Ugh tbh this season is really not landing for me because the emotional core of it is centered around Yen being a mother to Ciri (and to a lesser extent Geralt being a father to her, but it feels like less of a focus this season since it’s been explored in earlier seasons). This would be great if the casting more closely matched their goals for this mother/daughter portrayal of their relationship, but unfortunately as great as Anya and Freya are (they’re great actors, I’m not disputing this), they are only six years apart in age and it just isn’t believable for me. I get that it’s a found family thing and age is less of an object, but it’s just so hard for me to believe a 27 year old mothering a 21 year old. On top of this, the show really wants you to see Ciri as a child, but she’s a whole ass adult, and personally I’ve just found it really hard to see what the show wants me to see this season because of it.
#pleeeease don’t hate this is literally just my experience of the season#you are more than welcome to not agree#feel free to make your own post if you don’t like what I’m saying. I’m not here to argue with people about tv shows lol#the Witcher#the Witcher season 3#also maybe it’s hard for me because I’m literally Anya’s age and Freya is a bit older than my students#and like I wouldn’t see myself as a mother figure to someone that age
