I noticed that I feel way more represented by characters that use they/them rather than by characters that use he/him, even if I use he/him myself

I realized that it's because while, yes, I use masculine pronouns, I do so in a very non-binary, GNC way. Using masculine pronouns for me without acknowledging that I'm non-binary is the same as not using my pronouns at all, because of how deeply intertwined they are

He/him characters are usually binary men. I'm not a binary gender, so that use of he/him that's not related to non-binary gender nonconformity doesn't apply to me

But they/them characters are non-binary, or maybe they're just androgynous, or maybe they're ambiguous on purpose. Whatever they are, they're not binary, and they aren't 'either X or Y'. So even if they don't use the same pronouns as me, I see myself in how they aren't bound to be either a man or a woman.
