So here me out

Ash isn't the main character but he's in the anime as a recurring character

Kinda like Cynthia in journeys

Or like the side characters in past series like Hunter J or Professors or etc where they appear for an episode that kind relates to their side plot but not anything main plot wise

Maybe Ash is there so he can do one specific thing like maybe a tutorial for Terastal for Liko and Roy while he does a side plot of saving a Pokemon

Then like 45 episodes later he comes back gives another trick to them about Terastal while preventing a team rocket attack

Then like another 20 episodes Ash comes and concludes the terastal lessons with maybe a raid battle

So like 3 appearances that keep him in the anime, he is nowhere near a side character let alone the main character but he has a connection to the Pokemon anime still

Kinda like whenever you see an old character in the new series, Joseph Joestar in the third Jojo’s, now retroactively seeing Obiwan Yoda, etc in the original trilogy of star wars, naruto characters in boruto, etc doesn't take too much away from the main cast

The other idea is the idea mostly spread is the Yugioh GX handling of the new main character

Where first episode Jaden runs into an older Yugi but they hide his face but the hair and everything gives him away

And Yugi passes the baton to Jaden

Then at the end of GX they duel thanks to magic

So it could be like that Ash gives Liko or Roy something passing the baton and by the end maybe year's from now they battle to test Liko or Roy

Also if you can find the artists for the Ash Liko arts as I saw it on a meme page

The year 2023 has arrived, and marks a new beginning for the Pokémon anime in the coming spring. Ash and his Pikachu have travelled the world for 25+ years, and are now closer to achieving the dream of being Pokémon Master.

Thank you both for the many adventures, you will be missed. I wish the anime team the best for their future stories.

I have no idea if this opinion is unpopular or not but honestly? I hope that the new Pokemon anime protagonists aren’t related to anyone prior to the series, not even offspring.

Don’t get me wrong, its fun theorize that girl could be Ash’s kid and the mother is one of the female companions from before. I get it, I really do. But I actually want her, along with the boy, to be their own protagonists, y’ know? I mean, while I think its a slim chance and I do think people might be reaching a bit in all shipping departments, if she does happen to be the offspring of an Ash ship then cool. I’m fine with that. But I would rather them be protagonists without a prior character being associated with them by blood or otherwise, if that makes sense.

Sorry if this rustles some jimmies, just wanted to give my thoughts on the whole thing sjdhskjdhsk

I love how they've already given Liko an internal conflict that's so different from not just Ash, but most protagonists we've had in Pokemon so far. We've had characters be nervous before, and who've had difficulties socializing in their past, but I don't think any of them responded to it the way Liko does.

She's not super animated when it comes to her anxieties, either, which is kind of refreshing in a way. I feel like there's a tendency to make these sorts of characters so loud and obvious about their fears that it sometimes becomes comical, and while I don't have an issue with that, it's nice to see this more grounded take on it, too.

Because like... anxiety isn't always visible. Liko clearly has a lot going on in her head at any given moment, but she doesn't outwardly express herself very much. And as a result, people reportedly have a hard time understanding her.

And that's just really cool to see in the protagonist of this kind of series - one that has such a bright, loud energy to it. Sure, Liko will probably develop to have a similar energy to her, but her starting place is fundamentally different from what we've seen before, and that's exciting to see play out. I'm already looking forward to seeing more of her!

AFTG Competitive Pokemon AU

these are just some general notes that I have.

Neil played in junior competitive tournaments before going on the run with Mary.

Kevin lived in Japan with Riko, and both of them competed throughout high school.

Kevin beat Riko once, and Riko still broke his hand. Kevin then left to go live with Wymack.

Nicky has never played pokemon before but likes watching Andrew play because its one of the few times that he sees his cousin be relaxed and content.

Aaron used to play when he was younger but grew out of playing.

Andrew didn't get to play as a kid (who would have bought him the games?)

He did, however, watch some of the bio kids of the fosters he stayed with play.

Aaron gave Andrew his old Gameboy and copy of Emerald when Andrew went to live with him (as a peace offering).

Nicky's favorite pokemon is Roserade.

Aaron's favorite pokemon growing up with Seviper

Neil's favorite pokemon are darumaka, mareep, and jirachi

Andrew's favorite pokemon are espeon, zangoose, and carnavine

Dan's favorite pokemon is Medicham, and she has won regionals twice.

Duke Thomas hcs

- he has literally no idea what he wants to do when hes older, part of him wants to be a social worker like his mum, or a paleontologist, or a film director, but he kinda flips between possible careers every month or so. (rn its poet)

- he goes to see local bands all the time, around one a week, most of the time with the other we are robin kids (or the robin-squad as they’ve been lovingly nicknamed), Riko, Izzy, Dax and Dre. And he always tries to make Dax’s bands shows when ever they get gigs

- hes actually in a poly relationship with the rest of the robin-squad. It started with Duke and Izzy then Riko joined and Dax and Dre who were already in a relationship joining once Dre had stopped being emotionally constipated

- Duke, Steph and Babs have been banned from being on trivia teams together because they always win by a landslide.

- Dax has always been weird about Duke being fostered by Bruce and avoids going to the manor at all costs, Duke knows why but hes not going to mention it until Dax feels comfortable.

- of all his partners he had the worst relationship with Dre, after the constant fighting while in the we are robin movement together they tried to avoid each other and at least be civil while in their relationship. Eventually their other partners caught on and started trying to get them together. It took a while but one day Duke came over with a rocky dvd and said ‘you like boxing, I like films, d’ya wanna just see if we can go the whole movie without fighting??’.

- The next day all of their partners phone wallpapers were changed to a photo of Duke leaning against Dre's shoulder, both asleep with the rocky credits playing in the background.

- Duke has a list in his notes app labeled ‘shit list’ number one is Izzy's brother, two is joker, three gnomon and for a brief period of time number four was Dick but they have since made up (via a pokemon cards game)

- Cass was the first person Duke introduced his partners to in the family. shes probably the person hes closest too of all the bats and the first one he considered family.

- after a really annoying case or a busy week Duke and Cass will meet on the tallest building in Gotham and just sit together, talking, watching the sunset, sharing the blackmail on their siblings, or just hanging out on a tall building with some pastries (Duke usually gets a danish while Cass gets a chocolate croissant)

Ash not being gone forever doesn't undermine MPM

So in the recent magazine thing thanks to Dogasu translations we got some information regarding Ash

A lot of people took away that since Ash might pop up again that it makes these last episodes pointless

But I didn't think that was the case

Not referring to the people like me that thought that even if as a passing a torch episode that Ash would make a cameo in the future

(But for all those that thought Ash would be Liko’s dad or something then you're hypocrites lol as that basically means you thought you would see him again even if older) jk

But outside of that for the people that just thought he wouldn't appear again at all since Ash would be “finished”

Ash popping up doesn't demean his ending

MPM isn't done yet but it seems clear that we're going on this journey to have a proper understanding of what it means to be a Pokemon Master at least to Ash

And when that's clear we don't have to follow Ash anymore whether he is or isn't one by the end of the 11 episodes

So when we see him later as a special guest character, side character, etc...

It'll be either as a character still working to be a Pokemon master

And we have seen what the process is like (the past 25 years of the series would just continue in the background)

Or it'll be as Pokemon Master Ash

And since we saw him reach this point we get a glimpse of him being this mentor/more experienced trainer we don't have to follow anymore since he achieved his dream

If we're going to see him again why stop him being the lead?

Just have Liko and Roy be the new “Girl” and “Brock” (or more similarly Goh and Chloe) and just reduce Ash’s role as they already did that in Journeys

First, I think if they did keep Ash then that would have happened as so far it seems Roy is doing the catching part of Pokemon and Liko is doing the battling so Ash could have filled in the knowledge/experience part of the usual group dynamic

But the general thought is that, what do you do with Ash now after all this...

Ignoring the pre journeys stuff like being the Alola region champion

Being the literal best of the best after the Masters 8 tournament... How do you top that?

Now they could find a way but at that point would people be as interested?

As you could say a similar thing happened with Gen 5

As not even including the Snivy thing, Ash went from battling legendaries to struggling against gym leaders

And a lot of fans disliked Gen 5 for that

And this would be that on a larger scale as even if there's a more justifiable reason Ash loses or struggles it would still get backlash

People were already freaking out that he lost to Misty in the battle in MPM episode

So yeah I just think a future appearance of Ash doesn't make MPM useless if anything it's more equivalent to when we have seen the old characters in journeys
