THE GREATEST GAMING TURNAROUND OF ALL TIME?
You read that right. Bold we know, but hear us out. When No Man’s Sky originally launched back in 2016, it felt like it was going to be special. Hello Games seemed confident they were creating a very strong title that would surprise us all that summer. For the record, surprise us it did - but for all the wrong reasons.
With the bubbling excitement around the game, the media were of course expecting big things from what was a very small team. This knock on effect also drove the hype to all those behind their computer screens, phones, tablets, you name it. We had high hopes here at TGC HQ too! We recall it pre-ordering very well and were keen to get a sense of space exploration ourselves.
Then came launch. “Blast-off!” if you will. Only for it to come haggardly down in a flickering pile of what might have been. When it comes to more recent releases, it seems right to also mention C***rpunk here. Both titles were pretty much how you don’t go about launching video games that aren’t ready. We should state that No Man’s Sky was able to actually run for the most part during gameplay - but features originally stated to be present were nowhere to be seen.
Multiplayer. Ahh yes, that mode where you join your mates for a gaming session online. The good ol’ feature that in this case, would allow you and friends to trawl the wonders of outer space together, discovering planets and signs of alien life. Sounds great! If only it was available from launch. This is where a lot of people, ourselves included, felt misled.
The months that followed were eerily quiet from Hello Games. The noise came from us gamers! Wanting to know why this had happened and what was being done to fix it. Well... Good things came to those who waited. Once the anger had subsided and the patience paid off - Hello Games began to deliver with updates, what we’d been waiting for. Not just that, their level of player support post launch has been hailed as exemplary! After all, most us can understand that it’s best to judge on how a mistake is put right, rather than how it was made in the first place. We’re only human.
Sean Murray and team should be proud of where they’ve taken this title after a truly turbulent initial launch. But they’re not done yet... Let’s talk about the release of the game’s 17th free update called Frontiers. This one’s absolutely jam-packed with content that’ll widen the eyes of even the most experienced explorers!
Hit play on the trailer above and you’ll be treated to a wonderful mixture of new features that include procedurally generated alien settlements, learning their stories and helping them develop thriving communities. Constructing your own grand structures with new base parts and new building tools, as well as taking on the role of Overseer. This puts you in charge of settler disputes and trusts you’ll make a fair judgment to keep the peace!
No Man’s Sky has redeemed itself tenfold and continues to morph not just into what we were promised originally, but a hell of a lot more! Hats off to you, Hello Games, and to you more specifically, Sean Murray! We hope you all enjoy the update as much as we’re going to.
See you in space...

Repost from @alexvaldez1992 using @_repostplus • #PredatorHuntingGrounds is Coming to PC & PS4 on April 24th and New Trailer! #Sony’s latest episode of State of Play has just finished and with it came an updated look at #Predator: Hunting Grounds that not only revealed the game’s release date, but a revealed a slew of new elements including a female Predator archer! And now an extended trailer has been uploaded Sony’s social channels revealing that the game is also coming to PC! We now have a release date for Predator: Hunting Grounds. It’s dropping on both PlayStation and PC (via the Epic Store) on April 24th, two days prior to Alien Day so it’s looking like a busy week for #Alien and Predator fans! Those that pre-order the game will receive an exclusive ’87 Predator skin, and early access to Blain’s ‘Ole Painless’ mini-gun! If you’ve read my hands-on report from EGX 2019, you’ll have seen some footage of Hunting Ground’s “Hunter” class in action. This new trailer has shown off a further 2 classes, Berserker and Scout, in addition to several alternate skins for each class. We also got our first look at what appears to be a female Predator archer! The trailer gave us a glimpse at the as-yet-unnamed-class skin, as well as footage of the bow itself in action! In a new post on the #PlayStationBlog, Illfonic CEO spoke in more detail about the inclusion! “When we first came up with what this game would be, I knew we had to create a world where this ultimate female warrior would exist too. We had fun imagining her backstory which helped us create a fierce warrior that any gamer will have fun playing. She is agile, fast, and relentless. She is a huntress without fear and she thrives in the hunt. In the trailer we see her with a weapon that IllFonic created, the #Yautja Bow. “This is no ordinary bow, it deals massive damage to its prey and will pin the enemy to walls and other structures at death. She has access to the entire Predator arsenal as well.Speaking of the Predator arsenal…this trailer was one of the hardest but rewarding to make because we had so much to share about our Predators. We wanted to be certain we conveyed that the Predator, male and female, is t https://www.instagram.com/p/B56V2j8j2iC/?igshid=g8rlh2ugjtb

‘FINAL FANTASY VII: REMAKE’ - REVIEW ROUNDUP!
In these difficult times we’re here to lift your spirits! If you’ve pre-ordered the Final Fantasy VII: Remake with us then we can confirm that all pre-orders have now been dispatched! We’re very confident its with you in time for this Friday’s release date - so just sit back, relax, and take a look at the glowing review roundup from the big names that we’ve compiled below! Midgar awaits...
GameRevolution - 5/5
“Square Enix took a gamble with Final Fantasy VII Remake, and not everyone is going to be happy with it. This will likely be a divisive title amongst the fanbase. However, I’m someone who played the original game when it released, and it’s one of my favourite games of all time, and I was absolutely thrilled with this reimagining. My recommendation is to go into Midgar with an open mind and allow it to wash over you. Final Fantasy VII Remake is a video game experience we only get every once in a while, and it’s one of the best titles I’ve ever had the pleasure of playing.”

Gamespot - 10/10
“Regardless of your history with the original game, Final Fantasy VII Remake is an astounding achievement. The wait for its release was a long one, but in gameplay, story, characters, and music, it delivers--the wait was worth it. For first-time players, it's an opportunity to understand why Final Fantasy VII is held in such high regard. It's the chance to experience a multifaceted story that grapples with complex subject matter, be in the company of memorable characters, and be moved by their plight. For returning fans, this isn't the Final Fantasy VII your mind remembers, it's the one your heart always knew it to be.”

GamesRadar - 4.5/5
“Final Fantasy 7 Remake is a spectacle from start to finish. You can tell how much care has been taken to bring this story back to life for modern audiences. As a retelling of a classic with plenty of surprises in store, the Remake offers engaging experiences for longtime fans and newcomers alike. Its action-packed combat, engrossing story, and gorgeously detailed setting successfully reminds you why Final Fantasy 7 is beloved by so many.”

Eurogamer - Recommended
“One of the worst things about the Final Fantasy 7 Remake is how long we'll have to wait for the next instalment - and the other thing we can't talk about for fear of spoilers. But I feel safe in saying that, for the most part, the Final Fantasy 7 Remake gave me everything I was looking for. What I think it got right another fan may disagree with, and that doesn't mean either of us are wrong. Changes have been made, but the core essence and spirit of Final Fantasy 7 has been preserved brilliantly. Will it still be enjoyable and accessible to newcomers? That I can't be so sure of, but I believe so. What future instalments have in store, who knows, but this Remake gives us some beautiful moments in a universe some players have spent 23 years falling in love with. That alone is pretty special.”
GameInformer - 8.75/10
“Regardless of what the future holds, Final Fantasy VII Remake finds an impressive equilibrium between its past and its present. Square Enix nods to the original without depending on that familiarity, crafting a distinctive world and exciting combat system that feel modern. The new approach still has rough edges, but that doesn’t stop Final Fantasy VII Remake from carving out its own legacy.”
Destructoid - 9/10
“I kind of agonised over rating Final Fantasy VII Remake. It's going to garner a lot of discussion from people who are both blown away by the new treatment and disappointed by it, and those feelings are not mutually exclusive. In the end — after thinking on it for some time and removing nostalgia from the equation entirely — I came to the conclusion that this world is full of powerful characters and a setting that's worth remembering: remake or not.”
So there we have it! Over 20 years seems like a wait that was worth going through...
Take care and stay safe!
