Been recently taking note of the differences between original and localized names for enemies in the Castlevania games. Didn't find any beings that would be too obscure (Dogether would be a bit tricky but you already posted about that one in the past, so that helped). Still can't wrap around what Polkir and Abiondarg might be, though. Are they simply made-up names, or is there a meaning behind them?

Castlevania is near and dear but I guess since it plays much faster and looser with its monsters I’ve never had much interest in comparing names aside from a few here and there.

Searching Abiondarg in Japanese (アビョンダルゲ ) brings a total of 211 results. No clue about that one. Castlevania has coined names in the past if the assumed etymology for Valmanway is anything to go by. Bizarre if one Tolkien reference was swapped out for another. Polkir… also no clue.

Looks like its name is written ポーキル (Castlevania wiki let me down; though I’ve been spoiled by the Megami Tensei wiki always listing Japanese names). Search results aren’t promising on that one. I don’t think they’d be named arbitrarily but I just wouldn’t know where to start with either of them. Let me know if you find anything!
