I played the first Bokura wa Kaseki HOLDER using a dictionary and my very very limited Japanese and I want to add context here that this is the game at its most hinged and normal.

I have no idea what got changed between the English and Japanese releases, but there's a *lot* going on in this Jurassic Park x Pokemon fever dream.

Your uncle, Dr. Grant, yes that Dr. Grant, invites you to his island theme park to collect and revive fossils. This involves a surprisingly detailed excavation and cleaning minigame where you have to hammer and drill and literally blow on your DS to clear away rock dust, which rewards you with your own roster of pet dinosaurs.

You use these dinosaurs to battle your rival, a luchador, a ghost pirate who lives underwater, and other trainers.

At one point you go on a date with a dinosaur lady, who is as old as the dinosaurs, and who is part of the advanced spacefaring race that lives outside of time and created the dinosaurs, and then in the end you fight Galactus.

Please let this game catch on here. The whole thing felt like a hallucination and I would love to not be the only person who experienced it.

the pokemon suing palworld thing is kind of crazy to me because when the pokemon company put out that statement about "investigating" palworld like a year ago or whatever i sincerely thought that was their way of telling their fans to STFU because they usually do NOTTT make statements or provide warnings before they go on copyright rampages

but i guess they really were investigating... all of their ways they have to legally fuck people over. because when TF have they used patent infringement before

Upon opening the package, it's... Oh, it's a lot of baby clothes.

It was as if his squinting slowly changed tone somehow. From slightly jolly in acknowledgement of the holiday and this......almost 'childlike' being? Pokemonlike? Before it became more absurdly apparent that it was Not. "Who......are you?" And how did it sound so gentle and yet, seething with rage bubbling up underneath?

Well, no matter. A gift horse is a gift horse, and open the gift he shall.

Oh. This is worse, and somehow better. The perfect gift, so much so that it seemed like this was a creep. "How very kind of you." The tone gentle enough to hide the full extent of appreciation, these were so cute....

I don't think it's surprising that the fandom that justified Dexit and mindlessly parroted Gamefreak's claim that they "couldn't just use the 3DS models" would also defend Palworld. And to be clear, Gamefreak very proveably did just reuse models from the 3DS games; we know this because the geometry is identical. It's the same method currently being used to pin down which models Palworld stole.

By the looks of things, they often took pieces of models and just frankensteined them together. Nintendo very likely would have a case against Palworld, and while previously I didn't think they should sue over design similarities and inspiration, this isn't about that anymore. This is theft, and it shouldn't be supported.

There's plenty of great fangames out there that don't fucking steal shit. If you must play a Pokemonlike, play one of those and don't support Palworld.

pokemonlike creature collection game where the focus is on research and bonding with your beasts instead of battling and collecting them i've never cared for the competitive aspects of pokemon so for me a game that lets you get to know your creatures as individuals and document their behavior would be a dream come true
