Damian since he was young always imagined what his father was like.

A man much like his grandfather.

Cunning but cruel.

He pictured blood stained steps leading to a golden thrown holding a man with a iron crown.

In a way he was right.

His brothers marching to the next battle prideful like Grandfather's most loyal.

Yet his hands weren't red unless it was with paint.

His murals decorate the manor he calls home. He flies at night helping, saving people.

He sits at a dinner table and is not expected keep his mouth shut, his hands can move they aren't required to remain still.

He is more free then he ever has been.

As he watches his father the great and mighty Batman leave him in the rainy street. As he beats Todd until all he can see is his blood.

He can almost see the cage that he bashes his wings against trying to escape.

It's decorated, comfortable and he knows that he will lay back down in the soft bed and he will coat his canvas with red that is one shade off from the blood of his brother.

He will go down to dinner the next night and memorize the blues, and greens that mark Todd's face.

He will sketch them later.

He will stay where he has the illusion of choice where he can feel soft fur beneath his callused hand. 

But when he looks upon his Fathers grave in five years time he can hear the shattering of metal and he can finally feel his wings spread without pain.

Summary: Alfred knows what to do.

Warnings: Alfred knows what to do, Bruce is tired, boys love their brother, but they want peace, fluff all in all.

Taking care of a baby is difficult, even for Alfred. Bruce and him had joined forces for (Y/N). The boys have also agreed to help whenever they could. It was exhausting to take care of a little baby. Bruce and Alfred were sleep deprived at this point and the boys took care of their little brother while the two recovered slightly.

It felt nice to have a presence of a baby here, despite the chaos that a baby brings. (Y/N) was an easy baby as long there was a routine for him. Feed him on time, change his diaper regularly, put him down for a nap on time...

All of the basics essentially.

Oh, not to forget, (Y/N) was often held in someone's arms. Whether it be Damian's, Dick's, Jason's or Tim's, (Y/N) was happy to be in their arms. Bruce was (Y/N)'s favorite none the less. Who wouldn't love being held by their father?

But, it seems that (Y/N) had medical problems. Bruce took him to the pediatrician to see what's going on. It seems that it was (Y/N)'s stomach and Bruce got some medication for it, but he was worried. Bruce believed in medicine, don't get me wrong, but... Will (Y/N)'s poor tummy will be able to handle it?

Bruce has tried everything he could to soothe his son, his anxiety preventing him from giving him the meds. How can he know that the chemicals won't make it worst? Again, he believes in modern medicine, but his baby is...

He doesn't want to hurt his son more. Alfred and everyone else tried to help, but (Y/N) was just in too much pain to even think about calming down for a single second. Jason was sure that (Y/N)'s voice will be lost in a few more hours and Damian wanted to die.

Dick and Tim tried, but nothing worked. At all. Nothing. Tim was exhausted and Dick was going to snap soon. Very much soon. Damian and Titus were out of the manor for these couple of hours and Jason went to the Batcave.

Alfred, all of a sudden got an idea. Going to the garden, he got some roses and has decided to make some rosewater for (Y/N). He cleaned the flowers in the kitchen and then put the in a pot before submerging the petals underneath the water. He put it on low heat and let it simmer for now. He put a lid over it and sighed as he heard (Y/N) crying.

He waited and checked on the petals and smiled when he saw that the petals lost color. He turned the heat off and moved the pot away, allowing it to cool down completely. (Y/N) can't drink hot water. And it would be a nice alternative to the medicine that Bruce is so anxious about giving to (Y/N). The worry is understandable, babies are more fragile than toddlers and older kids so giving them harsh medicine is not a good idea.

Alfred turned on the radio and removed the lid from the pot. He could hear Bruce's voice trying to shush his son, but (Y/N) was still crying from the pain. Alfred waited patiently as he poured himself some whiskey.

Did he love his grandson more than life? Yes, but sometimes, alcohol was important to soothe the headache the crying might have caused. He slowly sipped his whiskey as he waited for the water to cool down. Jason and Damian came down to eat something and Alfred pointed at the leftovers in the fridge.

" What's in the pot Alfred? " Damian asked as the took a container of food to heat it up.

" You'll see soon. I'm just waiting for it to cool down. "

" Is it for (Y/N)? " Jason asked as he looked at the food in the fridge. " Please tell me it's for him.

" It is. " Alfred said and took another sip of his whiskey. Damian and Jason sighed in relief.

" Thank God. " Damian said as he started heating up his food. Jason smiled as he waited for his turn.

" What's in the pot though? " Jason asked as he peered over to look at the pot.

" Some rose water. It's great for the stomach. " Alfred explained and Jason nodded as he looked down to look at the water more intently.

" Since when do we have roses in the garden? " Jason asked as he started heating his own food up and Damian sat down and started eating his food.

" Since forever master Jason. " Alfred said as he finished his whiskey.

Jason nodded and took his food out of the microwave and started eating.

After 20 minutes, the water has cooled down and Jason and Damian have left the kitchen. Alfred rolled up his sleeves and went to the living room, with Bruce still soothing his son. Bruce was tired and Alfred was sure that Bruce's ears were going to start bleeding in a few minutes.

" Hand him over master Bruce. " Alfred said and Bruce gladly gave (Y/N) to Alfred and he just closed his eyes and relaxed, the sound of (Y/N) crying moving further away from him. He kept them closed until there was silence.

Why was there silence?

Bruce opened his eyes and went into the kitchen where he found Alfred, with a sleeping (Y/N) in his arms. How the hell was (Y/N) sleeping?

" Alfred? What did you do? " Bruce asked as he looked around. Why were on the counter stems... Were those rose stems? Alfred chuckled at the confusion that Bruce was exhibiting.

" Rosewater master Bruce. " Alfred said, giving him a very short answer.

Bruce was still confused and Alfred chuckled once more. " I fed him some rosewater. " Alfred explained and Bruce nodded. Whatever it was, it helped (Y/N) out and Bruce wasn't going to question it at all.

" Huh. Thank God for the rosewater I guess. "

" Yes, it's a more natural remedy. I know you were anxious about giving the medicine to master (Y/N), so I remembered this recipe. "

" Alfred, did I ever tell you that you are the most important member of the family? " Bruce asked as he walked closer to his beloved son, caressing his little cheek.

" All the time master Bruce. "

" Good. " Bruce said as he leaned down to kiss (Y/N)'s head and the little boy slowly reached for his father. Bruce took him into his arms and allowed him to rest in his arms.

Dick and Tim popped their hands in happy and relieved that their brother was not in pain anymore. And that he wasn't ruining their hearing anymore.

" Is he okay? " Tim asked quietly and Alfred nodded. Dick sighed in relief and put a hand over his heart.

" Thank God. It's nice to have a silent manor for once. " Dick joked and everyone chuckled. That much was true.

" Well, it's great that our brother is not in pain anymore. " Tim said and walked closer to his baby brother, just observing him.

" Thank you Alfred. " Dick said and Alfre laughed. Bruce rolled his eyes with a fond smile.

After the discovery of rose water, (Y/N) refused to drink anything else. Thankfully, Alfred started feeding him some solid foods so he wasn't going to be hungry. But it was funny the first time (Y/N) refused to drink anything that wasn't rosewater.

Bruce was confused, but Alfred already had batches of water prepared for his grandson. (Y/N) needs to be hydrated. Bruce sighed as he drank his coffee, looking at the garden outside. He needed to call a gardener to plant more roses in the garden...

He glanced back at his son who was happily drinking his water, with Alfred holding the bottle.

The four older brothers walked in for breakfast and they all laughed.

" (Y/N) is so fancy. " Tim said laughing as he made his way to the coffee pot and the cereal cabinet.

" More than you B. " Dick joked and Bruce rolled his eyes with a smile.

" Yes, (Y/N) is a true Wayne. All Waynes are fancy in their own right. " Damian confirmed and Bruce just kept smiling at the banter that was going on here.

" You do know that you have up your gardening skills, right old man? " Jason teased and laughed behind his coffee mug. (Y/N) really did bring everyone together.

" I'll call the gardener the moment I'm in office. " Bruce declared and everyone nodded and started eating in peace. This is a very nice and calm morning for their standards.

" Is it just me or (Y/N) brought us all together? " Jason asked and everyone paused for a moment.

" You are right. " Dick said first and everyone followed with either nods or soft murmurs of agreement.

Jason walked up to Alfred and (Y/N) who finished his bottle of rosewater and picked his brother up in his arms. " My little brother is so fancy. " Jason said as he rocked his little brother, who in turn was shrieking with laughter.

Everyone smiled even more. This morning is really nice. And (Y/N) is a glue that keeps this family close and together.

Cain, Damian and Veni:

Lore: Before the original lore the world was rather peaceful being ran by 3 gods. Veni and two other goddess that were lesbians bc I can't make lore without lesbians. Of course my other oc Jude during his rain of terror took notice of the universe and saw how un "pure" it was. Veni already knew yet he couldn't do anything thus he made himself a clone so Damian would never get lonely and so he could trick Jude into thinking that he had killed him. Anywho, Jude kills Veni and the two other goddesses and took over the universe. As he began, he took notice of Cain who was 16 at the time. Jude saw how lonely Cain was as he was always so distant from his family. Being over looked because of his younger brother Damian. Jude knew he could take advantage of that so he ended up getting into a toxic and sexual "relationship" with Cain. Cain thought Jude loved him, as Cain just wanted to be loved yet as he turned 23 Jude lost interest. Jude then went after Damian so out of rage and jealously of once again getting overlooked because of Damian. After killing Damian Jude got pissed the fuck off and stripped away Cain's innocence's making him realize what Jude did to him. While he was at it, he also ripped Cains wings (yes a metaphor for sa) and put him into Cains personal hell where he would spend a eternity of loneliness'. Just to torutre poor Cain more, Jude put a mortal woman into the prison. Cain loved her dearly, she was also free to go to the human realm in which is where she found baby Akira and baby Sano!! Taking them in Cain was hesitant to raise them yet soon grew attached to Sano. Sano was Cains favorite and Akira was Cains wife favorite. Years pass and Sano and Akira go out to live their own lives and sadly Cain's wife dies from old age. Cain who is once again alone with no one as he knows Akira is dead and thinks Sano had also died bc of Strade. Moral of the story Cain dosen't really get a happy ending even with MC. Mc would eventually die leaving Cain alone once again. Sano:

Lore: Akira was born first, he lived a relatively normal life with his mother and father. That was until Sano was consived. His mother struggled through out the entire pregnancy. After being told so many times that she needed to get an abortion, her family disagreed. Especially her husband who was dead set on both the baby and her surviving the birth. After hours of labor, Sano was born and of course their mother had died right after from blood loss. From there on, their father neglected them completely. Akira spent days taking care of baby Sano making sure that Sano was well taken care of. 7 days after Sano turned 5, their father ended up killing himself where Akira and Sano had to become homeless which is where they met Cains wife!!!. They grew up to be really good people despite their upbringing. Akira wanted to be a lead guitarist and Sano wanted to be a doctor always finding the human body fascinating and how it could survive without certain limbs. Akira and Sano remain close yet part ways. Akira joins a band and Sano attends collage where she studied hard. On one stressful study night, Sano went to a bar where she met Strade! She thought she was gonna make a new friend as she never really had any. Sadly Strade ended up kidnapping and torturing her for 4 days. Akira finds out that Sano had been kidnapped and the dumbass took it into his own hands to try and find her. Akira ends up getting killed in front of Sano in the process. After grieving his death, on the 4th day Sano ends up escaping bc dumbass Strade FORGOT TO LOCK THE FUCKING DOOR (also b4 you ask abt Ren this was before Strade kidnapped Ren). Soon after returning home, Sano debated on killing herself to get rid of the unclean feeling along with preventing it from happening again. After hours of laying in her bathtub, she came up with the idea of making prosthetic arms and legs. She gave herself bottom surgery (girlboss behavior ik ik) and replaced her arms and legs with protreptics. After days of not leavng her house in fear still, she came up with a plan which was taking in other people who went through the same thing she experienced and replacing their body parts with prosthetics. This is getting long so she does that, goes back to collage, meets her bf and wham bam thank you ma'am she is happy but Akira and Cain still thinks she dead. Vincent and Farz:

Lore: Both of their backstories are the same BUT how they met is different. Vincent is still a veteran (got that money money from sueing the place LOL) and Farz is just a photographer! Vincent runs a lesbian strip club and Farz had to do a little report about it. Vincent noticed how pretty and nice Farz was, getting a lil crush on her. Farz who interviewed Vincent about the club also couldn't help but get a lil crush on Vincent. Vincent of course looked like an asshole on the outside, even putting on a persona to protect herself but Farz saw past that. Anywho after a month of interviewing the place (she got busy hanging out with Vincent and other projects LMFAO) they started dating YIPPIEEE!!!!!! Vincent is very protective over Farz, will in fact punch a cat caller or someone trying to homophobic towards them. Overall it's a healthy relationship lol. Vincent only hurt Farz when she pushed Farz a lil to hard.

gonna ramble about a specific sxf theory don't mind me

okay so everyone and their mothers are concluding that Donovan is probably a mind reader too

and at first i didn't want to believe the theory because it seems too easy, and there's the fact Loid was straight up internally monologuing about his mission and being a spy right in front of Donovan, and the dude just stood there like nothing is going on

BUT LIKE...THAT KINDA MAKES SENSE THOUGH???

Anya as a mind reader uses her powers to her advantage. She used it to complete the crossword puzzle so Loid could adopt her. She used it to bring Loid and Yor together so she could have a mother for Loid's mission. She uses it constantly to not just achieve this broad idea of world peace, but to keep her family's secrets so they can stay together

It's mean to say, but Anya manipulates, but she's a literal child so her manipulation isn't meant to be malicious. She's manipulating the situation in favor of her innocent desire to bring what she thinks is a sense of "peace"--meaning making her and her family happy and helping them achieve their goals

She doesn't reveal the nature of her powers because she fears for how people will react

Donovan is a grown ass man with shady ties to the government. He is part of a political party that HATES Westalis. If this man allowed his body to be experimented on and was given the power of ESP then by golly that makes him the most powerful man in the world because he can use that to his advantage

If he knows Loid is a spy, then he can properly plan better how to counteract him. He can be 2 steps ahead of the greatest western spy. Obviously Loid posed no threat yet in Donovan's debut chapters, he was trying to set up a way to get closer to Donovan. And Donovan shot it down because he knew what Loid was doing!

It would be foolish for him to reveal his hand just yet

Donovan being a mind reader also makes sense for how he acts with his family and how his family acts with him. It's clear in 106 that his presence puts his family off balance. Demetrius doesn't seem bothered but Demetrius has no thoughts! What if Demetrius learned to turn his mind off because Donovan was somehow literally getting inside his head and making him stressed out? If he stays silent and doesn't think, then his father will leave him alone

Melinda is also hella uncomfortable around her own husband. She may know about why his head is stitched up like it is. If the stitches do mean he was experimented on, and Melinda knows he has a supernatural ability, it will explain why she estranged herself because a power like that can lead to all kinds of emotional abuse

And then there's poor Damian, the literal child who doesn't know any better. Damian doesn't hide how much he adores his father and craves his love and attention. Donovan definitely knows this, and the little crumbs of acknowledgement he gives Damian is another form of manipulation. If he continues to feed Damian's desire for affection, it will be easier to control him

I really do theorize that there will come a point where Damian will have to choose between Anya and Donovan, and it'll be a difficult choice because while Anya is a friend who he can trust...this is his dad. And Donovan throwing him these random acknowledgements will tip the scale and make Damian chose a world of war (to kinda tie into how Anya's worldview brings that of peace, Donovan's will lead to war and ruin)

So yeah, I can believe Donovan is a mind reader. However, I do think it's still too early to start calling it canon. Endo may throw us for a loop and provide more layers to the Donovan mystery, but that won't be for a long time now. Another theory I have is that the metaphorical bomb will drop once Anya and Donovan get in the same room as each other (either via a random event or once Anya becomes a Scholar and goes to the mixer). Once Anya can get close to read his mind, that's when we'll know if he can read her mind back...

"This is one of my favorite times of day," Signal said as he watched the sunset. The sky started taking on an orange color, and another part of the sky had a pink hue, and soon, the skies would turn to purple. 

"It is beautiful" while agreed. As promised Duke called Syn to patrol with him again. The very same day actually, right after his classes. White and Signal spent the rest of the afternoon running around the city saving lives while also learning about each other.  

He spoke about his parents and their situation, while she already knew learning from his perspective was entirely different and more emotional. He still visited them frequently. He spoke of his powers not what they were (although she already knew) but how he got them and how they made life a little bit weirder for him. He also talked about his time with the family.

Overall Duke did most of the talking and while she already knew most of what he had spoken on she did learn about who Duke Thomas was. He was kind, caring, and intelligent. He was a leader but also very mischievous. He was someone she could see herself being friends with.

Damian didn't pay attention for the rest of the day. Too distracted, he didn't do much. Someone must have really noticed his behavior and spread the word because no teacher called out his lack of work/ participation, and students created a four-foot radius. He appreciated it; he needed the space to think.

Syn's father, Silver, desired another deadline. Despite the timeline that had been in place, he desired another deal or to speed things up. What for? It didn't make sense.

Silver had never voiced his displeasure,then again Damian hadn't spoken to him in years. What had changed? It wasn't fair. Just as things were finally settling and getting better, conflict arose. Damian just wanted peace.

As soon as Syn entered the house, the joy from the day faded into anxiety. She finds Damian in one of the sitting rooms on the floor in front of the fireplace. She sat down across from him silently watching the flames. 

"We have a deadline."

"Not  the exact words, but it was implied." She didn't dare look at him.

"By who?"

"Illumi, he says the father is growing agitated and wants to see actual progress."

"We are progressing. You are getting to know my family. You're moving into the city, we are planing to decorate this manor."

"yes, now," she looks at him. " Now we are making progress. Before, you wouldn't allow me into the city, let alone near your family. You barely write to me and never call. His concern is understandable. I am concerned."

Damian snapped to look at her. The look of despair that crossed his face left her bewildered. His voice cracked. "You said, ' I am concerned.' You're concerned. You're concerned about us?" she sighed, running her hand over her face. It didn't make him feel any better. 

"I am concerned because my father is concerned. And he's going to try and step in sooner or later. I don't want that to happen. We need to show progress before my family gets involved. And I'm concerned we won't."

"That's why you're so eager to learn about my siblings. To show progress," he understood she was trying to show her father that the relationship was actually working and moving forward. She needed to show they were actually partners. Actually family. 

"I apologize for my reaction. I jumped to poor conclusions."

"It's understandable-"

"It's not, and I should have listened entirely first, not found my own conclusion with little knowledge and a lot of emotions. I am genuinely sorry."

I hate to admit that I know little about Signal/ Duke Thomas's character. I know the basics of his origin story and abilities, but beyond that, nothing.

So I'm sorry in advance if his character is not as expected. Most of my knowledge of him is mainly from Fanon, not canon.

Honestly, I was mad when I initially saw it was a Short Mission. It's gonna be a month now since the last regular chapter came out, the plot was moving, my heart skipped at beat at the last double spread, the story was thriving, I could sense a lore drop any minute now. Then we got two short missions. TWO!!! But the newest short mission took me by surprise and now I'm sad about the damn cartoon dog.

Spoilers for the SpyxFamily manga and anime, more as in, characters that appear and not exactly plot stuff, BEWARE!

IT'S A GODDAMN SHORT MISSION, WHY DID YOU SHOW AGAIN THE SAD DOG'S BACKSTORY?!!! ISTG. You know what I was expecting? I was expecting a "funny haha, future seeing dog has a boring day home alone" maybe break some stuff by accident, maybe he goes to the neighbors' for attention, cute, sweet, nothing heavy slice of life chapter. BUT NO, I WAS FOOLED.

Like, most of the Short Missions are just, not that relevant. Like, it is more of a day-to-day life than the manga normally is. As in, last short mission (the chapter before this one) was about Anya sending Lloyd, and WISE, to an early grave with a High-Fashion dress for prom. It was funny, sweet, Anya wanted to help, then Damian messed up again and she wanted revenge, you know, the usual.

Why? Who gave Tatsuya Endo the idea to give Bond MORE flashbacks?!!! Poor dog's been through a lot, the Forgers becoming his safe place is just beautiful. THE WAY HE AND ANYA RESONATE, BECAUSE THEY ARE BOTH SECRET EXPERIMENTATION SURVIVORS!!!!!! Fucking dog making me sad because a big ass Penguin plushy has stiches. Stupid dog making me emotional over fish, FUCKING FISH. I HATE FISH!!!!

SpyxFamily makes me happy and sad. I think it's a great story to show how connections, friends, family, define a person more than what we'd like to imagine. No person is an island, so seeing characters like Nightfall or Franky, doing missions or getting bits of their backstory, makes it feel more real. Having a character like Anya, being capable of reading mind but not truly understanding most of it makes you think about how children navigate the world.

Oh gosh, I could talk about how SpyxFamily shares an anti-war message through its main characters, all of them victims of the war, one way or another. But it won't, 'cause this was supposed to be about the dog having what I'd call panic attacks because he accidentally broke a glass. BUT WE GET TO THE PENGUIN. In case you haven't read the manga (why are you reading this?) or simply forgot, Bond broke Mr Penguin!

It was an act of jealousy, Anya started playing with the plushie more, and he got lonely. So he destroyed it. He might be an oracle dog, but he is still a dog, I don't blame him. And he felt Bad. He made Anya cry. And he felt terrible because he just wanted Anya back and now Anya's crying and he can't undo it (dogs can't sew). In the end they made it better. I don't remember if it was Lloyd, Yoru or the neighbors, it was probably Yoru though, who fixed it. And the Penguin got cool looking stiches and "he and Bond made Peace".

That was nice, UNTIL THIS GODDAMN CHAPTER. I used to wonder if Bond also felt survivor guilt from being the only dog that managed to escape. TURNS OUT HE DOES, THE DOG HAS SURVIVOR'S GUILT FFS!!!! Poor Bond, realized that he inflicted damage to something like him (unable to defend itself, new/young, a play pretend animal and an animal no longer treated as such) and he tried to make it better. I can't change what I did but I want you to feel better, I'm sorry.

I'm overanalyzing here, it's probably Not That Deep. It's a funny haha manga about a family of dangerous people who end up loving each other by accident. But sometimes it's about Lloyd burying himself in a nameless grave by the time he was 18. It's about Yoru sacrificing her innocence for her brother only to do the same for her. It's about Anya needing validation from everyone because if the people in the lab didn't like her they'd get rid of her. It's about Bond feeling lonely and distressed because a vision he got is especially terrible and he is just a Dog.

I read the interview where Tatsuya Endo said he didn't like the characters that much. Maybe not Gege Akutami (you're going dow Gege) levels of hate, but a blunt indifference. And sometimes I find that hard to believe. Maybe he didn't want Anya to be cutesy-dumb-pink-haired little girl, or Lloyd a super-intelligent-spy-ikemen at first, or even now. But I don't think he doesn't like his story, or characters; we wouldn't have the short missions in the first place if that were the case.

All this to say, cartoon dog made me sad, and then happy, because there are better things coming for everyone in the end. Thank you for reading this far! I'd recommend SpyxFamily if you are up to something a tad dramatic, with a happy ending and endearingly funny. (Or if you have issues with your parents and want a bit of escapism, that's also fair)
