i will never get over people laughing at octavian's death personally,,, he was SHOT INTO THE AIR!!! thats so painful. all the burns and the impact, plus being flung from a cannon and probably slamming into gaia (literal earth goddess) plus festus (gigantic metal dragon, i bet that HURT) and leo (pretty sure leo was burning)

he was a kid and he was annoying to some people and he was usually antagonized but he didnt deserve to die OR go out in that way. the gods are a thousand times worse than octavian, and apollo told him that he'd be a savior of new rome, but people still justify them. not to mind there are much worse people in the PJO universe (gabe, LUKE)

octavian ily they could never make me hate you EVER. idc what you say he could have been redeemed. did he do bad things? yes. but he was so deeply influenced and the day meeting with leo and the others, in which i remind you octavian literally was watching new rome get blown up (no wonder he was livid, his home was on FIRE).

like come on. octavian is a complex character and people aren't willing to admit that he could've been better and he was just a literal teenager in the sake of hating him because everyone else/pjo characters hate him.

he is such a tragic character imo because he grew up in new rome and all he wanted to do was protect it (and he was highly ambitious and aiming for praetor, i won't deny the fact that he was selfish but that is a quality that can be REDEEMED) and sure the way he went about it was messed up but most of his actions (except killing that one centurion) were justifiable

btw im not saying octavian's like an angel or anything im pretty sure i remember him "killing" a 5th cohort centurion once but then she was revived which . . . what was the point of that?? was it just to like make us hate him more?? huh??? and then was it even ever talked about again?? also yeah he blackmailed hazel thats not good also judging from the wikipedia it only said frank suspected octavian because.. he didn't have his spear?? what?? reminder that there is proof that a lot of pjo characters are unreliable narrators and for all we know octavian could've screwed up somehow and left his spear somewhere (just saying i'd do that too ngl)

also "I am the savior of Rome! I was promised!" i didnt know why but that quote DESTROYED me but now i know that it was because he genuinely believed he was doing the best for new rome and he'd finally have someone's praise and they'd praise him like they praised percy and reyna. pretty sure his mental state was not very good in that scene either and nico and will just let him shoot himself out of an onager on accident. also are we just going to gloss over the fact apollo told him that and encouraged him he was doing the right thing?? of COURSE octavian trusted apollo on that and believed it was the truth; apollo was his ancestor and someone he worshipped as an augur and trusted in for omens and prophecies and allat

yeah. octavian's an asshole. but he was a kid and he couldve been redeemed. then again i am a huge octavian apologist and im not saying you have to have the same opinions as i do also i will not be responding to any asks in my inbox im 2 tired to deal with that!! anyways dont go and insult people or me if you think the opposite thats fine !! i was just bored and found this in my drafts so whats the harm of posting it because im not going to get sent threats over this right,,, right??????

i just binged the entire comic so far and i'm OBSESSED it's so good??? the art is absolutely gorgeous oh my god!! breathtaking backgrounds, snappy expressions/poses, and super dynamic panel arrangements :D i particularly love the way you draw shadow, rouge, and amy (her spines and overalls are perfect)!! and can't forget the details on sonic's markings :3 love how his third eye reacts to what's going on around him!!

as for the story i love seeing sonic come to terms with his werehog form while trying to keep dark gaia's influence/corruption at bay and how it mirrors shadow's history on the ark <3 sonic and shadow in general have wonderful interactions theyre so cute together ahhhh. speaking of shadow DARK SHADOW HELLOOOO SO COOL!!!! plus team dark amy is top tier she and rouge work so well together!!

gaia update!

her next appointment is later today, still monitoring the new tumor before we decide on the next step... sure hope this time chemo ends up being enough, i really dont want her to have to go thru yet another surgery. its a risk every time for an older cat like her. plus its in a difficult spot this time, close to ligaments and stuff. also, and i know its a strange thing to say, in this case her loving me so much actually constitutes something a problem... she fully wakes up the second she hears my voice or smells my presence, when it wouldve been better for her to sleep off the nausea and grogginess for a little longer 😭 but at the same time i dont wanna wait longer to pick her up because i know she'd be very very upset to wake up while i wasn't there. babyyyy

right now shes feeling and looking okay though. she got some anti-inflammatory shots on monday to help with her teefies, cuz her gums had been hurting (probably its cuz her immune system aint doing so hot rn), and it really helped. she ate a LOT yesterday and seemed really content about it. full tummy gaia :) the problem with her and her teeth is that it's kind of a recurring issue, once again probably stemming from her immune system getting kinda overwhelmed, and it makes it hard for her to eat her kibble (even if the bikkies are small, and soaking them isn't an option because she will NOT touch soggy bikkies even if she's very hungry). while id love to just switch her to wet food full time, that makes her poops very soft (very bad news for her and her funny furry pantaloons) and i... dont have the budget for it... i wouldnt give her and amity anything with a vague ingredients list and without stellar reviews, and high quality wet food in the "full meals every day" quantity is just not something i can afford. so she gets a nice spoonful of her favorite wet food (or canned tuna! she loooooves tuna) after taking her meds and thats it. i love that since its a reward for swallowing her pills, and amity gets the wet food too, amity always stands close and bonks gaia beforehand, like she's encouraging her and saying good luck... amity has been very nice to gaia in general lately. i mean she's still a bit of a nuisance to her, just because their personalities clash a little, but shes been trying hard to be very gentle. i loooooove amity's new habit of kissing gaia's paws. it's so sweet and adorable... thats right amity, your big sister is very fancy and chic, with dainty pawsies that need to be kissed!

she's also been very playful, which is good. she's got energy! and a new favorite toy, once again its part of a larger toy amity customized for herself (ripped parts off of) and it's this soft fuzzy orb thing. she's also been a little whiny, but i'm pretty sure that's just her complaining about the heat, it's not uncommon for her in summertime. she feels better when the fan is pointing at her. oh and she hates the lawnmowers outside... i dont wake up from the noises i wake up from her yelling at the noises ajdhfbxkdj. shes so annoyed.

wish it were easier to get a pet groomer appointment in this doggone town. a lion cut would definitely help her cope with the temperatures. plus knowing how funny she looks when her fur is wet id love to see her BALD she would look soooo funny. all the places with good reviews are always fully booked though it seems. swear to god this is all such a scam, Back In My Day if your cat was in surgery you could ask the vet to go ahead and give them a lion cut while they were still under anesthesia lmao. my own clippers just don't work with her fur either, it's too fine and soft. the cons of being a fluffy cloud... a toasted meringue angel... a lovely tiramisu girl... a silly baby s'more... a caramel frappucino princess...

“Let me go mutt!” Knuckles struggled to get out of Sonic’s grip but despite the echidna’s strength he stood no chance. It was nighttime after all and Sonic was much stronger as a werehog.

“Look you’re the one who said they were cold, I was just fixing the problem.” Sonic grinned at him, pulling the protesting echidna closer before lying down next to the fire Knuckles had built.

“I didn’t mean for you to grab and cuddle with me! Let me go!” Despite Knuckles still protesting he was starting to slow down. The echidna was acting like Sonic had never caught him snuggled up with him of his own free will before. Well, maybe he didn’t know because Sonic had never told him. Either way. Though it was pretty nice considering Sonic had spent most of his nights alone before Knuckles found him. Also even if the echidna wouldn’t admit it he probably enjoyed it as well. Why else would he keep doing it? 

“Let me think about it.” Sonic made a show of looking like he was thinking really hard for a moment. He could feel Knuckle’s glare despite not looking at him. It was something he was pretty used to at this point after all. “Alright I thought about it, and no I don’t think I will let you go. At least not until morning.”

Finally Knuckles sighed and stopped trying to escape. “You’re insufferable.” He grumbled.

“Only to you.” Sonic winked. “Others would call me charming.” Sonic grabbed Knuckles’ hat and put it down next to them so it wouldn’t get squashed during the night.

“Others are wrong.” Knuckles growled as he tried to snatch the hat back.. “I still can’t believe I got stuck with you.”

“Not one for good company huh?” Sonic yawned. The duo had fought some of those weird monsters earlier so he was actually tired. Which was still sort of an odd feeling for this early in the night. “Or any company at all.”

“Things were just simpler back up on my island. Most importantly I didn’t have to deal with annoying werehogs like you.” Knuckles did his best to cross his arms despite the position, finally giving up on retrieving his hat. Sonic fought to keep in a laugh at the attempt.

“Come on, it's not that bad. You still get to see the world, and save it at the same time. I was gonna end up stuck with someone anyway. Are you saying you’d rather it be someone else?” Sonic hummed. “Someone who doesn’t have the knowledge to be a decent guide?”

Knuckles grumbled under his breath before sighing. “First, I’m way more than decent. I’m the best guide you could have asked for.” His eye twitched. “Second, no. At least this way I can keep an eye on you. Make sure you’re actually doing your job.” He glared, but there wasn’t really any heat behind it. “Gaia forbid you get stuck with that fox friend of yours. He wouldn’t know how to tighten your leash.”

Sonic gasped dramatically. “How dare you speak so ill of Tails! I’ll have you know that he’s talked me out of a lot of stupid things over the years I’ve known him.”

“Not enough for you to not make them a habit clearly.” Knuckles huffed.

“Hey, gotta keep my person intact you know?” Sonic chuckled. “Plus you know you like it.”

“I hate it.” Knuckles frowned.

“No you don’t. Don’t try and act like you don’t like me. I thought we were over that?”  Sonic sighed through his nose.

“Keep thinking that mutt.” Knuckles shivered before moving closer to Sonic and his much warmer fur. Sonic decided to not say anything about that.

“I will keep thinking that, thank you.” Sonic laughed.

AAAAAAA FRIEND IN THE ASKBOX<33333 I didn’t even rb the ask game but I’ll take it because I need to get my thoughts out!!!! Btw this list took me hours because I am so indecisive but it was worth it🫶

5. Romeo and Julius

Even though it’s the first play introduced, it’s still one of my favorites and it has a special place in my heart. The only reason it’s so low is because it’s the first one newborn Mankai put on, so there are some pacing issues and I honestly just wish there was more. I’ve also been using it to lure some of my irl friends into A3! because who doesn’t like a million totally-not-gay plays? Aside from that Bokura no Kizuna is the song ever.

4. Harugaoka Quartet

This one doesn’t have the best plot in my opinion, but I still love it. I enjoy a simple plot with really well-written characters, so it works! That and the event story is one of my favorites of all time. I’m also biased because I finally found a recording of the Mankai Stage version and it is WONDERFUL. There’s this one part I really like towards the end where it’s just Ennis on stage and it’s completely dark except for a spotlight. He continues to practice the first part of “Spring”, getting frustrated each time. There is no dialogue. It’s all in his expressions. The last time he starts playing, the rest of the quartet joins him as the lights come up and aaaaaaa ;-;. It’s sososo beautiful I think it was adapted excellently!!! And the final scene with “Hajimari wa Quartet” is incredible I love the added harmonies oughhhhh…

3. The Floral Prince and Sympathy for the Angel

I couldn’t decide. Floral Prince is up here because it’s got SUCH a pretty fairytale aesthetic and the story is so fun and sweet. I always like a good fairytale so this is right up my alley. Sympathy for the Angel is really important to me hehe it was the first Mankai play I subbed and I ended up loving it the first time I read it.(And I’m biased because Sakuya’s Uriel>>>>>)

2. The Wonderful Charlatan of Oz

Another one of my absolute favorites. The second I read it I was already imagining how it would look on stage and it’s so incredibly well-done and fun to watch and aaaaaaa!!!! Also Rick is just genuinely one of my favorite characters of all time no matter how bad I feel for him. Oswald is such a compelling character as well, I think the way Someya portrayed him made him fun to watch, both annoying but still likable. Same with Yokota’s Rick. He’s loud and gullible, a little stupid, but really offsets Oswald nicely. Not to mention the FINAL BATTLE UGH!!! Incredible. Admittedly, I don’t love that the rest of the Spring Troupe has smaller roles, but I don’t think this is the kind of story you can tell with this many people. It’s just good overall.

Honorable Mentions:

SSR Family(The costumes are lovely and I like a lot of the characters and plot, especially Blanc and Nero, I think they’re interesting and well-written. And my wife is there)

A Clockwork Heart(Yeah I cried so what)

The Great Sardine Search(CLASSIC. Though I’ll admit I can only watch it once in a while because Shiro’s voice is super obnoxious to me)

Wonder Rush(It has the same vibes as Sardine Search but it’s got more of a modern vibe to it, plus the plot and costumes are adorable)

Welcome to Akebono-so!(My favorite Autumn play, especially given that I don’t typically like Autumn’s plays. I like the elements of both a fantasy world and reality, plus the characters are a huge selling point for me)

Fallen Blood(I don’t remember much of the plot, but I remember being emotionally smacked in the face once I finished reading it)

Luminous Circus(The plot is meh but I live for the aesthetic and the event story mentally fucked me up)

Oh, Exquisite Gaia!(Not a mainline play, I know, but it was going on in A3EN the same time I was auditioning for a play about Greek gods and was really nervous. I ended up getting a lead role and I’m blaming this event because that play was also what solidified my place in more plays with that director. Plus I ended up basing my character’s movements and stuff on Azuma because I liked the way he did Gaia ajsjdbfj)

As for Magician’s Pure Love, I honestly loved it from the moment I read it. It reminds me of the ballet Copelia, but less dark. I also love the event story because, and I know some people disagree, it is peak Masumi. This is the closest we’ve gotten to the Secret Good Masumi That Lives in my Head. And I love it. Not even that, the play’s plot is a lot of fun and had me guessing over and over again. Also Koma is there<3

can you imagine hyouka meeting gaia and she goes home to tell satsuki she met a god and satsuki is just " ...how hard did you hit your head-- " asdf in all seriousness, hyouka's always fun to write bc she's so energetic and mildly annoying, but maybe she can learn from gaia? bc while she treasures her sister and brother and fights for them, they don't necessarily understand that, and she doesn't remember to treasure their time together. for example, her baby brother didn't remember her after she came back from final selection bc she was training for two years without visiting her family -- he only knew who she was bc satsuki made sure to tell him stories about her. and maybe gaia who has lived in isolation for a while can better understand satsuki's feelings? and help hyouka understand that protecting her family is good, but being together with them is just as important. i hope that makes sense asdf

Random adoption being how shadow got silver is the far superior version of how shadow becomes dadow but in my heart I have a fondness for the idea of silver being created like shadow was when a alien demon thing (Mephelis the dark) and a lonely man with many mental illnesses’ dna gets put in a blender and a baby pops out.                                 Chapter 8: Pluto 

Life with Spencer wasn’t easier but it sure was better. 

It had been about 9 months now since the two of you started dating and you knew it would be rough. The two of you traveled a lot for work so it was a lot of missed calls, texts, and video chats in the beginning but now you’d say the two of you got a grip on what you both wanted which was each other. Around month 6, Spencer asks you to move in with him. At first you say no, and you keep saying no until around month 8 when Spencer gets shot on the job and you take care of him and just never leave. Not that he was complaining, it was what he’s wanted since Month 2. 

You met the team officially and without impending danger around month 2 as well. Emily and Derek who you already knew through the investigation welcomed you back with open arms and tequila shots at the bar you met them at. JJ took a while to warm up to you which you completely understood from how you left but she warmed up to you when she realized just how much you loved Spencer and how much you regretted pushing him away. 

You and Penelope Garcia got along like a house on fire which everyone expected the two genius women to. Though her sunny, social disposition and your quiet, mellow one didn’t mix on paper pretty soon you guys were trading baked goods and having sleepovers. It was nice, you never had girl friends you could be yourself around but you found that in them. 

Spencer was still Spencer. 

In some ways, he was still the man you met in the observatory of your job, and in some ways he was very different. He was definitely a lot more touchy than you thought he’d be, seemingly unable to be in the same room as you without touching you in some way. Not that that was unwelcome, you loved him all the same. He was still that nerdy guy who whenever he read something or found out something new about your field he’d call you up and immediately to tell you about it. And you would sit and listen intently, never having the heart to tell him it was something you already knew. You liked to hear him talk anyway. 

You still found out a couple of things too. One being that Spencer gets extremely jealous and you found this out around Month 7 of your relationship, your first official fight. He had come to surprise you at work and you were helping the new Doctor hired on the Terra-Mora project get acclimated with the space. You didn’t think anything of the guy other than he was overly friendly but when Spencer came in and saw the fairly attractive man lingering a hand on your back he became livid. 

The car ride home was awkward because you could tell something was up with Spencer though he wasn’t saying anything. “What’s wrong?” You asked. 

“Nothing, bunny.” He says, you can’t help the smile that crosses  your face at the nickname but you knew there was something wrong. 

“Okay so there has to be something up. So out with it.” 

He’s silent for a moment. “How’s working with Dr. Sutton?” 

“Landon?” You ask. He gives you a look when you refer to the man by first name but you choose to ignore it.  “It’s fine. He’s better at math and he’s been nice.” 

“Bet he has.” Spencer mutters under his breath. 

“Ok, what is that?” You ask. 

“Why did you just call him Landon just now?” 

“His name is Landon….?” 

“Every person you work with you refer to as Doctor, you even refer to yourself as Dr. L/N when talking about work.” He points out. “In fact, the only other person you didn’t do that for was Jonathan, who you had feelings for. So why is he ‘Landon’?” 

“He asked me to call him Landon.” You shrug. “You almost sound jealous, Spence.” You can’t help the small chuckle that leaves you when you say it because it was ridiculous to even think about. You loved Spencer. You couldn’t imagine your life without him or even fathom wanting anyone but him but when you saw the look he gave you back when you said it you knew that was exactly the case. 

“You wanna tell me what this is actually about now?” You question. 

“Why didn’t you say I was your boyfriend?” He whispers. 

“What?” You say, confused. You park the car in front of your apartment and turn fully towards Spencer.   

“You didn’t say I was your boyfriend, you called him Landon…” 

“Baby, I didn’t even realize I didn’t do that.” You say, looking into his eyes. “If I did it’s because everyone knows who you are.” You say, cupping the side of his face with one of your hands, he instantly leans into the touch. “My genius boyfriend, who works for the FBI and saved my life. I talk about you constantly because I am happy and proud to be yours. That you still took a chance on me even though I pushed you away and treated you like shit in the beginning. I am never trying to hide you and you have no reason to be jealous because I don’t see anyone else when I’m with you, ok?” You say, Spencer smiles and leans over the center console to kiss you and just like every time Spencer kisses you, you contemplate the likelihood that the earth could stop its rotation because it seemed that the world stood still every time you were together like this.When you pulled away, you leaned your forehead against Spencers for a second, catching your breath. 

“Plus you really have no reason to be jealous.” You add. “Me and Landon spent most of the morning talking about our boyfriends.” 

Spencer looks at you with a wide eyed expression. “You mean, he’s--” 

“Yup.” You cut off. Getting out of the car, Spencer follows you. “You should get jealous more though. It’s kinda hot.” You shrug. Spencer rolls his eyes at you.

     On your one year anniversary, you go to your first date spot which was the Planetarium. You rolled your eyes at the time when Spencer suggested the date saying that you’d both just end up annoying the tour guide. In the end, you ended up with a 16  year old named Anna, who had the same twinkle in her eye when she talked about Space that you had as a child. You ended up shushing Spencer every now and again so you could listen to the young girl tell you about the planets you both knew so much about. At the end of the tour, you told her who you were and that if she wanted an internship at NASA after high school to give you a call. She smiled excitedly at you and hugged you, which you returned before apologizing profusely for hugging you. When you and Spencer were walking to get food after that he asked the question. 

“Do you want kids?” He says. 

“Whoa!” You laugh. “Big ask for a first date.” 

“I’m sorry, you were just so cute with the tour guide that--It’ll come up eventually is all.” 

“I do want kids someday.” You say, smiling at the man. “I never thought it was in the cards for me but I would love kids someday. What about you?” 

“I never thought it was in the cards for me either but I like the idea of having a family.” He says, reaching for your hand. You smile at him again and the topic never comes back up. 

You guys head to the Planetarium again and Anna is still working there, finishing up her senior year. She lets you guys venture around without a guide this time and you and Spencer just sit in the auditorium alone, talking softly at the fake constellations that pass by. 

After, you ask if you guys can skip dinner to go to the observatory just to see if you can get a peak at Gaia tonight as the sky seemed pretty clear. Spencer smiles and obliges you as the two of you head over to your job. The night security guard just nods at the two of you as you walk in, having come accustomed to your late nights and Spencer accompanying you. 

Spencer sits a ways while you set everything up, booting up your computer and positioning your telescope. The two of you settle into a comfortable silence as you often did around each other. You felt slightly bad, it was your anniversary and Spencer was indulging you just like always. He was really way too good for you. You look up at him and smile, which he instantly returns before you turn your attention to the telescope. 

That’s when you see it. 

Gaia. 

Fully visible from earth for the first time in what could have been a millennium. 

You scream out of happiness and Spencer looks up at you raising a brow as you run for your tape recorder.  Gesturing for him to come look. He looks into the telescope as you type into your computer for a second, making sure your telescope was taking the pictures you needed, before speaking into your recorder. 

“This is Dr. Y/N L/N. I am accompanied by Dr. Spencer Reid. The date is April 12th 2014. For the first time ever Planet KXSY-1029 or Alias Gaia is Fully visible from earth!” You turn off the recorder and jump into your boyfriend’s arms. He instantly catches you and spins you around before kissing you fully on your lips. You moan into his mouth slightly as his tongue meets yours but eventually he pulls away but he is still lifting you fully. 

“Do you realize how big tonight is? This is probably the only time anyone in centuries will be able to see her until we actually start human trials and it’s the only time it’ll probably ever be visible from earth and WE were here for it! This is amazing! This night cannot get bette--” 

“Marry me.” Spencer says, looking into your eyes. 

Your eyes widen, as Spencer sets you down on the ground. “What?” You ask. 

“I was going to ask at dinner.” He says pulling a ring out of his jacket pocket and getting down on one knee. You feel tears welling in your eyes. 

“I ruined your whole plan.” You say. 

“No! No, you didn’t. Because seeing you react to seeing Gaia just now reminded me exactly why I wanted to marry you.” Spencer says, grabbing your hands. “Did you know the greek goddess Gaia in creating the earth, gave humans four arms, four legs and a head with two faces. And Zeus, fearing their power, split them in half and that’s where the soulmates come from?” He asks, you shake your head and more tears fall as he rubs small circles with his thumb on the back of your hand. “Y/N, you are the single most caring, passionate, amazing person I know. And if I could go back and change anything about how we met and when we met, I wouldn’t. If I could take away your hurt and tragedy, I would but I feel like everything I’ve ever done, everything that’s ever happened to me, was designed to lead me to you. Meeting you, loving you was the first time in my life I felt truly like myself, like I was half a person until meeting you made me whole again.” He tears up as he looks you in the eyes. “So, Y/N… Will you marry me? Please.” He adds softly. 

You nod fast, tears falling more than they were before as you give him a wet smile. “Yes, Spencer! Of course!” You laugh as Spencer smiles up at you as he slides the ring onto your finger. He gets up and kisses you passionately, hands cradling your face. When you pull apart, he hugs you tightly. You breathe in his scent and look behind him at the images of Gaia on your screens. You thought back to the story Spencer had just told you about soulmates and how before you met Spencer you were just going through the motions of life, feeling incomplete and never knowing what was missing. You seemed to have everything you wanted. Your dream job and life. It wasn’t until being with Spencer you realized what was missing. That he was missing.   

In the end, you were just two halves.

Sirius Black x Gaia Devereaux

Description: Sirius finds Gaia in the library studying still in her Yule Ball dress hours afterwards  and offers to keep her company.

Sometimes Gaia regrets telling Sirius her favorite flowers. She told him on their first date that her favorite flowers were Pink Poppies. No place she interacted with was safe after that. On her bed after classes finished? Bouquet. At her desk before class? Bouquet. At the Gryffindor table during breakfast (because she sat with the marauders during breakfast and sometimes lunch)? Bouquet. At the Ravenclaw table during dinner? Bouquet.

At four months of it happening, her dorm mates were getting annoyed that there was no space for any more and told her she needed to ask him to back off a little. While Gaia found the gesture endearing, she couldn’t help but agree. So, she sought out her boyfriend and asked him to cool it a little. Sirius was surprised at the request, but when she explained her reasoning, he stopped doing it as much. He asked her to the Yule Ball with a bouquet of pink Poppies and Bearded Irises, which she thought was cute. He even had a corsage with a pink Poppy on it. It was something she knew she would cherish forever. 

The evening was full of dancing and laughter, something Sirius knew that Gaia definitely needed. She had been having a lot of trouble in Potions, and it didn’t help that her potions partner Snivelus over there refused to help her because of the marauders. So, she often spent her free time in the library or somewhere quiet to study. Sirius watched her dance with Remus with a smile on his face. He hadn’t seen her so relaxed in almost two months. 

But, like many good things, the Yule Ball came to an end. The marauders plus Gaia, Violetta and Lily made their way back to the Gryffindor common room, Lily and Remus having to support a very tipsy James. The two dropped him onto the couch then sat down, the others following in suit. Lily yawned and stretched her arms out.

“Merlin, I’m exhausted. I’m about to just change and go to bed.” James groaned from beside her, wrapping his arm around her haphazardly.

“Aw come on Lily, the night’s just started! We still have much more we could do if you know what I mean.” He wiggled his eyebrows at that last part, making Lily roll her eyes and shove the boy’s arm off her. 

“The only thing you’re about to do is get into bed, mister,” she said with authority in her tone. The other five shared a laugh as they watched the two lovebirds. Violetta looked at Gaia with a lazy smile. 

“What about you Gaia? Are you going to stay up longer?” She spoke in the soft, almost ethereal sounding voice she had when she was having fun. Sirius looked at her expectantly, but Gaia simply shrugged.

“Yeah, I’ve got some homework I need to finish up. I swear Professor Flitwick is trying to kill us with all these essays,” she groans, leaning her head on Sirius’s shoulder. 

“Oh come off it Wings, it’s the weekend and it’s…” he trails off, grabbing Remus’s wrist to see the time “...Late!” He exclaimed and dropped Remus’s wrist upon realizing that he could barely see straight at this point. Remus rolled his eyes at his friend's behavior but looked at Gaia disapprovingly. 

“Seriously though you’re going to overwork yourself then you’ll get nothing done. Take a break, you can study tomorrow.” Gaia hummed in thought then shook her head as she stood. 

“I’d rather do it tonight so I can be free tomorrow to relax, Merlin knows we all need a relaxation day after tonight.” Lilly, who had been trying to get James to not start taking off his clothes in the common room, nodded.

“Just don’t stay out too late love. We wouldn’t want you falling asleep in a random place again.” Gaia groaned dramatically.

“It was one time Lils!” She exclaimed before making her way out, leaving her friends laughing behind her.

Gaia hadn’t even thought to change before she went to the library, she just gathered her book, parchment, quills and some ink from her dorm then headed for the library. Now here she was, her hair down instead of in the bun it was in during the Ball, and her shoes cast aside as she studied at one of the tables near one of the only light sources. 

The library was dark save for a few candles around so Gaia couldn’t see more than six or seven feet in front of her. So, when Sirius stepped out of the shadows with a hand behind his back, Gaia got scared. 

“What the hell Padfoot? A warning would have been nice,” she hissed, holding a hand to her chest. Sirius only laughed and took a seat beside her, holding out her corsage.

“You left this behind earlier, thought you might want it back. Plus, I wanted to check on you.” Gaia smiled, a curious smile on her face as she checked the nearest wall clock.

“I left two hours ago, Pads, what took you so long?” She paused to look him up and down. “And why are you still in your suit?”  Sirius blushed red and smiled embarrassedly, resting his hands on the table.

“Prongs, Wormtail and I passed out on the couches.” Gaia held in a laugh, not wanting to disturb the quietness of the library. 

“How classy,” she teased with a quiet giggle. Sirius lightly shoved her shoulder in response with a laugh a little louder than hers. 

“Oh shut up,” he laughed, “How much do you have left?” He asked, gesturing at Gaia’s open textbook and parchment with drying ink on it. She sighed as if she hated that he’d brought it up. 

“One full page. This stuff isn’t easy to find.” Sirius nodded understandingly. It was hell for him when he wrote it, but he managed. 

“I can keep you company,” he offered. Gaia smiled at the suggestion.

“Darling I love you, but you’ll probably be more of a distraction than good company.” He looked offended at that. 

“That was hurtful, but I will ignore it because I know you’re probably tired. Now, turn that pretty little face back to your parchment and finish that essay.” His fingers pressed against her jawline gently, moving her face back to the table. She exhaled an amused laugh and picked up her quill once more. After just around an hour of silence (save for a page turning in her textbook or her quill scraping against the parchment), Gaia felt something against her back. Sirius had begun running his fingers up and down her back absentmindedly while watching her. She expected this to happen, Sirius could never sit still for long. However, she knew that if he kept that up she’d be asleep in no time. 

“Darling, you’re going to make me fall asleep if you keep doing that,” she mumbled distractedly. At first she thought he hadn’t heard her because his movement hadn’t ceased, but quickly thought different when she heard him chuckle. He scooted closer to her and maneuvered himself so she was practically leaning against him. 

“Is that really a bad thing?” Gaia snorted.

“Yes.” He hummed in response, his movement still going, and shrugged. She huffed in response and decided to just keep going, though she quickly found that it was difficult now. In total, she’d been awake for almost eighteen hours and it was starting to show. 

Gaia didn’t even realize she’d fallen asleep until she woke up to sunlight shining directly in her face. She attempted to move but stopped when she became aware of a heavy weight on her back. For a moment she panicked before the weight on her back groaned and shifted. A sigh of relief left her as she realized where she was and who the weight was. She looked at the clock. 7:56  a.m. Thank Merlin it was the weekend.

Carefully, she moved enough to stir Sirius awake but not enough to make him fall. Luckily it worked. ‘Probably because we’re sitting and not laying down,’ she thought. Sirius groaned and stretched before taking in his surroundings. He was visibly confused until his eyes landed on Gaia, then he smiled lazily at her.

“Morning, butterfly,” he mumbled. Before she could respond, the library door opened and Madam Pince walked in. Upon seeing the couple, she began yelling. 

“Oi, you two! Get out of here! Does this look like Lovers Lane?” The two stood, and while Gaia gathered her things as quickly as she could while still in her tired state, Sirius just smiled laxly once again. 

“Well-” he started, but Gaia was quick to grab his hand and practically drag him out of the library before he could make it worse. She mumbled an apology to the librarian, who just huffed as they passed her. 

“Well, that was exciting. What a way to wake up, eh butterfly?” Sirius asked in an attempt to lighten the mood, a yawn soon following. “Man, I’ve slept in a lot of random places, but the library chair may just be the most uncomfortable. Remind me to never fall asleep there again.” Gaia simply rolled her eyes and made her way to the portrait of The Fat Lady. 

After mumbling the password to a very disgruntled painting, the door swung open and the couple stepped in. Remus, Lily, James and Peter were sat on the couches as they were last night looking as if they just woke up themselves. Peter, looking as if he’d been hit by a truck, was the first to notice them.

“Well, where have you two been?” The others followed his gaze to the tired couple and James laughed. 

“Don’t tell me you two just went somewhere and shagged last night,” he said through rambunctious laughter. Sirius only groaned, mumbling something about going to get more sleep before making his way upstairs. Gaia attempted to follow, but Lily quickly grabbed her hand, sitting her down on the other side of her. 

After multiple attempts to reassure Lily that they hadn’t done anything but study last night, Gaia stood up to go to bed. Remus wished her good sleep and promised to save her some food from breakfast. Without another word, Gaia made her way upstairs.

She was pleasantly surprised to see Sirius fast asleep in her bed, his jacket, tie and belt discarded on the floor beside it. As silently as she could, she got out of her dress and into her night clothes. She pulled back the covers on the empty side of her bed, and smiled when her eyes fell upon the pink Poppy laying in her place. After picking it up and smelling it, she set it delicately on her nightstand then climbing into bed. She fell asleep with Sirius’s arms around her once again.

Sonic Unleashed on Wii... woof!

Sonic Unleashed is one of my favorite games of all time. It’s flawed, but I really do love everything it has going on... that being on the 360 and PS3. The Wii/PS2 version is an absolute mess!

The game starts with terrible, annoying tutorial stages that are segmented into literal 10 second stages. Chip constantly pops in to teach you about every, single mechanic of the game. It is maddening and he does this all the way up to Shamar!

Boosting is not the same as the 360/PS3 version because Sonic can only boost in small fractions. It’s so annoying and a useless change. The boost also doesn’t go in the direction Sonic is facing, but rather where the camera is pointing which makes it a chore to use it; especially because the game just expects you to not boost on certain sections with no warning. Moreover, boosting into walls gives an admittedly comedic animation of Sonic getting squished. It’s funny like... twice. It’s then aggravating. Does anybody remember that this was intended to be a feature in Sonic 2, but they took it out because it was dumb and not fun? Oh and don’t you dare attempt to boost when you don’t have one of those sections of your boost gauge filled. Because Sonic will stumble and it will slow you down!

The town stages are total jokes and a huge waste of time! Instead of a gorgeous hub world that is fun to explore for each zone, you get these terrible images of a map that you decide where to go. All you have to do is go to specific sections that are marked “New” to progress the story. However, I saw this screen of Chip telling me nobody was in a section more than 10 times. It’s a huge waste of time and gets annoying! This completely kills the impact of the plot and I love the villagers in the 360/PS3 version, but I felt absolutely nothing for them here. There was nothing to enjoy about the town stages. Despite being single images, they were even clunky to progress to the right icon! Progression was clumsy and annoying. There was also a moment when the Dark Gaia creatures attacked Amy and it was like a PowerPoint presentation with really simple quick time events. How embarrassingly crude! You would enter stages and do something only to be tossed back to the map screen with no story consequence. It felt ridiculous.

The Werehog combat is incredibly dull. Credit where credit is due, I love how if you die, the Werehog will be revived instantly. That’s a good change. But the combat is absolutely brain dead in this version. Just mash the L and R buttons on the Gamecube controller. The enemies never, ever makes you think about what you’re doing. It’s just a constant chore and every single time a battle arena spawned, I groaned.

The boss fights are also so lacking. When playing during the Day Time stages, the pace of the boss fights felt broken and sluggish. The werehog boss fights felt clunky. There was no satisfying rhythm to any of them. Even the Egg Dragoon is broken because you can get him into this loop where he can’t even attack you. The one exception is the Dark Gaia boss battle. While I prefer the Super Sonic section in the next gen version, the fight on display here with Chip’s boxing section, the good flow with Sonic’s sections, and even the end part with Super Sonic were enjoyable.

Some bizarre things are also the language options. I am playing the Japanese version, but there is NO English language option. That’s fine because I know this game like the back of my hand and can understand Japanese, but even Sonic and the Secret Rings and Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity had language options. Plus, the amount of cut content is ridiculous. Especially when you consider that the extra missions (which are not fun at all) are just the previous stages being recycled.

The game isn’t complete garbage. As it goes on, it does improve. Some of the stages provide thrills and decent little layouts. However, they’re still marred with the issues I have mentioned. Moreover, it just feels draining and too long. One thing I want to give credit for is the actual aesthetics of some of these stages both for the Day and Night outings. There are some really great environments and displays found through out. These areas feel like very expanded versions of what we saw in the 360/PS3 versions. I also like how each act gets a neat little title like: Scorched Rock or Altar of Oblivion.

Did I have some fun with Sonic Unwiished? Yes, I did and I was smiling during those times. However, it was buried deep under disappointing design decisions and a game that felt more cumbersome than fun.

I stand by this! The fact that this version received much better scores from critics back in 2008 is extremely frustrating when it doesn’t come even close to the achievements of the real versions of this game. I honestly never want to hear people believe this version is better because I am flabbergasted at the idea that anybody would truly believe so! I don’t like this game on Wii/PS2, but I will always marvel at the 360/PS3 version.
