for most of the episode.

Using the awesome ghost powers we apparently have to give Rosie the idea to go and take a walk.

It's been a while since she's last seen Alastor and the poor deer can probably use some gossip time, what with having two kids already run around and three more on the way.

Yes, she should really go and catch up with him!

(I very much like the idea of Rosie despising Mimzy because Mimzy is clearly nothing but an inferior version of herself 😅)

The kid's walk a bit ahead, close enough to intervene should something happen, but not too close. So the adults can have a quiet conversation that's not for their ears.

Mimzy: “You really have a peach of a plan here”

Alastor: “What exactly are you referring to?”

She gives him an elbow nudge followed by a wink.

Mimzy: “Come on, ya can't fool lil’ ol’ me. Cozin’ up to the king and baby trappin’ him”

Alastor stops dead in his tracks, anger bubbling in him.

Alastor: “Excuse me?!”

Mimzy: “Come now, why else bother with kids?”

The demon stares at her, mind blanking, until he finally has his words back.

Alastor: “My dear, am I one to break promises?”

Mimzy: “‘Course not sugar. Not even once”

Alastor: “And you recall that Lucifer and I adopted her, therefore promising to take care of her?”

Mimzy: “Pff. Ya don't need ta like someone to keep ‘em safe. And I bet those little poppets are easy to trick”

The smile sharpens, as his teeth grind together. His eyes twitch.

Alastor: “I am not tricking Nova, nor Lucifer, nor Felix. And I'd appreciate you not making any hints to that”

Mimzy: “Alright! Ya don't have ta bite my head of!”

They walk for a bit, before they run into Rosie- much to Alastor's delight and Mimzy’s annoyance.

Rosie: “Oh my stars! Alastor, how lovely to see you!”

Alastor: “A pleasure as always my dear!”

After a heartfelt hug, the two seperate. And Rosie's eyes fall on Alastor's company.

Rosie, peeved: “Hello Mimzy”

Mimzy, annoyed: “Rosie.”

The radio demon knows they are not fans of each other. Thus they make sure to cross their paths as little as possible, so Alastor is not caught in-between the crossfire. Luckily, the children distract from the uncomfortable situation. Nova hugs the cannibal’s leg.

Nova: “Hello Rosie”

Rosie: “Hello darling, how have you been?”

Nova: “Okay”

Felix: “We played a lot with mommy yesterday!”

Rosie: “Well that's good to hear!”

Mimzy: “Oh, so she knows them already?”

Rosie smiles, not sweetly, but sharp with all her teeth.

Rosie: “You would too, if you would visit for more often than whenever there is a crisis to be resolved.”

Mimzy: “Some people have to work, missy!”

Rosie: “And you think you are one of those?”

Alastor slips between them quite masterfully.

Alastor: “Rosie dear, we were going to the yard near the jazz club! Would you like to join us?”

Rosie: “Oh yes! I have a few stories to share!”

She glances at fuming Mimzy with a sly grin when the deer isn't looking. She isn't about to let her pregnant friend alone with this snake in the grass.

I can't bear it any longer. I have to share my thoughts on the Mario Movie because I have next to no one in real life to gush over this with and the next best thing is to scream into the lonely Tumblr void.

I gotta say like 90% of the criticism levelled against this movie by critics and fans and haters alike can be countered with 'it's made for a target market of 6 to 12 year olds, adjust your expectations.'

LUIGI IS BEST BOY

I don't get people who are upset that he's not in the movie more because Mario's entire reason for existing is to save Luigi. Luigi is endgame.

Seriously Mario gets his ass handed to him so many times in this movie. Almost everyone in this film got to take a whack at him, even Peach XD The Bowser/Mario fight at the end, poor lad could barely stand and STILL faced off with Bowser. Tenacious little bugger.

Knowing that Mario would throw himself into such physical danger to save Luigi is both heart-warming and heart-breaking. You can imagine that Luigi is the only thing that can make him stop.

Princess Peach more like Princess PARKOUR.

No really I loved Peach though I found her animation a little uncanny? But her personality was just right. Classy, Sassy and a little bit unhinged :)

Music choices were bloody weird. One of the few cases where Bonnie Tyler felt wildly out of place. More orchestral Mario music and less Kill Bill plz.

Luigi is such a golden boy. The part where Bowser is interrogating him and threatening to rip off his moustache, he asks if Mario is the kind of guy a princess would fall in love with, and LUIGI, WITHOUT MISSING A BEAT, is like 'YES MY BRO IS A TOTAL CATCH'. GOD DAMN. Little guy is scared for his life and he is still Mario's biggest wingman. He doesn't even seem to ponder the question. Sure you can say he's just giving answers to stop the torture but something in the line just screams he believes it to his core. What an A+ little bro

I was a little confused by the Toad personality they picked. Is 'outdoorsman adventurer' Toad a game character? Not that I didn't like it, I'm just wondering what the basis of that personality choice was.

Jack Black as Bowser was just having too much fun.

I loved the scene where Bowser is 'practicing' proposing to Peach with Kamek playing Peach, and they are both so into it that even when a guard interrupts them they seem more annoyed than embarrassed XD Like 'dude we're in the MIDDLE OF SOMETHING can't it WAIT?!'

Kamikaze blue shell Koopa was NOT what I was expecting to see in this movie. Damn

Yes the scene where Mario and Luigi finally reunite was so PERFECT ♥ I could watch their joyful hugs until the heat death of the universe. The bit just after Mario lands and he looks like he's about to cry before he hugs Luigi, I just see a 'oh shit i almost lost you in boiling lava I'M SO HAPPY YOU'RE ALIVE LET ME HUG YOU AND HOLD YOUR FACE JUST TO MAKE SURE YOU'RE REALLY HERE ;-; ' moment.

'Why are you dressed like a bear?!' Luigi I adore you. Charlie Day gets a gold star.

I don't get why everyone hated Donkey Kong's voice, I honestly didn't find it that bad. 'He's just Seth Rogan being Seth Rogan'...yeah and? The voice fit? It wasn't out of character? They got a guy who's voice fit the obnoxious, bombastic Donkey Kong personality, I'm not seeing an issue. Maybe I just don't watch enough Seth Rogan stuff to find his voice jarring.

So many Easter eggs from all sorts of Nintendo properties.

LUIGI FACING HIS FEARS TO PROTECT MARIO FROM A FIRE BLAST HE IS TOO GOOD FOR THIS WORLD I LOVE HIM.

I made a prediction a week ago with a workmate where I said 'Mario will get to use all the powers in the movie and show them off, but in the end Luigi will get to use the invincibility star to save the day'....and I was totally half right :)

Had a convo with a workmate about this. It's interesting that the main conflicts in the film for Mario and Luigi individually (as in their own flaws they want to overcome) is that Mario hates being seen as small and worthless, and Luigi struggles with being cowardly and less assertive than Mario. And yet neither of these issues are the main problem that needs resolving. It's ALL about the brothers working together. 'It's gonna be ok as long as we're together' is the mantra. Mario isn't fighting Bowser to prove his worth or be a hero or even to be Peach's knight. He's fighting to get his brother back. Luigi leaps in to save Mario when things get hairy but the manhole cover wouldn't have stood up for very long. Mario proving himself and Luigi overcoming his cowardlyness is not what ultimately saves the day. The two brothers being together, fighting side by side and using Bowser's power against him does. And it's lovely. Mario may always have issues with people looking down on him, and Luigi might always be the anxious one, but that doesn't matter, because they have eachother's backs and they KNOW together they can save the world.

No matter the AU poor, Luigi can't catch a break rip. How awful that he's so alone dealing with the 'Death' of his brother and is really only able to trust the word of the friend who saw him last. Oh, imagine the anger he might feel towards Bowser for not doing all he could to bring Mario back safely. Like all these years, he's shown them how physically strong and capable he is and couldn't even save his long-time friend, and even if he couldn't save Mario...why didn't he save their ruler?

Cue Bowser telling this elaborate tale of his 'attempted heroism' to everyone, and they all believe that for weeks.

Woah, not him scaring Luigi into silence and then immediately following it by making him feel low for thinking about the good times with Mario. Definitely would lead me to start questioning said friendship. Oh gosh, imagine a couple of instances where Bowser uses Mario's name in vain and dropping cryptic hints about the truth to him only.

Not Luigi finally gaining the courage to not only check up on Peach, who also lost mario and her parents, and still has to push forward to make sure everything stays in order only to be shut out by Bowser.

Bowser lying to Luigi that Peach is finally in a place of healing and bringing up Mario and her parents is only detrimental to her progress... Luigi can't talk about his feelings with anyone close to him, and that hurts! The only person who's acknowledging his feelings is invalidating them at the same time 😭😭😭

Whaaaaaa?!?!?!?!? Oh gosh I wanna jump into this AU and just save Luigi like forcing him to move out of his home... the space he built with Mario....give this guy a break I beg!!!

Yooo, that speaks volumes about Peach as a friend (I'm always a sucker for Peach and Luigi friendship stuff). Even in her own mourning, she knows that Mario would want her to make sure Luigi's safe and taken care of. Bowser wouldn't dare do anything too harmful to Luigi under Peaches' command, probably telling her that Luigi insisted he needed more space 🙄.

Yo, I always forget that some mario games follow different continuities, and that includes how the bros. ended up in the Mushroom Kingdom. Either they are born there or not.

Look, I love and actually really need to see more interactions between Toadsworth and the Bros. and my gosh in Universes where they inhabit the kingdom since birth, Toadsworth and the Toads actively taking part in raising the bros....ugh my heart 💗💗💗. You can not tell me that Toads don't raise all their children in some sort of community...it just feels right.

Ohhhh, I got you now!!! My brain was like oh Toad and Daisy 👀 quirky little pair that could work 🤣🤣. I like the use of Sarasland being miles away and choosing to stay out of political conflict as something that appeals to others looking to start a new life.

Oh no I can only imagine the anxiety Mario's feeling about having to potentially face everyone again after following the "living in the moment" motto for so long 🥺🥺🥺 but he resolves that it's what needs to be done.

True!!! Wario and Waluigi are never just 'kind.' There are always some sort of ulterior motives with those guys...they could be just as conniving as Bowser except people are able to see through their schemes from the first word 🤣🤣🤣

Super Mario AU heavily inspired by the Lion King (because drawing it will take me forever and I want to throw that idea in the world).

In this AU, Bowser wasn't king of the Koopas (at least not at first) and most importantly, he and Mario were close friends.

Mario met Bowser when he explored the Darklands for the first time; intimidated at first, he quickly found this strong Koopa to be charming and carefree under his sharp wit, a persona Bowser cultivated carefully. Mario trusted Bowser, believed him to be the coolest guy in the world and did everything to earn his respect and friendship. Bowser was his best friend.

Or so did Mario think.

He didn't realize that Bowser was using him for his plans ; growing closer to someone in the Princess' inner circle (as in this AU, Mario, Luigi and Peach all but grew up together) with the goal of getting rid of him once the time was right. Bowser encouraged Mario into reckless behaviour, suggesting certain places to visit because they would have something the kingdom needed, and wouldn't the Princess appreciate it ?

Mario took the habit of dragging Luigi with him in these adventures, until the day they both almost died to enemies in the Darklands; Mario then tried his best to not involve Luigi into his expeditions anymore to keep him safe.

But it only made him more susceptible to Bowser's manipulations. After all, his best friend wouldn't put him in danger, right ?

Until one day, Bowser manipulates Mario into doing something that causes a great catastrophe; maybe causing the death of Peach's parents, or someone as important to Peach (Toadsworth maybe?). But it wasn't actually his fault; like in TLK, the event covered the moment where Bowser murders with his own hands the victims, and Mario (who was supposed to die as well) doesn't see the crime. All he sees, when he manages to pull himself out of danger, is his friend's dark expression as he takes in the gruesome scene.

"What have you done?"

It doesn't take much convincing from Bowser to send Mario running away, too horrified and consumed by guilt to come back to Peach and Luigi and all of the Mushroom Kingdom.

With Mario, the only witness, out of the way, Bowser makes his move : presenting himself to the castle, claiming to be here to help and swiftly, quietly taking over the crown, under the pretence that Peach is too distraught by her parents' death to rule properly. And it doesn't take long before he brings his followers along : Koopas and Goombas and Shy Guys who were seduced by Bowser's promise for more power in the luxurious Mushroom Kingdom.

Bowser also claims that Mario tragically lost his life as well, and his body washed away or too mangled to be recognized. No one suspects a thing ; Luigi was one of the only ones to know Bowser was friend with Mario and has no reason to suspect any foul play. Bowser still makes sure to keep a close eye on Luigi, ready to eliminate him as well if he ever grows suspicious.

Months pass. Bowser slowly, methodically asserts himself as the new king and removes any sign of resistance. By solving issues and defeating threats the kingdom faces (which he engineers himself from behind the scenes), he gives the impression he's a reliable king, very strict but fair and the only thing between the kingdom and destruction; by the time Peach starts to be concerned and wants to intervene, Bowser is too influential and powerful to challenge.

Mario is hiding away in another land. He doesn't dare to come back : everytime he thinks about it, he fears the reaction of Peach and Luigi if he tells them what (he thinks) happened. And after all this time, his self-exile is a significant proof of his culpability, isn't it ?

I don't want Peach to be the one to look for help and bring back Mario, as she's still officially in charge and would prefer to stay in the kingdom and try to fight for her subjects rather than flee; and Luigi would be too carefully watched by Bowser and his minions to have a chance to leave the kingdom.

Instead I hesitate between Daisy or Toad, although Daisy might have the role of Timon and Pumbaa, greeting Mario in her kingdom and encouraging him to stay and enjoy himself without thinking about his past (in this version of the AU, she doesn't know Peach and her kingdom).

In any case, when Mario is convinced to come back to the Kingdom, the events play similarly than in TLK : only with Luigi in the role of Sarabi, summoned by Bowser in a humiliating display so the Koopa King can take out his anger on an easy victim. Luigi has been cowed until now, unable to fight back; but when Bowser brings Mario into the argument, Luigi dares to stand up and defend his brother -only to be violently struck back.

And that's when Mario shows up.

Bowser is taken aback, unsure of how to react as Mario rushes to his brother's side and makes sure he's okay, before marching towards Bowser, angry at his friend's behaviour...but Bowser catches himself and manages to turn the situation around, using Mario's shame to undermine him, pushing him to admit publicly his role in the disaster.

(Peach going to Mario and saying "It's not true...Tell me it's not true." as he hangs his head down in shame. <3 <3)

Anyway I just want Bowser circling around Mario as he manipulates him and smugly tells him "Ah, so you haven't told them our little secret.Well, now's your chance to tell them."

I got to watch The Wheel of Time alone tonight, so I took notes about the episode because I love reading those and seeing what catched people's attention. It was, again, so good! There's a lot I didn't notice the first time 🤣 I looked for Fain when I heard the whistle, but couldn't find him. The portal stones, the tiny guitar on Asmodean. Second time around with my bf, I only spotted Fain once 😮‍💨 felt a lot like where's Waldo!

Between the Super Rush update, Run making Daisy a damsel again, her being the most identical clone in Smash history and the shift in tone for Rosalina's character, (baby counterpart, VA and voice direction change) it really feels like Nintendo is homogenizing Peach, Daisy and Rosalina and downplaying what makes them unique. Sparks of Hope is at least gonna give Peach and possibly Rosalina some spotlight, but poor Daisy can't catch a break.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one bothered by Rosalina's change in how her voice sounds. She didn't sound as "homogenized", as you mentioned, with Mercedes Rose and Kerri Kane. I kinda liked how she had a much lower voice. It made her seem more motherly and wiser compared to the other girls. (Of course, it's implied in her debut that she's at least several centuries old, so it makes sense.)

But as for Daisy? I'm gonna keep screaming for justice (FIGURATIVELY, guys; not all Daisy stans are like this, I promise) until I'm blue in the face.

oKAYyyyy, hello sexy! I just finished reading the interlude. May I precisely say that my emotions and reactions were more intense than for the first act !! bc we're finally getting some responses to some concerns we came across in the first act and dang. oh gawd, I feel like we traveled more than the first chapter and I liked how we changed background and we came back to the very root of the story, when it all started! you oxygenated my brain Allexandra haha, thank you for that, you made my experience more pleasing than it already was when I usually read your stories. Anyway, moving along, so, what was the chances that our yn would meet na jaeman again? OH PLS this girl was born under the wrong star I swear.. fate is testing her fjfjfjf. All along her multiple meeting white him, I really questioned his behavior. I was really really looking for any hostility of him toward her after what the famous tale said of her breaking his heart.. doesn't this golden hearted boy hold any.. grudge? yo I'm so intrigued by this particular trait of his character. Bc oh lord know that if it was me I would so salty even after 4 years.. But anyway, I screenshoted one passage that made my eyebrows fly off my face :

I'm so used having a tight line between being realistic and reading too much into suggestive things, that I just gasped out loud when reading his line.. And again, I was cautious about him, bc yn wasn't and I didn't knew how she couldn't be! like what the hell his his deal anyway? at some point, i was afraid he played with her emotions just to come back right at her you know ? like some of.. manipulative revenge or something like that.. BUT I quickly changed my mind when I understood how soft hearted he was, and how he was still.. under the influence of his genuine(?) feelings towards her, that maybe all of it was just him trying to reconnect with her and maybe try to.. built a new relationship? I HOPE.. I WANT THEM TO BE BACK TOGETHER.. Also, omg.. the way my heart was clenched with anxiousness during the confrontation of yn and her mother about the way yeon was unfairly favored.. It was an cruching hearted moment, specially when yn started to compare herself with her sister:

I'm so happy you introduced the peach tree reference into this part ! the scene with the kids was really an interesting moment to witness and also the flashback with mister Park !! jaemin was such a flirt at sixteen ??? HAHAHAHHA a lot of this fic parallels with jane austen's persuasion really. and god if u haven't read it, the main lead of that novel (captain wentworth good GOD)....is......insanely swoonworthy. the novel was rlly a depiction of a love that endures, and i wanted to translate that into my own fic so there we go....the result.....na jaemin who, consciously or not, has nothing but love in his mind 😔 (unlike our y/n. who has. too much in her mind HYGSHFSG). boy was salty throughout the beginning of the first act but....that will be elaborated in the next act aHA so excited.

babe. trust me. the worse i can characterize jaemin (so far) is his totw persona pls i cannot turn this guy into a shitty person HAHAHAHAHAH. despite all the angst entailed, my main objective for this fic was to relay the same rawness of emotion that i felt when reading persusasion HGSAHJG eunha + renjun happening is also a parallel from the novel LMAO but yes.....before i keep raving about it. persusaion is just so good i trust me i cried HAHAHAH.
