Update : I'm not against people having kids at a young age, it's my french ass who can't understand why you would want children at 20 !!! Like, you're just out of high school, do something of your life ! (It's maybe because university is too cheap) So to avoid misunderstanding, I'm just saying that from my french point of view, Levy and Gajeel should enjoy before having kids.

Of course we will not talk about the fact her personality has been erased since she's pregnant (and maybe before)

Mashima Taichi is such a good character. He's the stereotypical guy who has everything, except he doesn't have the one thing he really wants. Or maybe two things. He makes success look easy, but it's because of all of the hard work he puts in when no one is looking. He's a coward because he has to be perfect.

I just rewatched episode 7 where we get our first look into his mind while playing karuta, and it always gives me chills. Then, when he opens up about his struggles to Tsutomu and gets embarrassed you feel that. This is the guy who is always putting up a front. Always being perfect. And here he admits how hard he struggles, and how much it hurts to lose, and how that makes winning so much more powerful.

I mentioned it in a post but I want to make a side one:

I wish Mashima would've actually given flashback episodes with specifically Layla and Jude before they got married and had Lucy. As well as us being able to see how much Jude changed following Layla's death.

I wish we could've seen him got from someone who was work driven but loving, into someone who had a strained relationship with Lucy due to her leaning so heavily into loving magic after her mother died, while he hated and blamed it for killing Layla. It wouldn't be able to be super stretched out, but give the Heartfilia family 2 episodes of backstory and allow us to see Jude as a complicated person who ultimately did horrible things in the wake of his grief.

Don't have Jude randomly become poor, instead have him stay wealthy and keep his distance from Lucy as he acknowledged his own faults and worked on bettering himself before reaching out to her again. By the time this happens she van already be gone on tenrou Island, leading to Jude pouring all his finances into keeping fairy tail up and running so that Lucy could have a family to return to when she got back. Not intending to coerce her into speaking to him, but because he knows fairy tail cares about her and she loves that guild and it's members.

It would make his death so much more tragic and allow for a better redemption to his character than what we got and make the emotions around his death feel less weird.
