Forcible Arrest, Part 4
“Do you see how much easier things are when you co-operate, sir?” said Melissa smoothly. She released Gary from her crushing thigh-grip on his head but then held her prisoner face down into the carpet by placing her nyloned knee firmly on the back of his neck. “I just need to tighten your cuffs now, sir,” the policewoman explained politely and fastened the handcuffs even more restrictively around Gary’s wrists as he gasped in discomfort. “I do hope you’re not too uncomfortable, sir,” the blonde woman cooed, “do tell me if I have restrained you too tightly…”
The breathless Gary, bound behind his back, on his knees and his forehead pressed into the fabric of the rug, was quite unable to make any reply to Melissa’s mock-sympathy whatsoever.
To be continued.

Mine 2 - Matt Sturniolo
Masterlist
(Fem reader x Matt Sturniolo, tiny bit of a fight, stalking, obsessions, male!masturbation, etc.)
A/n: I love this series. No other words just, I love it. And I hope y’all love it as much as I love writing it
Tumblr media
Y/n’s POV
I lay down, pretending to sleep because I can hear someone walking around my house, did I lock my door after the roses came? What if my admirer is in here.
What if he’s hot.. wait, I can’t say shit like that, for all I know he could kill me or kidnap me.
I turn over, to alert him that I’m still awake. What if it’s not a man, it could be a woman. The footsteps are too heavy to be a woman. I slip out of bed and into the corner behind the door, I grab the first thing I can find, a hair curler. That’s not gonna do anything unless, I turn it on.
It took a good 3 minutes to get hot, I turned it up to the highest heat. My bedroom door creaks open, my heart is pounding through my chest. A man comes into my vision and I swing the hair curler into his face. A sizzling sound and mine and the man’s screams fill my room. I turn it off before running down my stairs, still armed with the curler.
Who the fuck was that guy, he was old and bald. I start to hyperventilate and I run out of my front door and sit on the steps leading up to my front door, a familiar face runs over to me, Joseph. I burst into tears before he leans down to me.
Matt’s POV
I had started to walk away from her house after dropping the roses off, when I heard screams from y/n’s house. Not just hers but a man’s. I run back to check if it was her and I see her sat on her front step. She notices me and starts to cry. My heart shatters at the fear and sadness in her eyes, “I heard screams you okay?”
She shook her head rapidly, “No, I had some flowers and a note on my doorstep and I think I didn’t lock my door and some guy came in.” She cry’s and stands up to me. I try to contain the happiness I feel that she is talking to me and coming so close to me, I have dreamt of this for a year, maybe not these circumstances but how’s my chance for her to like me.
She grabs onto my arm and looks at her own house in fear, I look down at her beautiful tear stained face, “I’ll get him out.” I smile to her, her face lights up, “really? Thank you!”
I walk into the house, I hear the man stumbling around upstairs, I close the door behind me and once Y/n can’t see me my face switches to pure anger, how can this absolute maniac enter her house?! Only I can do that, she can’t know but.. at least I wouldn’t hurt her.
“Hey.” I call up the stairs as I make my way to the upstairs hallway, the bathroom door is slammed open and the sound of water running is the only thing I hear, “if you really need to shower so badly, there’s one downtow-” I look in the bathroom, the man turns to me, a massive burn mark across his cheek, nose and eye. He swings at me blindly.
“Let’s settle this like gentlemen.” I lie, feeling the anger rush through my veins quicker than my own blood. He looks about 60, he runs at me and I swing a punch at him, knocking him square in the place where his burn is, he screams out in pain and falls to the ground.
I can’t help but feel somewhat responsible for him getting in, I was the one who gave her the letter and flowers, but I can’t dwell on that or even let her know.
I grab his arms and drag him downstairs and out the front door, y/n must’ve called the police because they have pulled up outside. They’re asking her questions and pull the guy outside.
“This him?” The police ask me, I nod. “I recognise this creep,” the policeman adds, “he’s been arrested for similar things before.” He scoffs and pulls the guy out my hands. The policewoman walks up to me and y/n, “do you have anywhere else you can stay? To avoid yourself being scared to sleep here?” She asks y/n. She looks to me, “I don’t have anyone really,” that is true, “and I don’t really know you so i don’t know.” She spoke to me.
I jump at the opportunity, “you can stay with me, I have a spare bedroom.” I say, y/n has always been overly trustworthy and that has turned out bad for her in the past but I would never hurt her. “Really? Thank you.”
Some time passes and y/n is packing a bag of stuff to bring to mine, she allows me to come upstairs with her, I look around the room and my eyes focus on a teddy bear her mother had gotten her when she was younger, she takes it with her everywhere that she sleeps, “don’t forget your bear.” I say, pointing at it.
“Oh yeah, I can’t sleep without it.” She smiles, “I know.” I smile back, her smile falters, “how do you know?” She asks me tilting her head. “Oh I mean like I relate, I have a favourite teddy too.” I have always been good at getting myself out of situations I get myself into, using my words.
“Oh fair enough,” she giggles. Such a perfect laugh. And her smile, her lips so soft and beautiful.
We walk to my house, “do you have a car?” She asks me, “uh, yeah I just don’t drive it too often.” I smile down at her, focusing on the path infront of me. “If you live such a long walk away why were you by my street?” She innocently asks me, her cheeks red from the cold air, “I like walking, to clear my mind.” I nod. “It’s not a long walk just half hour.” I shrug.
“That’s a long walk to me.” She laughs.
We reach my house, it’s a 3 bedroom but one of them is used as my office, and the other a spare bedroom. I need to make sure my door is locked, always, if she gets into the closet I may never see her again.
“This is a nice house.” She looks at the outside as we walk in. The living room and kitchen are plain, only the basics I need as I spend most my time outside or in my room or office. “Where’s your decorations?” She asks me, “I’m a simple guy.” I smile down at her.
“So, Joseph.. what do you do for fun?” We walk upstairs into the guest room, Shit, I forgot I told her my name was Joseph. I need to tell her the truth. “I do photography stuff. Also I lied..” I swallow, she looks up at me confused, “my name’s not Joseph it’s Matt.” She laughs, “why did you lie?” She sets her bag onto the bed.
“I was nervous.” I shrug and I help her empty her bag, “nervous? Why?” I look down at her, “a pretty girl was asking me my name, I got scared.” I lie. The pretty part isn’t a lie but I didn’t want her to know my name but now it doesn’t matter.
She blushes and looks down. “What’s in the rooms at the end of the hallway?” She asks me, “oh that’s my room and office, I keep it locked because I do my work in there.” I reply before walking out of the room, “wait!” She calls. I turn around instantly and walk back.
“Hm?” I hum, “did you see who put the note and flowers by my door?” She sits on the bed, “uh, no.” I lie. “You’re lying.” I shoot my eyes to her, “what?” I chuckle awkwardly. “I can tell by your face, did you see someone by my door?” She’s the only person able to read me, that could be a bad thing.
“I saw someone walk away but I didn’t see if they came from your house.” I smirk, she pats the bed next to her.
“Thank you.. for everything.” She spoke, I felt like she was thanking me for everything and the roses but she didn’t know it was me, and she can never know.
“I’m gonna sleep now, it’s been a long day to say the least.” She smiled at me, her beautiful pink lips glistening in the light. “Okay, night.” I smile back before walking out the room and shutting the door, “can you leave it open slightly?” She asked me, I felt a rush of relief come over me, it will be easier to watch her and see her with the door open.
“Yep.” I leave the door open a crack before returning to my room and locking it behind me. I shift the wardrobe and enter my closet, I flick through the many photographs of her that I have and find the one I took a few weeks back, she was in her living room dancing around in a black skirt and a cami top leaving little to my imagination.
I close up the closet and lie in my bed, the picture in one hand. Am I really gonna do this? I’ve done it before but it feels wrong. But since when have I ever done something not wrong, I’ve been watching this girl for about a year or more.
I unbuckle my pants and slide them down slightly, same with my boxers. I lie back comfortably, and take my cock into my hand I instantly bite my lip at the sensation, she’s been driving me crazy today.
I start to stroke up and down whilst holding back my noises, since she’s in the room next to me. “Fuck..” I breathe out quietly, I fasten my pace, the photo drops to the floor and I squeeze my eyes shut, using my imagination to lead me to my climax.
I let out soft whimpers as I throw my head back, holding back my orgasm so I can keep feeling this. I lose control and come undone, bucking my hips forward as white stripes shoot out of my cock.
I lay there breathlessly for about 2 minutes before I clean myself up and return the picture to its place in the closet. I stand in the closet and start to write down a note, today someone broke into her house, I played the hero and got him out and now she’s staying with me, she doesn’t know I was the one who gave her roses but
My bedroom door knocks, “You in there Matt?” She asks softly through the door, “uh, yeah give me a second..” I leave the note in the closet and quickly move the wardrobe infront of the door.
I open my bedroom door and lean against the frame, “hey you okay?” I ask, still breathing heavily from rushing to close the closet. “I left my phone, at my house.” She sighs she looks upset. “Oh shit, do you want me to get it for you?” I walk out my door and close it behind me, leaving us in the hallway. “Would you? I can come with I just gotta get out of..” I cut her off, “no it’s fine I’ll go for you, just go back to sleep.” I would do anything for her, anything she asks.
“Thank you so much, here’s my house keys,” she hands them to me before pulling me down for a hug. If only she knew what I was doing 10 minutes ago, she wouldn’t talk to me again.
I walk out my front door and make my way to her house..
Forgetting I didn’t lock my bedroom door..
A/n: I got carried away w this one and I don’t even know if it’s that good but like yesss.. next chapters gonna be.. something. 😅

The transfer
A Bruce Wayne x female cop being soulmates.
I was too tired to reread and check all my English mistakes, sorry !
Tumblr media
Y/N didn't ask to be transferred to the Gotham City Police Department.
Some of her former colleagues said it must have been a mission, because she was a good cop, talented and with integrity, the kind of cop that Gotham seemed to need. Others said it was a punishment, because she was too good and too honest, scaring some who wanted to get rid of her.
Y/N decided to believe it was fate when she met Bruce Wayne.
After all, it was always fate when two soulmates met.
There had been an attempted break-in at the Wayne Tower, the residents had been able to scare the burglar away, but the housekeeper had been very scared, the butler was just getting out of the hospital, and the owner was someone importantly, so several police officers had been sent to the scene to check that they were no longer at risk.
Y/N didn't know Gotham at all. She hadn't really cared about it, except the crime rate, and the neighborhood she had moved to. She only knew some her new colleagues, especially Jim Gordon and Ramirez.
It was a shock to meet Bruce Wayne. An honor according to Ramirez, who seemed to admire the man from afar.
"Hello... I'm Agent Y/N Y/L/N.", she introduced herself shyly, looking the man in the eye, as she was taking the statement from Mr. Pennyworth and his boss.
The one she thought was her soulmate looked at her too, before lowering his eyes without saying anything. His butler answered all her questions, then he thanked her for her kindness, before accompanying his master to his room.
Bruce Wayne didn't look at her a second time.
Returning to the station, Y/N tried to persuade herself that he was in shock. It could be difficult to meet his soulmate under such circumstances, and he might need time. Or it wasn't the right Bruce Wayne.
She didn't think about it for a while, especially after meeting the Batman.
It didn't seem to shock many people to see a guy dressed as a giant bat walking around town and fighting crime. Well, some cops wanted to arrest him, but others saw him as an ally.
Jim Gordon was one of those threads. And Jim Gordon was a good cop, so Y/N decided to trust him.
"He can be a little weird, rude, stubborn and quiet, but he helps us a lot. It's not easy to keep peace and security in this city, and even though he's an outlaw, he doesn't never killed anyone, so..."
"It still wouldn't be good for everyone to start imitating him."
"You don't know the Riddler, it's obvious."
     "The what ?"
     "You're new."
Gordon was right, he was silent. Rude. Appearing in shadows, speaking little, with his deep voice. The costume might have been ridiculous, but Y/N could understand that the criminals were afraid of him.
The beginnings were complicated, because the Batman did not trust people easily. Like Bruce Wayne, or so it seemed.
Several times, Y/N tried to communicate with him, under the pretext of the progress of the case, but each time, it was the governess or the butler who answered her. They looked sorry, which didn't help her to know if she had found her soulmate or not.
Her teammate, Martinez, taught her more about the Waynes. About what happened when the family came home from the theater. Y/N hadn't thought to inquire on her own, she found it inappropriate. This allowed her to understand Bruce Wayne a little better, and to decide to give him more time.
During this time, she began to get to know the Bat better.
They were working on cases more and more often. The masked vigilante seemed to gradually accept the presence of the new policewoman, even if he remained a man of few words.
According to Gordon, he had spoken to her more than to anyone since his arrival, more than two years ago.
"Jim will end up being jealous."
"Why ? He's still my favorite mustachioed cop."
"I'll tell him you said that."
"He won't believe you." said Batman with a smile in his voice, despite his impassive face.
After several months, Y/N ended up taking stock of her situation. Gotham's crime rate remained hopelessly the same despite their best efforts. She was starting to like Batman a lot. And Bruce Wayne still hadn't contacted her.
One day when she felt particularly depressed because of her job, she went to the Wayne Tower, where she was greeted by Alfred. The butler doesn't seem to believe for a second her excuse regarding the investigation, which had long been abandoned for lack of evidence.
He was still nice to her, letting her talk. It was then that Bruce walked down the hall. Their eyes met, he paused for a moment, surprised, but visibly recognizing her, before leaving as quickly as he had appeared. His butler apologized for him. Y/N was then certain of two things that day. Bruce Wayne was her soulmate, and he didn't want her.
It was rare to be rejected. Most of the time, your soulmate would either die or you never had the chance to meet them. But rejection ? Horrible.
However, she had to accept the situation and move on. Y/N always had a goal, her job. And Batman.
It was probably a stupid mistake to get attached to a man she knew nothing about, except his mouth and his voice. That she didn't see more than an hour, from time to time, to talk about crimes. But in her loneliness and despair, he was the only person who brought her some joy.
He wasn't as rude as Gordon had said when she kissed him. It was one evening, after a long case. Y/N was very tired. She wanted to go home and sleep. He had come to collect clues, he had noted that she was not well, and contrary to his habits, he had stayed when he had had what he wanted. Almost shyly, he asked if there was anything he could do. And without thinking, she kissed him.
"... No. Y/N, no." he said kindly, pushing her away before leaving through the window.
They didn't talk about it again. Y/N tried not to be heartbroken for the second time in less than a year. It was stupid.
She thought she understood why the Bat had done this when she saw him with the thief who disguised herself as a cat. They seemed close. Very close.
It wasn't normally proper to talk about other people's soulmates. Soulmates were a private thing. But after almost a year in this city where justice did not work, after being rejected, having lost sleep, having worked with a vigilante, Y/N didn't care a bit about what was proper or not.
     "Is she your soulmate ?"
     "Who ?"
"The Cat ?" Y/N asked without looking at him, focused on the last crime scene photos they were studying together.
She felt Batman's gaze on her, that dark, piercing gaze. He said nothing for a long moment, which she interpreted as a confession, and a demand that she not continue talking about it.
     "... No." he eventually admited.
     "No ? I thought so."
     "No."
     "Okay. Sorry."
They continued to work in silence, but she could feel that he wasn't as relaxed as before, not as focused, still staring at her instead of thinking about the series of murders they wanted to solve.
"Have you met your soulmate ?" She couldn't help but ask.
     "... Maybe."
"I'm not looking to find out your identity, if that's what you're worried about. I'd be glad if you met them. You deserve some happiness and calm in all this darkness."
This time, he was totally looking at her. Y/N forced herself not to turn around, as if she didn't feel he was staring at her gravely.
"Afterwards, it doesn't matter if you haven't met them yet. It's easier when you're alone, I guess. And you must be afraid that they won't understand, or that they will in danger."
     "... A bit."
"Nobody's ever really safe. And if they're your soulmate, they'll understand. It's hard, but they'll understand. Anything can be accepted out of love, like... Like rejection."
It was official, they weren't going to finish this case tonight. Y/N couldn't concentrate at all, trying not to cry thinking about Bruce.
"Don't reject your soulmate if you meet them, please. It hurts, a lot."
"... You were rejected ?" he asked, as if he didn't believe it.
"Yes. But he has his reasons. He's had… a tough life."
"... Maybe it's not rejection. Maybe he's scared, and he's not good with people."
"It's a certainty, but I still waited almost a year, I know when I'm not wanted. Sorry, it's late."
Batman didn't try to hold her back. He said nothing about her tears, or the ongoing investigation. Y/N was a little disappointed. Even if he had tried to reassure her, she would have wanted more. That he asked her to stay, that he told her that he loved her, that he went on the window of her apartment while she was preparing tea.
Instead, someone knocked on her door, and it wasn't him.
"... Mister Wayne ?" she wondered when she saw him in front of her, holding roses.
"I know it's late. For everything. I wanted to apologize and... Invite you ?"
     "Invite me ? Where ? When ? You don't sound sure ?"
     "... I don't know. I never invited anyone."
Bruce Wayne looked as adorable as he was vulnerable in that moment, lost, as he stared down at her feet as he handed her the flowers, whispering that it was for her. Y/N couldn't do anything but invite him in, since he didn't know how.
"Your place is small." he noted, surveying her apartment.
     “Thanks.”
     "No, I mean... It's fine."
"Don't take this the wrong way, but why now ?" she asked without hatred or detour.
"I... I didn't know if it was a good idea, before. I'm losing everyone. They're hurt. I didn't mean to... But you've been here for a year now. You're a good cop. A good person. I wish... I wish I got to know you better."
She didn't ask him how he knew that, asking him if he wanted something to drink, coffee or tea. He demanded what kind of tea, and when she replied real tea, he muttered that Alfred would love her, which made her laugh.
A car passed in the street. The lighting in the apartment wasn't strong, so Bruce's mouth was brighter than the rest of his face for a moment, a brief moment, during which Y/N froze on his lips. Lips that seemed familiar, like that voice and those dark eyes. She thought back to what he had said about fear.
They looked at each other without moving, Y/N trying to hide what she had just understood, and Bruce seemed to be waiting for her to say it.
     "So...  Tea ?"
     "Coffee, thank you."
     "Sugar ?"
     "No, thanks."
"Oh. Black. Like the suit. Alright."
She had said that as a test, but mainly to make a joke, and lighten the atmosphere. After all, she could be wrong, she was very tired, and very attracted by her soulmate as by the Bat.
A hand on her shoulder made her turn around as she picked up two cups, and there was no longer any doubt when he kissed her. Y/N had already kissed this man.
Bruce Wayne was Batman. Her soulmate. Who she'd been working with for a year, who she'd had a weird relationship with for months, and who hadn't said anything the whole time.
She could have been upset, but it was hard when he was looking at her with that apologetic, scared puppy look. Not good with people, that's what he had said. It was terribly obvious when she wanted to kiss him again, but his attention was already elsewhere, fixed on the window.
"... I have to go." he sighed, gently pushing her away. "... Thanks for the coffee."
He added nothing. Batman had never been talkative, there was no reason for Bruce to be much more so. He didn't ask her when they were going to see each other again, he would probably find her the following night at the police station. He didn't give her his number either.
In the sky, the Batsignal lit up the clouds, a message for the criminals, and for him. If Y/N wanted to see him, she already knew how.
Despite everything, she showed up the next morning at the Wayne Tower, welcomed by an Alfred who was too smiling for him not to already know, who offered her tea and homemade buicuits, before going to fetch his master.
"He is not morning person, but it must be said that he sleeps little." said Alfred, returning to sit beside her.
"It must not be easy for you."
"You have no idea, my dear. I hope you can help me."
"I can try, but he's known to be weird, rude, quiet and stubborn."
"It is the least we can say !"
"I knew you weren't supposed to meet." Bruce muttered as he entered the living room. "Don't plot against me."
"It's not a conspiracy if you know about it."
     "Alfred..."
"We will talk later." whispered the butler with a mischievous smile. "Master Bruce, don't sigh, come back and eat a bit with Miss Y/L/N !"
Y/N tried not to laugh as Bruce acted like a child. With this new perspective, he sometimes acted like Batman, but he seemed more mature because of the mask, showing no emotion when Jim spoke to him like Alfred.
He came over to her, muttering a shy hello, taking a seat on her right to chew on two blueberries, before letting his hand slide against the chair, one of his fingers touching her hand.
A year ago, Y/N arrived in Gotham, a dark, hopeless city where she didn't know anyone. At that moment, thinking about her job, her co-workers, and her ridiculously adorable soulmate who fought crime at night disguised as a giant bat, she thought she couldn't have asked for a better transfer.

Bring the noise
As we made our way to the hastily chosen alternative meeting up point for the ‘Bring the Noise’ march it was clear, despite our worst fears, that a sense of momentum and excitement had built up over the previous week and the day was going to be a success. All along Dublin’s main street the cops were guarding the banks and the crappy fast-food outlets but in the middle there was a crowd of thousands. People continued to flock towards the march, including people from the ‘Another Europe is Possible’ rally that had finished some time earlier. Impromptu speeches began. As the crowd of about 3,000 moved off the chants and shouts grew to a crescendo and as we passed through the inner city the protest swelled to about 4,000 people. The sense of resolve, spontaneous revolt and joy was infectious and to music, foghorns, whistles and roars we marched for over an hour towards the banquet centre.
Many of us were surprised that the march got as far as it did but as we came within half a kilometre of Farmleigh house at the Ashtown roundabout we saw the police lines. We came to a halt eighty metres in front of the cops and water cannons. The end of the march was announced and the largely masked up ‘pushing bloc’ came forward with arms linked and approached the police lines accompanied by a sizeable number of protestors from the DGN march and the odd pisshead. After some pushing and the throwing of a few fairly ineffective missiles like half empty cans and plastic bottles, the riot police replaced the uniformed Gardai and there were a number of baton charges. At this point one uniformed policewoman was taken to hospital with a superficial head injury. The ‘pushing bloc’ was broken up and there were a number of scuffles.
Then came the moment the hacks, the senior cops and perhaps even a few of protestors had been waiting for — the water cannon were deployed. After spraying the protestors there were some more scuffles. This prompted an ill-advised sit down protest by a handful of people and some wonderfully surreal antics involving dancing protestors and a large bearded man scooping up some of the water being sprayed by the water cannon and throwing it back at the tender. The police, not known for enjoying gentle mockery, moved forward at this point and they began to aggressively push the protestors back down the Navan Road. After the fracas at Ashtown Gate the police had broken an arm, sprained an ankle, cracked several heads and inflicted numerous other minor injuries on marchers and arrested 28 of them. This was the ‘May Day riot’ that was on all the front pages the next day and although we had spent four days on Dublin’s streets engaged in various forms of protest none of this existed as far as the media were concerned. There had been a ‘riot’ in which the only serious injuries were sustained by demonstrators.

Protesters block tram lines, roads in Manchester after police brutality incident
Roads and tram lines were blocked in Manchester city centre on Thursday night by people outraged by an incident that led to the suspension of a Manchester police officer.
A police officer kicked a man lying on the ground in the face and head at Manchester Airport in England on Tuesday. Other police officers intervened by delivering stun guns. Video of the incident was posted on social media, provoking a storm of outrage.
Manchester Police said in a statement that a police officer trying to detain a man in the airport terminal was attacked by four people. One policewoman suffered a broken nose during the fist attack and three police officers were taken to hospital because of the assault.
The video also shows an officer punching a second man. Police said three of their officers, including a female constable who suffered a broken nose, were assaulted and four men were arrested.
Posting on social media, on Thursday night Rochdale Labour MP Paul Waugh said:
It is clear they (the victim’s family) are deeply traumatised by what happened.
He also added:
While there is clearly deep concern about this incident, there is also a vital need not to let extremists of any kind hijack these events for their own ends.
A group of more than 100 people gathered in front of the city’s central police building to protest after the incident. The protesters shouted: “Shame on the Manchester Police!”
They then marched through the city blocking roads and tram lines.
Protester Nahella Ashraf, co-chairwoman of Greater Manchester Stand up to Racism, said she was “horrified by the level of police brutality” and called for all the police officers involved to be suspended.
Fellow protester Shah Rahman, from Oldham, claimed communities were “very scared when police have no limits”.

Our math man doesn't like his every move being shadowed and our policewoman is a little on the overzealous side, which sets up the pattern for their future interactions, but this is a spy drama and the sniper proves she's got a reason to be.
We get a lot of new supporting characters introduced in this episode - including Police Captain Chen (Li Xinze, costarring with Liu Xueyi for the third time after Love and Redemption and The Blood of Youth), and Secretary Lu who clearly has a crush on Nurse Bai and doesn't like idea of the handsome math man as romantic competition.
Tumblr media
We also get a very contrived reason for our male lead to meet our second female lead, but I dont hate it because the image of her trying to take a blood pressure in the back of a moving car is quite funny. And a second meeting just to cement their new friendship and to take him home to meet another important supporting character - dad. Dr Bai is played by Ding Yongdai who was the Emperor in both Nirvana in Fire and The Blood of Youth, and I'm really enjoying him in this role.
Oof, do watch out for the janky english voiceover with mismatched subtitles when Ji Danyang shows off his knowledge of the Hippocratic Oath to Nurse Bai.

The Whole Truth
Jill’s heart was pounding inside her slim frame. It was a rare sensation for the tough redhead, but this time she was scared. Billy Bradford walked deliberately towards her, an expression of grim determination on his face. “So this is it, Miss Russell, world famous private eye - and murderer!” The last word was spat out with force, and Billy’s expression became one of unadulterated hatred. Jill looked up from her seat at the young man, a pistol in his hand, and pleaded with him with her eyes. “It wasn’t that way, Billy,” she urged, “your brother slipped running away from me. His fall was an accident!” “Liar!” retorted the man, raising his gun to point at his seated female captive. “Billy was like a goat. He knew those hills. There was no way he would gave fallen unless you pushed him!” Jill looked up at the boy, and down the muzzle of his gun. Lured to this apartment by the promise of one of her suspects wanting to turn state, the last thing she expected was to find she had been scammed by a teenager, the younger brother of Freddy Bradley who had come to a sticky end while tangling with her two months previously. Jill had tried all her techniques of female persuasion on the lad - policewoman warnings of arrest; maternal concern at the fact he would be throwing his life away; big sister impatience with his stupidity; kindly aunt listening to his woes - none of it worked. Perhaps only the truth coukd save her life. The whole truth.
As Billy released the safety, Jill began to talk. “Truth is, son,” she said, the words tumbling out, “Freddy was just bad. He shot a garage attendant in town and left him to die. I cornered him in the hills near your home. I tried to get him to surrender but, like you, he wouldn’t listen to me. ‘Freddy Lucas don’t quit to no dame!’ he had shouted at me. I knew I had winged him, and I wanted to get him to hospital but as I crouched next to him, he came at me with a knife. We wrestled, rolling on the ground. I broke free and tried to run. He lunged after me, cutting down with his blade but I swerved and his momentum carried him over the edge. It was a twenty foot drop. There was nothing I could do. By the time I climbed down, Freddy was already dead and that’s the truth. You can blame me all you like but his death was no one’s fault but his own.” Jill had been lost in the terrifying memories and was staring over Billy’s shoulder at the magnolia wall behind him. She was brought back to reality by a sudden clunk! Billy’s gun had hit the floor. She looked up at the nineteen year old man, who gazed back dully. “I guess that sounds like Freddy, Miss Russell.” he said.
Later, after she had searched the boy and lined him up against the wall, Jill tied his hands behind him with cord from the apartment’s window blinds. “I have to turn you in, Billy,” Jill told him almost apologetically as she bound him, “you’ve committed assault and kidnapping.” The unresistating young man grunted in reply, his head bowed in shame. “But I’ll tell you one thing, son,” the usually hard boiled female PI added with a slight catch in her throat, “right now, your mom woukd be proud of you. Billy slightly inclined his head in acknowledgement. “Come on. Let’s go.” Jill said and pulled her young captive towards the door.

Heroine Cop Foils Bank Robbery and Arrests Whole Gang!
In the 1950's, with no portable radio to call for back up, Patricia "Casey" Jones of the NYPD Policewomen's Bureau arrested four bank robbers by herself! Realizing that she only had one pair of handcuffs, she forced the men to lie on the floor prone with their arms interlocked behind them, and restrained each man's wrists with his own leather belt. She then marched the men to the nearest police station, five blocks away. One can only imagine the humiliation the four burly men felt--paraded in the street linked together, hands behind their backs, having been arrested and taken prisoner by a single policewoman! She aimed her Smith and Wesson service revolver at them and barked orders: "Forward march! Halt! Right turn! Left turn!" As they obeyed her commands the men walked with their heads hung low, with one man openly weeping!

EXHIBIT #8 (2022)
Tumblr media
This starts off in 1999 with someone sneaking up with a videocamera and watching a teenage boy playing with a little girl.  We then see an unknown man dragging the boy away by the air.
At first I thought this was a documentary on the current state of Dutch politics, but it’s actually a Dutch found footage horror movie!  Oops!
We join Elias, a Spanish dude living in the Netherlands who is making a documentary about Aisha.  Aisha and her brother, Adin, arrived in the country as refugees from Bosnia, and Adin shortly thereafter disappeared.  She and Elias go to the policestation.  An officer seems less than interested in helping her.  The duo then get in touch with Karl, who works at the refugee center where Aisha and her brother spent time.  Karls wants to help Aisha, so he invites them back to the refugee center to talk to its director, Robert.
Tumblr media
Aisha has some misgivings about visiting the center, because of the bad associations she has with the place, but she decides to go.  They drive across the vast distances of the Netherlands and check into a hotel near the refugee center.  Whilst Elias films some B-roll and talks with Aisha on a balcony, someone is across the street and filming them!  Then, whilst they are sleeping, someone peeks in the window and takes their picture!  I am slightly spooked.
The next day they visit the center.  Karl greets them warmly, but a strange woman tries to tell them something in a foreign language.  We see some B-roll of the center, and then Aisha and Elias get to talk to Robert, the director.  But before that we see Robert, the director, seemingly watching the very footage that we are now viewing!  He yells at the person filming him, and then we cut back to the refugee center, where Robert shows them around the center but eventually says he doesn’t know anything about Adin’s disappearance.  Elias becomes indignant and starts pointing at Robert, who suddenly jumps at him and bites him!  Some dudes separate them, and Robert looks at the security camera and winks.
Aisha and Elias are upset, but Elias realizes that Robert is still mic’ed up from the interview.  They hear him calling someone, and Elias gets his drone and flies around it around the building.  Robert is on the phone talking about one Marcussen.  Aisha internet searches the name and comes up with someone who was arrested in relation to some local disappearances!  They head over to the police station, but a woman says their old records burned in a fire.  She has a flier from when Adin disappears, and she delivers a casual slight against Aisha.  Aisha lets it go, but Elias presses her on the need to confront microagressions.
We then cut back to 1999, where someone with a videocamera sneaks into Adin’s room and watches him whilst he sleeps.
Back in the present, Elias is flying his drone, but it suddenly crashes.  Someone watches as the searches for it in a nearby field.  Aisha and Elias then call Karl, the nice man who works at the refugee center.  They mention Marcussen, and he tells him to meet him later.  When they meet, he says the policewoman told him that those files about Marcussen had been stolen, and she suspected Robert, the refugee center director!  The next day Aisha and Robert decide to do some investigating, and they sneak into Robert’s house!  They find a folder labeled “Marcussen,” inside of which is a VHS tape.  They then find a room with a single chair facing a camera, plastic sheets under that chair, and a bloody apron.  Basically, a murder room from “Hostel” (2005).  They freak out and flee the house, but a security camera watches them.
Tumblr media
The pair look for a VHS player at a local store, but the eccentric shopkeep has none.  After some debate, they decide to ask Karl for help again.  They go to his house, and he shows them the security cam footage from Robert’s house.  He has no VHS player.
We then abruptly cut to another scene, where Robert has Elias tied to a chair.  Robert praises Elias, because he edited the film, for free!  He then stabs Elias to death with a knife.  He dumps the body on the floor, throws the knife at his, and says, “for you, it’s a wrap!”  People laugh and clap.  We then scroll the film back to the previous scene, in Karl’s house.  He gives them the keys to the refugee center.  They sneak in that very night and head straight to Robert’s office.  In his desk, they find a folder with Adin’s name on it!  They rush out.  We switch to a security camera, and we see Robert step out from behind a curtain.  He smiles at the security camera and turns it off.
Back in the hotel room, Aisha is going through the file, which details various local disappearances, including the woman at the refugee center who spoke to her a foreign language.  Elias cues up the footage, and they use a Google app to translate her words, which were a warning!  The duo decide to leave immediately, because it’s suddenly morning.  They check out of the hotel, but almost immediately return because their car won’t start!  The receptionist tells them about a bus, which is coming soon.  (I love the Netherlands for its public transportation.)
Tumblr media
Unfortunately, as they’re waiting for the bus, Elias gets a signal from his missing drone, which is a nearby stand of trees.  The pair move closer, and they see Karl with some men.  One of the men bonks Karl on the head!  Elias wants to leave and call the police, but Aisha convinces him that they have to help.  They follow the strange men’s truck to a house in the forest.  They enter the forest and find a ladder descending into a tunnel.  The tunnel leads to a room where they see Karl lying on the floor.  There is also a VHS player.  Elias pops in the tape they found, and projected on the wall they see the video we started with, of Adin being watched in the forest.  Aisha smiles with happiness, but then we see the boy being dragged away by a strange man.  We then see Adin in a chair, and a man comes and hangs him, killing him.  Aisha watches in horror and Elias runs away.  Aisha finally flees and runs back to the hotel, but the asshole receptionist drugs her and a guy drags her away.  In the basement room, the “unconscious” Karl stands to his feet.  He’s fine.
Tumblr media
Next we see that Karl has Aisha tied up.  He’s asking her why she wanted to make her documentary.  After a brief struggle, he then drugs her and looks at the camera and says, “and cut!”  We then see some credits, with Karl as the “director” and Robert as the “producer,” and Elias is listed as the “camera/sound/edit.”  Robert (the refugee center director), Karl, and the local policewoman come on stage and praise Karl.  Karl, standing over Elias’s body, praises the various townspeople, such as the asshole receptionist, for their assistance.  He then thanks the mysterious Marussen, who seems to the spiritual father of this group of freaks.  They then bring out Aisha.  She sees Elias’s body and freaks out.  It's clear that they intend to strangle her to death, but she grabs the knife the Robert previously dropped.  She jumps up and stabs Marcussen in the eye!  Then she slashes Karl’s throat!  She flees the room and locks everyone inside.  She’s about to leave, but instead she starts a fire to kill everyone!
THEN we cut to a courtroom, where we have been watching the entire show as part of the prosecution of Aisha for burning many people to death.  “Exhibit #8” refers to the movie as an item of evidence.  Aisha addresses the court and says, “But I do believe my crime, for which I am here today, may have saved the lives of countless others.  But I know from experience that sometimes when you don’t do what is needed, nobody else will.”  She is found guilty because, well, she is, technically.  A reporter talks about the news, and then we pull back to see that people are discussing the news via a livestream ("Dogechat," fortunately, and not Twitch).  “Great movie!” someone says.  “The ending sucks though.”  Others, however, are incensed, not at the Dutch murder club, but at Aisha!  “The film has inspired me and many more likeminded people.  Andreas, Robert and Karl are true artists and their work will be continued.”  “Sooo…if we get rid of some scum that nobody cares about it’s a crime…but when she kills 9 people it’s justified??”  The viewers start to look over Elias’s footage, and with the help of Google Maps, locate Aisha’s Rotterdam apartment within a matter of seconds.
Tumblr media
This was…not bad!  Most “found footage” movies are about supernatural spooks, such as aliens or witches or ghosts, but the horror here is very human.  This movie ties in the plight of refugees with growing European xenophobia and combines the two with maybe a smidge of the European male tendency to create murder dungeons.  I felt a slight unease following the trail of a missing brother, as it felt a bit too real, but I recognized vibes of “8 MM” (1999) and “Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” (2009) and (2011).  This isn’t quite those two films, but it’s solid entry into the realistic end of the “found footage” genre.

I love this pic of what I think is a Russian transport policewoman with a prisoner she has arrested. It is an image of almost effortless public female power as the cop seems lost in thought, possibly thinking about what she’ll be wearing to the movies tonight; what meal she should make for her boyfriend, how she is going to make the rent this month without overtime…
Meanwhile, her male captive, almost contemptuously cuffed to her left wrist looks despondent and humiliated and also filled with thoughts, but ones probably of misery, shame and captivity rather than the possibilities going through his captress’ mind.
