In the ORAS demo, all pokemon are shiny locked. Except for the middle evolution starters, which you can only get on the first adventure. As this was an error, there are no shiny models in the game since you shouldn’t be able to get them. Basically making it possible to get a shiny which sparkles like normal but looks 100% normal. You do not get to keep this shiny
There’s a shiny hunter called AbsolBlogsPokemon who actually soft resets for a shiny marshtomp in this way and then levels it up to level 100, if you want to see it for yourself

My crazy Pokemon conspiracy theory is that Orlando, the player character from the ORAS demo, is a different character from Brendan because May is still May in the demo so if Orlando was supposed to be Brendan he could have been called Brendan but he's not therefor he's his own separate character.

Hey, are there any further concept art of other prototype Mega designs or Gen6 Pokemon? :0 I ask since I thought it was cool to see the designing process for the Mega Kanto starters, Mewtwo and (to a lesser extent) Sceptile, but I'm really curious to see if there had been some unused designs for say Mega Latios/Latias and some others?
Apologies, this leak came at a good time so it really helped by distracting me with learning more about the design process of older titles
(I do wish we had been able to see older builds/stuff prior to Nov 2001 of Ruby/Sapphire so we'd be able to see certain design choices since Nov 2001 build was when they were in the middle of starting to overwrite mons(this.. does also tie back into the Eon duo, I wonder if/when exactly they decided to come up with them/their predecessor after deciding to change 'Latiken'/Elhawk(which we know is for sure Blaziken's predecessor, but unsure if part of Elhawk became the Eon Duo as well, hence my curiosity)
Hello fellow Mega Appreciator
Megas are the best gimmick and GF tried to kill them but so many spinoff games kept bringing them back because THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN WE FUCKING LOVE MEGAS!!!
To answer your question: there's a lot of XY stuff such as concept and character design sheets that are yet to be uncovered--we THINK there are no more megas with models, at least not from XY, BUT there are probably a good handful that have concept art that we haven't gotten to yet and that isn't even counting ORAS becauuuse~
Currently in the leak source server we are part 1 of 29 of a massive ORAS data dump meaning you gotta download all 29 parts, put them together with 7zip, and then there will be around THREE HUNDRED (300) GIGABYTES to sift through so I would bet you that there's tons of of more art, concepts, and builds that are gonna blow our socks off including lots of amazing megas that WE WERE ROBBED OF ; ^ ; It was mentioned in interviews forever ago that Flygon was going to get a Mega but they couldn't decide on a design so there's no doubt going to be sketches in there of Mega Flygon concepts!!
Also fun fact Mega Jynx has a cry that was datamined back in 2020 that you can listen to here and the leaks re-confirmed that Jynx was set to get a Mega however it's strange she has a mega cry and yet no model--maybe this huge ORAS dump will have mega models after all!
I'm with on you wishing we could see more from Gen 3 and also I am ON MY KNEES PRAYING for a Gorochu front sprite! We NEED him!!!
(It really seems like they just didn't keep early builds Gen 3 and prior so it's a miracle the Space World demo got salvaged with all of the invaluable data on it I'm just guessing but I bet Elhawk was created first because when we look at beta Torchic with it's little ear wings that didn't get translated to Elhawk at all. There's still so much data to come and the leaker didn't even sift through everything before they started uploading so here's hoping these upcoming 300 gigs have a whole other treasure trove of goodies!!)

Have we ever had a leak-free Pokémon game since at least Gen5? (Not counting when the game was actually officially out in Japan.)
Like, I wasn't on much in 2013, back when XY came out, but I remember Greninja, Hawlucha, and some story spoilers leaking reliably. 2014 and 2016 had the ORAS and SM demos that got datamined. The RR spoilers came out months in advance, and then the game dropped a week or so early. LGPE had SO many leaks, including a shot of the player riding Lapras that came out before the game was even ever announced. SwSh had the Affleck leak that spoiled a ton of information early. People also got ahold of BDSP and SV early too, and now there's ILCA fucking up and including the DLC Pokemon in (ig) some update they did, since the models shown were definitely HOME models.

I just finished: Cristales!
Cristales is a game I was looking forward to since playing the demo, an RPG with a focus on time travel mechanics in both combat and out of it. The triangle that surrounds you most of the game seemed like an elegant way of showing the past and future, also letting you send a cute little frog with a top hat through to either side to do things for you, and the way you could you use time travel in combat, for example sending someone into the future wet so their armour becomes rusted, seemed like it had a lot of promise. Sadly, the demo largely showed the extent of the games exploration of these mechanics.
The game is generally a bit fairly standard RPG - no that that's really a terrible thing! I like standard RPGs. However if you were particularly excited for what they were going to do with the time mechanics then you may be disappointed, the puzzle mechanics in a lot of the game are fine, but there not really used that much and all the puzzles are basically the same thing. Being able to see into the future and the past isn't actually all that interesting - generally it just shows a slightly nicer place in the past and a decrepit place in the future. You can usually change things in each place so that the future is a bit better, which is kind of cool, but it's nothing special.
Combat on the other hand in a lot of places ignores the time travel mechanics. A lot of bosses the time travel is useless - either you cant use it all, you can and it does nothing, or it simply buffs them. Perhaps there are some secret methods to use this effectively in more places I missed but they certainly weren't apparent or necessary to complete the game quite easily. Generally the time travel mechanics are used to shift an enemy into one of their 3 states that is most easily defeated, often that means shifting them to the past, but sometimes their future state is weakest, a lot of the time they're all pretty much the same. I certainly discovered nothing similar to the rust mechanic in the demo while playing the full game.
However, whilst the game certainly could have expanded on the mechanic more, the game does feel fairly substantial, which often isn't true for games with these kinds of gimmicks. It's about 20 hours of content, and the combat system on the whole is fairly decent. The characters are all really fun to play with and all feel very distinctive. Apart from the main character, who aside from time travel mostly is a support character who focuses a lot on healing which I found pretty cool considering healing characters aren't usually the protaganist, used a robot guy who could move enemies from one side of the screen and ora ora-ing the enemies, and another character who focused on randomised moves - their weapon of choice being a bag that they throw random items out of.
The main thing that stops the game from excelling is a lack of general polish. You will likely see the above loading screen a lot, as it's the only transitional animation in the game, used when moving between areas, loading cutscenes or going in to random encounters. And yes - the game has random encounters, something not even Pokemon does anymore because almost everyone has decided that they're just not good. The game also lacks a lot of animation detail in other places, and the worst part is the lack of sound effects for so much of the game. Most attacks are effectively silent. I can imagine this game really being great if there was some sort of remaster or directors cut that polished a lot of the issues up, but as it stands the game feels a bit unfinished.
Grade: C
Significance: 2/3 - I think the time travel mechanics are still notable enough even if they aren't really explored.

Yikes I got a bit behind!
December Pokemon Challenge: Day 20
Favorite Gen 2 Pokémon: Cyndaquil
It was my very first Pokémon, back in Crystal before I had any idea what I was doing. But I knew my little guy could just set everything on fire and for whatever reason Smokescreen seemed to be my good luck charm since even though it did “nothing” I always won battles I used it in. But even now I still love Cyndaquil’s design and its portrayal in the anime. I especially love that it got a little extra recognition in Legends Arceus, even getting a regional evolution!
December Pokemon Challenge: Day 21
Favorite Gen 3 Pokémon: Ludicolo (other than Camerupt)
Water/Grass is a neat typing to begin with, so I always thought the Lotad line was fun. But when I played through Alpha Sapphire I decided I wasn’t feeling any of the Hoenn starters since I had played the ORAS demo nonstop, so I picked Lotad as my starter since I’d never used it before. Great choice, absolutely amazing starter! I had no problem keeping my “starter” on my team the whole game and really felt like it added to the team dynamic, not just an obligation like starters can tend to become. By the end of the game I had this powerful Ludicolo with powerful water moves AND grass draining moves and rolled into one pokemon. And there is no greater feeling than saying “time to pull out the big guns” and then sending out this derp who DANCES NONSTOP as it one-shots everything. Such a fantastic pokemon I will always appreciate!
December Pokemon Challenge: Day 22
Favorite Gen 4 Pokémon: Munchlax (other than Magnezone)
The stupid anime made me so sure Munchlax was a Hoenn pokemon, so I have hundreds of Snorlax eggs in Sapphire. I thought it was just a like 1/50 chance a Munchlax would hatch. Yes, I was young and stupid but also WHY DID THEY HAVE MUCHLAX IN THE ANIME THE ENTIRE TIME??? Like, Togepi didn’t show up until gen 2 was about to come out, I think the Lucario movie was right before gen 4 and probably a couple other examples. But no, Munchlax was in the hoenn anime almost the entire time. Rude! Munchlax is a very cute Pokémon and had SO much personality in the anime, it is cruel that it wasn’t in Hoenn, was the RAREST Pokémon in Diamond and Pearl, and you had to buy an expensive incense to breed Snorlax. Why lock such a sweet (and honestly, not that strong) pokemon behind so many walls?

POKEMON ESHOP THINGS TO DO BEFORE ESHOP SHUTS DOWN IN 2023 I THINK: (plus small ending bit)
1: on the eshop you can buy the digital copies of
x/y or/as s/m us/um
and more importantly: the digital console shit ports for g/s/c and r/b/y
and spinoff games detective pikachu, super mystery dungeon, pokemon battle trozei, gates to infinity, pokemon rumble blast, pokedex 3d pro, pokemon art academy
if you want to buy any of these games it might be better for you to do that now instead of paying scalper prices online.
2: free downloads
you can download the following games for no cost
pokemon picross, pokemon rumble world, pokemon shuffle
if you have the blocks, any of these could be fun to try
3: must-grabs
things you absolutely should grab before the eshop closes:
pokemon dream radar.
available for very cheap, this is the only way to get thundurus/landorus/tornadus in b/w2 and a good source of items, a few extra ledgendaries if you have 4th gen games, and most important, hidden ability pokemon. VERY valuable since the discontinuing of the dream world
pokemon bank/poke transporter
idk if you have to pay to download it but i think you do for poke transporter. while we dont know exactly what the situation will be with pokemon bank after the eshop closure, just buying a 1-month subscription and grabbing poke transporter might be worth it in the long run. better safe than sorry.
pokemon sun/moon demo
this is the only way to get ash-greninja in s/m and us/um. a free download, (though you will need an account) and defo worth grabbing. even if you don’t want it right now, you should still consider getting it before it’s gone for good. the oras demo is also available with a free mega glalie, but that’s less important as mega glalie is available in the games while ash greninja can only be caught in the demo.
small addendum:
that’s all i have to say abt pokemon but just as a small reminder that if there are more non-pokemon games you want to play that saw little/no physical release, now would be a good time to buy. a game i would recommend HEAVILY is yo-kai watch 3, a SUPER good game in the vein of pokemon that i would say is even better. honestly, i’d recommend the entire series, but those are available easily later through physical copies but i know from experience that 3′s physical release was EXTREMELY limited, and cost (THE CHEAPEST I COULD FIND) 499.00 nowadays and 300.00 at the time i was originally searching. (3 months after the fukin thing released) it’s a bit more pricey than the 3ds pokemons 70 bucks if i remember right, but with pokemon being an 80$ game nowadays, that’s a super good price in my opinion. honestly i’d pay like 150 bucks for it, and you should totally try this super cool game if it piques your interest at all.
that’s all from me, happy shopping!
and if you can spare the time, consider reblogging and spreading the news around the communnity! missing out on stiff like this really sucks.(i would know :,)
EDIT: someone made a cool sheet of games including wii u stuff i didnt mention: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ucexmI3jvFkmW6KKdSRafhyMqIL9B9kF0cTrspqDoZs/edit#gid=1402812438

parsing through steven’s quote page on bulbapedia again to gather evidence for an essay i semi owe someone on instagram (why steven is so fucking ace-coded this will be posted Whenever i make my bullshit self-projecty argument) but today i learned that steven is probably the only pokemon character in existence to actually break the 4th wall outright! in the oras demo when you get items/the special pokemon he says “you can send these to your copy of the full game,” y’know just very normal npc behavior to reference the fact that he’s in a video game demo with very specific knowledge of a “full game” that will exist later on
#not art#cirrus dot text#unless the sm demo had text like this too but my mind has entirely blocked out gen 7#steven is canonically the most powerful champion in the series#not in terms of that overdone RANKING ALL THE CHAMPIONS TEAMS IN COMP thing#but because he's aware he's a character in a video game and that's honestly more scary than it has any right to be#pov: you are playing oras and steven looks at the camera pulls out a gun and says no transferring items after your demo of life ends

Special Demos available on the 3DS eShop
By “Special Demos”, I mean “unlimited use”. Demos on the 3DS (and probably also the Wii U) usually have a limit as to how many times you can open them. Searching “Special demo” on the 3DS eShop shows me demos that don’t have this limit.
There’s the Pokemon ORAS Special Demo, the Sun and Moon Special Demo, Puzzle and Dragons Z + Puzzle and Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition Special Demo, the Detective Pikachu Special Demo, the Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate Special Demo, the WarioWare Gold Special Demo, and the Monster Hunter Generations Special Demo. The only one of those I don’t have on my SD Card is Monster Hunter Generations.
Why did I get all those demos? Because the 3DS’ (and Wii U’s) eShop will be shut down in March of 2023 and I want to keep those games forever.

Pokemon Presents 26.2. thoughts
New Snap is looking great. Graphics, designs, gameplay, the new online sharing system... It’s all good, looking forward to the release!
Brilliant Diamond and Sparkling Pearl are exactly what I personally wanted. Out goes the SM/SwSh lanky trainers and poor route design and back into chibis and grid layout we go! YES! The remakes are developed by Ilca - the company behind pokemon home - instead of Gamefreak, which is also good news.
Some issues I have is that it seems to be 1:1 remake with simply updated graphics, instead of a generational upgrade like ORAS was. I doubt it will be compatible with SwSh or that it has any new areas. Updated pokedex, probably not. Expect a fancy emulator version of the originals, and if that’s what you prefer over SwSh type gameplay then you’re in for a treat.
Legends on the other hand.
Remember when the Sun&Moon pre-release footage had framerate issues? The game had those issues too. Remember how pre-release footage of the Wild Area looked like ass and also had framerate issues? Yeah, and then the game released with that exact same look.
Well here we are with Legends now, supposedly being The Big Announcement of the 25th anniversary event but looking like an asset flipped tech demo. Framerate takes a massive dip whenever anything happens on screen, graphics are unacceptably poor, LOD is nonexistent and as mentioned already, the player and pokemon assets are ripped straight from SwSh along with the game engine that was already in use in SM on the 3DS. And we’re supposed to take this as the next big game?
Maybe it’ll be good, who knows at this point. What I’m saying is simply that Legends was not ready for a presentation like this, and the issues I’m seeing have to do with the engine which means simply improving graphics will only make the game lag worse. They would need to start from ground up, but from experience we can say Gamefreak isn’t about to abandon their crappy core engine in order to improve the end product. Always biting more than they can chew.

7. Least Favorite Pokemon gen? 6. Favorite Pokemon gen? 💖
6: Favourite Pokemon Genereation
shit this is hard my top 3 are 4, 5 and 7… gen 4 was my first, gen 5 was the one that little kid me wanted so bad and then got for christmas and 7 is Gay™ I really cant choose but atm it’s 7
7: Least Favourite Pokemon Generation
hands down its gen 6
X and Y’s pacing was shocking, team flare were only good because they were so laughably bad and the games felt like overblown tech demos because the story fell so flat on its face that the climax with Xerneas/Yveltal and then with AZ felt so unsatisfying to me, especially compared to BW and BW2. It feels as if the games were only made to look good and be easy to sell which i guess worked, but i just cant even finish a run of X and Y. Oh, and not to mention how fucking dead easy those games are with the free megas, two starters, the beginning of the slippery slope into constant kanto pandering, the exp share being broken, etc.
ORAS were really good, however but as remakes, the merit that they have mostly falls to gen 3 although they look and sound really nice on the 3DS, its again the same thing with the “ok its basically the same but with overpowered megas and it just looks nicer than the GBA games” Also the running animation doesnt sync to the circle pad very well, its not anchored in the middle of the model which really throws me off as well as the absolute asswipe of a battle frontier with the battle resort with LITERALLY THE BATTLE MAISON RIPPED RIGHT OUT OF KALOS YO THE FUCK DID YOU DO THAT FOR
also the overworld sprites for people in gen 6 looked nasty as fuck
anyway thanks for coming to my ted talk

you know, i’ve made a choice now, which is p big if you know me...
if nintendo are doing one of those “console switches” again, like-- not releasing games to the 3DS anymore in favor of the *sigh* Switch, like they seem to be doing with the upcoming Pokemon-games, i’ve decided that this is where i jump ship
the 3ds is the only one of their consoles i have and i’m sure as shit not gonna buy a new console with every new one that comes along. not that i’ve been precisely ecstatic about new pokemon-games since they made the change to 3D-graphics, but i’ve at least tried them out, and i can even be objective enough to compare the later games to each other (IMO): (SM seemed dumb as fuck to me at first after i played the demo, but ended up being the best of them, XY wasn’t too good writing-wise etc, but it was still a new, original story. which brings me to-- ORAS, which was the worst of them because--well, you know how i get about remakes. though i really liked the more fleshed out secret base-feature, so there’s something)
and truth is, i’m not that hyped up about this new game anyway, so it’s not like i’ll be super sad if there’s not a 3ds-release? i can go either way, tbh. so it feels like i’ve had an epiphany almost... after the inevitable console switch (whenever it comes), bailing on the new content comes naturally to me, and it’s honestly a freeing thought. i’ll stay here in the past, still enjoying the games i have and can play, while you keep it going without me.
this is not me leaving the pokemon-fandom, if you were worried about that or something. just handing over the reigns to all y’all who still wanna keep going, even with new games and consoles

Pokemon omega ruby version differences
NB: For the sake of clarity, we've omitted the remakes such as Leaf Green/Fire Red and Pokemon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire as main entries in these rankings, but they will be mentioned within the main game entries. In Pokemon Omega Ruby, Team Magma will be the primary team you. The biggest alteration between the two versions is the main antagonist team. Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are nearly identical however, there are a few differences. I got the US demo code for ORAS, will it still work (the freebies from the demo) if I use it on an Asian ORAS3. What is the difference between omega Ruby and Ruby Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are nearly identical however, there are a few differences between the two that are larger than most alternate versions. Like usual, two versions of the same game are available.
Of all the Pokemon games, which set comes out on top? Will it be the original Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow with the 151 Pokemon, or something more recent like Pokémon X&Y? Differences between Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. To celebrate the games' launch and the hundreds of new Pokémon, we thought we'd take a look back over the series so far. Read our full Pokémon Sun and Moon review Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are nearly identical however, there are a few differences between the two that are larger than most alternate versions. It's still one of the best-selling game series of all time and the Pokemon Company is just treated us to Pokémon Sun and Moon. Yeah, it says only club nintendo codes are not included on Asian versions but basically identical to US versions. We've had seven generations of Pokémon, more than 20 core titles, at least 30 other side stories and spin-offs, trading cards, anime series, plushies and so on and so forth. This walkthrough will guide you through Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire - in terms of gameplay, there is no difference between them. In Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, Natures also determine which flavor of Pokeblocks a Pokemon may like or hate. With 20 glorious years of Pokémon games now behind us, it's clear that Pikachu and friends are very much here to stay. Like usual, two versions of the same game are available.
