next chapter's summary makes me think this is unlikely but i hope mal loses his shit next chapter. he was already on the edge of losing his shit all day today (trying to kill valax, the talks about his fear of fucking up, even if u don't romance him and don't take the diamond scenes) and it draws my attention that the last panel was not MC being swept by the tide but mal's reaction to it (again, regardless of whether or not you romance him)

it's pretty clear to me that mal is fucking terrified of losing MC (or any of his friends) again and he's already carrying survivor's guilt the size of god, made worse by the fact that he's blaming himself for shadow nia. so to (possibly) lose MC again when he was right next to them? i really think it might cause a full breakdown, possibly of the crying variety but, from everything we've seen, most likely of the desperately violent, willing to do anything variety. i wanna see him jump right into the tide and almost get himself killed again. i wanna see him tear the shadow realm apart until he finally founds MC again (since the summary implies MC gets lost from the rest of the group). i wanna see him find MC and immediately try to fucking kill valax

and all I'm saying is: if there was ever a time for a shadow!mal reveal.....

I saw some people on reddit bring up the theory that MC probably wasn’t constantly asleep the entire year and they did have memories of being experimented on but Valax made them forget. And honestly this would be such a good idea I can’t get over it.

Like MC has been so busy so far and they haven’t really had time to think about what happened or really reflect, but that could also partly be due to an unconscious coping mechanism from their mind too. It could be one of those things where MC’s mind could be purposely trying to block it out because it was painful/traumatic.

What if in the future chapters, the memories start coming back to MC and they start remembering everything?

Honestly I’m not confident at all that this is really what the writers are doing, and I also think it would probably be darker than they want for this book. There’s also the fact that I think they’re going to make Valax a LI by the end of the book and they can’t really give her a redemption if they say she was doing more painful stuff to MC. But maybe if they do it, they could make it give more backstory to Valax in a flashback scene and show that she was being forced to it by her mother or something like that.

Although it was Callum who won the poll, I ended up thinking about how Arthur could have ended up as Cyborg before seeing the results and ended up having to make him after thinking on the backstory.

After Agravaine escaped, he released Merlin from his imprisonment, forcing Arthur to take up his sword once more alongside Lancelot. But things were different this time around as Merlin had spent his time plotting a way to put a stop to Arthur, Guinevere, and the Knights of the Round Table.

As Arthur and Lancelot fought back against him, he opened up a portal and sent both of them through. When Arthur re-emerged from the portal, he was gravely wounded and was taken to the hospital.

Hearing of the man who came through a portal, Nick Gallant went to investigate. Once he saw Arthur, he used his technology as well as working with Norma Kayoda to save Arthur and give him a new cybernetic body.

Once he came to properly, Arthur was surprised at how unsurprised Nick seemed at everything. It was then that Arthur learned of all the heroes of the modern age.

Due to all the technology in his body and his ability to connect to all kinds of tech, he adjusted to the modern world relatively quickly. He also was able to learn of the outcome of the battle against Merlin. Of how Guinevere, Morgana, and the Knights of Camelot were able to re-imprison Merlin, making sure that there was no way for him to return.

Now living as the hero, Cyborg, Arthur lives his new life with only one question... Where is Lancelot?

It's... interesting how chill Alpha MC is with murder for someone who is supposed to be a regular college student. Of course, the player has a choice in who kills Markus in the finale, but one of the choices literally has MC murdering the guy in cold blood. There is no excuse about him being a monster or anything, he's just a regular human guy (albeit an awful one). It doesn't even happen accidentally in the heat of the battle. MC drives an arrow through his chest while Kala is holding him down and then they go on to have a party and I'm like uuuh are we not gonna address what just happened? Any reflection or repercussions? Like, there is a dead body in the room, are we gonna talk about this or—

Reading the new lore tablet really just confirmed my theory from chapter 2, but I think I have it a bit more fleshed out now. I think the creation of The Watcher was what split the realms in two. And if they ever become whole again, The Watcher will die or cease to exist. He even says that he’s pretty much existed since the realms came into being himself.

But the realms are constantly trying to get back to their natural state and have been since their initial separation. It might not have been noticeable at first, but as time went on, the “rifts” got bigger because the realms were moving closer and closer together. And this happens every time The Watcher resets them.

How does he reset them though? By using realm-walkers. I don’t think he can leave the space between the realms. So he needs someone who can travel freely to close the rifts. He probably gave all of the past realm-walkers the same little spiel he gave MC. And once they close all the rifts, the realms are pushed farther apart, The Watcher can live a few hundred years more, and the realm-walker dies — maybe because closing the rifts has some sort of negative effect on them or it just eats up too much of their light — which explains all of their mysterious disappearances.

The “Old gods” thought they were doing the people of Morella a favor by separating Light and Shadow since they considered magic to be inherently dangerous. But in doing so, they caused everyone to have to pay a terrible price every time they use their “pure” Light magic and most likely exacerbated, if not created, the strife that exists between Light and Shadow

Thinking about how much I'd enjoy it if PB did a soulmates book. And I mean just absolutely leaning into the soulmate tropes (timers, name on body, first words, grayscale vision, any of it).

It would probably be single-LI, and if they did it well, I wouldn't mind, but a cool concept would be if it were multi-LI but the thing is that theirs and MC's soulmate indicators aren't manifesting yet (maybe they appear at a set age, or only after soulmates fall in love, etc.) and then whichever LI you had the most soulmate interactions with is coded as your endgame LI and turns out to be MC's soulmate.

Idk, I was just thinking about which literary tropes PB's done and soulmate AUs are tied for first place fanfic trope of all time for me, so I am beyond curious as to how it would look in a Choices book.

You had been busy in the kitchen since finishing work, Adrian was stuck in a meeting that didn’t require you to be there so you had ended up back down in the penthouse cooking up a storm. It was only a couple of weeks since the two of you had officially become a couple so you wanted to impress him with your cooking skills, in a way that you had tried countless times to do with the numerous dates that had failed before even meeting the man of your dreams. You’d just finished putting the cheesecake in the fridge to set whilst the vegetables simmered and the meat for your main course cooked when you feel a pair of arms wrap around your waist.

“What have we here?” you hear him whisper in your ear

“Oh, hi Adrian. I thought your meeting would be for a little while longer so I was cooking for you” you say nervously turning in his arms to look up and see warmth in his blue gaze.

“You cooked for me?” he asks a little bit stunned and you nod

“I hope that’s okay, I know we normally order take out after a meeting or you cook for me but I wanted to surprise you” you say and he smiles placing a kiss on your lips to silence you

“It’s okay Y/N, my sweet. I can’t wait to try it” he says, before letting you go and heading towards the bedroom to change into something a little more comfortable.

When Adrian returns to the kitchen less than five minutes later your platting up the main meal. He smells it and smiles

“That smells delicious” he says and you smile a little hesitantly

“Well I hope it tastes delicious too” you say as you put the plate down in front of him and he takes the first bite of meat and vegetables together, your on your way back to the table with your own plate of food when he asks

“Did you make this?” 

“Yes…is it not good? I’m sorry.” you say, looking down at the plate in your hands ashamed that again you seemed to have failed to impress anyone with your cooking “No, no. It’s good, heck, it’s great!” he says as he gets to his feet and takes your plate out of your hands, placing it on the table so that he can wrap his arms around you

“My sweet, who had you doubting yourself so much?” he asks and you look away from his gaze, not wanting to answer his question, embarrassed by the answer. 

“What is it?” he asks

“Its embarrassing” you say, feeling vulnerable all of a sudden, like the impossible age gap between you is finally rearing its head. He tilts your head up and says

“I don’t care whether its embarrassing Y/N, it apparently has effected you and your self-esteem. So why are you doubting yourself so much?” 

“My exes, guys I used to date and try to impress, I would try to cook for them and they would tell me that my cooking is sh*t” you say admitting to him of your failure.

“Don’t ever doubt yourself again my sweet, okay. What you’ve just cooked is incredible and I have years of experience of what good food tastes like okay. Please, come and join me at the table? And enjoy this delicious meal you made” he says and you can’t help but swoon at the words that leave his mouth. Your doubt hadn’t completely disappeared but it was no longer screaming at you as you sat across from your boyfriend.
