im starting to have a personal political crisis.

mostly it is due to the fact that i haven’t done my reading. i don’t know much about world history from non-USA/UK perspectives. However I’m coming to terms with the fact that Western society has a completely different idea of communism than Eastern European and Asian society.

I’m not kidding when I say i think this began with the World Wars and then solidified in the Cold War

We all know in the USA that the Cold War was primarily a war of ideals. Capitalism versus Communism.

In Western society, conservatives say communism is Bad, capitalism is good. However there is a significant portion of the population who lives in near total oppression under capitalism. And because that is how we live, it’s the only system most of us know, we don’t have a proper understanding of Communism as it has been implemented historically. And, even if we do, it feels easy to ignore.

For those of us who are outcasts in this society, we want to choose the most severe opposition to the current system, and because our definition of Communism is warped, it is mostly seen as the natural choice of leftists who are in pain and want immediate change.

It’s easy to fall for this trap. I’ve nearly fallen for it myself.

I really, truly wonder what the right answer is. Is there even a right answer? What system works best, and who does each system work for?

This is a serious question, by the way. I’m open to respectful conversation on this topic. I would also LOVE book recommendations. I’m the kind of person who can’t make up their mind without learning as much as humanly possible.

(This should go without saying, but I will just in case. I have zero sympathy for those governments that are actively genocidal. Or even passively genocidal. I’m anti-imperialist and anti-authoritarian. There are people on this website who seem to think that questioning political stances and not making ones mind up immediately is automatically centrist and/or immoral. I truly believe it is immoral to make ones mind up on such important topics with limited information and without thinking critically)

it's not really as dark (now that i think about it maybe not dark at all) as the other two but i do think it's perfect to read during this season. ik ik it's not one but two step brothers and ppl hate it but hey, give this one a chance, trust me. im not a fan of step-sibling trope myself but this blew my mind. the whole time you read it, you forget they are step-siblings and you have to lowkey remind yourself. i like the plot, it honestly felt like watching a movie and i loved the humor. in this one, its sunghoon. he was just the type to tease and be cocky and behave all push and pull but im all for it. heeseung was sweet and cute, but sunghoon's character definitely dominated over hee's for me. the paris trip was everythinggg it just gave so much potential to sunghoon and he was just all swoony and ughh. HI HELLO okay so as much as i see and understand a desire for a "rick wright lore masterlist", i don't think i would be able to do proper service by just listing all of the stuff i know off my head, plus i don't want people to see it and just take everything i say at face value and not look into things further if that makes any sense

so instead i will put a rick wright source masterlist under the readmore so people can go watch/read things for themselves in as much detail as they feel comfortable doing so, + i think a lot of people aren't aware of half of the sources i take from

Books

As far as books go your best starting points are Mark Blake's Comfortably Numb and Nick Mason's Inside Out, both of which are much more generalised sources for any Pink Floyd related material - I do have PDFs of both of these (i have physical bought copies too dw), so if you can't read/listen to either of them for any reason DM me and I'll send those PDFs to you :] They're both available widely on Amazon and other bookstores and Inside Out is also available as an audiobook!!

Guy Pratt's My Bass And Other Animals is 75% his own biography and 25% pink floyd related, so while it does have some Rick-related stuff in there, don't go into it expecting any in-detail explanations. Unfortunately I don't have a PDF of this book, but it is widely available and relatively inexpensive to buy (and I totally reccomend it!)

Franka Wright has supposedly been writing a tell-all on her marriage and experiences with him, but there haven't been many updates on it in a while. I've been relatively quiet on everything she's said about him in public as I don't think I have enough information on what happened to properly comment, but if that book does drop expect me to be the first in line to take a look

Websites/Online

Please god if you have even any passing interest use rickwright.com. It's a resource largely made by his estate and has a lot of information on there, it's a really sweet and interesting labour of love and I cannot reccomend it enough

pinkfloydz.com is an older website but has a gigantic catalogue of interviews, which include a large amount of transcribed interviews with Rick from 1996. It's just such a good resource in general and I highly reccomend checking it out, as even if you're not a Rick fan you still have a lot of interviews with the others in there

Here me out here; @mamazano (who has been inactive since 2021) has SO much on there that I don't feel bad putting them down as a source. Almost everything they post about is properly cited so you can find exactly where they came from, and they catalogue a lot of stuff that is locked behind more expensive/less available books. Their attention to detail for citing and sourcing quotes has been so admirable to me even if they're no longer on Tumblr anymore!

He's gone through a crisis of faith this past year, and while I'm doing my best to help him in any way I can, he's interested in looking into Wicca. Why hello,Hera here. I saw your Carmilla ramble and just wanted to say that I 100% agree. However,I feel like she makes sense somehow? Let me explain! We clearly see her as this respectable (yes,Velvette stay put) fairly modest woman, but I surmise that's a clear “don't judge a book by it’s cover” type of thing. And..yes,I would put photos but I cannot do that in anon...anyway.

Let's look at her. She is PERFECTLY portrayed as a hypocrite. Yes. Obviously there were some..character writing issues to say the least but she IS a hypocrite. Not just because she sells weapons; what does a hypocrite do? Say stuff and do otherwise, to their own advantage. She does everything she does to save her daughters and herself, saying to not cause war but outright attacking Vaggie AS SHE SET FOOT inside her chambers. She couldn't care less about other sinners,and that's WHY she sells weapons. She's a bad person, she sells guns to make other sinners outright attack eachother. Why? To bring more Sales of course. If you know you're in danger then..let's just say, wouldn't you sell your soul for some security? People have sold them for far less after all.

Secondly, notice how she's outright manipulating Vaggie,maybe Zestial even? She does absolutely NOT care about them. The only thing she has ever done for Zestial for all I remember in the show was stop Velvette from causing problems during the meeting,and when she felt like she was losing control over it — as someone manipulative would do — she shuts her down sending her away. She understood she f-cked up and TO NOT RUIN HER FACADE she literally admitted everything just to keep the strings stretched thin. And that's the thing about the final stretch: It can keep stretching for however long she wishes it to. After keeping it from people you must either speak up about it or let the situation fall into the hands of fate which isn't really reccomended when you're trying to guilt-trip someone with a heart wrenching Song,no?

ABOUT SONGS CAN WE PLEASE SPEAK ABOUT OUT FOR LOVE? that song is absolutely screaming: “I didn't tell you this for my own advantage but I'm trying to distract you by telling you to fight for who you love yes whoo totally cohesive with what the main trope is!”.

Last and probably least, we take english as the official and outmost canon language in which the show is written. However, in certain translations DURING the overlord meeting — more specifically while velvette sang respectless — she said “I warn you that sooner or later you will pay for it, If it were up to me I would kick you out of here!”. Now, I know this is probably to actually make it rhyme but IT'S NOT JUST THAT. Because if we take a little more objective view we understand that she is exactly the type to be so aggressive. She sells weapons,attacks Vaggie, Stays behind closed doors when she could've HELPED her, and look at what information she actively chose to withold versus what she said up until out for love? . Think about it,She cares for herself and for her daughters..which brings me up to the first point.

Now, you're probably right and she's Just badly written but THERE'S STILL HOPE! I hope-

Ah you are certainly onto something. I also noticed that she basically confirmed Velvette's words by shutting down the meeting just to not ay it directly. Like, it was a terrible choice. She's obviously not as strong and wise as she poses if one (1) loud lady was able to disarm her so quickly. She's as short tempered as Vox or Val considering that Vaggie she attacked for no reason. I honestly agree with everything that you've written because it makes sense. I'm sure her being just a hypocrite wouldn't bother me that much if it wasn't for the way the show frames her. I can't really describe it I feel like it insists, I should see her in a positive light. That's not the case with any other Overlord. Even Rosie is explicitly shown to be profit-driven and manipulative (don't get me wrong, I would die for this woman but she basically told Charlie "here's how you can convince my people to die for your cause without telling them that they will probably die"). But Carmilla is just fierce, protective, supportive and reasonable. Dunno, I hope they will fix her somehow in season 2 since she's probably not going anywhere.

I have done 1000 days of learning French and Duolingo has become nothing but a source of anxiety and a burden. So I'm quitting completely. This was the last milestone I wanted to reach. hi there, thank you for sending this ask <3 it is nice to see how curious you are about psychology! so before exploring psychological research, i’d like you to read thoroughly about basic psychological concepts.

you need a strong knowledge base before you can take up research otherwise it can be a little bit tricky for you. you can pick up books like:

- Kaplan

- Passer & Smith

- Baron

- Cicarelli

These books will give you a pretty good idea about a majority of topics in psychology and they also include case studies + research findings.

In addition, if you want to look up research papers about certain topics, you can use Google Scholar, Research Gate, etc. I will recommend you to read from only the latest papers (not more than 5 years old), but in case not a lot of recent literature is available for some topic, you can always refer to older papers.

As far as my research interests go, I love working on-

- developmental psychology especially geriatric concerns

- interventions for mood disorders

- media psych

i’ve only listed a few here but there’s so much more i’m looking forward to work upon! I can’t put in papers or articles here right now but i’ll soon probably make a post which i will keep updating with cool papers/articles/posts about psychology i find :))

It was so sad that Levitas died.... Rankin was despicable for his apathy towards him. It truly broke my heart (this book did that a lot to be honest).

Te Welcome home site update is so, SO GOOD.

You can see the amount of work that went into it it's insane. I want to rant about it here- I heavily reccomend everyone to go check it out, PLEASE! Spoilers under cut!

Firstly, we got the voices of the characters?! Like how crazy is that?!!! The audios all sound so well, I bow my head to the voice actors and to Clown for choosing them and writing the lines.

Secondly THE GODDAMN ENTIRE GALLERY OF PROPS. What amount of time and effort must've gone into making these???? I cannot stress enough how it blows my mind. You can see the dedication and the passion.

Third, the secret videos. For those who don't know, on certain pages (I only discovered two for now) there will appear bug gifs (butterfly, beetle, etc). When you click on them, a FREAKING VIDEO APPEARS. A VIDEO. LIVE FOOTAGE TOO, NOT ANIMATION. Under it there's a transcript of what characters are there and what they say. From the two I found, they seem to be about Frank and that something is happening to his garden and he discusses it with other residents. The videos end/glitch out when he asks Wally about his opinion on whatever they're talking about and to be fair, it scared the everliving hell out of me the first time it happened, I literally got jumpscared- I'm discovering more as of writing this and I found more, this one with Eddie and Howdy, but they seem to be just talking. What is the thing that brings all the videos together is the Wally glitchout.

Also the 8bit gifs are so pretty I can't-

♡ ⸺ Small details about myself (interests and love language, for example): My main love language is quality time, then gift-giving, I always do my best to support my loved ones when they need it or are sharing their interests, and I like to surprise my close friends with random stuff that reminds me of them or that I know they'd like. I like to draw, I read webtoons of all kinds religiously, some are egregiously bad and I enjoy ripping into them after the awful disappointment, but if they're THAT bad from the get-go I just drop them, unless the carwreck is so baffling it borders on entertainment. I like videogames, currently playing Marvel Rivals and looking forward to inZOI (realistic sims competitor), though my computer suffers when I start ✨️gaming✨️. I have Stardew Valley if anyone wants to play it, and I really like MMORPGS. I also like Death Note, Alien Stage (I'll never forgive Vivinos), zombie movies and social deduction games (or reality shows where you have to find the mole or something similar, I like competition reality shows where people vote for who gets eliminated, it just tickles my brain right) Hatsune Miku and Teto #1 but I like all music genres except for country music. I'm careful about my info online, I've been on the internet since I was little, when it was the wild west out there, so if I withold some info, its my ingrained stranger danger paranoia, but I'm also impulsive, get bored quickly (of activities/interests, not people!), and don't think a lot, hence why I'm here. I literally just discovered this tumblr and I'm sending my stuff in! You only live once and I'm too curious to see if people actually reach out. Also please reccomend webtoons to read! Or books, I should probably read more books. As you can probably tell by how this is written, I jump from topic to topic all the time, but I try my best.

♡ ⸺ Extra information: Awful nonsensical accent, awkward, quick speech and a high-pitched voice, imagine if xQc tripped over his words even more than he already does (disclaimer, I don't like that guy).
