Some art I made for my fanfiction Pokemon: The Delta Chronicles.

These are Serena's main rivals in the story. May will technically be her rival too, but they cross paths outside of contests more often than within them, and May plays more of a mentor role to Serena as a nod to how Ash played a mentor role to May before.

I actually repurposed Zoey's outfit from an old design I originally made for May before I decided to just have May wear the actual contest dress from the games:

I was going to go with a more masc outfit for Zoey, but I thought the combined designs of the male and female costumes from ORAS just looked too cool not to put on her. I think it really suits her pretty well, and still gives off a very masc vibe.

Viktor had always looked up to his parents, and above all to his mother, Sinnoh's Top Coordinator who swept through contests with her Sylveon like it was nobody's business. Of course, he admired his father, too, a skilled Ice Master that crushed his challengers left and right. Aspiring to one day become a coordinator like his mother, but with a special love for ice-types like his father, Viktor takes all the help he can get to one day reach the podium himself.

Meanwhile, Yuuri didn't exactly aspire to become a dragon trainer since the age of three, but he did very much enjoy the company of the dragon Pokémon at the Yu-Topia Akatsuki dragon shelter his parents ran. It was only later when the idea was planted into his head by a visiting Dragon Master, and it was only when he watched junior coordinator Viktor Nikiforov compete in a televised event that Yuuri decided he would take on the Hoenn League challenge when he reached the age of ten.

How else was he going to possibly impress the mesmerizing coordinator one day?

Unbeknownst to Yuuri, he gained said coordinator's attention a lot earlier than he thought he did.

By the way, you can read Pokemon: The Delta Chronicles on AO3, Quotev, or FanFiction Pokemon: The Delta Chronicles is a semi canon-divergent series, meaning that while it does, for the most part, follow the Pokemon anime's continuity, it has some slight differences. For example, Ash, Misty, and Serena are 15, his other female traveling companions prior to SM are 14, characters like Brock and Cilan are 19-20, Max is barely 10, Bonnie is 9, I think you get the picture. Furthermore, I will not be following Pokemon Journeys' canon for Pokemon Contests, because I highly prefer the Contests to have a battle round like they did in the Advanced and DP anime seasons. Serena will be wearing a different outfit than what we saw in the JN anime, and will actually catch more Pokemon than just the ones she caught in Kalos (seriously, why the hell wouldn't she have caught more???)
