Kyoryuger Week Day 5 - Plezuon / Plezu-Oh

Real talk: how awesome is this idea? A dinosaur spaceship? You could argue that a lot of Abaranger’s and Kyoryuger’s machines have components of industrial devices and vehicles, but not to this extent. I can’t help but think that the 4th generation of the Kyoryu Sentai would be really cool if they did a little mix-and-matching between dinosaurs and construction vehicles. I know that’s been done in other toylines, but how many of those other toylines slam a bunch of their toys together to make an enormous robot? It’s probably a better idea than the Dinosaur-Soda Can Sentai idea I’ve been doing concept sketches for for my production group.

The Good: While Plezu-Oh doesn’t excel in any category on its own, all its modes are pretty good. The plesiosaur/spaceship isn’t posable at all, but it looks cool, you have to tear a lot of pieces off to form Plezu-Oh’s limbs, but he ends up looking ok. If this guy is better than any of the other Kyoryuger toys at anything, it’d be the combined mode. The Bakuretsu combinations are the coolest looking of the three possible. It completely changes the dynamic of the Gabutyra mold, making the T-Rex/Spinosaur head the focal point of the combination rather than a shoulder pad. It’s an intense design shift that I enjoy.

The Bad: And this is where the c-clips rear their ugly head again, and this is the only toy I have where I personally broke one. It’s one of the ones on his back that holds his small arms when he’s not using them, and the arm holds in there with friction regardless of the clip or not, but it’s still felt. And this guy uses c-clips for basically everything, so he’s one I’d recommend a delicate hand when transforming.

Overall, while I could recommend Kyoryujin or Pteraiden-Oh based on their performance on their own, Plezu-Oh is a toy where you’re going to want one of the Gabutyra molds to bring out its full potential. Luckily, there’re four of those, so finding one in a color you like shouldn’t be too difficult, whether it be red, blue, black, or white.
