The academic viewpoint on this is amazing, in which she becomes a god after completing her thesis and thematically its a really nice way to wrap up a character arc. I also just adore her. okay so yog sothoth is giant and eldritch and fucked up, and also it's the bifrost, so it's rainbow too. it destroyed, well first a train (unintentionally built for it by odin) and then the entire yggdrasil system (80 years later because someone (lyf) looked into the train when it arrived and got a bit possessed). Even the mechanisms, at this point still very immortal and unkillable (one of them got stuck in a sun for a century in the album just before this and was fine) are scared of it (when lyf tells them the train arrived raphaella. the most likely to do an unethical science. mentions that they "should be going". she's scared of it). It twists the people on the train into things I'm… not even sure i can quote! Loki and Sigyn try to fight it but they can only keep the train from landing for so long and even then they're in enormous pain to do it. The bifrost may just be the single most powerful entity through all the albums because of this evidence? The only defense is to delay or run away, no other choices here. I love it 10/10 deity the mechs know exactly what their audience likes and it's this

realizing tumblr can let me ramble continuously as much as i want so i could talk about my thoughts and my previous pokemon runs too woaw...maybe i’ll post pics of those playthroughs one day, but probably on my main blog instead 🤔

here's ricky's current team where i’m at and what she looks like in game!! i was sooo peeved that twin tails are locked in post game, even if they don’t even look like ricky’s hairstyle at all, i just think she needs some kind of ponytail��i used to have her with straight bangs to imitate her three bangs style, but it kinda looked ugly af… :V

i’m just before vast poni canyon so gummy will soon be the rail gun beetle that ricky deserves ^_^ i decided on a sweets/dessert nickname theme, tho i did consider a norse mythology theme, but i thought she’d be more cutesy in a pokémon au/world where she is not in life threatening stakes.

i want to write out my reasonings for each pokémon pick too, this team isn’t exactly what i had in mind since it’s limited to the sun pokédex, but i’m pretty fond of them!! mostly, i thought she could have a non-dex rotom (but since it’s like this, her rotom dex is definitely named mike), and i also thought she’d have a porygon - but u can only get it post-game and i’d have to deal with trade evolutions o<-<

i also chose pokémon sun as ricky’s game since i headcanon her to be wasian HAHA specifically japanese and american/german - since hawaii is known for its japanese immigrant population (which is also reflected in the game itself), i liked the idea of her having an actual game background of immigrating from kanto

1. alolan raichu - pikachu is the iconic mascot, just like ricky XD alolan raichu shares her love of sweets, and i think lets her identify with being alolan too

2. vikavolt - he’s a rail gun!! ricky should always have fun with guns. i think ricky has an affinity with machines, and vikavolt has gundam aesthetics hehe. his pre evolutions are cute too, which i think ricky would like. notably he’s another electric type, a remnant from when i used to have ricky as an electric type specific trainer, before i decided to diversify types for eo teams. rotom also would’ve been another electric type…😅

3. metagross - another association with machines—it reminds me of gladsheim as well. i like the juxtaposition of this hulking creature made of metal next to ricky too. showing off her cute and cool sides...

its name is ike as a companion to mike, making them fit into the sweets theme LOL

4. wigglytuff - i headcanon that ricky enjoys singing (and is the lead singer in band au) so i wanted a music related pokémon. maybe in universe, she would stay as a jigglypuff?

5. toucannon - also because of gun. i actually hunted a shiny version, bc it looks like the bi pride flag aghdjshfd. i think ricky can be prone to have a temper, matching toucannon's angry look

6. alolan ninetales - ok so i was conflicted bc i wanted an ice type, as a reference to ricky’s cryo sleep lol, and i was also considering vanillite bc ice cream… but its moveset sucks ass!!! sorry!!!! i do like ninetales as an additional reference to her heritage though…i have vanillite in rosa’s hypothetical team too so it wasn’t really meant for ricky in the first place :P

The tags about ponies wearing by Celestia and she's just right there like ?? reminded me of the MLP Infinite Loops, where Celestia actually explains that she's not a fan of the practice, and so the Loopers start to instead swear by trees and shrubs, instead.

This is especially amusing both because eventually the practice spreads to loops in other universes and because the multiversal background of the Infinite Loops Project is that Yggdrasil is a supercomputer and a tree and the multiverse where the loops are happening simultaneously.

For years the only permababy I’ve had was my Calvin fandragon (of Calvin and Hobbes) who I put together back when it was still possible to trick Flight Rising into letting you add apparel to hatchlings (long since nerfed, sadly).

I’m kind of surprised with how many I’m now up to, since hibernal made it possible for me to not feel like I was “wasting” a slot on a non-breeding dragon. Twelve! An even dozen, as of today.

Chance, Belique, and Furious were all dragons I created based on spotting particularly striking random hatchlings when going to the Predict Morphology screen. Sidereal was randomly spotted on AH. Yggdrasil and Starflower were sought out based on specific colours and/or genes I was looking for. SpiderHam is obviously a fandragon, as are, slightly less obviously, Bergil, Bill, and Simaril. Those three are all based on characters or things in Middle Earth - Bergil is the son of Beregond, one of the captains of the guard in Minas Tirith; Bill is Bill the Pony; and finally the Silmaril is one of the white jewels containing the light of the two trees. And finally, just added today is Carcasse, a rather disturbing looking baby fossil dragon based on the genetics of one of my favourite breeding pairs of same.

The Infinite Loops is a multi-author fanfic. It is also multi-universal.

From the Infinite Loops TV Tropes page: "The premise is that something has happened to Yggdrasil, the World Tree computer that contains and runs the multiverse. As a result, the various universes have been put in 'safe mode', time-looping until Yggdrasil can be repaired. Each universe's loop is maintained by the presence of an Anchor, a core person from that loop who is the first to notice their universe is looping. There is always an Anchor in a Loop."

One of the most popular loops is My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. There are more than 200 chapters! Here a link to the TV Tropes page just for the MLP loops.

As you can guess, I kind of like it!

The image above combines both my interest in plastic ponies and the Infinite Loops. It is part one of two and mainly a refresher on the family relationships of Twilight Sparkle in the loop's "baseline" AKA the show itself. Only "loopers," those that can remember previous time loops, are shown with images.

Twilight's parents are Twilight Velvet and Nightlight. Her biological brother is Shining Armor who is married to Mi Amore Cadenza "Cadance," They have a daughter, Flurry Heart. Twilight's family adopted Spike the Dragon, so he can be considered Twilight's brother. 

Finally, Princess Celestia adopted Cadance as her "niece" when Cadance ascended to alicornhood. After Luna returned after a 1000 year banishment, the Princess of the Night also likely considers Cadance her niece. (I'm not sure that this is canonical/baseline, but Luna in the Infinite Loops seems to think so.)

In part 2 we will see how Twilight Sparkle's family has expanded by more than double in the Loops!

Since my first run through of DQXI, I’ve always had this weird obsession with the Void part of the game. Master Pang said that it was a place where all souls go through before they depart to Yggdrasil. A sort of purgatory for the souls.

The Dundrasil scene from before got me thinking about how there were some rituals to bypass or even shorten the process in how long the souls had to wait. The quest you get from the priest in the Zwaardsrust region also makes me think in how souls get trapped in monster forms until you free them.

With that being said, in the game, the Void is a vast and endless space of darkness. The surroundings mostly likely shaped by the most prominent regrets of the accumulated souls around. (ex Master Pang because as much of a badass as she is, I feel like she regretted being unable to teach the last of Angri-La’s techniques with evil finally showing his ugly face. And that once Rab and Eleven came around and gave her the chance, that last light that we saw wasn’t Solar Flair but the illusion construct of the Field of Disciples fading away from the technique’s point of revival.)

The Void is a place where it gives souls a chance to lay their regrets to rest or a safe place to resolve them with the illusions as it did with Master Pang. The Dundrasil scene with the ritual to guide the lost souls also acted with the same catalyst in smoothing out regrets and the like as it was said that people killed by monsters weren’t able to move on. But obviously failing on some exceptions (ex King Irwin, when you first interact with him after beating him, his face was that same dark expanse as the Void that lead to the past and meeting the Gloomivore in that same expanse.)

Obviously there are some discrepancies with that because in that scene, it showed that whatever you interacted, you had an actual interaction with the past just like with Chalky. But with the Void being so interconnected with Yggdrasil, it wouldn’t be a surprise if someone with the right powers came along to bend spacetime (ex the Luminary.)

Which leads me to make next big obsession. While Yggdrasil represents all of the light and life. The Void is obviously the darkness and the death.

As someone who wholly believes in human faults and not the weapon, darkness is not evil. The dark was never meant to be evil. The age old subject that you see in some anime, games, and cartoons (ex My Little Pony with Luna. (Shutup this actually threw me for a loop in how deep the show got.))

The purpose of the Void is to renew souls and help move on peacefully. If it was for anything nefarious, then Yggdrasil wouldn’t allow that kind of evil to be interconnected with her in managing souls. The Void is what true darkness is, a cover, a saftey blanket for the lights that need rest. Just like how winter is a time for the earth to breathe before spring comes and life comes back just a bit better.

And to be honest, all this build up is just me trying to figure out how to incorporate Void powers somehow. That the darkness everyone uses wasn’t the real chaotic nature of what the darkness in the Void was. Nothing tainted by emotions like greed or the like.

Tldr: Literally me loring this shit out for Void powers.

Another year gone by and it’s time to pick my personal Game of the Year 2019 titles. Finished a record amount of games this year (44!) and there were so many great games it was hard to pick the best of the best. See the end of the post for a full list of nominees.

1st place: HITMAN 2 (PS4, also available on PC and Xbox One)

Agent 47 is back, balder and better than ever - 8 sandbox locations and 3 sniper levels filled with lethal opportunities and clever humor. This is a game for individuals of culture. I'll leave you to prepare.

+ Creative assassination gameplay at its finest + Great level design + Lively, vibrant and detailed environments full of fun dialogue, juicy opportunities and room for improvisation + Silly challenges that never cease to make me smile + Includes HITMAN (2016) levels for free if you own the earlier game - Some levels were a bit confusing to navigate for me

2nd place: Baba Is You (Switch & PC)

I'm not much of a fan of puzzle games but Baba Is You blew my mind. I like the game so much that after torturing myself solving puzzles for 56 hours on Nintendo Switch I bought the game for PC too. Now I've played it for 34 hours on PC. The feeling of finally solving a level that you were stuck in for an hour and thought was impossible is immensely satisfying.

+ Wonderfully fun and unique gameplay idea + Great level design that forces you to do abstract logical thinking outside the box + BABA IS CUTE (adorable visuals that just work) + MUSIC IS LOVE + Sometimes too difficult and makes you feel like a genius - Sometimes too difficult and makes you feel dumb

3rd place: Ruiner (PC, also available on PS4 and Xbox One)

Atmospheric cyberpunk shooter with fast-paced gameplay and nice world-building. The moment I stepped to the streets of Rengkok I fell in love with the game. This game felt special and I kept thinking about the game after I stopped playing. The cyberpunk feel was tangible. Gameplay is fast-paced and fun with a variety of weapons, both melee and ranged. The few glitches I encountered can be overlooked thanks to the impressive marriage of visuals, lighting, audio and atmosphere. I've now finished the game 4 times on two different platforms. I rarely replay games.

+ Fun, challenging gameplay + Incredible cyberpunk atmosphere + Cool visual style and gorgeous lighting + Fitting soundtrack (bought it together with the game) + Skill point distribution is very free + Short and satisfying game experience - Heavy use of quite disturbing strobing lights - A couple of small glitches

Honorable mention: Etrian Odyssey V: Beyond the Myth (3DS)

Challenging dungeon crawling RPG with plenty of options for strategic team builds to conquer the Yggdrasil labyrinth. Etrian Odyssey V is one of the rare RPGs where I can't plow through boss fights and actually need to carefully consider how to stay alive - I managed to beat the main game last boss on my third try after adjusting my strategy.

+ Fun and challenging boss battles + Light on story, focus is on great and rewarding gameplay + Generous freedom for building your characters + Beautiful art style + Mapping can be set to auto to reduce manual work or you can draw your maps completely by hand - Some skill descriptions were inadequate to illustrate skill's true function - I was left wanting to see my characters' models appear on the screen in combat (à la Persona Q)

Absurdly funny RPG enhanced by its black & white stick figure visuals and hilarious animations.

One of the coolest action games I've had the pleasure to play. The high-octane gameplay fluidly swaps genres from beat 'em up to first person boxing and even shmup.

oh, Jesus, I remember hearing something about how the Gen 4 MLP mane 6 characters aren’t going to be the main characters of Gen 5. and I just had the randomest thought pop into my head: “would they each be the leaders of the separate pony tribes?” (because I also remember something about Gen 5 being set up in a world tree Yggdrasil sort of style where there are different “planets” for each to live on) and now I feel like making it an “rulers” AU even before the damn show’s actually come out. ಠ_ಠ
