UJABDHF I MEAN honestly thats a complicated question bc i get so much more satisfaction when i post longfics (and when multichaptered ones are done, i assume) but it takes so long!!! its equal while im writing tho so i think i prefer long??? idk. if i only wrote long stuff i would never publish anything fucking ever so

Your nighttime walks with Malleus have only gotten longer and more frequent, and you’re not about to complain about that. Even now, well past midnight as he walks you up to the door of Ramshackle, he lingers close and goes slow, clearly attempting to find an excuse to spend more time with you.

What he finds is a rose. He points it out, brilliant crimson stark against a sprawling sea of browning grass; you’re certain he grew it himself, mere seconds ago, but you’re too endeared to point it out when he bends to pick it.

Bidding you closer, he meticulously removes each thorn, thumbs brushing the petals to make it bloom even more prettily before finally turning to tuck it behind your ear.

His fingers are ice against your cheek, dragging a gasp from your lips and making you flinch on instinct. He freezes at the motion, then pulls away swiftly, eyes wide in apology—but you’re quick to catch him, quick to let your hands dart out and grab his.

“Why’re you so cold,” you mutter in concern, dragging them back towards you. They’re larger than your own, but you don’t let that stop you from covering what you can with your palms, hoping your warm breath can handle the rest.

Malleus stands stock-still as you lift his hands to your face and exhale slowly. His hands tense and then relax, his own breath audibly hitching. You let your eyes lift when you hear it and find that he’s staring.

His eyes are locked on your lips, pursed as they’d been to blow upon his hands. You think he hasn’t realized you’ve noticed; as your lips slacken he furrows his brow, eyes going half-lidded.

“What?” you ask. His brow furrows deeper, and he glances away with the slightest of pouts, looking almost as if caught doing something illicit.

“Nothing,” he says, but as the word passes his lips the wind picks up. Above, and with unnatural haste, clouds gather and snuff out the moon, casting the world between you into further shadow.

You’re not stupid enough to mistake the change in weather. “It’s obviously not nothing.”

“Merely an unwanted thought. It shouldn’t have occurred to me.”

Instead of continuing to push, you take a step forward, easing yourself up on your toes. It brings you chest-to-chest with him, and the proximity—or perhaps the boldness—makes him widen his eyes, an expression that you think looks particularly nice on him. That pout dissolves, lips parting in surprise, and you resist the urge to laugh (not meanly, but affectionately, because for all his haughty demeanor Malleus is starkly easy to fluster and it’s more than charming).

“If you want to kiss me,” you say smoothly, “just ask.”

🍑 If you could make a connection between your favorite character and another work you care about (whether a crossover/fusion or a wonderfully “pretentious” literary reference) what would it be? How would it work?

okay okay theres this taiwanese drama called lost romance right? i have been DYING to do a bakugo fic inspired by that. the plot has the ml being a CEO (classic) and the fl being a romance editor and the two of them ending up in like a shared coma that follows the plot of a book that the fl was editing. very fun, full of like taking romance tropes and turning them on their head in a fun cute way. i thought it'd be a neat idea that can be easily translated to quirk/villain shenanigans and the ml has major bkg vibes LMFAOOOOO but! one bkg longfic at a time (also ajshdbf i think ive mentioned this but. my ayato wip began as a much ado about nothing retelling which very quickly went ENTIRELY off the rails and is very much no longer a much ado about nothing retelling so,,,,, i suppose id be down to retry that! probs w a diff char tho. maybe kuroo? i think kuroo would be a pretty good benedick)

i will be going with pantalone for this one bc i did get another melon and i will use it to talk abt other blorbos pfft but with pantalone!! i think he is a simp 😌 i'm also a big fan of childhood friends with him, just bc i think he's so guarded and so much of an ass now that u Have to have already been a chink in the armor to really get through it. however!!! once u do!!! he is a doter and he throws money at u and he is very much a hopeless romantic. a simp!!! bc what use is a man with money if he doesnt want to waste it all on u 🙄

OKAY I agonized over what fic to give u,,,, and I settled on one of my fave wips: In All Its Bitter Tragedy, a reverse isekai for Chrollo Lucilfer. Its a little darker & more tragic than I tend to write, and I saw that you were thinking about starting hxh for him so! Here u go!

Ok firstly new them? Fucks. I love it, it’s kinda subtly Halloween-y n vampire-y but not overtly so so it can stick around for a while v cool v pretty I love the red

Secondly! I love fics with original love interests JDNDKSN I love fics with original chars in general tbh bc like. Giving the reader a life outside of the characters from the original work rlly fleshes them out so much, it just makes them feel so much more alive and vibrant, and oftentimes when people use other chars from the original work to fill whatever role I find myself going “it’s preposterous to think that the reader would know this person too” (unless there’s an explicit reason) n it ruins my immersion pfft so I’m v much down!!! Tho I’m invested in this specific fic anyway u know that kdnfksnf

exactly exactly you just outlined so much of why i love ocs in reader insert stories! i think it's fun to have canon characters fill roles but sometimes i think it's hard to make it fit, whereas an oc can be more flexible. imo it rlly does add depth to the whole world around it. and i love ocs so,,,yeah. hopefully i can make y'all at least like the oc love interest!!

Like it’s there!!! He sees you smiling at someone and there’s a tugging feeling in his gut and he knows he could drag you away and lock you up for millennia without lifting a finger, and he really does consider it; imagines being the only one who can see you, imagines you with nothing to do but be pampered by him all day, always in his bed or his garden, never having to find you laughing and spending time with anyone else. Nothing to do with yourself but accept his adoration. How much has he given to his people, to the Luofu? Surely he deserves to be selfish with this one thing.

He could collar you without batting an eye. All his, for the rest of your nigh-infinite lives. He likes the thought, he really does.

But that only lasts a millisecond. Because above all else the Arbiter-General Jing Yuan is clever, and he knows the consequences of that line of thought—not that he’d be stopped, not at all, but that you would never truly love him if he went through with it. Sure he’d wear you down eventually but that would never be the same, and he would lose any chance of his genuine affection being returned. And his pride might never recover from that wound.

Sure, he could make you his pet, and he’d find some satisfaction in that. But it would be fleeting. He holds you too highly to want to break you; yes, he deserves to be greedy with you, and that means he doesn’t just want you in his arms. He wants your love, your life, and he wants to earn it honorably. You’re a discerning little thing, giving him a run for his money, but he’d be lying if he said he hated the chase. It’ll make it all the sweeter to win properly.

He needs you to choose him, freely, of your own accord. He needs you to want him even a fraction of how much he wants you, and he needs that desire to be your own.
