wolfpack. aka: if not friend, then why friend-shaped?

"Hey-- uh, Danny?" There's an almost imperceptible tremor in Tucker's voice.

Danny doesn't look up from what he's doing, his pencil scritching across his notebook as he tries to do another quadratic formula question. "Hm."

"What's -- uh -- what's with the dogs?"

He looks up now, and finally sees where Tucker is -- standing in the doorway of his room with an ashy look on his face and a skewed, nervous smile. He's got a white knuckle grip on the doorknob. Sam is wide-eyed behind him, and using him as a partial meat-shield.

Danny looks down to the two giant ghost wolves sprawled next to him lazily. One large green one with his head in Danny's lap, letting him use him as a prop-up for his notebook. Another equally large black one splayed against his hip, sleeping on her side with her head tilted inward to his calf.

Automatically, a grin tilts across Danny's face, and he lifts his notebook up to scratch behind the green one's ears. He opens a lazy eye, one that is bloody red with a ring of yellow around the pupil, before slipping it shut and leaning his head into Danny's touch. "This is Sirius and Procyon," he says, and reaches down to scratch Sirius' belly. "And they're not dogs, they're wolves."

"Great," Tucker says, his voice suddenly much smaller and faint, "Love that distinction."

Sirius makes a great big groan, and Danny's grin widens, his heart swelling with fondness. His hand slips away from her belly, and before he can put his notebook back down, Procyon pushes his head up his lap until his ear is against his stomach, demanding pets now too.

Sam peeks her head up from over Tucker's shoulder, "I think what Tucker's asking here is what are they doing here, Danny."

He shrugs, scratching under Procyon's chin. "They kinda just showed up. I tried sending them back to the Zone, but they keep returning." And they were weirdly intent on just following him around, which is the only reason he gave up on returning them. They weren't causing trouble, and they knew how to hide around the living. Plus, he just loves dogs. "So now I have two wolves living with me."

This, oddly enough, did not do anything to calm Sam and Tucker down. Tucker's mouth purses into a thin line, and he presses the sides of his palms to his lips in prayer. "How have your parents not found out about this?"

Danny wordlessly raises his hand, and his sleeve slides down to reveal a thin chain bracelet hooked around his wrist. He whistles sharply, and both Procyon and Sirius jerk their heads up to look at him, ears pricked up and eyes alert.

Silently, he points to his wrist and rattles it twice, and in unison both wolves stand up and pounce. Instantly, they turn into a respective, opaque black and green mist that swirls around the bracelet and forms into two, flat wolf charms.

Both wolves are posing in the stereotypical wolf howl, with little stars indented on the sides. Procyon's charm has the Canis Minor constellation engraved on it, while Sirius has the Canis Major.

Danny faces Sam and Tucker, and points at his wrist. "Like this."

besides the main duos(Ulf and Wulf, Hal and Stig, Lydia and Ingvar, Thorn and any of the Herons, Jesper and Stefan), which Herons are the closest, and have a friendship no one expects?

edvin? having no Duo™? </3 it's okay i'll make it up to him by (soon ish) posting an art i finished two days ago,,

lydia & jesper have some excellent dynamics according to my brain!

they are just such a Rascal duo. they're sneaky bastards, entire assholes (affectionate) who will bite your hand off if desperate, and they have a sort of mutual understanding about people and solitude that isn't spoken about, but definitely exists. they are also the most likely to shamelessly commit crimes to get what they want (or what they need) and will absolutely collaborate beneath hal's nose and against his direct orders to stay on the fucking ship in order to achieve said subterfuge inconspicuously if they're sure there's benefit to be found. sometimes they exchange sneaking methods — lydia is more forest while jesper is more streets, which are both valuable but not quite interchangeable places to sneak. they don't talk so much aside from aggressive banter (aggressive enough that at the start, some of the herons weren't sure if they genuinely had a problem with each other), but deeply value each other's company. they're the sort of people who you can go to in absolutely misery or with a knife lodged in your side without questions being asked, and that's what both of them prefer most of the time, so they tend to seek each other out.

The perfect thing about esswulf is that they both do the biting. Wulf is more aggressive, but Essek has the sharper teeth. In this particular case, I think Essek is the rotisserie chicken, because Wulf is about the brutality, while Essek is more precise. Essek doesn't black out and destroy, he plans and executes.

Danny, Sam, and Tucker all share one braincell. One that just went on vacation.

A Giw patrol was hunting the trio down.

What else were they meant to do. Not jump in the random natural portal? No they all just convince each others it’s the best option.

Danny can make portals now. Hell maybe wulf was nearby. They were in the woods. He’d left portals open before.

It was probably safe! Better then a continued chase.

Well.

They were somehow seperated. Somehow not in the ghost zone. And was this even there dimension???

Sam was at a lost. Suddenly landing in an alley. In a grim alleyway. She could dig the dark atmosphere. Someplace called Gotham she’s assuming based on the newspaper the Gotham gazette.

Well. If she could handle that ghost prince kidnapping fiasco she could handle this place. Time to cause some trouble.

Tucker wasn’t that concerned about the separation. For now he’d hack into local sites gain some insight. There was no listing of amity anywhere. No doubt Danny would make the news soon enough. He could chill in jump city for now.

Danny. Well Danny was just vibing. He crashed landed on some farm. The two who came up to him were so nice! They gave him pie!! It didn’t even fight him.

He had no idea where they ended up. The vibe was similar to home. He could still make portals easy enough. But he had no idea where to start looking for sam and tucker.

But!! Jon and Martha promised him their son would be able to help! He had connections… apparently. He couldn’t risk the cops. Plus they let him help with the animals!!!!

He is sure that sam and tucker could take care of themselves for a few days. He was apparently out of town.

Jazz for her part. Had been on her way to pick up the three idiots. Only to see them in the distance jump through a portal. Well. She might as well give the Fenton speedster a test drive.

I think that Danny should develop the ability to make portals to the Ghost Zone in the future like Wulf and Clockwork- Dark Danny can, so like, that ability had to come from somewhere between Danny and Vlad -

Plus like? It kinda makes sense too like, he literally (half)died in a portal accident- hell, it’s even one step further than Vlad technically bc it wasn’t even complications of a portal, no, he just straight up half-died In The Portal Via Opening It, So like. If that wouldn’t be perfectly thematic/ on point-

Not sure if other Haladriel shippers saw but the images from the new anime LOTR movie out later this year, "The War of the Rohirrim", the main female hero Hera and the main male villain Wulf are giving major Haladriel vibes!!! LOL 😮 Here's a pic from a tweet from FOF:

Hera is one of Eowyn's ancestors but the headpiece is reminding me of Galadriel. Plus, Wulf is human but reminds me of Halbrand. I was excited about this movie anyway and not sure what their scenes will be like but I'm just getting reminded of Haladriel and enemies to lovers ships so much. LOL 😀

I bet you know Immortal Husbands AU by ghost-chicky. I suggest to expand it with Omegaverse AU, mentioned in sks before (alpha > omega >> beta), Ghost king AU and space fiction.

According to Immortal Husbands AU, halfas age up to only 30 year, and they have to start new life from time to time. Dani was born in their second life. Vlad and Danny were over-warning her to hide her nature from people while she could be relax with ghosts, so, she's always been close to the Ghost Realm. Their daughter's interest and governmental crazy interruptations to the other world didn't let halfas leave Ghost Zone behind for, at least, one life. It has been becoming clearier that they should take the situation in their hands before it's too late. The best way to regulate relations between ghosts & people is to gain political weight. Danny fought with Pariah again, but that time he erased him. According to Ghost Realm laws, he became new Ghost king.

Not revealing his identity, as Phantom the king he entered into negotiations with the earthly government, the result of which were laws regulating movement between worlds and establishing prohibitions on what people in the Ghost Zone cannot do and what ghosts cannot do in the human world. After 2 decades of negotiations Danny finally returned to his normal life with Vlad. Danny visited the Ghost Zone only for issues that Parliament of Supreme Ghosts couldn't resolve without hime. For those movements Danny got for himself and for Dani artefacts, that works like Wulf's claws.

Yes, Vlad could be jealous for Danny's powers but he would come through it.

Halfas keep hidding their nature from the humanity until XXVI century when aliens find the Earth and give an ultimatim: "Become slaves of our cosmic Empire or your planet will be destroyed".

Of course, people are scared to the death. They still don't have weapons to fight back, they even didn't finish terraforming the Mars! Aliens' slavery includes all biopunk horror you possibly can imagine, no one would agree on it. In these times halfas reveal themselves with the idea how to save the part of the humanity: move a part of the Earth to the Ghsot Realm, and the whole Ghost Zone to the.. strong ecto-box! (Box Ghost: (:D My time has come!) Insane, but… it worked.

By that time Anti-ghost shields and costumes, ecto-filter systems was developed enough (thx to the between-worlds tourism) to people could safely live in the Ghost Zone (even without cancerogenic threat!). People quickly learnt to use ectoplasm as energy source. This is how the Space Era for humans had started. Yes, people keep terraforming the Mars but it took even more time to move on this planet. Until that, people will start a war with that aliens but ex-earthlings' warriors are belong to the race of halfa.

Obviously, halfas fit much more for Space. The only thing they need is an oxygen balloon, and even if it cracked they can easily repair it with ecto-glue or something. But people already has the compact oxygen-generating station. And halfas are dangerous weapons themselves, so, they are the best space warriors. However, only with certain genetic sequences a human able to successfully mutate into a halfa, else you die in pain. Plus, it turned out that only ecto-regulation is so strong that only alpha + omega can have kids. Beta is the most frequent for halfas too. Even if it's male and female, but both betas, they're sterile! This is the price.

VladCo is back! :D But this VladEctoScince now. They speciales on the difficult ecto-technology, and if the tech are made to be used in spaceship/open-space, it's an ecto-construction (all from ectoplasm, handmade by Plasmius). Vlad must change his cape to a medical gown.

Probably Vlad and Danny got a son, too, between 200 y.o. and the last day of Earth. Dani still would the traveller of the Ghost Zone while the boy will live near by parents, and under his parents' shadow since the start of teh Space Era.

So I saw War of the Rohirrim and these are my thoughts in no particular order because I have spent my two post-flu remaining braincells trying to teach the subjunctive for 4 hours in a row this morning :

The Crone ! Loved the Crone !!! Don't know if she came with the fortress or what but loved her. I want more old hags in my films.

Olwyn the shield maiden : another great one !! Loved her !! I've been saying for years that we should have more non-nonsense hyper-competent women in charge and she is just that. She knows stuff. She can fight. She can glower. She can mount rescue operations. She can ride a horse. She knows how to be curt and get people to do things. Just put that woman in charge of something important. Frankly if she'd been in charge of the war effort she would probably have had Wulf up by his ear in about 5 minutes and everybody would just have gone back home. Problem solved.

Héra : I was very impressed with the way she dealt with that oliphant. Sure, the watcher in the water was a big piece of luck. But. Taking him to the forest was a very good idea. Well done. The wedding dress scene was iconic. She slayed. That visit to Gandalf could have been a one-line message but she needed an excuse to get away and live her best single life so who am I to criticise it ?

Helm : the film I felt was kinda nice to him because in the book the killing of Frekka does feel like an embush and an execution but other than that I liked him. He should have listened to people around him and was dick to his daughter, his nephew and also Wulf, let's be honest. And never let his twink son go to war. Seriously just send him make sure the hag in the Deep is doing well or something. That baby had no place on a battlefield. I particularly liked the scenes where he "is a wraith", they were beautiful and worked really well I found !!! My son was very nonplussed by the death scene and did not quite understand how someone could be frozen solid with their arm up and a hammer in it to which I kind of agree, but we agreed that it's a legend so that "he was found on the morning undefeated with knees unbent standing up in front of the gate" sounds cooler than "he was found all blue curled up against the door" in the morning. So.

Freca : I you agree to a fist fight with someone nicknamed "Hammerhand" you are either seriously delusional or have a death wish. Either way that was a bad idea. Plus he had evil tattoo so I think we all got the message he was bad news.

Wulf : is a little piece of shit obviously but I also feel was slightly unfairly treated by the film in the sense that he had some genuine grievance against Helm (the exile sentence was a bit much - plus the guy came to see the King expecting today to be his day !! Was going to marry that cool girl and dad would be happy ! And then dad ends up dead and you are exiled and dispossessed and obviously are not going to marry the girl. I would be bitter too), plus at some point he must have been vaguely competent/charismatic since the Hill People who normally have no lord take him as a lord...But we only see him being whiny and petty and consistently ignoring the advice of Targg. He is a piece of shit though.

Targg : "Wulf, don't take the bait !" Man, you know he is going to take the bait. He's been consistently taking the worst strategic decisions possible against your advice for the past hour. We've seen it, you've seen it. How can you not know he is going to take the bait ? Maybe it's time to rethink the whole loyalty to your lord and the line of your lord thing ? Hmm ?

Haleth : he was hot and alas he died, which is a shame because he was hot and also brave. Loved his haircut.

Hama : he died and that was devastating. The death scene was horrible but the most devastating scene is the one just before where he gets off his horse and just waits for death because he knows he is fucked (yes, I know he also takes two of them with his bow but - he is waiting for death). And it was so sad even though even my 8yo could tell by the line "Maybe one day songs will be sung about me" that he was cooked. Poor thing.

Fréaláf : was cute, competent and had good ideas. Shame he is sent away, but the story needed to happen and he looked awesome when he came back wearing Helm's helmet. Will probably make a great king blah blah blah (not a fan of monarchist discourse but it's Tolkien so that's on me).

the orcs were cute and fun !!! I liked them !!!

that wooden bridge was weird and I can't believe for one moment that running down it on a horse at full speed would be a good idea. But Héra looked good doing it so it's fine.

Liked the Mad Max vibes of the Hill People btw with the masks and so on. That was cool. Less cool was the fact that it did feel quite a lot like the blond heroes defending themselves against swarms of brown oriental invaders with a throwaway line by Wulf about how his entire life he's been ostracised for having Dunlending blood and ugh. Can we not ?

Hey Pixel! How have you been?

1. What song makes you feel better?

Well music just calms me down in general, I’ve always just really enjoyed the piano and singing. So you can probably get me to listen to just about anything and I’ll probably be happy.

But let’s see… New Discovery by the Crane Wives and Meteor Shower by Cavetown both have a really nice imagery to them and I appreciate that. Also my roommate writes music and I always love hearing what she’s working on because I know she puts a lot of work into them.

Oh the BotW soundtrack. My absolute adoration for that game might provide a bias but I love it so much.

8. Tag someone (or multiple people) who make you feel good.

I had things to say and it got out of hand, this is not my fault. Also I realized partway through this that a surprisingly large percentage of my mutuals are trying to kill me with their fanfics. “Guys, you have to stop, I can only take so many emotions,” they say, as if they don’t choose which fanfics they read.

@liminal-lesbian | You’ve always left really supportive comments when I posted stuff about my AUs and you’re just a really nice person. It also makes up for the fact that your last fanfic inflicted permanent trauma on me. (Joking on that last part but seriously if you haven’t read her fanfics drop everything you’re doing and go read them now. You could be literally trying to save the world but this takes priority.)

@the-god-of-chaos-himself | You might have an evil alter ego trying to murder me as I type this, but you’re an awesome person to talk to and I enjoy our conversations. (Yes this does imply Dalex is trying to stab me and I’m just typing on my phone, I have ADHD what do you expect?)

10. What's something you’re excited for?

Ooh! I have an example that isn't Amphibia related for once. Epic The Underworld Saga is coming out soon, which yes I am aware you know (because you're the one who cursed me with this interest, and I mean that positively) The music is just so well done and I’m really looking forward to it. The Art of Amphibia is coming out and I need it! Oh also Stardew Valley updated and I’m really looking forward to when the update is available on the switch.

Trainwreck Going off the deep end

Casuals finished last night, plus some detailing extras. The new scanner does wonders and miles better for quality honestly, and the bed light caught the reflective ink I used in her eyes splendidly. Decided against backgrounds/detailed backgrounds for both of the new references to give a chance to show off details without them being muddled against an environment, so we'll get a sense of Floor and that's about it.

Wulf is finally resting after her last foray, minding the tavern and dropping those Universal Truths on people. Waiting for the time her mother Zone nearby yanks that chain again and drags her into those forested depths...
