I for one am very excited for the vacation expansion. I'm sure we'll get to just chill out with our friends and nothing will go wrong.

So now that all of the round one polls are in and propaganda for everyone is pouring in, what are your thoughts on characters and polls?

some of the polls are definitely not matched well. it's really hard to make matchups with super popular characters. the # of votes the laois vs. william james moriarty poll has is crazyy i'm sorry he got matched with tumblrs current blorbo needless to say i thought it would be more even than it is turning out to be

and also, in the last tournament i ran, sometimes a character will get lots of submissions but not actually do well in the bracket. so when trying to make a balanced first round you can't really use that as indication of how well a character will do. and a lot of times i am also shooting in the dark when i don't know a character or fandom at all. given the number of warrior cats and wings of fire submissions, for example, i thought i'd be hearing way more from those quarters, but those polls have been pretty quiet.

also one of my favorite characters of all times is getting crushed in a not even exciting way so :') rip to that particular participant

also just a heads up i might be a bit late coming out with the next round of polls cause this coming week is literally my finals week so (i clearly planned this very well)

AITA for this disagreement with some of my friends/colleagues?

So I(40s F) used to work in local level government. I quit to pursue other career opportunities because of burnout, but they asked me to stay on in an official-unofficial advisory capacity, and I'm still pretty close with the current office holders, particularly the current occupant of my former office (A, 30s X). Their boyfriend (H, 30s M), who also works there, isn't fond of me but more or less tolerates me when they're around, which is okay enough. Both their job and my current one necessitate a lot of travel, so it's not often an issue.

Things run pretty smoothly, overall, and I do think the entire city council has the people's best interests at heart. However, recently a natural disaster devastated our area and caused a lot of disagreement over how best to deal with it, and frankly the proposal that was eventually put forward was an awful one that would return a privileged few (about 25% of the population, after estimating numbers) to a semblance of normalcy while neglecting the other 75%. Neither A nor I are willing to back the group's play on this one, for what I feel are obvious reasons. A has gone completely no contact with all of us and I don't even know where they are right now, which aside from worrying me a lot, also hurt my position in the discussion since I officially hold no office anymore.

So I took pretty decisive action to stop them, and now three of our original council (H, plus other members E and L) are extremely pissed off at me and are trying to rally the rest to oppose me, while making some extremely shortsighted and harmful moves in the process that will hurt a lot of people. They don't seem to care, however. It's like they consider the majority lesser human beings and only care about that privileged 25%. I don't think I did everything right, but I did my best. We have to let go of the past and make the best of what we have now, for everyone's sake. No more shall man have wings to bear him to paradise. Henceforth, he shall walk.

AITA for sundering reality into fourteen reflections to stop my coworkers? Or should they have accepted that their paradise is gone, and ceded the reflections to their new fragmented, imperfect inhabitants?

The thing about getting a degree in library science when you also play Critically Acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV is that you catch yourself repeatedly talking to the mammets in the library in Sharlayan desperately trying to figure out how their classification system works.

Please Square put this in a book somewhere I need to know

Edited to add that I need to know how Ishgard does it too. You can't tell me those isolationist snobs haven't developed their own system. Probably named it after some saint or another.

Which character that you didn't know were you most intrigued by the submission of? And which first round poll are you watching most excitedly?

wow, there's a lot. like the last tourney here, i'm going to try to get into whatever thing the character that wins is in. (last time I had already watched Utena by the end of the tourney, so I have been making one of my friends watch it (she likes it & likes Nanami))

so these are the characters that I don't know that I am intrigued by: Vash the Stampede - I have heard of Trigun but I don't know what it's about Lewis Smith - at first, I did not care but all the propaganda in the notes has made me Collete Brunel - same thing Macrophage - what a silly premise for a show Emil Västerström - the art is really beautiful I also am interested in getting into Dungeon Meshi and Pale, but I have heard of those characters before and know a bit more about them. As for which poll I am most excited for? It's hard to say. The ones that are fun for me are the ones that get a lot of propaganda and are really close in votes. So of the ones that are already released, the two I have been watching most closely are: -#14 Miyuki Shirogane vs. Tsumugi Takanashi -#20 Lillie vs. Arashi Narukami As for the ones that aren't out yet, I'm honestly more nervous that my matchups are balanced than excited! Because there are still a lot of very popular characters and it's always the hardest to match those ones up. I think poll #50 is just a really dumb matchup like the characters are not really congruent at all so I guess we'll see if that is funny or a disaster. Also excited for/enjoying polls which have fandoms that I had good interactions with in the last tourney -- my top two of those being enstars and wormblr.

I'm also excited for the ones that have my own blorbos that I submitted in them that nobody else did :) some of them are quite obscure and others of them i think will be/are doing well so yay.

Comments on the Fordola poll make me feel like I should just say

1) all the propaganda is coming from submissions on the original forms (with one exception that'll show up later; no I'm not telling you which one)

with how last round went im thinking how fun it would be if i added like a betting mechanic so people could bet on who was going to win with odds calculated from previous rounds and such. would probably incentivize voter fraud and other crimes though 😔
