First of all, THE RAFAEL REDEMPTION ARC CONTINUES! Rafael trying so hard not to take credit, and then the way Stilinski makes him take it, and then THE HANDSHAKE. And the way Scott looks at it and just, like, fully acknowledges that and processes it so quickly and with literally no words...ahhhh. Man this show is really good at making me decide I don't hate characters anymore (except Gerard. He can still go f*ck himself.).

Secondly, LYDIA NO!! GODD*MMIT LYDIA!! TELL SCOTT!! TRUST YOUR POWERS!! PLEASE!!! GOD F*CKING D*MMIT!!! YOU HAVE THESE POWERS FOR A REASON!! YOU JUST NEED TO FIGURE THEM OUT!! But YOU CAN DO IT!!! I PROMISE!! PLEASE TRUST YOURSELF!!!

AND THEN, that scene between Melissa and Noah where they've both been suspecting Stiles' mom's dementia as the cause (even though THAT'S NOT WHAT IT IS GOSH DARNAT) is breaking my heart in two stooooop. They've both been thinking it for so long and that's not even what it is and it's gonna give them a reason to write off the supernatural element behind it and it's just gonna make Stiles feel even worse and I just...*SCREAMS* (it will give me that hospital scene, though, so...AGAIN! Gotta have the hurt to get the comfort I GUESS.)

Also, the way that Scott is soooo lost at school without Stiles and without answers on how to help him. Like, that boy is literally his everything, and without him, Scott just looks like he is losing all functionality. Like, he ignores Kira, he's slouched and slumped and upset, and he's just, like, going through the motions of his day, but is so clearly out of it and unfocused and I just....F*CK I LOVE SCILES SO MUCH!!!

And THANK GOD Derek is figuring it out, and THANK GOD for Aiden and his eavesdropping that he wasn't supposed to be doing, because SOMEBODY HAS TO SOLVE THIS, because Lydia doesn't trust herself, and Scott isn't gonna be able to do anything when he's this worried about Stiles, and Allisaac is busy investigating what may or may not be a lead, and Kira and Deaton don't really know enough to help us, and STILES IS LOST IN HIS OWN HEAD, and AHHHHHH PLEASE PUT THE PIECES TOGETHER DEREK BECAUSE WE NEED A SOLUTION GOSH DARNAT!!

Anyways.

I said the next post was gonna have the hospital scene, but I haven't technically gotten there yet, so here's a different Sciles gif because the pained and defeated look on Scott's face at school just SENT me.

You have no idea how normal I am about my monster OCs. They're so lovely just let me—ahhh!

Hawthorn is a Mothman monster. His wings are based on the garden tiger moth and he is so fluffy! He has a thick fuzz on his neck and chest and is a warm, cuddlebug. He also possesses bright orange eyes that pierce the darkness and startle the unfortunate late-night hikers or anyone piercing into the woods after midnight.

He has a thing for hanging out in the thick woods near where the MC lives. Wherever he goes, bad omens follow. He really shouldn't be near MC—he knows he'll be the death of his precious little human, but he can't help it. He's drawn to the MC like a moth to a flame (heheh). He's delightful and gentlemanly, but don't let that fool you. He's got a possessive stretch a mile wide and does not take kindly to anyone giving the MC looks or reaching out for a too-familiar touch. He will bristle and buzz, and fly swift and silent through the darkness to chase after anyone to ensure the MC stays all to himself. He is a bad omen, after all.

Grease is an oil demon! He feeds off of fear, literally, and delights in terrifying people in the night. His body is slick and iridescent, and he is constantly dripping black goo from his person. He is capable of shifting his form to hide in a puddle, slink underneath doors, or bubble through a crack in a broken window. He's got wicked sharp teeth, and eyes like a tiger but with a pale, unsettling blue color. He possesses tendrils on his head that constantly drip and a long, slick tail that he can use to grab MC by the ankle. He's terribly seductive and charming, terrifying but mischievous. He likes to say 'boo' just to watch MC jump. Of course, he's not all tang and salt. He's got a sweet side that rouses in a protectiveness over MC. He's possessive, sure, and he's marked his claim with the oil stains on MC's work apron, but he's got an ooey-gooey center of sweetness that MC occasionally finds when he blushes at a stray touch or a nice comment about him.

Calmo 91, otherwise just called Calmo, is a robot. Constructed in the 90s with a box TV screen head to match, he has bright yellow optics in the screen face along with thick wires falling behind his head in a ponytail-like fashion. He is cool and difficult to read but wickedly intelligent and learning much about humans and affections. His body is a thin endoskeleton with plastic matt gray coverings that give peeks of blue, red, and yellow wires at his metallic joints. He's got a mysterious past the MC is attempting to unravel that he truly wishes the MC would leave be. He's got much to learn about technology but he quickly figures out how to connect to the MC's phone for texting, phone calls, and other useful things of course, like keeping tags on where MC is and monitoring MC's heart rate. Useful tools. Modern technology. Living in the MC's house, he gets to spend more domestic time with the human he decided is kind and generous, but the MC occasionally finds him at the foot of the bed in the darkness, his yellow optics strangely switched to red until the MC says his name and his optics revert back to yellow again.

at face value, heck yeah!! using her tail as a pulley system to tie up the boat?? so clever :) (and being able to wrap her tail around all that after the boat starts falling, before it loses much height - that’s very fast, accurate tail extension! what if she’d accidentally bonked her tail into any of those metal beams down there instead of going between them? she wouldn’t have made it in time if she did bonk!)

but you look closer… and it might not be that clever. in fact, it looks like a mistake.

(at the dark purple question mark, her tail’s path isn’t very clear. i went with ‘repeating the pattern’ around a part of the boat we couldn’t see in blue, which would then wrap around at the angle you see her tail stretch left, out from the question mark.)

it’s wrapped around the whole boat, so where’s the problem…?

the problem is: leverage (or whatever the word is for pulleys & ropes).

in the leftmost diagram, we see the dots - the anchor points of the rope - are at equal height. at a resting point, they will both hold the weight up with their own material integrity; that is, it will stay at the resting height unless the material breaks.

in the middle diagram, the ‘anchor point’ for the right rope has moved lower; the bar it holds the weight up towards is far lower, and the excess is wrapped over to tie to the ground. again, at resting position, it will remain there while the material holds.

in the right diagram, the rope arrangament is the same as the middle one, but now we’re applying pull force to bring the weight upwards. at this level, due to where the right rope is ‘anchored’ on the bar, no matter what force is applied, it cannot raise the weight any higher than that bar - only the rope on the left could pull it higher, or support its weight in a higher position.

applied to this situation:

the blue sections are parts where tangle’s tail can support the boat just by wrapping around and staying in place, pretty much; it’s a net woven around that just needs to not slip. the orange sections are where the only provable anchor point above the boat is tangle herself! (and i will note that the way she’s holding her tail here, her tail is almost certainly not the limb doing most of the pulling - for it to angle so much before and after her grip on it, it can’t be tensed. to better clarify - if you have long hair, and something pulls on your hair, it pulls your scalp. unless you grab your hair with a hand and pull it closer to your scalp, and then all the active tension is redirected through your arms.)

which means that for the boat to stay where it is - above the ‘blue level’ - tangle is actively pulling it higher! pulling the entire weight of the boat up.

so how hard is this - how heavy is the boat? in this panel, it looks like a relatively small boat; maybe a dinghy? dinghies can have those ribbed sides, and are generally round, and it could weigh somewhere between 100-200lbs, and be a little tough to carry…

nope! it is some type of motor boat (perhaps a skiff). you can see a propeller under the ‘cinch’, so it has a motor… and if you look at the rest of the page, it has at least 7 seats (presumably 8), so it has to be large enough to hold at least 7 people!

i’m not acquainted with boats so i had to do some digging - and most of the ones i found at first had consoles/raised walls/less seats than this one, which weren’t exactly a fair weight comparison. i also didn’t want to try to calculate precisely how long this boat is, since the angles are off and hard to calculate from this perspective.

so, instead i looked at a few different types of boat to get rough estimated of weights, and then i’d roughly downsize that based off estimates of how much smaller a boat for ~3ft people needs to be!

i went through a handful of similar motorboats (mostly 1-4 people, but with added physical features to add weight) and found weights between 1,000lb to 2,000lb depending on length (18-22+ feet). a yamaha 195S is 19’5” long, and 2,509lb - but a nitro z18 is 18’8” and 1,700lb. the only good visualizers i found were charts for what motor horsepower to use for what length and weight:

so it was super hard to get a good estimate of the weight here!! like super hard!! so i’m just doing a vague whatever conservative estimate and someone else can do proper math!!!

if you half the length to a presumed 10ft long - which i’m not sure is properly long enough for this boat, i’d guess somewhere between 12-15ft - and then quarter the 20ft weight to try to account for the square-cube law, you get a guesstimate of a boat weighing about 500lb. if you’re conservative with it, maybe 400lb?

which, to keep from tipping out away from the metal cradle, lowering to the level of tangle’s tail wrapped around underneath, & be held upright as tangle is doing, has to be fully supported - and as noted earlier, without real assistance from tangle’s tail’s strength, this is just her arms.

now, you could assume tangle simply wrapped that mystery segment of tail around the cradle bar she’s standing on, and this would allow much more of the boat’s weight to be supported by her tail’s structure… but it’d have to be an awkward angle for her tail to do that and it to not be visible next to her feet or in the empty space to the right, which would also put some more of the strain on her arms/body instead of her tail, so she’d stil be doing a lot!

and especially if you estimate the boat closer to 12-15ft, which is closer to 600-750lb, that gets crazier…

PLUS the fact that she had to hold that weight up for at LEAST as long to ask them to hurry & tie the boat up, AND as long as it took for the others to actually work something up/fix the cradle to hold the boat and relieve tangle of it.

conclusion: this is canon

Ok! Look, I don't like when I push my commissions either, but I kinda have to now. My dad has been unable to work since January due to heart problems, has been given the run around by his employer about getting leave and making a claim for temporary disability, and he's run out of money with no certainty as to when he will be paid again or how much. My work study position isn't quite enough to push us through this on it's own. We're behind on bills, need to feed ourselves and our animals, and need to keep the car fueled. It's tiring and stressful

Basically, what I'm saying is that if y'all could commission me, that would be super helpful. If you can't, that's fine and understandable. I really don't want to guilt or burden anyone here. Everyone is struggling right now, and I honestly don't expect much because of that.

Hollow Knight x TGCF Au (I need a cool name for this lol)

Ok so I finally figured out the general plotline for this au!

You first meet Xie Lian next to the area where the gravedigger ghost is in Dirtmouth. He's seemingly muttering to himself unless you already have the dreamnail, in which case it's fairly clear that he's talking and responding to the gravedigger. He mentions something about being a wanderer, but that he's been feeling a pull within the depths of this kingdom.

Few places you can meet him after this. Resting next to a bench, looking up at the statue in city, and various locations where it's pretty obvious he just fell down a hole.

You might get only some of these before you trigger his main event by going back to the tunnels under the resting grounds after you go through the first time. You'll see his hat and bag haphazardly fallen next to a patch of ground that is continuously shaking and making the dive-able location noise without you walking over it. You can free him by doing the dive spell, and then meet him at the godseeker/sarcophogus afterwards, were it becomes clear that this is what was drawing him down into hallownest.

As for Hua Cheng, you can find his body in the area behind the coliseum where you have to chase down the Pale Lurker. His ghost will pop up, and if you talk to him you will ask you to please look for a wanderer in a golden mask for him, as he cannot leave his body and his senses only go so far. You can talk to him again after seeing Xie Lian at least once, whether before or after you first meet Hua Chang, and he will ask you to deliver a delicate flower to Xie Lian. If you agree a small silver butterfly will fly towards you during the scene where you gain it. You can get various dialogues from him about his devotion for Xie Lian and his search for him that's ended in his death.

Now, endings for our couple! There are several ways this can go.

Xie Lian can either be saved from the hole and then show up again at the godseeker in the trashpit, or he can become infected if you fail to save him either before the crossroads become infected or you fight him in godhome. If you fail to save him before then and go back to the area the patch of ground will only shake when you walk over it, and if you dive down you'll find him infected stuck in a hole. A white cloth band will attack you occasionally if you get too close(fool eater style), and if you dreamnail Xie Lian post infection you'll get some very devastating lines about him still trying to escape from being buried alive. You can hit infected Xie Lian as many times as you want, but after a certain amount the only thing that happens is a flash. he doesn't die.

With Hua Cheng if you attack him at any point, or if you let Xie Lian be infected after taking the flower quest and then go see Hua Cheng again, you'll trigger his boss fight. Ghost King Hua Cheng! Defeating him and absorbing his essence obliviously means the end of him except for in godhome.

You can only deliver the delicate flower to Xie Lian outside of Godseeker, although if you visit him after he gets infected more than once you'll find that a patch of delicate flowers have grown up above and around him, implying that Hua Cheng was able to find him and that's why he attacks you if you go back.

If you deliver the delicate flower to Xie lian by the godseeker he'll remark that it seems faintly familiar, and then the butterfly that was originally seen will pop out and go to Xie Lian. he'll be struck by surprise, and the next time you go down he'll be missing from next to the godseeker. Some backtracking will show you that his new final location is sitting next to Hua Cheng's corpse, amiably chatting away.

Xie Lian's godhome fight can have a few variations. It begins with him on the other side of the arena sitting in his usual gear, and then a black nail is flung down from the ceiling, blasting away his hat and bag and revealing him as Banished Prince Xie Lian! The background will be either the Trash Pit or the resting grounds with some delicate flowers depending on wether or not you saved him. if you completed the delicate flower quest a cloud of silver butterflies will appear during the opening sequence as well, and dispel the seal on him, giving you the Flower Prince Xie Lian fight with the background of a golden palace filled with delicate flowers!

Hua Cheng just gets his Ghost King fight, but if you succeed in reuniting them there will be Xie Lian hanging out in the background during his fight!

Hello tumblr! So, astute readers of my blog might have noticed, but I got thrown out by my landlord in January! With an illegal 3-day notice! After paying for rent!! So I've been scratching by on a diaabled food service paycheck, the love of my roommates, my partner's mom, and a lot of debt for the past 2 months or so!

Also, my storage is late and they're gonna charge me like 50$ if I don't get that shit sorted like, soon. I would appreciate not losing everything I own if possible.

I would usually offer commissions or art for this sort of thing, but I injured my wrist in November! And I've been running fevers for the past few days! Things seem dire, no?

Fear not, for I have been approved for a house! However, I require some assistance from the internet! After budgeting and calling around, I am still 500$ short of a house deposit.
