This is the start to every midshipmen’s life.  The utter living hell that is known as Plebe Summer.  Essentially this is our 7 week basic training period where they make us dress up like the little boy on the Cracker Jacks package and march us around making us do dumb things.  

The point of this training is to basically take your civilian self and break you down to nothing so they can build you back up the way they want.  They take your hair, make you wear butt ugly glasses, and take away your sense of individuality.  Each day starts at 5:30 and goes until 10:00 that night.  

The days are filled doing the weirdest of things.  You run through the hallways and square your corners every time you turn.  This is called chopping.  You have timed races to change uniforms or make your racks (beds are called racks in the navy).  You begin and end every sentence to a superior with sir or ma’am.  It’s not so hard, it’s just really annoying.  

As you can see in this picture, there aren’t many girls.  In fact, somewhere during this time you actually forget you are a girl.  You don’t think about much of anything during this time.  It only makes things harder to get through.  You spend your days living meal to meal and try not to draw attention to yourself.  

In summary, Plebe Summer is an actual living hell.  But, it’s a living hell every femid has to go through.  That’s what binds us together.  They may try to tear us down, but they can’t take away who we are.  We will always be women.  And while Plebe Summer sucks, it does come to an end.  By overcoming those seven hellish weeks, we show those rooting against us that they are wrong. Women ARE strong enough to be in the military, and we CAN keep up in a man’s world.  And we will keep proving to these haters that they are wrong until the day we die.

Wow i was totally expecting the phone call to last only 15 minutes and he called me for almost 30 minutes. I love him so much.

The fact that he writes me every week is amazing. I never thought he would even be able to write me once but I've gotten three letters since plebe summer started. I'm so happy he's my mid♥

Phone call from him<3

So freaking EXCITED!!!! I got my first phone call from my boyfriend im so glad to hear he’s doing okay it was only 10 minutes but it was all I needed to get through today he even wrote me another letter I cant believe he has time to write he makes my day even from miles away
