AKA LOKI’S WHY-THE-FUCK-Y’ALL-HERE GUSH-A-THON

      Guys, what the fuck. I haven’t even been here a year, and I’ve already passed the 300 follower mark (twice if you count the spam blogs who’ve followed me). I’ve never had a blog blow up this fast, and I’ve started a shameful amount of blogs. I’ve never had such a strong positive reaction to a character that I play, either, and the fact that it’s Percy on top of that is just… I don’t have words. He’s so important to me, and the fact that there are people who think of “my Percy” specifically when they see things boggles my mind. 

   This won’t be a huge follow-forever type list, because I am still almost exactly as shy a hobbit as I was when I started this (I don’t even follow 200 blogs), but I’ve never had so many consistent friends through roleplay. 

   I did gush for way too many words though so I’m putting this under a cut.

   First off I always, always have to thank @heartandsolace​, who befriended me on my Tim blog when I was but a wee mun. Seriously, I was a noob baby. Jerry making Will was the push I needed to finally make Percy, after sitting on like three saved URLs for almost as long as I’d been running Tim. I still can’t believe he’s been putting up with me since like late 2014, but he’s one of the best writers I know on any blog of his and I’m honored to call him one of my closest friends. But like, fuck him for getting me into Ajin: Demihuman, there’s not enough fandom to Sustain Me and now I’m pushing it on all my friends.

   With Jerry came @admiralrepairboy​, who opened my eyes to the incredible world of perleo. New followers may not be very familiar with Daniel’s Leo, but that blog is a hilariously wild ride – and the fact that Daniel also writes Damian Wayne is a source of neverending amusement to me. Daniel taught me to love Damian and hate Skype.

   @stygicniron​ was another of my first friends, and good fuckin’ lord. Hilary writes the best Nico that I’ve ever read. She cares so deeply about him as a realistic, growing character. We’ve spent so much time just talking about our characters, discussing headcanons, developing Percy and Nico’s relationship past the already-complex bond they share in the series. She loves her character and she welcomed me into this community without hesitation. 

   If we’re talking welcoming, @titanslayer​ has to make this list as well because god damn. Natasha is one of the warmest, kindest people I’ve met in a long time. She’s so honestly supportive and positive, and she’s not only let me hurt her feelings with plot ideas over and over again, but she’s also never been anything but supportive when I just needed to talk to someone about things entirely unrelated to The Blog™.

   I have to mention my actual daughter @cursedcurios here as well – from laughing about #POCproblems (including the hit single “Stop Guessing My Race” feat. Piper and Percy) that these racially-ambigious half-god kids go through to flailing about beauty and aesthetic to delving into the groundwork that Riordan laid for a really great relationship between Percy and Hazel, Corky’s been a great writing partner and a great friend. I can’t speak highly enough of her Hazel and the amount of thought she puts into writing a truly authentic Southern Black Girl.

   We don’t talk as much as I’d like, but @brokenbow deserves a place here. Khristle has an amazing sense of humor with the way she writes Apollo, both as a god and as a mortal, and her writing is versatile enough to cover both completely different sides of him. I love seeing her on my dash and I love the threads we’ve done here and there exploring Percy’s own relationship with Apollo (and any god tbh that’s honestly the content I live for). God bless pantsless Apollo, long may he reign. 

   Last but certainly not least (just most recent) there’s @colourphone / @wingedpenumbra. Emilia’s a shining example of exactly why I need to break out of my comfort zone more often: I was intimidated by her Ella, and it turns out she was intimidated by me – we didn’t connect until she started Iris and posted a selfie of her fuckin adorable face??? And now it turns out we have so many interests in common and her love for monsters and unique takes on mythological creatures are incredible. We haven’t hit our stride writing yet, but we have a running commentary on snapchat and IM and I can’t wait to develop Percy’s relationships with Ella and Iris. 

And Actually Last, I gotta shout out to all of the fish/shark/ocean blogs I follow. Because honestly, beautiful mutual aside, this blog is my big blue happy place.

Worried..

I have been scared to leave my house since Brexit happened. It might just be me but it felt like the mood at my local Co-op shifted when I walked in yesterday. My city already has a reputation when it comes to racism and intolerance of refugees. This is the same place where Muslims were being attacked after the Paris attacks. But there is also a large majority who are lovely, kind respectful people. I’ve been hearing stories from my friends in London, being told to go back home, someone on twitter called an ambulance for 2 Polish gentlemen who were seriously attacked. If Europeans are being attacked, what about us?! It’s not looking good and I wish I was graduating already so I could move back to London( where it might be safer?? I dunno)

The sad thing is there is a video of a man being interviewed and saying he voted for the poc( Syrians, Iraqis, Africans) to go back. I would not be surprised if a lot of leave voters shared this sentiment. (The POC who voted ‘leave’ have shot themselves in the foot) Ever since moving to UK years ago, I have never felt this worried about my life and well being due to racism, I have always percieved most of the British public to be very tolerant and welcoming. This is new.

The thing about Twerking is...

Black women have been shaking their ass and doing similar dance moves for yearrrrrs. The word “Twerking” is fairly new. We’ve called it many other names. But White people wanna act like its a brand new dance. Then they wanna define it, get it down to a science, criticize it etc. and it’s really not that fucking deep. Being in a room full of white people, and then having one make a racist remark and most of the people in the room looking at you for your response makes me so goddamn angry as a person of color.
