Hurt

After years of hiding in the back thoughts being afraid of principles, of being judged. 

Forced to adopt an identity poisonous to my very existence. Everything that I believed in. Everything that I stood for

Forced to take silence in the trunk. I thought, “I almost forgot to exist.” 

My heart torn into a million fragments. I frantically search for each shard careful not to cut myself in the process. 

This feeling, flowing into a brand new me. Excited to see the new day.

That the old me couldn’t bear to,

reach for.
