@woepumpkin replied to your post:❗ Please Stop Reposting Files ❗
"You don't even own the videos, even if you bought it. Don't feel so entitled about it just because you spend money on the DB / DVD.
I hope the user keeps uploading stages because you are so selfish you even ask money just for the video! Not even the physical copy itself.
I’m so fuckin tired of this selfish and arrogant fandom."
-------------
Hi, I want to address your concerns because I think you've misunderstood. Firstly, like I said in my post, when people post whole stage plays on public streaming sites and companies see that that become less willing to officially release things overseas when they see overseas fans doing things like that. This is also why many Japanese companies make their YouTube videos unavailable outside Japan (other than just for copyright reasons). In fact, some of their videos and other people's videos already got copyright strikes by a Japanese media rights company, and they are no longer posted.
Secondly, @ryota-kunstranslations said directly in her post "We don't ask you to not re-post because we're being selfish" so your claim of entitlement and selfishness is invalid. We WANT people to watch these plays, we just don't want them posted on streaming sites. To be honest, you could share our files with a million other people without our permission and as long as it's never reposted publicly online I would be okay with that.
Thirdly, I have never, ever asked for money for my files. I give my files away completely for free. I agree with you that it's not right to ask for money for video files because technically the person can make more than the original cost of the BD/DVD and it's not right to make a profit off of something you didn't create. Boxsplits are okay in my opinon though because there is a defined number of people who split the total cost and after that, no one else is given the files. So I get that you dislike those that ask for money, and I agree, but you're complaining to the wrong people about that and that's not what my post was about.
Lastly, if we take out the videos entirely from the equation what it really comes down to is the stolen subtitles. We put a lot of time and effort into making these and the one thing we ask for is that they DO NOT get posted publicly. And what did this person (and others) do? They posted it publicly.
The fact that you "hope the user keeps uploading stages" is all fine and good, but only if it's their own rips from their own BD/DVD. If it's your file, you can do whatever you want with it. I just don't want to see other people's files getting downloaded and reposted. And now that the people who shared video files and subtitle files for free are no longer sharing them publicly, that reposter won't even be able to keep uploading stages because they have no one to steal it from.
I want to keep sharing the stage plays with everyone, but until people stop reposting things I don't want to share links anymore. But because I really want people to watch the plays, I like hosting one-time livestreams as a way for people who don't own the BD/DVD to watch them. This will be my alternative to link sharing.
Sorry I'm so long-winded, but I hope you get the point. Thanks.
