Sarah read the words over and over again. Trying anything to get it the damn spell to work. Katherine's body lay still as it had a few minutes ago.

"Damnit Kathy. It won't work!" Sarah yelled. She felt her heart drop at the thought of losing her. "Please..." She sobbed. She screamed at the top of her lungs but choked on a sob. Drying her eyes she looked to the chalk on the ground. "What-" She messed up one drawing. One simple little drawing. She scrambled quickly and drew it the right way. Saying the text as loud as she can, then she felt it. Even saw it. The room lit up and as the candles blew out, she felt the air shift and even somehow she was floating.

In a flash of light, everything was normal. She slammed down on the ground the chalk now dust in the air. Sarah looked up and saw Katherine take in a breath of air.

"It worked!" Sarah hugged her.

"What happened Sar?"

Sarah could only sob and hugged her tightly. She couldn't have been happier.

Note: I had it all wrong. Yesterday was not my alma mater's Homecoming Weekend game. No. For Homecoming the U of T has to have a sure win. The game is next month, again Connecticut. Assured to be a blowout. (On Saturday they did win over Texas A and M, but it was by a whisker.)

Nice weather. Must walk. Must get out the kinks.

Big sports news: The Jets pull out a win against the Eagles. Their first win over the Eagles.

Jordon really wants that gavel. Is making phone calls, twisting arms. His becoming Speaker of the House, should this happen, would be a real setback.

The news from Israel continues to be bad. Gaza may be reduced to rubble before it's all over.

The plumbler hasn't called me. I am nervous about all of this.

I go see Dr. Seecoomar. My gastroenternologist. Nice man. It is time for me to get a colonoscopy. I am due for it, not having had this procedure for five years. He tells me something interesting, something I'd have not known: this is my last one. No more after this. After the age of eighty it is assumed death will claim you in some other way. Sobering thought, this.

Note: Jim Jordon really wants that gavel. He continues to make phone calls. Twisting arms. To think of him as Speaker is stomach turning. There is going to be a vote tomorrow. (Just a further note: Jordon is tortured by an incident from his past. When he was a wrestling coach in Ohio a number of students reported having been molested. Jordon covered up for his friend, wrestling team physician [musicians will be amused by this] Richard Strauss.)

I find the paperwork on the fridge. It is ten years old. I suppose ten years is a good run for a little fridge. I am ready for a replacement, but first have to deal with the pipes under the kitchen sink. (Old building, faulty pipes. Dammit.)

NYE Celebration

Sitting in a Dunkin’ Donuts at midnight was not exactly how you expected to spend your New Year’s Eve. You swirl your black coffee, staring into the cup angrily. Of course, he ignored you the entire party, it’s not like you expected him to notice you. You had agreed to be friends. At least, that’s what you kept telling yourself.

“You okay?” a voice asks cautiously. The owner of the voice sets a hand on your shoulder. “Rough night?”

“You could say. I’m sorry if I’m in your way,” you apologize, starting to move.

She stops you before sitting across from you. “No, no. You’re fine. I just, well, you’re pretty, and I wanted to make sure you’re okay.”

It’s at this moment you realize how gorgeous she is. Her auburn hair falls gently over her shoulders. “Well, I don’t think anyone who spends their New Years alone is doing well.”

“You’re not wrong,” she agrees. “Anyway, I don’t want to burden you with all of that.”

You nod, taking a sip of your coffee. 

Ryan Seacrest begins his countdown on the TV in front of you.

“Um, you don’t happen to have a New Years kiss?” She asks, wringing her hands.

“Nope. You?”

“I’m working on it,” she replies with a wink.

“I don’t even know your name.”

Seven

“Kathrine.” Of course, her name was as gorgeous as her.

“Pretty name. Pretty girl.”

She rolls her eyes.

“What about you, pretty girl?”

“That works for now.”

Five

She groans in frustration. “Please?”

“Kiss me first. Then, I’ll tell you.”

Four

She stands up, and for a moment you think she’s going to leave.

Three

Instead of leaving, she falls into your lap. “Not even now?” Her perfect lips form a frown.

Two

“Let’s do something crazy,” you whisper, pulling her closer to you.

One

She leans down to kiss you. Your lips move in sync as she tries to get as close to you as possible, her hands on the back of your head, tangled in your hair. As the two of you pull away, you whisper, “(Y/N).”

Specs can break into and out of the Refuge because he was helping Jack smuggle before Jack was arrested.

Remember, Jack was arrested for trafficking stolen food and clothing, do you think he did it all alone?  In Ryan Steele’s own words, “Specs always goes along with what Jack says.”  It would explain why he would know to show Katharine the drawings and it explains how he can get in and out of the Refuge without being caught: He’s done it before.

So... The plumber messed up and my room is useless (really, f#cking flooded the room, I'm trying to control my anxiety)... Do you guys have anywhere I can sleep?

(Oh no!!! I hope it gets fixed soon :(  On a side note, I’ve been playing sims 4 a lot recently and I could not read “plumber” right. I read it as “plumbler” and “plumbomb” before I realized it was “plumber” XD)

Vergil: Dante does not have a spare room, but you may use my room and I can sleep on the couch. How long before it gets fixed? *curious, wants to help you in any way he can*

V: I am staying with Nero and Kyrie, I’m sure there is room there or in the van we use. I’ve fallen asleep on the couch there several times and it is much more comfortable than it looks.
