"We hit them here. Assuming they will be waiting for us to hit them earlier in the transport because of our surprise attack last time, let's wait a bit more until they cross this-" Veronica circled an area on the map with red paint using her finger, "to attack them. Like we discussed before, Tarsem will place the bombs by the tracks and activate them. The track gets destroyed and the train breaks. Na'vi on ground will collect all the goods in the train. Everything that is of use to us. Na'vi on sky will handle the helicopters."
She observed all the warriors. "Am I clear?"
They all answered with a firm yes, a nod of respect sent her way. Veronica looked at Jake and nodded. The simple gesture from her told him that the brief was done.
"Warriors, get ready!" announced Jake. The tent was instantly filled war cries, filling each na'vi inside with determination. The RDA destroyed their home once, they wont allow it to happen again. One by one, they left.
The Olo'eyktan watched as each of them exited the tent until his gaze stopped on two distinctive figures. He sighed, "Neteyam and Lo'ak, stay for a moment."
Veronica and Neytiri shared a knowing look. Their two sons weren't meant to be part of the raid because it was too dangerous. The first raid took five of their warriors lives and many injured, and fortunately Neteyam and Lo'ak weren't too stubborn about joining. This time they begged days on end about being a part of it.
Every time, Jake replied no without hesitation. He might claim they weren't prepared or that it was too perilous, but his two wives understood deep down that it was just because he didn't want the sight of their blood out there. Heck, he was already worried about Veronica and Neytiri being part of the raid. Thinking about his sons in the field will give him a headache.
The brothers glanced at each other before standing in front of him. Jake eyed them intensely as he spoke. "You're spotters, you got it? Spot bogeys and alert us if there are any," he reminded.
They nodded. "Yes, sir."
Their response didn't ease him, however. Jake knew it was an automatic response just for them to be granted permission. He stared at his younger son a bit longer before he nudged his head to the door. The boys walked away from their position and exited the tent. Their absence filled the place with silence as the adults just stood there and watched where they left.
Veronica lay her hand on his shoulder, and squeezed them gently. She smiled, "They will be fine."
"Yeah, I hope so," he mumbled, his head down.
"I am still against it," said Neytiri.
Veronica snapped her gaze towards her with furrowed brows. If there was one thing she knew about Neteyam and Lo'ak, it was that they would start to defy them little by little if they shielded them for too long.
"But," Neytiri continued, "our sons are strong. They know what to do."
Jake pursed his lips, his only response being a nod. The boys were too young for this in his eyes. Just because he wasn't human anymore, it didn't mean that he has forgotten his culture and beliefs. Neteyam's age may be considered the age of maturity, but to Jake he is still a kid.
Veronica tucked her knife in her sheath that was tied around her lower back above her tail. It was hard to stay positive in this situation because it seemed like Jake's anxiety passed to her. He isn't wrong to feel that way, no. She tried to overlook negative thoughts about them being there because the two were looking forward to this. They were driven to protect their home, and she doesn't blame them for that.
All the warriors crowded around the egde of High Camp with their ikrans. Vera, her ikran, stood out to her the most just because her colours are her favourite. She was painted with a mix of white, light blue, and green— colours that reminded her of the ocean.
"Can't believe we're spotters," Lo'ak grumbled. He shook the locks of the saddle on his ikran, making sure that it is fastened.
Neteyam sighed as he shook his head. "Be grateful. This is better than nothing."
The younger brother rolled his eyes. "Bet he only said yes cause Mama said so."
Lo'ak was sure that his life would have been more difficult if his mother wasn't there. She was the only person who understood him, who wouldn't yell at him for his mistakes and instead talk to him in a manner that he would understand what he did was wrong. His father's scoldings does give him a wake up call, but not enough to make him stop.
"And what about me?" Veronica arched an eyebrow as she approached them.
Neteyam smirked when he heard his brother curse under his breath as he was caught in the act.
"Nothing, mama."
"This skxawng said father only said yes because you said so, mom," said Neteyam. Lo'ak sent him a glare but he could care less. His baby brother was harmless as long as their mom was there.
Since the children have two mothers, they called them with different names to not confuse the women. There were too many instances when they were babies crying out for their mothers, but the mothers would always attend to them simultaneously. So, Neytiri was mother, while Veronica was mom. Although, Lo'ak called Veronica mama since he was little and he didn't grow away from that habit.
"Just so you know, I don't feel as confident anymore for letting the two of you out there. There are still ways you could help the clan and I would gladly find them," she said. Her words alerted the two teenagers immediately. Veronica smiled, but it didn't reach her eyes. "However, I trust you not to do anything stupid. Am I right to do so?"
Lo'ak nodded, his boyish grin stretched on his lips. "Mama, please, as if I would do something stupid at a time like this."
"You don't really have a good record for showing obedience in the worst times, ma'itan."
Neteyam chuckled, "Don't worry, mom. I will make sure he will stay put."
Somehow, I doubt that, she thought. The eldest son always managed to be tangled in his mess even if he doesn't want to, but she felt reassured that Lo'ak wasn't alone.
Looking at them stood at each others side made Veronica feel nostalgic. The image of them as children flashed through her head. They were yelling for her and running towards her with cheeky smiles, jumping into her arms. It seemed like time flew too fast. Now, they had matured and had a sense of responsibility.
"When did you grow so big?" Veronica sighed, tears welling up in her eyes. She drew Lo'ak into her embrace.
"Mom, stop," Lo'ak whined. His eyes looked around frantically with his cheeks flushed. He did not want to be treated like a prrnen in front of so many people.
"Hm, why?" she teased. "Do you have a girl I don't know about?"
"No, but-"
"I thought so." Veronica tightened her arms around her son, planting a kiss on his temple with a loud sound effect just to embarrass him more. She laughed as she heard him groan against her.  "My baby is so big now!"
"Mom!" he complained. Veronica laughed as she took a step away from her son, seeing his cheeks flushed from embarrassment entertained her.
She turned to Neteyam. "Ah, my bigger baby." Her arms were stretched away from her sides, an invitation. Unlike Lo'ak, Neteyam didn't shy away from her affection.
He felt so nervous about the raid that his hands started to sweat, but his nerves weren't enough to scare him away. He wondered how Lo'ak looked so calm, excited even. They were actually going to witness up close the damages the RDA could bring. But being wrapped around his mom's warmth relaxed him, even if it was just for a little while.
"Mom, are you in sky team?" he asked.
Veronica shook her head. "No, I am part of the ground team. Your mother is the one in sky team."
Neteyam felt a gentle kiss against his temple. She stepped back, her hands squeezed his shoulder comfortingly. "Everything will be fine, Teyam."
He thought hearing those words again would make him feel better, but it didn't.
Veronica wondered if her mother ever felt this way: her heart racing from anxiety, a knot in her stomach, and the palms of her hands sweaty just for being worried for her own daughters' safety. Although the chances are highley unlikely, it didn't hurt to wonder. She would consider her mother lucky if she had never felt that way because then she had nothing to fear.
The moment she didn't see her two sons in the sky like they were supposed to, panic started to kick in. She spotted their ikrans staying on the ground, their riders nowhere to be seen. Just as she was about to alarm Jake, gun ships came and fired at them.
Veronica hurried to take cover, not leaving her any time to search for her sons. She prayed that they were safe, and that everyone managed to escape the shots. She only felt her worries fade away when she saw Lo'ak flew away on his ikran, but it soon came back when Neteyam was being carried by Jake. He had scratches on his back, blood seeping out from it. Did every mother experience this?
They were currently at High Camp. She carressed Vera's head before approaching the boys.
"Mom! Mama!" Tuk ran towards the two women and tried to hug them both with her small arms. The youngest Sully would often call either of the mothers with different names, not that they mind. Like Lo'ak, Tuk didn't stray away from her habit in calling Veronica mama, but she does call Neytiri this sometimes.
Veronica smiled and pinched her cheek gently. She patted the small girl's back when she moved away, and continued to walk towards the boys. Neteyam stood in front of his father, his head hung low as he held his injured arm. Lo'ak stood still by his ikran, nervous for what's to come. How ironic.
"You're supposed to be spotters. You spot bogeys, and you call 'em in," Jake scolded furiously, his eyes dancing between them. "From a distance!" he emphasised. "Does any of this sound familiar? Get here!"
Lo'ak obeyed and stood beside his brother, ashamed. Veronica observed her youngest sons' back before she went to Neteyam who was injured. She clicked her tongue gently as she surveyed his injuries. There were numerous scratches on his back, but some cut deeper than the others. Kiri rushed to her side once she saw the condition her brother was in.
"Jesus. I let you two geniuses fly a mission, and you disobey direct orders." Jake sighed, "Kiri, can you go help your grandmother with the wounded? Please?"
"My brother is wounded," she pointed out.
"Baby girl, please. Tuk, go with her. Go."
Kiri sighed as she shook her head, walking away with Tuk.
"Dad– sir. I take full responsibility," said Neteyam, his head hung low still.
"Yeah, you do. That's right. 'Cause you're the older brother, you gotta act like it."
Neytiri gave her husband a pointed look. "MaJake. Your son is actually bleeding."
Neteyam shook his head. "Mother, it's fine. I-"
"No, it's not," Veronica cut him off. She looked at Jake with an arched eyebrow.
His gaze shifted between Neteyam's face and his injured body. For a moment, his anger diminished. "Just go and get patched up. Go on, dismissed."
"Come," she whispered for the young boy to hear. Her hand held his bicep as they walked past Jake. She shot Jake a knowing look before walking further, passing by warriors who were getting situated.
They walked in silence, and Neteyam was not sure if it was comfortable or not. He hadn't experienced getting a scolding from his mom, it would either be from his mother or father. Usually Jake on rare occurrences.
Neteyam pursed his lips. "Mom," he called weakly.
"How many times did you save your brothers back?" she asked softly.
He stayed silent.
"I know you are doing your job as the older brother, and you are doing it really well. But, a time will come when Lo'ak will have to grow too. He has to learn how to own up to his mistakes." Veronica held his shoulders, stopping him from entering the Tsahik's hut. She moved in front of him, cupping his cheek gently and made him look at her. "You do not have to try so hard. You are just a kid."
Neteyam's eyes widened, his eyes turning glossy. He wasn't so sure why his chest started to hurt. Maybe it was because his hard work was being acknowledged, or maybe it was because someone saw that he was trying. Couldn't his dad see that too?
As Veronica patted his cheek gently, she smiled, "Go on. I'll be right with you."
The boy only nodded, he feared that if he tried to speak, his voice would crack and tears would start spilling from his eyes. Her eyes searched for Lo'ak through the crowd and spotted him with the ikrans, removing the saddles. The upset look on his face made her sigh.
Mo'at crouched behind Neteyam's back as she applied medicine on his injuries. He would either yelp or hiss at the contact of his wounds. Spider was in the hut too, he would make jokes here and then about how Neteyam was acting like a baby out of it just to make him feel better. Veronica laughed quietly at his words. She was relieved that the tension wasn't there anymore, she didn't know if she could bare it.
Her eyes trailed from Neteyam's back then outside the hut, sensing a presence. She locked gazes with Neytiri before it shifted to Jake's back, busying himself with his gun. Veronica excused herself and told Kiri to take over, approaching Neytiri. The hair at the end of her tail brushed against her wife's thigh as she gave her a peck on the lips.
Neytiri's hand caressed her arm, but her eyes stayed on the boys. Neteyam's grunts of pain could still be heard from where they're standing. He never had injuries like this, never this worse. Her tail swished behind her like something was on her mind.
Jake glanced behind him. He sighed, "What?"
"Neteyam and Lo'ak try to live up to you. It is very hard on them," said Neytiri. She faced her husband expectantly.
"I know." He refused to meet their eyes and focused on the weapon in his hand.
Neytiri kneeled beside him. "You are very hard on them."
Veronica sat beside the other side of Jake to hear their conversation better. Their voices were low to ensure that none of the children heard it.
"I'm their father. It's my job," he pressed.
"This is not a squad. It is a family." Her voice remained soft, and it was enough to break his walls down.
Jake placed his gun on the ground, clenching his fist on his knees. "I thought we'd lost them," he whispered. Tears glossed into his eyes as he looked at the two women, the only people who he could feel vulnerable around with.
It was difficult to stay away from long-term habits. Being a marine meant seeing a lot of difficult situations, he was forced to keep it together and be tough. Seeing his sons affected by the explosion made him lose all of his composure and he didn't know how to deal with it. He was still learning, but everytime he felt like he was getting better, his progress ruins.
Neytiri's expression softened, her eyebrows slightly furrowed as she held his hand. Veronica placed her hand on his thigh, squeezing it gently. No word was said to one another except giving each other comfort. Each parents feared the same thing: losing their child. Parenthood was difficult, but if the three of them were in it together, Jake felt like he will be fine.

I Love You, I Trust You, I See You
When people thought of the Sully family many thought of your siblings. They thought of Lo’ak who was always a troublemaker, causing chaos everywhere he went. They thought of Kiri who seemed so in tune with her surroundings that she might as well be Eywa herself. They thought of Tuk who was the youngest, still enamored by everyday life. They thought of Neteyam, a strong leader who would someday take on the role of Olo’eyktan after your father.
They never thought of you.
You who always seemed to be in your own little world. You who never had any friends. You who never talked. You who always seemed so attentive to the world around you, yet had no desire to join it.
When you were born after your twin Neteyam, a spike of fear had run through everyone in the room when you began to cry, but no sound came out. They feared you may not be breathing right, you may need your airways cleared. They feared something was wrong, and that was true.
When your parents or siblings thought about your family, they thought about you. They thought about how funny you were, always cracking jokes when there was a chance. They thought about how kind you were, taking a moment to check on everyone daily. They thought about how different you were than most.
They thought about you. You who couldn’t hear.
You always seemed to be in your own world, and that drew many away from you, they didn’t want to be friends with someone who they didn’t think was paying attention to them, and to be fair you weren’t paying attention to people most of the time. You preferred to direct your attention to the world around you, always keeping an eye out as you couldn’t hear danger coming.
When you had been caught by Quaritch and his men you had panicked, more than everyone else at least. You didn’t know what was going on, you didn’t know what they were saying, your lip reading was not dependable, and definitely not in english.
When your siblings arms were bound you couldn’t keep yourself calm, now you had no way of communicating, they couldn’t translate for you. Tears streamed down your face, eyes closed as tight as possible to try to calm yourself by blocking out the outside world.
When you felt your captor’s grip on your release your eyes shot open, looking around at the damage around you, multiple avatars dead on the ground. Then you ran, you ran faster than ever before in the first direction you saw.
You ran and ran, eyes trained on everything around you, and when you ran into someone and they grabbed you again it was like a shock. You let out a scream, the first noise anyone had ever heard you make. A noise nobody was aware you could make.
You turned to dead weight in an attempt to get out of their grasp, panic coursing through you again as your eyes couldn’t come into focus. However, the person dropped to the ground with you, pulling your face towards them and holding it still as you tried to thrash. Then they blew air into your face, and you realized you were safe.
When you were younger you would throw temper tantrums, as children do, where you would close your eyes to refuse to listen to your parents. Not being able to see them meant no sign language, which meant no having to listen to them. However your father found one thing always worked, blowing air on your face. Your eyes would shoot open, highly offended with your mouth dropped open, before you would sign at him, “Your breath is gross.” in retaliation.
You had never been more relieved for your dad’s stupid way of getting you to listen. Your eyes finally came into focus and you calmed down seeing his face, but that calm quickly turned into crying, sobbing. You couldn’t help but let out all of the pent up emotion inside of you, but eventually you calmed down and were able to stand back up, staggering your way home with the rest of your family.
Some time later when your parents had been arguing in your family kelku you hadn’t been paying attention as your siblings were, all huddled against the wall. You had been lost in your own world once again, not wanting to know what was being said as you were still processing what had happened earlier. You didn’t need anything on top of that as you feared it would make your careful stack of emotions you had constructed come tumbling down.
They had come tumbling down though as your parents announced you were moving, leaving. Leaving everything you had ever known, your home, your grandmother, the forest you loved so much. You couldn’t help it as you cried again, being held by your mother this time.
However as you thought about it you weren’t that sad. You had always liked the water, everyone not having to hear underwater made you feel more included, more like you belonged, and you had heard the Metkayina used sign language. Maybe this would be a chance to make friends for the first time in your life. Maybe you would be able to talk to people for once, nobody at home taking the time to learn American Sign Language, as your father had called it, like your family had.
One thing you hadn't taken into account was that they used a different version of sign language, but that had become very apparent when you first jumped into the water with Tsireya, Ao’nung, and Rotxo. They used signs you had never seen before, ones you didn’t recognize. You couldn’t help but feel a little beaten down at dinner, staying quieter than usual, not signing as much.
Afterwards your dad had asked you to step outside, waving a hand towards you as he exited the marui.
He sat down on the pathway, and you knew he expected you to join him, so you did. You sat next to him with your feet dangling in the water, looking out towards the horizon, refusing to look at him so you didn't have to have a conversation.
That didn’t last long though as he poked you in the arm, causing you to look at him offended, mouth open and eyebrows raised. He took this as his chance to speak, “You okay, kid?” He signed.
You sighed deeply, fidgeting with your hands before signing, “I’m okay, dad.”
You could tell he didn’t believe you, lips pressed together in a thin line and eyebrows furrowed, “You’re less talkative. What’s wrong?” He signed, proving he didn’t think you were telling the truth.
A frown came to your face, feeling like it was permanently there after the past few days or so, but you continued, “I’m disappointed.”
He raised his eyebrows, surprise and confusion on his face, “About what?”
You looked away from his face, instead choosing to watch his hands, you didn’t want to see the pity on his face, “We don’t speak the same language. I can’t communicate. Everyone else can at least talk to each other.”
His face softened, but you didn’t see it, “It’ll be okay. You’re a fast learner, so you will learn their language quickly, then you can make friends. If anyone actually wants to be your friend.” He meant it playfully, and you saw him laugh, so jammed your elbow in his ribs.
Then the conversation was over, your mom poking her head out of the doorway and saying something to your dad. He just stood up and gave you a look like he was asking, “You good?” and you nodded, “Yes.” back in return.
After your father’s words of encouragement you decided to work harder, learn faster, determined to be able to communicate with the people around you, and a few weeks later you were excelling whereas your siblings were still struggling. They were caught up on the differences of Metkayina sign language versus ASL but you had grasped that there weren’t differences, or similarities, and you would just be learning from scratch.
Even though you were doing well at it, working your way towards being fluent, you were worried about talking to the people, mostly because of one person in particular, Ao’nung. It was as if Ao'nung was determined to ruin your siblings' lives, and yours, but you didn’t know that.
You had seen Ao’nung’s attempts to cause hell for your siblings, nagging at them, laughing at them, and even trying to start fights, with Lo’ak in particular. Him messing with your siblings made you frustrated, but you weren’t aware of the taunts meant to make you upset, and laughing that was meant to make you feel like a target coming towards you from a distance.
The bullying towards your siblings had become more and more frustrating and you had begun showing your anger at home, being rougher with things than usual, and not wanting to go outside of the shared family marui.
It had been peaceful while you and your mom had been working on dinner, but she noticed you seemed to be far off, handling the food with rougher hands, “Are you okay, (Y/n).” Neytiri signed as you placed another fish over the fire.
You rolled your eyes at her, upset she was even insinuating something was wrong. In reality there was, but you didn’t want to admit that, “Yes mama, I’m fine.”
“Are you sure?” She had asked back, concern on her face as she looked at you closely.
You signed, “Yes.” Trying to end the conversation, but you knew she would just keep pushing.
You saw your mom think for a moment, her face scrunching up in concentration, “Well I am not.”
You frowned more, once again feeling like it had always been there since you left the forest, “Not what?”
She was frowning too now, “I’m not sure you’re fine. I see you isolating yourself. Even from me and your father.” She grabbed your hands, squeezing them gently to show her love in a little way.
Tears welled in your eyes, frustrated tears, tears that came because with all the stress recently they were the only way your brain knew how to process, to cope.
You pulled your hands from hers to wipe at them, “I’m sorry.” was all you could say.
She wiped the tears falling down your face before saying, “Why?”
You sniffled, running your hands down your face before signing, “I see Lo’ak, Kiri, and Neteyam being picked on, and there is nothing I can do. I can’t stand up to the bullies. I can’t say anything.”
“Okay, well soon you will be able to say something. You are learning their sign language, yes? I’ve heard from your siblings you are out working them.” She smiled at you and you could really see how proud of you she was.
You couldn’t help but crack a little smile although tears still threatened to fall, “Yes, mama. I’m getting better, but I’m worried it will be too late though.”
“I’m sure you will do your best, my ‘ite.” She thought for a second, “Why don’t you go try to talk to these kids tomorrow?”
You sighed, you didn’t want to, but you knew your mom would nag you until you agreed, “Okay. Love you.”
She smiled lovingly at you, “Love you too.” before pulling you into a hug.
When tomorrow came you didn’t even want to leave your marui, but you found the strength to do so. You did some of the breathing exercises Tsireya had taught you to try to calm your nerves, and they worked for the most part, steadying you and clearing your head.
However as soon as you stepped outside your marui you regretted it, not wanting to do what you had promised to your mother, but you knew you had to eventually. Eventually, which meant you could fool around as long as you wanted beforehand, and so you decided to settle down for a quick nap on the beach.
When you laid down and closed your eyes you quickly and easily fell asleep. You were still tired from last night when you struggled to sleep from your anxious thoughts.
When the Sullys moved to Awa’atlu Ao’nung thought they were weird, knew they were weird. He took a particular hatred towards the older Sully kids, Neteyam was the perfect little follower, Lo’ak was constantly in trouble, Kiri was always off in her own world, and you. Just you. You seemed to always ignore him and never talk, but what he didn’t know was that it's because you couldn’t hear him.
Ao’nung tried to not let anything get to him, especially when it came to people he didn’t like, like the Sullys, but for some reason you, (Y/n) Sully, had peeved him more than anyone or anything else. He had grown tired of you ignoring him when he shouted or laughed at you, like you didn’t even notice he was there, tired of you flat out avoiding him sometimes as you scurried away when he tried to approach you.
Of course he knew why, he had the same intentions to bully you and make you feel unwanted in Awa’atlu as your siblings. Of course you didn’t want this so you spent most of your time avoiding him, but for some reason instead of him not caring about it, it made him want to get under your skin even more.
When the sun rose today he decided today was the day to act. Today he would confront you head on, face to face. He would make you notice him, and he would make you feel awful in the process. So he gathered his friends, his goons, and they set off to find you.
They first checked with Tsireya who was with the rest of your siblings, but you were nowhere to be found, they all insisted they hadn’t seen you. Then they combed the beach, going from one end to the other, and on the far end they found you peacefully asleep on the soft sand.
He couldn’t help but notice how cute you looked asleep and peaceful, but he quickly shook it off, shouting at you, “Wake up, freak!”
He was targeting your extra finger and the hair above your eyebrows, like he had your siblings because he knew that got to them, and hoped it would do the same to you.
When you didn’t stir he tried shouting again, assuming you were awake, but trying to act asleep to avoid him, “What is wrong with you? Do you not care or are you stupid avoiding me?”
His friends laughed at you when you still didn’t move, eyes not cracking open and your breathing staying the same, so he took the next step, trying something physical. He kicked sand up and over you and finally you stirred, sitting straight up and looking around for the source of the sand, and when you saw him your heart dropped, a lump forming in your throat.
“There we go, now you are paying attention.” He snickered.
You tried to read his lips, but he spoke too fast, and you just stayed silent. You cocked your head to the side, eyebrows drawn together in a look of confusion.
You hesitated for a second, but were about to sign something when he spoke again. “Do you not speak? A silent freak, interesting.” You still didn’t understand exactly what he was saying, but his friends all laughed at you, and although you couldn’t hear it it made you feel small.
“I’m sorry. I can not hear you.” You signed, using Metkayina sign language this time.
He scoffed, “I do not believe that. I think you just don’t want us to bother you, but here we are.” He laughed in your face.
“Please use your hands.” You tried to communicate, but they just wouldn’t listen to you.
“No.” He sneered, this you understood, one single word.
Your mouth dropped open, offense written all over it. You knew he was disrespectful, didn’t care about others feelings, but you would make him care, “I can not hear. I am deaf.”
He was about to retort against you again, but when he had been searching for you earlier that day Neteyam knew he meant trouble, so when he found you he stayed in the shadows, watching, but now Ao’nung had taken it too far.
He surged forwards, anger consuming him, “Step off bro. She can’t hear you.”
“Yeah that is what she just said.” He rolled his eyes, “I do not care though, it is better if she can not hear me. Means I can make fun of her without her knowing.” He signed the last part so you could understand.
You shrunk back, standing to hide behind Neteyam. You tugged on his arm, “It’s okay.” You signed.
“It’s not okay, (Y/n).” He rubbed a hand down his face, turning to Ao’nung, “You need to leave her alone.”
“Whatever.” Ao’nung scoffed before turning and walking away.
Now he knew why you seemed to ignore him, you just didn’t know he was talking to you. You were probably avoiding him because you didn’t know their sign language yet. He felt bad for some reason. He usually wouldn’t feel bad about his bullying but with you it felt different now knowing this.
He couldn’t show his feelings though, worried about his little group making fun of him, but he slowly started to back off of you, and your siblings some as well. Whenever one of his “friends” would ask why, he would reply something like “We can not make fun of a cripple.” and roll his eyes, still a jab at you, but less so.
At some point you became all that consumed his thoughts, on his mind at all times, and whenever he would see you with his sister, or your siblings, he would feel the need to insert himself into the conversation, but he always refrained. He wanted to talk to you, to apologize, but he feared judgment from his “friends” who are just as nasty as he was.
Eventually he couldn’t hold it in anymore, heading to your marui to ask to talk with you, in the way you would understand. When he knocked on the doorway of the family home Lo’ak was the first to notice him, glaring at him and nudging Neteyam in the side, directing his attention towards Ao’nung.
Neteyam stood before either of his parents even noticed the boy in the doorway, stalking over to him and dragging him down the pathway so they could talk, “What do you want?” He hissed out.
Ao’nung cleared his throat, but the words still came out small, nervous, “I came to apologize to (Y/n)...”
“No.” Was all Neteyam said before turning away and starting to walk back into the Sully family’s home.
Ao’nung grabbed his arm before he got too far away, “Please. Please let me talk to her.” He begged, something he didn’t like to do, but it was necessary.
Neteyam sighed, “Fine, but if you do anything I will chop your head off myself.” He threatened the boy, “I’ll go get her.”
It wasn’t long before you stepped out of the marui, a frown on your face and hands he could see shaking, “What do you want?” You signed, hands shaking with nerves.
“I came to say sorry.” He started off, “I’m sorry for bullying you, and your siblings. I promise I won’t do it any more.”
“And?” You asked, knowing there was more.
He looked nervous now, hands shaking as he signed, “I wanted to extend the offer of friendship.”
You looked shocked now, “You want to be friends with me?”
He nodded his head, smiling shyly, “Yes. Absolutely.”
You smiled this time, relieved he would be leaving your siblings alone, and excited to learn more about him, about what he was really like under the bad boy shell, “Okay, friend.”
He just nodded at you, “I have to go now. See you at lessons with Tsireya tomorrow?”
“Of course.” You responded.
When you entered the marui again everyone's eyes were on you, a light blush on your face, “I made a friend.” You smiled.
You could see your parents cheering and clapping for you, but your siblings' faces were unsure, you would have to reassure them later but for now you were all having a family night, playing games and handing out things you had made for each other with the new resources you were getting used to using. They were clunky and awkward, but you would get better, it reminded you of something, of someone.
As days passed into weeks you and Ao’nung had grown closer, him pretty much taking over your lessons, stealing you away from Tsireya who was sad to see you go, but happy for her brother for making a friend, a real friend, not one of his goons that tended to hover around him at all times. You had seemingly broken down his bad boy aesthetic and his goons had since left him, moving onto another leader to follow, still as nasty as ever.
You were grateful for him letting his walls down around you, allowing you to see him, and soon you did. You saw him as more than you ever had before. You couldn’t help but think about courting him, of trading little handmade gifts, and sharing little intimate moments of happiness throughout the day.
It seemed as if he wanted the same as he began bringing you gifts, starting as a little armband he made from you out of hard to find shells he had spent many hours trying to find, then it moved onto necklaces and bracelets. Each was more intricate than the last.
When this started you began to bring him things too, poorly made things because using dried seaweed and palm leaves were different from the materials of the jungle, but you managed. Even though they weren’t the best quality he proudly wore them, gladly accepting every gift you would give.
Everyone had noticed by now, the traded jewelry, the touches that lingered a little too long, and the longing looks when you weren’t together. What baffled people most however was not Ao’nung’s seemingly peaceful side coming out, but the fact that neither of you had officially come out and asked if you were courting.
You were courting, you both knew that, but Ao’nung wanted to put it into words, he wanted to make it official, but he felt the need to fix a couple things first, to get a couple blessings.
So he went to the person he thought would be easiest first, your mom. She had seen you two from afar and already had talked to you about it, encouraging you to pursue him and get what you wanted. She had said she was not Tsahík, but Eywa had shown her signs. So when Ao’nung asked she immediately gave him her blessing, knowing this was something not just he wanted, but something you wanted too.
Then he went to your dad. He was a fierce warrior who commanded respect, and Ao’nung tried his best to be respectful, carefully wording his proposal of courting his daughter. Of course Jake had been hesitant at first, but eventually he caved after Ao’nung had mentioned he already had Neytiri’s blessing.
Finally he went to Neteyam, your twin brother, your best friend since birth. Neteyam was adamantly against it, wanting nothing to do with Ao’nung, and wanting his sister to have nothing to do with him either. He was still on the edge of forgiving Ao’nung, swaying over a cliff where falling meant forgiving Ao’nung for his wrong doings, and when Ao’nung explained his love for you, his intentions to never hurt you and treat you with the respect you deserve Neteyam fell over the cliff, giving the Metkayina boy his blessing.
Once he had gotten their blessings he had invited you to the beach where he had first intentionally seeked you out. You were hesitant to go back there with him, but you gave in, trusting him wholeheartedly.
You love him. You trust him. You see him.
When you got there he pulled you to sit down with him, you both facing each other, and he signed, letting his heart out, letting his feelings show, “I am sorry for any times I have hurt you. I was an ass and a fool, and I wish I had never caused you upset or harm. I am sorry for bullying your siblings too, they did not deserve it, but I was scared by the new people and what they would bring. I now see I should have helped like my sister. I should have been making you feel at home here, not doing the opposite.”
“It’s okay. We’re past that.” You reassured him.
He nodded, continuing, “Now I see how special you are. I see how much you’ve changed me and my views on life. I am grateful for the person you have shaped me into. I am grateful I got the chance to make it up to you. I want to court you. Officially.”
You felt your heart swell, butterflies in your stomach, and you were sure it was showing on your face, “I would love that.”
You moved your hands carefully to cup his face, holding it there as you looked into his eyes, hoping he understood how grateful you were for him too, then you pulled him in, lips brushing against each other before they fully made contact. It was magical, unlike anything you had felt before, and you were happy it was him making you feel this way. So happy, so loved.
When you pulled apart he smiled widely at you, grabbing your hands and giving them a gentle but tight squeeze before using them to say, “I see you. I see you.”
You sign your thoughts from earlier, “I love you, I trust you, I see you.”
He doesn’t say anything else, just smiles, and pulls you back in for another kiss, and you feel at peace. You know he is yours, and you are his. You know he will never leave you, and you will never leave him. You know he loves you, and you love him. You know he sees you, and you see him.

can I request avatar with a reader who is hard of seeing and needs a seeing the animal and they all freak out because reader somehow managed to find with a rather large group of viperwolves?
I hope this is what you were looking for, I made it platonic to make it more cute but I'll do a romantic one if this isn't what you were looking for.
The Blurriness
Sully family x blind Reader
Summary: the baby of the family is always protected
Warning: kinda yandere?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yn/3rd person pov
You were the baby the little princess everyone adored even though you weren't the youngest, neytiri knew something was different when she was pregnant with you, she felt it.
They didn't figure it out straight away, neytiri was scared at first not knowing what is wrong with her child so she did everything in her power to figure it out, even your siblings knew something was wrong so they did everything to protect you but still include you in everything they did.
Norman was the first one to ask them because he watched as you would have your hands on everything and feeling along as you moved, when someone called you you would twist and turn looking for them intill they came closer to you.
Jake and neytiri refused at first but as they watched you more they saw it to and then their feelings of protectiveness increased they would tell your siblings not to take you to the cliffs or on trees because they were scared you'd get hurt, they'd also forbid you going off by yourself because they don't think you'd find your way back.
I listened to my mom hum as she prepared food I could feel her gaze on me every so often from my perch on a few of the boxes that layed around our home "is something the matter" she asked I could see her blurry form move around the small fire the shadow of it darkening my vision.
"Nothing everything is fine" I murmured closing my eyes and leaned my head back against the woven wall "are you excited for your outing with neteyam today" she said and I could hear her footsteps getting closer "yeah I am" I smiled it's been a few weeks since I've been down in the forest.
"Where's my baby sister" I cringed as I heard neteyam call me my nickname "logically tuk is the baby" I mumbled as mom grabbed my hand helping me to my feet "you'll always be a baby to me" he teased and took my hand from mom and slowly lead me out the tent.
He helped me onto his ikran and flew the both of us down to the ground "so how's trainings" I inquired as I slid off his ikran with him right behind me "it's.... challenging" he sighed taking my hand and leading me off into the forest the blurry colors of purple, blue and orange filling my gaze it made me smile.
"Oh I'm sorry" I whispered lightly squeezing his hand in a comforting manner "I'm here for you if you need me" I added making him chuckle "I know you are it's what siblings are for" I could hear the smile as he talked, we fell into a calm silence the ambiance of the forest taking over.
He took us to our normal spot which was by the glowing waterfalls, he sat me on the ground just far enough for my feet to reach the water "I just need to get some stuff for mom stay here and don't move" his voice became a bit stern as he spoke he always said this when we were out.
"Where am I supposed to go" I teased gesturing my hands around me "I can't see anything" he laughed at my words "you know what I mean" he called out as he walked away, I started to hum to myself enjoying the forest air as I waited, neteyam usually took about 3 to 6 minutes but if longer he would come check on me every now and then.
"Neteyam" I called out after hearing a few twigs creak but I knew I was wrong when I heard the chitering of the viper wolf's, I looked around furiously seeing a view black sploges move across my vision my breathing hitching as I felt the wind of one of them moving behind me.
My stomach dropped as I waited for an attack or anything but nothing came I could still hear them moving around me but they weren't attacking my eyebrows frowned in confusion what's wrong with them, I jerked as I felt their cold skin brush against mine as they walked past, my body sat frozen and the only noise I made was my soft breathes I need to stay calm.
They circled around a few times "yeah" neteyam yelled charging from the woods, I could hear the viper wolf's scatter as he ran toward me their chitering fading as they ran into the woods "what the hell was that" he asked breathlessly and I just shrugged, he quickly pulled me to my feet and back to his ikran "I'm gonna get killed" he muttered climbing on.
"What happened" my dad asked as neteyam told him and mom the story I could feel their protectiveness radiating off of them "oh my poor baby" mom cooed as she came to sit at my side pulling my body into her and kissing my forehead.
"I'm not letting you outside again"

DAYS PAST
Tonowari x Metkayina!Reader
Summary: Tonowari doesn’t like the idea of her daughter going off with a boy, but his mate is there to remind him of their youth Warnings: N/A Word count: 1.5k
Taglist: @eywas-heir @drinking-tea-and-be-obsessed @netherklutz

“My son, Ao’nung and daughter, Tsireya, will teach you our ways”
“Father-“
“It is decided” Tonowari, Olo’eyktan of the Metkayina welcomed Jake and his family into Awa’atlu. They sought uturu, a sanctuary away from the war back in the forests. He granted them permission to stay, but the Tsahìk Ronal was not happy with his decision, she does not trust these outsiders, especially with how they are part human themselves.
“Come, I will show you our village” Tsireya helped with their bags and led them to an empty marui on the far side of the village. He was glad at least one of his children was hospitable, he would need words with his son later. He knows that Ao’nung takes after his aunts views on them, it is evident in the scowls and remarks he threw at them.
“Who were they? ‘Wari?” a small Metkayinan woman stood next to the man, snapping him out of his trance and placing a gentle hand on his back, urging him to look at her. When he turned his head down he was face to face with his mate, ___. He did not see her with the crowd when the Omaticayans arrived, ‘she must have been deep in the ocean again’, he mused.
“That is Toruk Makto and his family. They seek uturu” he cupped his wife’s face and have her a kiss on the forehead, hand going down to her pregnant stomach, rubbing soothing circles. She was a few months along and the bump was very prominent.
“Sanctuary? why?” the look that Tonowari gave her said everything, the skypeople were back on Pandora, she knew that and she knew the forest clans were heavily affected, she just did not expect them to come here, expecting them to fight back just as she heard 15 years ago. “I will go and greet them”
“Be careful, sister” Ronal walks up to them after calming down a few worried Na’vi, glare on her face “I do not trust them, the children inherited demon blood, hair on their face and extra fingers”. ___ simply nodded, not wanting to argue with her older sister, her Tsahìk, and simply watched her as she left to her marui.
Tumblr media
“I am ___, Tonowari’s mate” ___ introduced, her hands on her daughters shoulders and they smiled at the family, placing down a basket of freshly caught fish. The blue Na’vi did not look happy to be here, but they smiled back nonetheless. The little one, Tuktirey said her greetings out loud. It made ___ chuckle. “I am sorry if my sister, our Tsahìk, was too harsh on you all. She means well”
Neytiri huffed but nodded, she did not like Ronal after what she said about her children, therefore she did not know how to feel about the sister. Only time will tell. But for now it is best to keep up good impressions.
“Yes, thank you. I am sure she does” Jake nodded his head, hair bouncing on his shoulders. His arm was around his youngest, bringing her to his chest. She was tired from the long journey and yawned.
“We will leave you to settle in. There is no communal dinner tonight, but I have brought some fish your way. Come, Tsireya” They bid their goodbyes and walked back to their marui, speaking of the Omaticayans and what they would do to help them settle in more comfortingly.
“I will go diving with them tomorrow, show them our reefs” Tsireya bounced on the walkway, excited at the prospect of new friends, and hopefully a new lover. Her tail swayed at the thought of him, the boy. He was sweet even if they’ve only met today for a few mere moments.
“That is a good idea, and ‘Reya, I have noticed you staring at that boy, do you like him?” like mother like daughter, ___ read her mind. She saw the look on her child’s face when they were back with the forest Na’vi, watching at Toruk Makto’s youngest son, the one they call Lo’ak.
There was no point in lying to her Sa’nok, so Tsireya decided to say the truth. “He said ‘hey’ to me mama! You should have seen him!” ___ giggled, one word and she was already captured by him, like fish in a net.
“Who said ‘hey’ to you?” Tonowari was sat by the side of the pod, his legs dangling over the water as he sharpened his spear, preparing for an afternoon hunt. His ears perked up at the sounds of his girls walking into their home, watching the little flush his daughter had grow on her face.
Tsireya’s eyes widened “no one ma sempul” and she scurried out of the house, going to see what her brother was up to, hopefully nothing terrible.
___’s mate looked towards his wife, eyes questioning, hands stopping their ministrations. “Our daughter may have fallen for someone” the woman went to sit beside him, holding the underside of her full tummy, rubbing the skin and feeling larger hands atop hers.
Tonowari hummed, not liking the idea of his only daughter going off with some boy, he had a suspicion it was with Jake’s, seeing the way the boy looked at his kid. It was the same look he gave ___ when they were properly introduced for the first time. “I do not know how to feel about that. Tsireya is just a baby”
“She is thirteen my love, soon she will entertain the prospect of boys and relationships, and in the future a mate”
The Olo’eyktan’s shoulders and ears visibly drooped, a large sigh escaping his chest, his wife was right. “Where did the time go, flower? She was just a small bundle merely yesterday. Now she is a beautiful, strong, independent women”
“Our child has grown up, just like Ao’nung…do you remember when we were in the same situation?” ___ grinned, blue eyes shining at the memories of a teenage Tonowari trying to court her with pretty woven necklaces and bags of pearls he spent hours collecting in the reef. Trinkets she held very dear then, and still holds now, one of which is wrapped around her neck.
Tonowari leaned into his mate and pecked the bridge of her nose, smiling at her, hand coming up to hold the back of her neck, feeling the shells of her necklace digging into his fingers. “I will never forget the first time I saw you, really saw you. You looked so beautiful at the party, the Tulkun returned and you were in the waters singing with your spirit sister, I could not take my eyes off of you for hours”
“So she told me” ___ giggled, briefly remembering when her tulkun spoke of the boy watching her from the shores. “She said you were a creep”
“Did she now?” Tonowari’s forehead raised, eyes widening.
“And I agreed” he bellowed out a laugh, eyes crinkling at the sides. “You never left me alone after that, always accompanying me around the waters. Ronal said you asked of me all the time”
“Ronal is the equivalent of a sea snake”
___ gasped and slapped his shoulder, grin spreading across her pretty face “I am telling her you said that!”
“Kehe! Please do not! She would kill me” the man visibly shuddered. There is nothing more frightening than her older sister, who is so overly protective of ___. It took her forever to accept their relationship, afraid that he would take advantage and hurt her younger sister in some way.
___ smooched his mouth, cupping his face “do not worry ‘Wari, I will protect you”
“My strong warrior” he mused, about to give her another kiss when their children entered the marui, Ao’nung visibly shuddered at the sight of his parents being so lovey with each other, sticking his tongue out at them, Tsireya noticed and slapped his shoulder.
Tonowari straightened up, still needing to give him the talk, asking him to sit next to them. Ao’nung noticed his fathers serious demeanour and slowly crept next to his mother for protection. “Son, you will treat the Sully’s with respect, I have asked you to help them become Metkayina so I expect no quarrels. As future Olo’eyktan I need you to take this seriously”. The boy furiously nodded, not wanting to disappoint his father any further, “And I want you to watch over the youngest boy, I do not like how he has been eyeing your sister”
“Sempul!” Tsireya screeched from the other side of the hut, round cheeks turning a deep shade of purple, hiding behind the woven basket of fish she brought out.
___ held her swollen belly and laughed loudly, slowly getting up from her position over the edge of their home and walking towards her daughter, taking the fish and getting ready to cook dinner. “‘Wari, what did we just talk about earlier?”
“I know, flower. But I still do not like his staring!”
Ao’nung just shook his head and sighed, this was going to be a long night.

Read Below the Cut:
Being a hunter provided you with so much purpose. You provided food, safety, pelts, strength and everything in-between to your clan. And in turn they provided you with love and support. You had felt this way since you were eighteen and finished the rites of the hunter, since you technically became an Omaticayan woman.
Being a spoter in the war party provided you so much more. You felt adrenaline, you felt responsible for all your brothers and sisters in the fight. You felt like you were personally making a difference against the enemy.
And besides, by taking this life path you were able to meet your best friend.
“Neteyam!” You squealed as he picked you up, throwing you over his shoulder, spinning you both around. Despite your squealing and protests he did not put you down, until he threw you onto the plush moss bed of your secret hideout.
A glen a few clicks away from high camp, nestled between caves and vines in an adjacent, floating mountain. It had been a secret refuge for the two of you growing up. A place where you could come and get away from it all, simply be best friends alone.
You laid there, looking up at the glow worms that littered the roof of the cave. Neteyam by your side, this is how it always was and probably would always will be. You don’t know what would come between you and Neteyam. Potentially his mate, you thought. Though you found posessiveness to be lame, especially between friends. That’s all you were, and if a female respected Neteyam she would show the same respect to you too, no?
“What’s cooking in that pretty little head of yours?” Neteyam asked, bumping your arm with his own.
“Nothing really, just life.” You sighed, placing your hands behind your head and crossing your ankles over eachother. “Do you think I should start trying to court someone or just let it happen naturally?” You asked.
Neteyam rolled his eyes. You were so fucking dense sometimes it hurt. He loved you, always has, always will. He often felt like you were the only person who saw him, really saw him. And yet at the same time, you didn’t. How oblivious you were to Neteyam’s crush was astronomical. He constantly called you beautiful, highlighted your intelligence and talents. The boy couldn’t go longer than ten minutes without skin to skin contact for Eywa’s sake. Out of his twenty-one-years of life, he’s sworn that he has loved you for nineteen.
And you were none the wiser.
“Well, who would you court?” Neteyam asked, trying to remain calm and steady, but everytime the two of you toe this topic he wanted to rip his own brain-stem out and have Lo’ak stomp on it.
“Yeah, good point.” You sighed, frustrated. You didn’t think you were ugly or untalented. You had no idea why the males in your clan showed no real interest in you. You turned your head, your best friend looked grumpy. Neteyam had his plush lips downturned, face willed into a scowl. You pushed him in the arm, he smiled gently. “Maybe I should just court you, huh.” Neteyam laughed in response, shaking his head.
“Maybe you should.”
You didn’t bring it up after that, sensing that Neteyam was obviously uncomfortable thinking on his future. You couldn’t blame him being the eldest son of Toruk Macto is a life of insurmountable pressure.
Instead, you enjoyed Neteyam’s presence. He always calmed you, provided you with such comfort and solitude. Your best friend, your partner in crime (although Neteyam was often the one pulling you out of the crimes). The two of you had always, always been attached at the hip and you did not want to sever that relationship. Not for any girl.
“C’mere,” Neteyam said, opening his strong arms, gesturing for you to take your usual position- your head on his warm chest, his arms holding you close, tails intertwined, legs following suit. You felt like home in between his muscle and sinew. “Spend time with me, my lovely girl.”
The two of you laid there for hours, but as the night grew darker you knew time was running out, you had to get home, you had to sleep, so that you could wake up and do it all again tomorrow.
You went home, he went to his. And you could not help but to think about who Neteyam would court, who Neteyam would mate with, who Neteyam’s Tsahik would be. As you settled in for bed, willing for sleep you could not help but to feel uncomfortable, too.
Today was a training day, you and Neteyam were helping younger hunters master some archery. And you had no idea what was wrong with you. Your eyes would not stop finding Neteyam. His eyes, his smile, his strong back, broad shoulders.
You shook your head, as if to get the thoughts out, refocusing on the boy in front of you.
“Tighter, hold it tighter, do not be afraid.” You said, adjusting his grip on the bow. The teen, Ayue, sighs, dropping the stance entirely.
“I am scared, (y/n), I’m never going to do it right and I’m never going to pass trials.” He sounded so genuinely defeated and your heart hurted for him. You remember admitting the same thing to Neteyam years ago. And you remembered fondly how he had helped you.
“Well, let’s pick a new target.” You said, smiling, hoping to help the boy refocus.
“I did it Neteyam!” Lilä, the young female hunter that Neteyam had been helping successfully got three bullseyes in a row.
Neteyam smiled at her enthusiasm, but he knew he had to be careful with the girl. She had a crush on him, which he could understand. Not because he was handsome or anything like that, Neteyam did not like to think of himself like that. He just recognised that it’s so easy to like people that are nice to you, especially if they’re older and have some kind of status. Being Jake Sully’s son had its moments. But Neteyam also knew that Lilä was not as cautious of the boundaries that existed between them. He tried his best to remind her that he was her teacher, nothing more. But when she ran her hand up and down Neteyam’s arm he knew he had failed.
You and Ayue looked around the archery field, trying to find something new the boy could hit. Your own bow and arrow ready to shoot with him.
“There,” Ayue said softly, taking aim. “That little gap in Lilä’s target.”
You looked to where the boy had said, indeed noticing the little gap between arrows in her target. But that was not what you were aiming at, yourself.
Lilä had her hand running up and down Neteyam’s muscular arm, fiddling with his armband. She was sixteen. Why were you jealous of a child? It was not that, that sent you over, rather, it was Neteyam’s uncomfortable eyes, his tense posture. He did not want to be touched. Furthermore, you did not want to watch another touch him.
You let the arrow fly.
Lilä screamed, jumping back from Neteyam. He stood, glued to the spot. Staring at the arrow buried in the ground at his feet. Absolute inches away from where Lilä’s feet had been. The purple feathers with mottled yellow gave you away.
He looked up, found your striking eyes from across the field. You were tense, but silent like an assassin.
“Neteyam do something!” The teenage girl squawked at him, rapidly gesturing between herself, the arrow and the love of his life across the field. “She could have killed me!”
Neteyam laughed, shaking his head.
“Trust me, if she wanted to kill you, she wouldn’t have missed.” He smiled at you, sending a small wave. You returned the gesture, but Neteyam did not miss the glare you sent his pupil.
Something like hope grew in his heart. While something strange, that you could not name bloomed in your own.
“So,” Lo’ak started at dinner. You sat between him and his brother, his two sisters and parents across from you. “Why did you nearly kill Lil-”
You groaned, rolling your eyes and cutting him off. “Do not mention her name to me, I’ll be sick.”
“Woah, woah, woah, what’s this about nearly killing someone?” Jake questioned, smirking. He liked to treat you like one of his own girls, teasing included.
“Forget it, Sir, it was not like that.” You said piling more food onto your wooden disk.
Lo’ak scoffed at you, shaking his head.
“Lilä said that (y/n) almost shot her today during training.” Kiri pipped up. You glared at the girl, knowing that she was not your ally tonight. Jake laughed, and you noticed Neytiri graced a small smile at the sound. You let your mind briefly wander, did you make Neteyam smile like that?
“Almost? Doesn’t sound like you kid, you don’t miss.” Your Olo’eyktan pushed the conversation along, and you could not help but blush at being the centre of attention. You did not enjoy the spotlight, despite your actions today.
But before you could answer, Neteyam spoke:
“Lilä was being inappropriate towards me during training today, I did not know how to quickly shut down the situation. I was quite grateful (y/n) reacted when she did.” Neteyam shot you a quick smile, and you felt it again, that strange blooming in you chest. “Besides, it was an impressive shot, Love.” Neteyam said, holding your eyeline.
“Good girl.” Neytiri said, reaching out to pat you on the thigh afew times, before going back to attending little Tuk.
You smiled, relieved that you were not in trouble. Though you knew the chances of that were going to be low anyway.
You felt uncomfortable, as all the Sully’s shared a similar look with one another, with Neteyam. You felt left out on an inside joke. Or worse, like you were at the end of one.
You swallowed the feeling down, with your food and decided not to dwell on it. Rather, you listened to Tuk recount the Na’vi folk-story she heard during her lessons today.
You laid on your back, the moss of your spot squelching beneath your shoulder blades. Waiting for Neteyam was rare, as he was always prompt but Jake requested a word with his eldest after dinner, so you made yourself scarce.
What was this uncomfortable feeling that you could not shake? You though back on the last twenty-four hours.
And suddenly, it clicked.
“Pretty little head of yours”
“Maybe I should just court you, huh?”
“Maybe you should.”
“My lovely girl”
How Lilä had touched him. How you had felt when she had done so.
“It was an impressive shot, Love.”
“Oh fucking shit.” You said aloud, pulling your legs to your chest, smooshing your hands into your face.
You went back further in time in your catacombs of memory: Every smile, every touch, every flower, every gift, every soft word spoken, every big event, every mundane day everything.
It was all Neteyam.
“Oh fuck me!” You cursed out into the glen, hearing your own voice echo around the walls of the chamber-like cutaway.
“When and where my sweet girl?” Neteyam chuckled as he entered your spot.
You sprung to you feet. You were uncomfortable, you were overwhelmed. Uncomfortable, uncomfortable, uncomfortable.
“No!” You barked, pointing at him. Neteyam raised his arms in mock surrender. He was confused, but always let you call the shots. “No! You do not get to say that to me.” Your voice wavered, your eyes filling with tears. You didn’t know why, you didn’t know what you felt or what was going on. He had been teasing you. And that was the secret joke they had shared, he had been teasing you for years and the whole family was in on it.
Neteyam saw your eyes brimming with unshead tears and he felt rage, who had hurt you? He made a move towards you, gripping your shoulders, pinning you to the spot.
“My love, what is the matter?” He asked softly, after he confirmed that you had no external injuries.
“Do not call me that, Neteyam.” You couldn’t bear to look at him, you looked at the moss under your feet, wishing it would open up and swallow you.
Neteyam felt his heart sink. You had never, ever told him off for the pet names. He was certain you didn’t even register them most of the time. You were just too oblivious.
That obliviousness was obviously gone.
“(y/n)”, Neteyam spoke softly, but his voice was commanding, full of purpose. It was how he talked to his students. You refused to look at him. Grabbing your chin he coaxed you to look at him, look at him in his beautiful eyes and you felt your knees go weak. “Can you explain to me what is upsetting you?” What is upsetting you, my beautiful girl? Died in his throat.
“What is upsetting me is that you have teased me, my whole life, with your pet names, and you do not actually love me or want me, at all!” You could not help but sob as Neteyam held you still.
He felt like his stomach swallowed his heart, the acid burning it away. You were so wrong. So, so wrong. How could you even think that? Think that of him?
“You’re always so oblivious, aren’t you?” He asked. His hand remaining firm on your chin. “I have tried to make it obvious to you our entire lives, I have tried to make it obvious how much I love you, how much I want you.”
You felt shame and stupidity burn across your face like a brand.
“Honey, I thought you made your reciprocative feelings obvious today,” His hands moved from your shoulder and chin respectively, finding their usual home on your cheeks. “I thought you made it really, really obvious when you nearly killed my sixteen-year-old student out of jealousy.”
You giggled at him, shaking your head at how stupid the whole thing sounded aloud. He always knew what to fucking say. You wish you could hate him for it, but all you do is resent yourself. You had time to make it right.
“My beautiful Neteyam,” You bought your lips closer to his own, a hairsbreadth apart. “I am so sorry for not realising your love sooner, we have wasted so much time because I’m so fucking dense.”
You kissed him, and that uncomfortable feeling left. It was right, everything was right and normal and as it was supposed to be.
It was the best moment of Neteyam’s young life.
“We will have time in the rest of this life and the next.” He whispered against your lips.

I LOVED your sully family x reader fic!!!
Makes me wonder what would happen if Quaritch came and tried to take reader away 👀
If he was scared of Neytiri before, he’s going to have a heart attack now lol
~A/N: I had planned to write a part two to it since I liked it and people were asking for it, but I just had to include your idea once I checked my inbox! Once again, reader is pretty gender neutral, only descriptors are your size since in this you're tiny.
~Masterlist
Part 1 , Part 2
CW: yandere behavior (platonic), possessive behavior, obsessive behavior, mental breakdown, mild description of violence, minor character death
Tumblr media
~(A/N: Going to include the Kiri scene, for plot purposes. Also going to follow some of the actual plot for part of this.)
-You had been with your new family and staying with the Metkayina for a few weeks now. You had gotten used to it with the rest of your family.
-Though it was frustrating that you couldn’t do the same things as your siblings. It was frustrating not being allowed to do the things even Tuk was allowed to do! You were tired of it, and kind of regretted calling them your family if it could’ve prevented this. But you did love them.
-You were once again collecting shells in the shallow water and playing with the other kids and your siblings, when someone suggested going for a deeper swim. Everyone said yes, and your siblings even allowed you to go because they said it would be safe!
-You followed the group and dove with them to look at the glowing plants. You were looking around when you noticed that Kiri had stopped swimming. You looked over and saw her shaking in place.
-You knew this was a problem and immediately went to her and swam up to the surface as fast as you could with Kiri in your grasp. Eventually the others noticed as well and helped you drag Kiri to the surface. You swam with the group as they brought Kiri to the shore.
-You insisted on going with her to the healer’s hut. You were allowed to and stayed by her side the whole time. You watched as Norm and Max showed up and enthusiastically hugged them when they arrived at the hut.
-They were in shock that you’ve been here with the Sully’s the whole time. They’d been worried when you just disappeared when the family did, but they were glad you were safe. They focused and went to Kiri, but you still clung to them the whole time while looking at your new sister.
-Neytiri was with you guys, and while she was extremely worried for her oldest daughter, she was fuming watching you cling to the dream walkers. Neytiri insisted Ronal stay and use a navi way of taking care of Kiri.
-She went and snatched you from the humans while ordering them to leave so the Metkayina’s tsahik could do her thing. She was royally pissed when you whined and reached for them as they were heading out. She just faced Kiri so you could focus on the important thing again.
-Once you caught sight of your sister again, you wiggled to get down. Your mother set you down and you hurried back to Kiri’s side. You were sitting beside her, resting your hand on her arm as Ronal was doing her chants.
When she finished, it only took a moment for Kiri’s eyes to open and her to gasp for air. She looked around and immediately spotted her mother and youngest sister, plus the rest of her family outside of the hut.
She clutched her mom’s and your hand and burst into tears. You leaned down to hug her as she cried. You didn’t blame her, this had to be a traumatizing experience for her. You just held her as the rest of the family gathered around her
As everyone settled, you patted her head before being pulled into your oldest brother’s lap. You didn’t want to be in anyone’s lap and started wiggling to be let go. Neteyam sighed, but set you down beside him anyway.
Though, with everyone focused on your sister, you got the chance to sneak out of the tent and go to Norm and Max. You ran up to them and collided with their legs. Norm turned and quickly picked you up. He smiled as you tightly hugged his neck.
You sighed and said, “I missed you.” You just hugged tighter and buried your face in his neck more. It felt so good to see them again. Norm hugged you back as tight as he could without hurting you. He said he missed you too, which just made you cling on tighter. Max was touched at the sight and went over to hug the both of you. He knew you liked getting ‘group hugged’ like this.
The moment lasted for a few minutes before one of the Sullys noticed you were gone and left the hut to find you. Neteyam was pissed when he saw you clinging to the scientists. He marched over and tapped Max on the shoulder to get his attention. Once he had it, he motioned for them to give you back, which they did reluctantly.
You looked over Neteyam’s shoulder as they started leaving. You waved at them and yelled, “Bye-bye!” They smiled and waved back at you before heading back to the forest.
-Once Neteyam was back in the hut with his family, he went and sat down with you right next to Kiri, who clung onto your hand again. You just sighed and settled into your brother’s lap more.
-You were getting kind of tired of being held most of the day by them, even if you struggled to keep up on your own. You wanted some time to yourself after this. Kiri would be recovering, so maybe it was possible.
-Once she was taken back to your family’s marui, everyone had gathered around in a hammock to cuddle together. And for some reason you were in the middle of it.
-You loved cuddles, but you were a little bit overwhelmed, overstimulated, and slightly too warm. So, once everyone was settled more and was deep enough into their nap, you gently took yourself out of the pile.
-You went to the place with some paper and wrote them a note saying you were out swimming/exploring to clear your head and relax. You knew this would worry them, but it would be worth it in the end.
You went to the entrance of the marui and quietly walked out, going towards the shore. You wandered around for a bit before coming across Tsireya, who was swimming around in the shallower water. You stood there for a minute before calling out to her.
You started to walk a bit into the water as she turned to look at you, a bit surprised to see your family nowhere in sight. She brushed the thought off and swam to where you were to see what you were doing. She asked why you were out here alone and you said, “I love them but I want some time to myself. I was a bit overwhelmed so I left them a note and came out to walk around for a bit. I like being around other people though and figured you wouldn’t mind hanging out with me for a little while. I just don’t wanna be picked up or held right now.” You looked up at her through your lashes and fiddled with your fingers as you explained yourself.
Tsireya was a bit concerned for you from the words, but happily agreed to spend some time with you. You said you wanted to just float around for a bit in the deeper part, so she swam out with you and watched over you while you relaxed. You floated on your back while staring up at the sky. Tsireya dove down under the water, but continued to keep a good watch over you. You were just an innocent and cute kid.
In the time you were floating around, Aonung and Rotxo had joined Tsireya in swimming around and keeping watch over you. It was surprisingly refreshing to see you enjoying yourself without your family around. You seemed so content at the moment that they didn’t want to interfere with it.
It was about an hour from when you started floating that they heard a commotion from the Sullys’ marui. They looked over and saw most of the family rush out of the marui, all of them except Kiri and Tuk, who were standing at the entrance with a piece of paper in Kiri’s hand. They all looked at each other, then at you, then back at the family rushing along the beach towards them.
You still hadn’t noticed them, and it seems like they hadn’t noticed you yet. They slowly swam to cover you from their view as they got close enough to look at you. They wanted you to have a bit more peace before the Sullys dragged you off with them.
Jake frantically asked them if they had seen you, and they looked at each other again before looking back at him and shaking their heads while shrugging. He narrowed his eyes at them and walked a bit closer. Neteyam and Loak immediately walked into the water to swim towards them. They got very nervous, because they knew you were still peacefully floating behind them, relaxing.
Once the two made it to them, they looked at the three with narrowed eyes. The three were shoulder to shoulder, like a little wall. They looked like they were hiding something. And they were. As soon as they looked around them, they saw you. You were still floating on you back, but had drifted into a light doze.
Loak let out a relieved sigh before getting closer and gently grabbing your arm. You jolted up and looked around before looking over your brother. You saw the three metkayina kids looking concerned, Neteyam in front of them looking relieved, and your parents on the shore still looking a bit panicked. Though once they saw you were okay, they both deflated and smiled at you.
You just sighed, upset that your alone time was interrupted, but went with your brothers anyway. As soon as you got to your parents, Neytiri picked you up and clutched you to herself. Along with Jake rubbing your back.
The metkayina children just looked at you with concern filled eyes. They thought you looked so tired. They kind of felt bad for you, because they knew that you probably never got to be alone in that family.
As they saw the Sullys walk off with you, they made eye contact again and nodded. Tsireya and Aonung were gonna bring their concern up with their parents. They knew they could make up something for all of the family to do so you could be by yourself for a while during the days.
Meanwhile, you were smothered with attention when you guys got back to your marui. You just slumped to the floor of the hammock and they surrounded you. You basically shut down so you could have alone time in your mind.
-The rest of the family noticed you went limp and cautiously backed away from you enough to look you over. You were just blankly staring in front of you. This made them very concerned.
-Kiri got closer and waved her hand in front of your face, and you didn’t react at all. She didn’t like that, so she gently shook you to see if you would react to that. You did react to that by jolting and rapidly blinking your eyes before looking around you.
-The family was relieved that you were okay and all hugged you again.
-Which was a mistake.
-Because you immediately burst into tears and tried struggling away from them. Their attempts to sooth you with affection just made you cry harder and scream louder. They were baffled because this was the first tantrum of yours they had ever witnessed in the months of knowing you.
-You were totally inconsolable for a good ten to fifteen minutes, which stressed them out beyond belief. They wanted you to calm down, but nothing that they were doing was helping, just seemed to make you cry harder. They were honestly at a loss for what to do.
-Finally, they all backed away from you. Once you had some breathing room, you stopped struggling and just cried for another ten minutes before slowly calming down. It took another 5 minutes for your cries to stop completely.
-The Sullys just watched you the whole time, shocked that you just needed them to not touch to make you calm down. It almost made them think that you didn’t love them anymore, but they knew that a lot of children just need space during big meltdowns like that.
-After you were done freaking out you got very tired. Throwing a tantrum uses a lot of energy. As you were falling asleep you quietly said, “I’m sorry. I’ve been overstimulated with all of the touching lately. I left our marui to relax by myself.”
-And with that, you were dead asleep.
The family carefully gathered around you and carefully put you into the middle of their cuddle pile. They just let you rest on top of them, just for that night. They would allow you to have a little bit of space for part of the next day, but that was it.
When you woke up the next morning the family was gathered around you like usual. You, surprisingly, didn’t care all too much since letting your emotions out. You went closer to Neytiri and snuggled into her since everyone else was still asleep. You drifted off to sleep, a lot warmer than before, and content.
Neytiri had woken up when you moved on top of her, and she was delighted that you chose to be close with her again. She waited until you went back to sleep to move closer to Jake and snuggle you closer between them.
She gently shook him awake, and once his eyes opened she motioned to you. He had the most radiant smile while realizing that you chose to lay with them. He put his arms around the both of you and gently purred. The other kids all woke up at this and peeked over their parents’ sides to see you between them. They were also happy to see that, as that would mean that they could cling to you again soon. The whole family rested while looking at you until the sun was mostly up. Then, everyone except you and Neytiri left the hammock to begin making breakfast.
Once breakfast was almost ready, Neytiri got up, while still holding you, and went over to where the rest of the family was. You were starting to stir just as she fully sat down. You opened your eyes and yawned right after, making the whole family smile at you. You were always so adorable when you did that.
You were fully awake when the food was ready to be served, perched on your mother’s lap and ready to receive your portion. It didn’t take you that long to eat, so you sat back against her as the rest of your family finished eating.
After they were all done eating, you were set on the ground and told you could do whatever by yourself until someone got you for lunch. You smiled so hard your cheeks hurt and thanked them before hurrying out of the marui. The rest of your family sighed before the kids nodded at each other and started following you.
-They saw you run across the shore before getting to a quiet part of the beach and going into the water. You waded around for a while, then swam out a bit further. Once you got to where it was deeper, you just started floating on your back.
-And didn’t do anything else for a while. They were pretty sure you fell asleep.
-Until they saw someone come up from underwater towards you. Once they surfaced they saw it was just Tsireya. Who looked over at you before swimming closer and stopping right next to you. She waved her hand in front of your face, giggling when she didn’t get a reaction.
-She gently pushed water towards you, making you wake up from your doze and look over at her. You lazily smiled before draping yourself over her back and laying your head back down. She just looked over her shoulder at you before gently swimming around with you on her.
-They were just shocked that you only wanted some time to be quiet and calm. They guessed that even children got worn out with constant activity and noise. Maybe the clinging didn’t help as well, since you were alone through most of the morning.
-Though it was time for them to start gathering you for lunch, or at least a snack. They did have more swimming lessons after lunch.
-They started waving at Tsireya, and it didn’t take long for her to notice them. She saw them waving her towards them, so she began gently swimming to the shore with you. It only took her about two minutes to reach the group of siblings, considering she swam slowly to not wake you up.
-Once she got to them, Kiri took you from her back into her arms, to not wake you back up. Neteyam thanked her and told her they were gonna have a small lunch before their lessons. Tsireya took the moment to tell them that her parents wanted them to bring you to the lesson today as well. As well as that Ronal wanted to have a conversation with her afterwards.
-The siblings were confused, but had to agree to the request of the tsahik. They just nodded before walking off with you.
Tsireya went to her mother to let her know the Sully siblings agreed to let you go with Ronal after the lesson.
Ronal was relieved that she could get you away from them for some extra time today, though she would talk to you during that time to figure out if there are different ways to take care of your health. She wanted to be prepared, just in case.
She had a bad feeling for the future.
Meanwhile, you were being held in Kiri’s lap as you ate lunch with your family. When you were all done you were carried over to where the lessons usually are. You were reluctantly put down when Aonung, Tsireya, and Rotxo made their way over to you and your siblings.
They explained that Tsireya and Aonung would be helping the siblings with their ilus and some more advanced diving. And Rotxo would be helping you with your breathing and supervising you underwater. To which you just nodded before walking over to Rotxo.
The whole group swam out to the deeper section of the water before Rotxo guided you away from the main group to keep you from being swept up by the ilus swimming near you. Your siblings were almost glaring at him, but knew that he was just helping you and keeping you safe. They didn’t exactly trust him with you, so they would glance over every once in a while to check up on you.
Meanwhile, you were just happily diving down a bit to look at all of the plants and animals under the water, periodically going up for air. You were proud of yourself for being able to spend up to five minutes underwater. You were just gleefully exploring with Rotxo, pointing out all of the exciting things you saw to him, which made him smile at you everytime. He was honestly having a great time watching you explore.
You two were doing that for about an hour and a half until he got the signal from Tsireya to bring you to Ronal and join the main lesson. So, he guided you to the surface, then helped you to the shore. Once you were there he asked if you wanted him to carry you. You thought about it before nodding and reaching up towards him.
He chuckled and picked you, holding you close to his chest, before starting to walk to the tsahik’s tent. It only took about ten minutes to make it there, and he dropped you off after calling out to Ronal to tell her you were there.
Ronal turned to you and motioned you closer to her. You quickly waddled, in her point of view, to her side and waited for more context. She just gently smiled at you and set you somewhere higher then sat down herself.
-She told you she wanted you to tell her if there were any ways that your health maintenance was different to navi.
-You put on your thinking face before telling her all of the things you knew, happily telling her that Norm and Max taught you most of those things. This took you almost half an hour because of how excited you were to get everything out.
-Ronal was intently listening to you and nodding along to what you were telling her. She had gathered that humans were very similar to navi, except more delicate and sensitive to things. She knew this information would be valuable to her later, she had a feeling you would get hurt more than other navi in their village.
-She said she understood and that you were a smart girl for remembering all of that. You beamed at her and hugged the nearest part of her to you. Which happened to be her arm. She looked down at you as you hugged her arm and smiled up at her.
-She thought you were a cute kid. She patted your head before scooping you up and asking if you would help her with her (easier) duties until dinnertime.
-And you easily agreed, very happy to help someone. You continued holding onto her as she went deeper into her hut. She set you on a mat as she brought over multiple things for the medicinal pastes she uses.
-She briefly introduces them to you, by saying their names and pointing at them, and telling you to help by handing her the right things as she makes more of her current medicines.
She spends about two hours making more medicines with you talking at her the whole time. She nods along to the right parts, even if what you are talking about concerns her a little bit. You had been telling her all about your life, from coming to Pandora to meeting the Sullys. She’s surprised that you are such a happy child after going through all of that.
She didn’t say that to you, she just told you that you’ve definitely had an interesting life. You happily nodded at her before Neytiri came into the hut to get you for dinner. You trotted over to her before getting picked up and carried away. You waved at Ronal over her shoulder as you were leaving the hut.
Ronal just sighed as you two left. She was very confused by the fact that the Sullys just took you with them when they came here. She would have to keep an eye on them in the future.
-Neytiri had carried you to where the family was eating on the beach. Well, they would be eating there, they were waiting for you to begin eating.
-She sat down with you in her lap and handed you your tiny bowl and small portion. You taking your first bite had prompted the others to start eating as well. And you were all finished eating within fifteen minutes.
-After you were all finished eating, you got up and went into the water to float for a bit before you had to go to sleep. Your siblings went in with you and started playing around you, and your parents were watching over all of you with smiles on their faces.
-Life continued on very similar to that for about another month before things changed in a way no one could’ve predicted. (A/N: I’m gonna skip right to the part where Quaritch shows up)
Loak had planned to take you guys with him to see Payakan. You all went in the water with him to visit the Tulkun, as he hadn’t left with the rest. All of you were paying all of your attention to Loak and Payakan and didn’t notice what was happening around you.
No one noticed until it happened. But suddenly, most of the people present were snatched up and out of the water. Those being you, Loak, Kiri, Tuk, and Tsireya. You had inhaled a little bit of water from being surprised while under, and started hacking and coughing as soon as you were above the surface. As soon as you were all thrown onto the floor of the ship, your siblings circled you and patted your back as you continued to cough.
You looked around you while still coughing up some water and saw some unfamiliar navi wearing human clothes. This gave you a bad feeling in your tummy. Finally after a few more minutes your coughing slowed down and you slumped down onto the deck of the ship you were thrown on. The rough fall had also made you pretty sore.
Your siblings and Tsireya were huddled around you while you were basically limp on the boat. The avatars around you were staring at the display in confusion. They had never seen the human before this and it seemed that all of the Sully children were very attached and protective of you, even the little one.
They had missed one of the Sully kids though, the oldest one. And they got one of the water ones instead. Oh well, they can work with this. They each grabbed a kid and brought them to the railing to tie them to it. They tied up the big ones first before putting the small ones in between them. That made the group relax a bit, even if they were still glaring at them.
Quarich just smirked and went to the boy to take his earpiece, he knows he can get to Jake this way. He snatched it off of the kid’s head and brought it up to his face. He called out to Jake and told him he had his kids. He got a very quick response asking which of his kids were there.
-He brought the device to each kid’s face and prompted them to say their names. He went down the line : Loak, Y/N, Kiri, Tuk, and Tsireya.
-As soon as Jake heard his kids were with that bastard, he turned to Neytiri with a determined look on his face. When all of the kids that were there were listed, they were both ready to end all of them by themselves. Right as they were gonna leave to kill them, his oldest along with Aonung and Roxto ran to them to tell them what happened.
-He said he got the news from the source, and were gonna end them for taking their babies. They looked at each other and nodded before going to get Tonowari and Ronal as well. They also asked the boys if they wanted to help.
-They all said yes, so the group went to get the other adults. They found them quickly. Once they explained the situation, both of the other parents were ready to kill as well.
-All of them got their weapons before heading out into the water. The whole time he was talking to Quarich to make sure he didn’t do anything to the kids. He saw the boat was far enough from the shore that they could sneak up on the avatars.
-The metkayina, Jake, and Neteyam got onto their ilus and skimwings, while Neytiri got onto her ikran, and they set off stealthily to reach the ship.
-They all went over the plan together, then surfaced to fill in Neytiri in the sky, but not through the comms. They went around the back of the ship, spotted Neytiri in the sky, then gave her the signal for her to attack first.
-Neytiri shot an arrow straight for Quaritch, making sure it went through his neck. He would not get away with taking her children, especially her youngest, delicate baby.
-After the ones in the water saw the arrow go through his neck, they emerged from the water and made quick work of the rest of the avatars, who were still stunned about the first attack.
-Neytiri descended from the sky and landed on the boat. Getting out her knife and slashing Quaritches throat to make sure he was dead. The rest of the group followed with the other avatars.
Once that was said and done, each set of parents went to their children and cut them free from the railing of the ship. The metkayina all embraced each other once Tsireya was free. The Sullys all hugged each other, with you and Tuk in the middle of it. They knew seeing death this close could be a bit traumatizing for children. Jake knew that was especially true for human children.
He picked you up and held you close to his chest. He kissed your head and quietly asked you if you were alright. You just clung to him and shook your head. He turned to the rest of his family and gently shook his head. They then all circled around you too and each kissed your head and rubbed your back before they went to the edge of the ship to head back to their marui.
You went with your dad on his skimwing, Tuk with your mom on her ikran, Kiri went with Neteyam on his ilu, Loak went on the ilu Aonung was riding, Tsireya rode on the skimwing with her dad, and Aonung rode with his mother on her skimwing. The families nodded at each other when they reached the shore before parting ways to go to their own maruis.
You were still being clutched in your dad’s arms as your family made their way across the beach and the pathways to your marui. You had been coming down from the adrenaline high of getting kidnapped and rescued. You got extremely tired, so you drifted off to sleep in your dad’s arms  before you even made it home.
Tuk had done the same in your mom’s arms, the older siblings smiling at you both, though Kiri and Loak were also very tired.
-Once you made it back Kiri took your from Jake, and Loak took Tuk from Neytiri, and they went to lay in the family hammock with you two. As soon as they laid down, they were out cold. The awake members of the family just smiled at the four of you before going to make dinner for you all.
-They took their time making it to give you guys a good nap before they had to wake you up for dinner. It took the three oldest of the family about forty minutes to finish a decent sized dinner for everyone. Once they were finished, they went over to your cuddle pile and gently shook all of you awake.
-You all sat up groggily, which made the oldest three chuckle at you guys. They quietly told you that dinner was ready, which quickly woke up Loak and Tuk, who jumped up and raced out of the hammock towards where the food was.
-Jake followed them to keep them from eating before the whole family was there. Neytiri stayed with you and Kiri, who were slower waking up than her other two youngest. She gently guided Kiri out of the hammock, then pushed her towards the rest of the family.
-She, however, gently picked you up and carried you with her to the others. She sat down between Jake and Kiri before getting food for you, slightly more than usual. She had a feeling you would be slightly hungrier than normal tonight.
-Everyone else had their portions of dinner by then and started eating as soon as you had yours. You ate just as slow as you usually did, and ate everything in your bowl as well. You were still hungry after finishing it, which was very unusual for you. You turned to your mother and quietly asked her to get you more food. She smiled and gave you another portion, this time slightly smaller than your normal one.
-Your family smiled at you as you finished the second helping, set down your bowl, and immediately went back to sleep in your mother’s lap. Your youngest brother and Tuk had been scarfing down huge portions of dinner, three for Loak, and two for Tuk before they were done as well and yawned after setting their bowls down too.
-Kiri was still tired as well after eating her bigger than normal portion too. Once the whole family was done eating, Jake took all of the stuff from dinner to the kitchen and set them down as Neytiri and Neteyam helped the rest of the family back into bed. He joined them as soon as he was done.
-He cuddled everyone close when he joined his family in their hammock. Pulling his mate and two youngest close to him while smiling. The older children stuck close to their parents’ side and fell asleep quickly. Jake and Neytiri shared a light kiss before going to sleep as well.
-When you woke up the next day you refused to let go of your family. And they were in heaven, even if they were also recovering from the major scare the day before. They had each taken some time for themselves throughout the day, essentially taking shifts with you to let you cling to them.
-By the end of the day, you were calmer and wanted to float outside the marui. You told them this, and they had someone go supervise you as you did it. You relaxed there for the hour before dinner was done.
-Loak had been watching over you the whole time. Once he heard that dinner was ready, he went over to the edge of the pathway and splashed some water on you to get your attention.
-He smiled at you as you opened your eyes and lifted your head to look over at him. He raised a hand and motioned you to come towards him. You just blinked at him before swimming over to the edge of the pathway.
-Once you were right in front of him, he reached out and lifted you right out of the water and into his arms. He easily carried you into the marui and to where the rest of your family was. He sat you down on his lap while he was between Kiri and Neteyam.
-His dad handed him his plate and yours, the last ones to be handed out, but he wasn’t that upset about it. This was the first time in a while that he got to have you with him during a meal, and he was going to relish it.
He gently handed you your dinner before starting to eat his. He was still shocked to this day how little food you eat. And that it makes you full. Last night was the most he had ever seen you eat, and it was still a pretty small amount compared to navi children. But, he couldn’t say anything about it since you were healthy, and he knew everyone else in his family, with the exception of his dad, felt that way. He figured it was since he had a lot more experience with human children.
It didn’t take long after you were done for the rest of the family to finish as well. Your mom took all of the things from dinner away while the rest of the family went towards your hammock. Loak had carried you over with him while Neteyam carried Tuk. They both laid down with you two and snuggled together, with Kiri joining while you were settling down. Not long after that, your parents came and snuggled in on either side of your little pile, each with an arm resting over all of you.
You all peacefully went to sleep, content with the reassuring presence of your family.

This Family Is Our Fortress
Summary: Years after the war against the sky people, your family have found peace
Pairing: Jake Sully x Fem!Na’vi!Reader
Warnings: Reader is a mom of soon to be 4, pregnancy, reference of war
Word count: 0.9k
A/N: I had a craving for something tooth achingly sweet, so a Sully family piece was born. In this Neytiri is essentially replaced by you, sorry. I love you Neytir, maybe next time. Thank you all for reading! If you enjoyed reading, please like/reblog/comment/follow to support me and to let me know if I should do more of this type of content! 🥰🫶🏻
Tumblr media
You had many things that you felt grateful to Eywa for. Some where your clan - your family - the Omaticaya. For your Sa’nok (Mother) and Sempul (Father) and their love for you. For Eywa’s love for everyone and everything, for her allowance for you to to breathe and walk on her planet.
You were thankful for Jake Sully. Former human, a sky demon, who came to Pandora and learned the way of the People, and in turn becoming one. You were thankful for Turuk Makto (Shadow Rider) who brought peace to Pandora by defeating the humans, despite having worked for and been one himself. You were thankful for Jake Sully, who became your mate.
What you were the most thankful for was the blessing of your and Jake’s children. Neteyam was your first son, who was conceived just before the battle against the sky people. His birth was a beacon of hope and new beginnings, and the start of a family that would eventually become six.
Around that same time came Kiri, the sudden and unexplained daughter of Dr. Grace Augustine. Grace had been part of your life since childhood, and her tragic death was a heavy loss on the clan. But her passing would then reveal itself to not be the end of Grace’s legacy. Jake and you took Kiri in without doubt the second you knew of her existence. Sweet little Kiri, your daughter in all but blood.
After Kiri was the second and last son of yours, Lo’ak. His birth was a joy for the whole family, and a great happiness for his brother and sister that would become older siblings. With your second itan (son), you and Jake though that the family was officially complete. That was until you feel pregnant once again when Neteyam and Kiri was 7 and Lo’ak 6. You were currently almost halfway through the pregnancy, and you and Jake couldn’t be happier of your big family.
”Alright kids, it’s bath time!” Jake called out for Neteyam, Kiri and Lo’ak who were running around playing in the mud outside of the hammock. You were preparing the last of the food that you’d eat after the children had bathed.
They slowed down, Neteyam and Kiri pouting while Lo’ak full out whined at the news that playtime was over. ”But Sempul (Father)! Please, just a few more minutes?”
Jake shook his head, hands on his hips. ”Nope. Come on, food’s almost ready.”
They collectively groaned but obeyed their father, to which you smiled. With one glance at them, you realized that today Jake would need your help to bath them if you wanted the meat to still be warm when they were done. So with that you rose up onto feet and followed them down to the body of water, Kiri’s little hand creeping itself into you own.
Bath time took a little longer than usual due to the excessive amount of dirt and small sticks in-beaded in your children’s hair, but with the help of Jake you all made it back to the kelku while the food was still somewhat warm.
Dinner was as usual a time where everyone shared about their day. Lo’ak, Kiri and Neteyam did most of the talking, excitedly telling vivid stories of all the adventures they had during the day. You and Jake offered played out reactions to spur them on, asking followup questions to hear more of their excitement. That exited retelling steadily faded away to slow blinking and yawns escaping their small mouths. You smiled, getting the small ones to bed wouldn’t be hard this night.
”Lets get you all tucked in now.” Jake fondly said to the kids, and they did not complain this time. They instead nodded and rose from the floor. Kiri and Neteyam rose up their arms in request for their Sempul (Father) to carry them, which Jake did. Lo’ak looked up to you, arms asking for you to also pick him up. You did so with a coo, pressing a kiss to the boys forehead.
Jake and you carried the children to the place your family slept, cuddling up into a nest of tangled limps. It wasn’t every night that you all slept tangled up like this, what with your children growing older, but tonight was one of those night.
”Goodnight Ma’ite (My daughter).” You cooed, pressing a kiss to Kiri’s little head, which Jake copied. She smiled, murmuring a goodnight in return. You then did the same with Neteyam and Lo’ak. ”Goodnight Ma’itans (My sons).”
”Sa’nok (Mother), can you please sing?” Neteyam requested bashfully, Lo’ak going in with small pleading and Kiri nodded enthusiastically also in agreement. Jake laughed a little at the familiar request they had asked so many times before. You smiled warmly, agreeing instantly. ”Yes, Sa’nok (Mother) can sing.”
The children settled back, relaxing into their parents warm embraces as you started to sing the same lullaby that you’d sung over a thousand times by now. Barely halfway through the song, your children where peacefully asleep. Your voice faded away as you and Jake shared a loving smile.
Jake lend his neck down to kiss you softly. You hummed against his lips, as content as can be. You relaxed back against his strong shoulder, closing your eyes. Jake’s hand settled gently against your swollen stomach, where it would remain as a protective blanket for the rest of the night. ”Night, [Name], sleep well. I love you.”
”Goodnight, Ma’Jake. I love you too.” You whispered before letting yourself fall asleep, safe and happy in the arms of your family.

summary: [y/n] has always been an angry girl. why wouldn't she be ready to fight any avatar that puts their hands in her siblings?
sully family x sully!reader
a/n: i just did this one for fun because i wanted one where she's an absolute boss and a half. love her !! remember , reqs are open and waiting. i probably won't write anymore fali x [y/n] stuff unless i get specific reqs because they're really difficult to write without direct inspo and ideas. once again , motivation is really important to keep me writing , so please comment feedback + reblog !! i would seriously appreciate it. ( also , for some odd reason my two most recent works have barely gotten any interaction -- idk if that's just bc tumblr is being a problem , or if it's because fali has lost his magic touch ( which if so , i completely get it ) , but if you guys could help me out to try and figure out what's going on ?? )

angry spirit
Tumblr media
nobody quite understood the rage that naturally flowed through the veins of the women in the sully family. nobody quite understood the urge to protect that seemed to be carried between each and every one of the children that jake and neytiri shared and adored together. nobody quite understood… not until they experienced it themselves.
and trust me, plenty of people have experienced it, humans and na’vi alike. even from a young age, there were times where one of the kids were ( one-hundred and ten percent ) willing to fight another kid if it meant they would stop picking on their siblings.
luckily — of perhaps unluckily, depending on the perspective — that shared agreement only seemed to get stronger with age. as the relationships between each kid developed, as more seemed to join the family in general, there was a camaraderie between the five sully kids. even tuk, just a tiny thing herself, was well aware of her willingness to risk her own life if it meant she could save her sisters and brothers.
that being said, there was absolutely no way any of her older siblings would ever let that slide, but it was a sweet sentiment on its own.
even though this habitual response seemed to run through every sully’s blood, it was strongest in the eldest girl.
being neteyam’s twin — younger by just a few minutes — allowed for [y/n] to balance him out. while he had the expectations of future olo’eyktan on his shoulders from the moment he graced pandora with his birth, [y/n] was a freer spirit.
she was also a much more angry spirit.
not that she held fury against every person she interacted with, but [y/n] wasn’t scared of disliking anyone. she also wasn’t scared of letting them know that she didn’t like them; a blessing and a curse, the sully family often called it.
but it stemmed further than that. it ran stronger than that.
from a young age, jake taught his oldest daughter how to channel her anger much healthier. what did jake sully consider a healthy outlet? well, fighting, of course.
so, the sully child that’d been this close to fighting another kid in lo’ak’s honor? yeah, that was [y/n].
not to mention her iknimaya — the rite of passage that quite possibly boosted this girl’s ego far too high. she deserved it, though. not many young na’vis could complete the event in such little time, especially against the pain that her ikran was.
he was a bitter fellow, similar to his spirit sister. angry at the world for every little thing and always ready for a fight. they truly were connected in every possible way.
but, her iknimaya was physical evidence that fighting fire with fire never worked. the truth was that one flame had to overcome the other — one flame had to envelop the other. it was just a matter of which flame was stronger.
[y/n] knew from the moment she locked eyes and that joyful, adrenaline-filled grin blessed her face that she would win.
thank eywa she believed in herself, because neytiri and jake nearly lost all of their faith at the sight of the monster that towered over the young girl.
another notable moment — or perhaps a series of moments — of her oh-so optimistic and joyful personality was prompted by her very own father. if there was one thing that the oldest daughter was confident in, it was her father’s love. she knew that he loved her — loved all of them — and that made it extremely easy for her to argue with him on any topic she disagreed with.
as annoying as it happened to be to jake, neytiri loved that she was raising a strong woman. it often reminded her of herself at a young age.
but, every single one of those stories were child’s play compared to the raw anger that surged through her body when her and her siblings’ lives were held under knife and gunpoint.
[y/n], the original rebel and inspiration for lo’ak’s ‘admirable’ choices, was happy to join the crew on their adventure through the jungle. with lo’ak grounded from flying due to his choices just the other night, he’d practically begged his older sister to join them.
they were partners in crime, afterall.
once neteyam decided to become all responsible and stuff ( not that [y/n] blamed him… but it was disappointing ), [y/n] and lo’ak seemed to have magnetized toward each other, although that might be a sign to turn the other way and run as fast and as far as you can.
either way, [y/n] found herself exploring the similar jungle scene alongside all of her siblings minus neteyam and with the additional presence of spider.
as soon as the familiar scene turned not-so familiar, it seemed that [y/n] had a feeling. a feeling that something was wrong, that something else was creeping. she should have listened to her gut.
and that same thought resurfaced as soon as the stomach-dropping view of the avatars overcame her view from the bushes.
it was only once said avatars put their hands on her baby siblings that the familiar settled, bubbling beneath her thick layers of skin. it was only when [y/n] fell into an eerie silence and state of pure calm that every other sully sibling felt their own fear.
even as tuk squirmed and cried against the bruising grip of the avatar’s, even as kiri cried out at the sharp knife edge against her throat, even as spider fought his restraints, even as lo’ak stared into the terrifying eyes of the same man that had nearly killed his father…
[y/n] stayed perfectly compliant. stuck on her knees, queue throbbing at the feeling of her opponent tugging it, [y/n] merely stared straight at quaritch. silently, her urge to fight was building, and everybody that knew her was perfectly aware. and ready.
she ran her tongue smoothly against her fangs, eyes narrowed straight at the man that threatened the lives of her siblings.
a solid thirty minutes had already passed, eclipse coming quicker than [y/n] would’ve preferred. she just had to hope that, without being used to their forest and bodies, the avatar’s didn’t have the same keen night vision as she did.
“you okay there, kid?” the avatar teased, attempting to startle her with his threatening voice. he tugged her braid, nearly drawing a hiss from deep within her rib cage, but she held it back. he seemed to be bothered with the fact that her eyes hadn’t once left the body of their colonel.
but, for once, she drifted her gaze to meet her perpetrator and summoned english for his benefit. “ask again in a few minutes.”
and, almost as if [y/n] could feel the presence of her parents, a familiar bird call echoed through the nighttime breeze. her ears pressed back against her head in shock before she quickly recovered and flashed an innocent smile to the avatar.
he merely grunted, pulling her braid one last time for good measure, and looked back up at quaritch.
now, she just had to be patient. she could do that. well, as long as she got what she wanted in the end, and that was a good fight. she deserved it after letting the chains rub back and forth against her wrists, eating at her skin through the friction.
that being said, as soon as her mother’s signal became clear, she straightened up and locked eyes with lo’ak. a discreet nod was enough between them. grab tuk and go. she knew kiri and spider would handle themselves.
plus, the extra connection between spider and quaritch was just another layer of protection for her baby sister. perhaps it was a terrible way of thinking, but [y/n] wouldn’t dwindle too much on it. the urge to survive had its faults, afterall.
and finally, once neytiri’s arrow soared through the air, it was go time.
while lo’ak and tuk bit the arms of their restraining avatars, lo’ak also doubling duty and releasing whatever gas canisters had been accessible on the guy’s belt, kiri and spider were lucky enough to be given a chance to run as soon as the avatars lifted their guns.
[y/n] liked to do it the hard way, though.
she swung her legs in a swift motion, wrapping them around the avatar’s. she weighed his bottom half, keeping him from being able to move far, and in a split second, neytiri’s arrow was embedded in his chest.
[y/n] let go, scrambling to her feet and up the nearest tree, finding a moment of solace nested in the upper branches. she could see everything, and they couldn’t see her — she was a master of disguise and hiding, if anything.
and then, it seemed the world went a few clicks quieter, gunfire calming down just a tad. one scan of the scene, and [y/n] knew it was because they’d lost sight of her siblings.
“the kids are gone.” a voice crackled through the walkie strapped to a dead avatar’s chest at the base of the tree, the small noise quiet against the chaotic scene. [y/n] was merely lucky she was in little enough of a proximity to even catch the words.
“what do you mean gone?” quaritch. she could tell from his stingy accent and infuriating pronunciation of vowels.
a beat of quiet against more raining gunfire. “the boy and youngest girl ran off. tarzan and the other girl split to the opposite direction.”
“which other girl?” [y/n] felt a familiar smile on her face.
“what do you mean —”
quaritch was angry, and [y/n] couldn’t help but find pure enjoyment from the scene. little did he know that the young na’vi girl could now see him from her spot in the tree, eyes narrowed on the colonel hunched behind a fallen log.
“there are two girls. one of ‘em quiet and useless, the other looks like her devil of a mother.” the same mother that managed to kill him the first time.
[y/n]’s eyes focused on the demon in na’vi skin, watching his face contort at the familiar arrow pierced in the wood beside him. it was almost as if he’d conjured her very own “devil of a mother” into existence. “seems that very mother might be in attendance this fine evening.”
[y/n] scrunched her nose in disgust, her skin crawling at his words. she really could not stand him. but, her attention was quickly pulled back to reality when he dropped the walkie and called into the open air, all while reloading his gun, “that you, mrs. sully? i recognize your calling card.”
instantly, [y/n]’s head whipped around, locating the exact tree in which her mother hid behind. unfortunately, [y/n] was a few feet away and at the worst possible angle to help.
“why don’t you come on out, mrs. sully?” quaritch continued, and [y/n]’s eyes followed a different avatar that began to creep past the colonel. “you’n i, we got some… unfinished business.”
“demon!” neytiri’s voice caused panic to spike in the young na’vi’s heart, blood pumping with adrenaline. “i will kill you as many times as i have to.”
it was only when [y/n] looked back at quaritch that she noticed the other avatar was missing. a million different curse words rattled deep within her brain, eyes widening in fear.
meanwhile, quaritch would not be distracted from his tangent. “i guess you an’ the corporal have been pretty… busy, haven’t ya? got yourself a whole litter of… half-breeds.”
what could she do?
as quickly and as silently as she could, [y/n] scrambled through the wet tree branches, cursing herself every time her feet lost grip. nerves added up with rain never helped.
at the very last second, [y/n] reached a spot in which she could just barely see her mom. well, her mom, and the avatar that had a gun aimed right at her. just as [y/n] opened her mouth and prepared to scream a distraction, an arrow flew right through the avatar’s body.
gunfire followed almost immediately after, and her dangerous balance finally lost way, causing the girl to topple from her position and into the muddy ground below.
[y/n] was quick to stand up — she had to be — but the scene was not a pretty sight to behold.
she was surrounded. surrounded by three different avatars, each with their own weapon that could quite easily hurt her, if not kill her on the spot. she just prayed that, if they did manage to get to her, she could make them scream first.
[y/n] knew she would. it was always just a matter of mentality, right?
and so, as if the clock slowed down just for her, [y/n]’s eyes flashed around her and gauged every detail possible. the machine gun, loaded and prepared ( although she had noticed that it was already halfway empty ), in the hands of the avatar to her right, the two knives ready in the hands of the avatar to her left, and the last avatar just in front of her. nothing but his fists.
a smile surfaced.
she could deal with that.
and then, before the rest of her body returned to the consciousness of time, her feet began to move. [y/n] lifted her arms so she could see her wrists — still wrapped in chains — and she leapt upwards.
her long legs gave her a higher jump, bringing her and her hands to the perfect height to wrap her chains around the weaponless avatar’s neck. she swung herself around, legs hooking his torso as she tugged with every bit of strength she could muster.
at the chaotic sounds around her, [y/n] knew that bullets were being fired now. lucky for her, she had her very own personal shield, but that meant the tree she was choking was about to go timber.
once she felt the warm splatters of his blood against her stomach, she knew she only had a matter of time before getting squished under a dead man’s weight. [y/n] shifted her weight, unhooking her legs and placing her feet on his hips very carefully.
[y/n] kept her ears aware at all times as she leapt up and off of the now dead avatar, pushing him onto the ground with her jump. her ears moved vigilantly, picking up the sounds of the bullets just before they were shot so she could move just in time to avoid any casualties.
and then her favorite sound rang through the air. an empty cartridge.
at that, her infamous smirk surfaced as she locked eyes with the now useless avatar.
now, behind her, the third avatar with the knives thought she was being slick, creeping behind her with both weapons raised to stab her in the back.
luckily, [y/n] was far too aware and far too pissed to miss such an important detail.
just as the third avatar broke through stabbing distance, [y/n] whirled around and disarmed her in a quick movement. both knives flew into the air, and she swiftly grabbed each of them.
each blade found their own homes embedded in the chests of her enemies
and then, just like that, she’d won.
[y/n] huffed for air, three dead avatars laying around her feet. blood pooled, swirling in an overwhelming pool of maroon. and none of it was hers.

a short summary of veronica's life before motherhood
Tumblr media
Veronica never thought she wanted to experience motherhood. Her parents were never there for her as they claimed to be busy with their work and would rather stay in the lab than be at home. She never complained, though. They did what they did to survive and still brought food to the table.
That’s what she learned throughout her life, to work hard and stay on top. Life was black and white to her. There wasn't any other way. She knew her life would be full of paper and research.
That was until Grace saved her, introducing her to new perspective in living. She showed her what the na’vi lived for, what they believed in. Veronica was doubtful, but with Jake’s persistency, she came to love them. Even came to love him.
Everyone saw it coming. With Jake’s stubborness and Veronica’s need to be perfect, they often clashed with one another. But the woman came to understand him, he acted the way he did recklessly because it was what he believed in. She never fought for what she believed in because she had none to begin with.
And if you told her that she would believe in love and fought for it, she would have denied it. Whether he was in his avatar or human form, he was it for her.
And Neytiri came.
Jake met Neytiri first before she did. Veronica met her when Grace’s school opened again. She was skeptical of the na’vi, as Neytiri was with her. But when she saw a photo of her, Grace, and with another woman who appeared to be nowhere, Veronica asked her who she was.
Honesty and vulnerability brought them together. Neytiri admired Veronica for having strong opinions and a logical mind, and she was smart.
At first, Veronica was conflicted. Loving two people felt overwhelming and it didn’t make sense. For once in her life, she felt disorganised. She pushed everyone away, including Neytiri, and didn’t speak to anyone unless it was necessary.
Jake didn’t give a fuck, though. He knew that something was going on between her and Neytiri. The na’vi woman would attempt on asking about how Veronica was, thinking she was subtle. And he knew that there was something between themselves too.
He knew Veronica wasn’t one to feel any emotions and face them head on. Like a baby, she was new to this. After having an open talk with her, he offered an idea that they both would agree, but needed the na'vi woman's say.
Polyamorous relationships were normal and traditional even, sometimes it happens just to increase the numbers of people in the clan. When Veronica was told of this, she was surprised. Perhaps that is the reason why Neytiri seem so nonchalant about being with two people when the two confronted her of it.
Their relationship had its up and downs, but it worked. As long as the trio remained truthful and open, there was no problem. What started as the three of them turned into the eight of them. A big family that was filled with love and care.
If this was a dream, Veronica never wanted to wake up.

You Always Make Things Better
Jake’s favorite days were the days he had off from his Olo’eyktan duties. Some days he would go off with Neytiri and just run around the forest not paying attention to anything else besides the thrill of his freedom from daily tasks.
The best days, however, were when he would get to spend time with his kids. Doing anything with them was so special, and could immediately make him feel better on a bad day. He loved being with them, even if he was just watching over them while they played amongst each other.
Today was one of those days, and he watched as Kiri was chased by Spider and Lo’ak across the stream, while Neteyam played by himself off to the side, building a little house with sticks.
Someone was missing though, you, little (Y/n).
You weren’t in on the action or helping Neteyam which is where you would usually be, but instead you sat across the stream with your knees pulled up to your chest. You were obviously upset and it pulled on Jake’s heartstrings as he watched you sulk.
He had to do something, so he got up, crossing the stream over to you. You looked up at him when he stood over you, but you didn't do anything else.
He sat next to you, “You okay, kiddo?”
You huffed, just making an unpleasant noise, so he asked another question, “Are you having big feelings?”
As a response to him you just nodded your head, not saying anything. Now that Jake was closer he could see the look on your face better, and he knew that face, you were angry.
Even though he knew how you were feeling, he and Neytiri were trying to let you and your siblings express yourselves, to communicate what you were feeling instead of them assuming, “Okay so what are you feeling?”
If smoke could come out of your ears it would be, and you scrunched up your face before yelling at him, “I’m angry!”
Jake kept a calm demeanor about him, being mad at her for yelling at him wouldn’t help them work through how she was feeling, “About what?”
You frowned, crossing your arms over your chest, and looking over to your siblings playing, “Lo’ak! He stole my toy…”
Jake looked over to where you were watching Lo’ak chasing Kiri, an ikran toy held in his hand, “Alright, let's talk about it then.”
You shook your little head in resistance, “I don’t want to talk about it.”
Jake sighed, trying to reason with you, “But we need to talk about it.”
You shook your head again, flailing your arms this time, “No!”
Jake thought about what he could do to solve the situation, “Okay… I can get you a new toy if you’d like.”
You were growing visibly frustrated now, your anger not simmering down with it, “No, I want that one.”
Jake hummed, “Let's ask Lo’ak for it then. Explain how he made you feel.” when you continued to sit there and look at him he gently pushed your shoulder, “Go ask, then tell me what happens.”
You sighed, loudly, dramatically, “Okay daddy.”
You stalked over towards Lo’ak, shouting for him to stop and come talk to you. He obliged, stopping his chase on Kiri, while her and Spider continued without him.
Jake couldn’t hear what you were saying from where he was, but as you spoke your face started to become happier, a smile on it now. Lo’ak nodded his head, yes, every once in a while, and responded verbally when you would give him a chance, and soon enough the toy was back in your hands.
You rushed back to your dad, a wide smile on your face, “He gave it back!”
Jake couldn’t hold back his smile as he patted you on the head, “Good. Now go play.”
“I’m gonna help Neteyam with his house!” You proudly informed your father of your plan.
He laughed, “I’m sure he would love help. Make sure you don’t knock it down though.”
You were turned away from him, about to run off, but before you did you turned back around and gave him a hug, “Thanks daddy, you always make things better!”

Sorry this was a request but Tumblr being Tumblr I lost the post and had to rewrite it, I don't do part 3s but I made it very similar to it
Sully Family x Sibling Reader
Summary: the sullys always protect one another especially the baby (you)
Warning: platonic
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yn/3rd person pov
The adrenaline was wearing off, my panting breath was the only thing I could hear through my ringing ears, i looked through my blurry eyes up to the top of the hill which I fall down.
I was a long ways down I groaned as I slowly rose to rest on my elbows so I could see my surroundings I don't know where I am nothing looks familiar, I raised one of my hands to my forehead letting out a shakey breathe as I felt the hot crimson liquid.
"F-fuck" I cursed bringing the hand infront of my eyes, the blood dripped down my fingers I watched a drop slide down the palm of my hand.
"I'm never gonna be let out again" I muttered breathlessly and brought my hand to the communication device attached to my neck "d-dad" i sighed in pain and closed my eyes tightly.
"What's wrong yn are you hurt" his voice sounded fizzy through the radio but I could still hear the concern in his voice "I was out l-looking for stuff for mom and I I fell" I murmured and groaned as i sat up straight.
"Are you hurt my yn" mon spoke "just a little but I'll live" I said and slowly tried to stand up but lost my balance each time "where are you so we can come get you" this time it was neteyam speaking his voice somewhat panicked.
"I don't really know the last thing I know was just passed the abandoned shack where we get the nice fruit I like from" u sighed I heard faded voices through the radio probably lo'ak and kiri "ok we're on our way hold on tight".
Neteyam and jake both rushed to their ikrans and lo'ak came closely behind trying to reason with their father "dad I know where she is" he tried going to his ikran but jake stopped him "enough, go home and stay put do you understand me".
Lo'ak sighed and nodded defeatedly watching them mount their ikrans and dive into the afternoon sky, his eyes twitched debating his next move "fuck it" he muttered running to his ikran and flying out, lo'ak made sure to avoid his father and older brother in the sky using all the short cuts he knew.
Lo'ak was the first to get to me "yn" he yelled jumping off his ikran and running to my side "l-lo'ak where's dad" I felt dizzy from the loss of blood, my body trembled as he held me "close i-i think" he stammered looking towards the sky I looked up at him he differently gonna be in trouble.
He grabbed some cloth from his satchel and wrapping them around my wounds somewhat slowly the blood flow "thanks-" I was interrupted by the sound of dad's ikran "lo'ak" dad called making lo'ak cringe.
Dad and neteyam hoped off their ikrans and came towards us dad's eyes fill with anger intill he saw my wrapped wounds "good job but next time listen to me" he hissed and lo'ak nodded "let's get you home baby girl" dad turned to me, neteyam and lo'ak grabbing my sides helping me to my feet.
They brought me over to neteyams ikran and helped me on "don't fall... again" lo'ak tried to joke making me love sarcastically "funny" I muttered and groaned as neteyam settled behind me.
"Are you ok" he murmured as he wrapped his arms around me preparing to fly "just dizz-" my vision slowly turned black and my body limp "yn" his voice faded into nothing.
-Time skip-
My eyes slowly fluttered open and a pained groan left my lips as I felt a dam cloth being layed on my forehead "w-who" I whispered trying to left my hand but he clasped my hand gently keeping it down.
"You need to rest sister" his voice was low and caring as I heard water being rung out and another cloth pressed over my shoulder "neteyam" I hissed the medicine stinging my wound making him chuckle lightly "next time maybe watch where your going".
I huffed rolling my eyes "next time I'll just make you get the stuff for me you skxawng" he chuckled again shaking his head as his arm moved under my body helping me to sit up.
"Maybe next time tell me where your going so I can go hunting while you collect things ewya knows moms never letting you leave alone again"

Tw: Testing on a child, mentions of war, skypeople are assholes, siblings fighting, cursing, goofy stuff, reader is an adult and is 5′11, reader’s hair and eyes turn white.
Author’s note: I know I said that the last post will be the last side quest, but I swear this one will be the last I swear, I just couldn’t help it because Storm is my favorite Xmen.
Masterlist
Your parents were scientists that worked with the RDA, what they didn’t expect was to have you and you be born on Pandora. Since you had been brought into the world, your parents had thought of making a mutant, you. They believed that in the future you’d be a good weapon for the RDA. So the tests began at an early age, since you were barely born they waited a while, until you had turned a year old. No one really questioned about you since you had been hidden in their lab the whole time. Then things began to get worse, the Skypeople began to go after the na’vi, they had decided to take their home. But of course the na’vi were going to fight for their land. After the war, most of the sky people had been sent back, including your parents. You had beed found by Max who told Jake about you, including the testing, Jake felt some what of guilt.
Seen that you only three years old, alone and you had been tested on to be as weapon, so he had taken you in with Neytiri, at first she didn’t want to but she saw that you were harmless. You were only a child that had been involed with horrible, so she decided to adopt you. Neytiri thought that taking care of a human baby was going to be hard, since it takes them a while for humans to learn, but it was just like taking care of a na’vi toddler. Neytiri had grown to love you, you were just the sweetest child she had ever met. What made her even more happy when you said your first word, which was Mama, she cried of happiness then pulled you into a hug. She was happy that you saw her as a mother, a real mother, not the one who had been testing on you.
Then Neteyam had been born, you were confused about the new born, but when you got told that he is your brother. You had told Jake and Neytiri that he didn’t look like you, but they just laughed and told you that Neteyam is your brother whether he didn’t look like you. When you got to hold him, you got a good look at him, since then you had told your parents that you will protect your brother no matter what. Later came Kiri and Lo’ak, Neteyam was one year old and you were four. You and Neteyam were happy that you had more siblings, again you had asked why they didn’t look like you, but you brushed it off when you saw that they looked exactly like Neteyam when he was a baby.
When you turned five years old, that was when your powers kicked in. You had playing with river with your family, you were running around with Neteyam and Kiri while Jake splashed water towards you. Then you had tripped over a root that had been sticking out, you scrapped your knee, it wasn’t bad but it hurt a lot. When you had began crying, this caught Jake’s attention seeing that you got hurt, but then the sky began to get cloudy and thunder was heard, your eyes had also been glowing a white color while you cried. Jake picked you up, comforting you that you were okay, you cried until you fell asleep. Causing the sky to clear again, this needed to be seen by Norm and Max, when you had taken you to the lab to get you checked up. They had checked you, you had some kind of strange mutations on your DNA caused by the testing you went through. When Jake had mentioned the cloud and thunder, that was when it was conformed that you had the ability to manipulate manipulate storms. It was obvious that this was caused by your biological parents since they had been working on making you into a weapon.
After he got back to the Hut with you, Jake had a talk with Neytiri about your new found ability, Neytiri was somewhat ready for this moment since she knew about the testing done on you. She didn’t expect for you to be able to call a storm.
Both Jake and Neytiri decided to help in any way possible, you were still growing up and you needed help now more than ever.
When you’d get mad or upset, you’d call in a storm, which involved hard rain, thunder and wind. So Neytiri began to teach you how to stay and remain calm when you were feeling a negative emotion coming in.
It was hard at first since you were a bit impatient, but you had manage to stay calm when you needed.
Then your eyes had fully turned white and your hair had also become white, no one could really explain why your hair and eyes were now white, but it was to represent the lighting that you could also manipulate.
When it would rain, you’d always be outside. You didn’t cause the rain, but you couldn’t help but love it. Your parents had often told you that you’d get a cold but you never did, you’d get a summer fever but never get sick from the rain.
Now at 12 years old, you had manage to have your powers under control. Sometimes you’d use your powers for important things, such as making it rain so that the crops and plants could grow during the summer when the rain barely came out.
Then came Tuk, the final addition to the family. Now that you were older, you now where fully aware that you have been adopted by Jake and Neytiri, at first you didn’t see it, but now you did.
At first you thought your whole life had been a lie, you felt lied to for years, but they explained everything, how your biological parents had been testing on you to create a weapon out of you.
You were a weapon, but not the weapon they were expecting. Your abilities weren’t a big of a threat as they wanted, in your parents eyes they thought that your abilities were good.
Since then you had forgotten about being adopted and such, you had been taken in by both Neytiri and Jake when they didn’t have to. You felt better knowing that you had a family that loved you.
You’d also somewhat take advantage of your abilities when it came to your siblings. When you’d play a game of tag, in order for you not be it, you’d use your wind abilities to move you to the other side to avoid gettinf tagged.
It’d piss of Neteyam the most, he’d say that it wasn’t fair since you had powers and they didn’t.
When it came to the two of you, you both would fight a lot, he’d argue that he was bigger and you’d argue that you were older. It was you who had called him a penis face, which Kiri caught on then she began to say it to Lo’ak when they’d fight.
Jake knew full well were she got it from, you got scolded for your language since Kiri had been repeating what you’d say.
Now that you were fully 18, Neytiri had tried and talk you into finding a mate, she didn’t want to peer pressure you since you were a grown adult, Neytiri just doesn’t want you being by yourself when one day her and Jake will no longer be with you. When Neteyam had heard about your mother suggesting you to find a mate, he will not allow it. He acted as if he was the older over protective brother and he began watch you like hawk. When a boy from the village would get a bit to close, Neteyam would coincidently come across the two of you and pull you away saying that you’re needed. When he’d tell you to cover up, you’d give him a ‘are you fucking dumb’ look, like seriously. Then he had the bright Idea get you human clothes from the lab and it fit you perfectly, he felt proud of himself seen you all covered up, you hated it, except for this one leather jacket that he had given you.
You didn’t wear the other clothes but for the leather jacket since you thought it looked cool, Neteyam was mad and he demanded you wear the other stuff too. You both got into a fight, arguing and yelling that he was your brother and he was protecting you, while you screamed at him that you were a grown woman and his older sister. Right before you were about hit him with a lightning bolt, youo were broken up by Neytiri and Jake, you got scolded for using your powers dumb reasons, and Neteyam got scolded for not letting you be.
When you had discovered make up, you began to practice on how to apply it on your face. Once you got better at it, you decided to use it to piss of your brother.
You began wear makeup and walk around the village, causing boys to look your way, of course Neteyam noticed this and he demanded you stop wearing it.
You refused, then he had threated to break your makeup if you continued. Boy did you want to strangle him in his sleep, as much as you love your brother, he was so annoying.
Tuk had grown interested in Makeup, so you decided to put some on her, you wanted to put some on Kiri but she wasn’t sure if the makeup is vegan or naturally made.
When Neteyam saw what you had done to Tuk, he did a whole as scene on how you’re corrupting Tuk, making you and Kiri laugh.
He tried to wash off her face but Tuk would hiss at him if Neteyam got near her with a bowl of water. He tried to snitch on you for putting makeup on Tuk, but he got told that it was nothing wrong.
One night that he slept, you, Tuk and Kiri put makeup on him, luckily he did not wake up at all.
The next morning, you and your sisters were acting suspicious, while Lo’ak couldn’t stop laughing, when Neteyam asked about it, you gave him a mirror and his face turned into one of rage.
Of course he blamed you for doing this to him, making you laugh and not admitting it was you.
Kiri had taken a picture, while Neteyam tried to take the camera away, Jake and Neytiri had come in, seen the chaos unfold, Neytiri tried so hard not laugh while Jake was trying to be serious but ended up laughing.
Neytiri took Neteyam away to wash his face. While you, Tuk, Kiri, Lo’ak and Jake looked at the picture Kiri took of Neteyam.
The whole day Neteyam was glaring at you, for sure planning revenge on you for doing that to him.
Now Lo’ak wanted a make over just to see how pretty he’d be, which you, Kiri and Tuk gladly did. When Neteyam came to look for Lo’ak, he found him in makeup. Neteyam had thought you had got to him too, only to be told that he wanted it.
When Spider came by, he witness Lo’ak’s make over which made him laugh. Lo’ak had brushed it off saying that Spider was jealous he did not look as good as he did.

Alignment: part four
Lo'ak x Fem!Reader (Platonic)
Tumblr media
➴ Summary: Eywa finally hears Lo’ak’s pleas for her to bring his brother back but instead of a brother, Lo’ak receives howling winds with lashing rain and a warrior… who eats people?
➴ Warning:  brief mention of character description  e.g. height, age and features but it doesn’t impact the story, I will be bringing up height again I think but it’s not an important plot point
➴ Word count: 5.7k
➴ Note: Hiii, sorry this has taken so long to come out. I had been writing and rewriting this for I don’t know how long alongside work, moving house and being ill. Sorry for the wait. I’m not too sure if I even like this but this is the longest I’ve written so far.
This is how I imagine Ao’nung to look >>> I love it
I mentioned in the previous part that Lo’ak commented that y/n is taller up close. I imagine Lo’ak being about 8’2 and y/n being 8’5 (I made heights for everyone, minus the adults).
I got a message about how I personally imagine y/n, I didn’t start writing this with a final look for her in mind, so I created a pinterest to get ideas >>> if you wanna take a look
Feel free to comment or message me if you have any suggestions.

[three] [five]
Eight days. It has been eight days since y/n landed on Awa’atlu. Eight days with no updates from her father. She had been watching the skies for anything but just like the rest of Awa’atlu, the sky was calm. But to y/n it was unsettling.
She was becoming restless with the routine she had slipped into. Wake up, eat breakfast with Lo’ak, worry about her people, avoid Ronal and mend the breastplate. The latter seems to be the hardest because the Metkayina doesn’t have access to the same materials as those on the island. In all honesty, y/n did not need a saddle to return to her home, it was mainly for comfort. But when she thought of leaving, the burn in her chest told her to stay.
She had been thinking nonstop about what could’ve happened or what could be happening. Had her father found the two avatars and dealt with them? Had there been more casualties? If something extreme had happened, surely someone would fly out to find her? It wouldn’t be hard to track her down, considering Rìkxi had taken it upon himself to claim a corner of the island as his own.
“Let’s do something today,” y/n suggested as Lo’ak walked into her marui with a bowl of fruit in his arms.
Lo’ak paused, sitting down, crossing his legs and putting the bowl next to him.
“Are you asking me on a date?” He smirked
“Don’t be ridiculous.”
“Ridiculous? Am I not your type?”
“I hate to say it, but you’re not. You’re a bit too young and you’re not tall enough.”
“My poor heart,” Lo’ak said dramatically, placing a hand on his chest. “I thought we had something special.”
Y/n rolled her eyes at his antics while she sat down opposite him, taking a large melon out of the basket and began cutting it into chunks.
“What should we do?” he chuckled, his hand waving over the basket before picking up a Yovo.
“What do you usually do?” Y/n questioned.
“Hmm well, I was thinking about going for a swim. You can come with. Do you know how?”
“I swim,” y/n replied.
“But are you any good?”
“I won’t drown.”
“Good enough for me,” Lo’ak took a bite of the Yovo fruit and wiped his mouth with the back of his hand. “Well, I’m sure Kiri will swim with us. I can see if Ao’nung and Rotxo would be interested. Tsireya, maybe not, she has plans with some of her… Friends.”
“Friends?” Y/n picked up on how Lo’ak said the word with such disdain. “You don’t like these friends?”
“For the most part, they’re okay but there is one. His name’s K’aung, and he fishes with Ao’nung sometimes. He’s the worst. He used to bully Kiri a lot and now he follows Tsireya around, you’d think she has a second shadow. And I’m sure he watches my every move.”
“Maybe he’s in love with you? You and Tsireya aren’t together, he may think he has a chance.”
Lo’ak’s face screwed up in absolute disgust at the idea.
“How could you say something so disgusting? He makes me feel ill.”
Tumblr media
Just as Lo’ak planned during breakfast, the pair went swimming with Kiri, Ao’nung and Rotxo at midday. Kiri informed the group that Tuk wouldn't be joining them. They ran into Tsireya on their way to the ilu but as predicted, she was standing with other Metkayina teens, one boy staring Lo’ak down, y/n doing the same to him.
The ride away from the village went somewhat well. Ao’nung had been taking subtle jabs at y/n which did not go unnoticed by the girl, which led to her riding with him instead of Lo’ak which was the original plan.
“Y/n. Do you know how to swim?”
“I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t.”
That seemed to be enough for Ao’nung because, in a split second, he spun around and pushed y/n off of his ilu with a smug smile on his face, which didn’t last long as y/n hand grabbed his bicep, dragging him down with her.
As the two resurfaced, y/n hit Ao’nung’s forehead muttering ‘skxawng’ under her breath before swimming to the closest rock formation with Lo’ak, Kiri and Rotxo following close behind her. Ao’nung rolled his eyes before joining the others. The group settled on the rock in a circle, y/n sat between Rotxo and Lo’ak, opposite Ao’nung.
“So, y/n, tell us about yourself. You have four fingers like these two.” Rotxo motioned to the Sully siblings, “Are your parents or were your parents, sky people too?”
“Sky people? No, a lot of my people have four fingers.”
“How?” Kiri questioned, eyes full of wonder.
“I’m not sure. My grandmother told me that this trait started to appear when she was a child, some think it was before that.” Y/n looked down at her hands and shrugged, “some think it is a punishment from Eywa, while some think it's a gift.”
“What do you think?” Lo’ak questioned, his voice sounding tense
“I haven't really thought about it, my uncle and younger brother are the same so it’s what I am used to.”
“Do you know why?” Ao’nung questioned, seemingly interested in the topic.
“Apparently, Sky people came to our shores in need of help. The old Olo'eyktans allowed them to stay on the smaller islands, in agreement that they wouldn’t interfere with the clans and in return, they were given food supplies and different resources to survive. But then, they started sneaking onto the large islands and into villages, stealing from us. When they were given a warning, they went against it and started using violence. It led to great battles, many islands were scorched, and the Olo'eyktans vowed there would be no survivors. But, there were sky people who didn’t participate in the battles. They lived amongst my people, helping build huts and weapons until they died. Their bodies burned and their ashes were buried beneath the spirit tree. A generation later, children were being born with four fingers and four toes.”
The group around y/n sat in silence taking in what they had heard. Out of all of them, Kiri seemed to be the most invested in the story. The idea of sky people existing on Pandora before her parents was fascinating.
“And… And do you believe that?” Kiri questioned in disbelief and amazement.
“I’m sure there's some truth to it,” y/n started looking at the group around her, shrugging. “You never know.”
There was a moment of silence before Ao’nung cleared his throat, his eyes shifting between y/n and Lo’ak.
“You two seem close, even though you’ve only known each other for what? A week? You eat together every morning, Lo’ak comes back with nothing but good things to say. Are you two,” he waved his hands between the two in front of him “a couple?” His tone was accusatory.
“It’s not hard to make friends, you know. You should try it.” Lo’ak shot back rolling his eyes, “and y/n isn’t my type. A bit too tall and a bit old for me.”
Y/n nudged Lo’ak slightly, smiling at the memory of the conversation they had that morning.
“How old are you?” Rotxo questioned innocently.
“Eighteen.”
“Perfect for you, Ao’nung.”
“Shut it.” Ao’nung snapped back, a grimace on his face.
“You don’t have a chance bro,” Lo’ak added
“I said, shut up.”
Kiri rolled her eyes at the boys’ antics while offering y/n a smile which was returned.
Tumblr media
The group finally settled down on the rocks, some lying down enjoying the peaceful atmosphere, until Lo’ak scrambled to his feet, hitting Kiri in the process.
“Hey! Watch it!” She screamed, swatting a hand at him but Lo’ak took no notice of it as he walked to the edge of the rock before diving over the edge. Y/n sat up as soon as the boy disappeared from her sight. No one seemed to be concerned. She walked to the edge of the rocks and looking down, she saw Lo’ak frantically moving his hands while perched on the edge of a tulkun fin. A tulkun, the only tulkun, she was familiar with.
Payakan.
Payakan’s large eye looked away from Lo’ak and up at y/n, making a sound that sounded similar to a greeting.
“You know each other?”
“Kind of. Payakan spent a lot of time on our shores but then he just left. Nice to see he’s being taken care of over here.”
Y/n eased herself into the water, swimming over to the tulkun and pulled herself up to sit next to Lo’ak.
“The last time I heard anything about him, my brother was telling me that sky people were hunting him.”
At this omission, Payakan dropped his fin slightly, causing y/n and Lo’ak to be dunked into the water briefly.
“Sorry! Sorry!” Y/n coughed, “but that’s what I heard.”
Payakan made a clicking noise and looked away.
“You know about that?” Lo’ak questioned raising an eyebrow.
“Of course, a watcher from my village relaid the information and my brother told me.”
“A watcher? What do they do?”
“Watch? It’s in the name. They survey the skies, above the clouds and report back what they see.”
“What more did they say? What more do you know?”
Y/n paused to think, what more did she know? Her mind darted back to her dream behind the waterfall. It had been a recurring dream, but the ending was still the same.
“Nothing really. A huge fire. Some things washed up on our shores.”
“Right.” Lo’ak nodded. He didn’t look like he was convinced by y/n’s answer but accepted it anyway. He then turned back to Payakan, moving his hands before pointing at y/n.
“What are you saying?”
“Asking if he saw you did anything embarrassing as a child that I could use against you sometime.”
“Oh stop it.” Y/n laughed, putting her hand on the back of Lo’ak’s head, the action making the younger boy freeze at the familiar gesture
“Can I ask you something?” He questioned suddenly, his eyes almost pleading. The older girl nodded, giving him her full attention. This is something he had been curious about, he had heard the other villagers talk about it, trying to come up with their own conclusions. “What made you come here? I know there was a storm and everything but was coming here planned?”
“No,” the older girl responded without any hesitation, “I can’t say being a guest on these islands was a part of my plan.”
“So, why did you leave your people?”
“My father ordered it. I wasn't going to say no, it is my duty I guess.”
“Your father is Olo’eyktan? My dad was… Once. He gave that up to move here. Sometimes I wish he didn’t. I wish we didn’t leave the forest.” Lo’ak’s ears drooped at the thought of his home, his grandmother, his friends… Spider. Payakan made a noise that caused Lo’ak to perk up slightly, “but of course, coming here has been great. I just miss home.”
“You know you can always go back,” y/n started, “you don’t have to be here for the rest of your life.”
Lo’ak paused at her words, he had thought this too. He could not see himself staying in the village forever, he is a forest Na’vi after all, but he had begun to build a life here, the whole family has. He couldn’t leave. His family was here, his whole family. Sully’s stick together and no one can be left behind.
“Wait, we’re off topic. Why did your father order you to leave your people?”
“I was sent to look for someone. Well, two someone’s actually. They had been under close watch for two years, my father instructed that no one was to interact with them, without his permission and with good reason. Before I came, they managed to escape, people were hurt. From what I gathered from my dad. They’re dangerous. They do not have good intentions. So they’re to be found and brought back and then maybe they can be dealt with like how my father intended without the input of others trying to ‘keep the peace’.”
No, it can’t be. Lo’ak face filled with panic and his breath hitched.
“Do you… Do you know their names?” he questioned, hands curling into fists in his lap
Miles Quaritch. Lyle Wainfleet.
“I can’t say I remember.” She lied looking past Lo’ak, hoping he did not detect any hesitation, “Payakan, my old friend. If it’s not too much to ask, will you be able to pass a message on to my brother that I’m okay?” She asked with a smile, Lo’ak’s eyes on her.
“Your brother?”
“He has a specific spot, his thinking rock, Payakan knows it. He’ll pass on the message to my parents.”
The tulkun made a noise of agreement, before slowly lowering his fin, easing the Na’vi into the water before bidding the two goodbyes and swimming off.
“Why did he listen to you? He’s my spirit brother.”
“I’ve known him longer.”
Lo’ak rolled his eyes and splashed water in the older girl's direction.
Tumblr media
Tuk skipped through the forest ahead of her parents, her fingers brushing against loose vines hanging beside her. Today, she was going to tend to the ikran while Lo’ak and Kiri were away. This is something she enjoyed, the forest here wasn’t the same, it wasn’t as dense or filled with the same creatures but it was pretty, it reminded her of home.
Tuk’s skip turned into a jog as the greenery became more sparse and more light flooded in.
“Tuk. Slow down please.” Her mother called
“Yes, mum!” She replied, with no change in pace.
As she broke through the remaining trees, a grin appeared on her face at the familiar sight of her family’s ikran. The biggest reason why she enjoyed looking after them was that she wasn’t sure if she would ever be able to have one of her own, so looking after them was the closest she could get.
Hearing her parents appear behind her, she started to move forward, greeting all the ikran individually as she made a beeline to the back of the nesting area the ikran’s made for themselves, looking for the ikran without a rider. Getting closer, she noticed the nest was empty.
Tuk spun around, looking at all the ikran, thinking she overlooked her favourite. But she could never. So she counted again and again.
One. Two. Three. Four… Where’s five?
In a panic, she ran forward, running into her father who was tending to Bob.
“He’s gone!” She shrieked, grabbing her father’s hand, “Seze’s gone!”
Jake looked down at his youngest daughter in confusion, gone? What does she mean by ‘gone’? The ikran hasn’t ‘gone’ anywhere in two years without a lot of bribing. Jake looked past all the ikran to see that Seze was in fact ‘gone’. The urgency in Tuk’s voice caught Neytiri’s attention. She passed her mate and daughter to go to Seze's nest, bending down and placing her hand on it. Maybe there will be some heat that’ll indicate how long he had been gone. With some relief, there was. It was still quite warm which told her they had just missed the creature’s take-off.
Just as she stood up, ready to join her family and calm her daughter, a rumble resonated through the air. It was a similar sound the whole village had heard over a week ago, Tuk was the first to run towards the sound, shaking out of fathers grasp. Without hesitation, he chased after her. Neytiri looked over the other ikran one last time before following.
Making it to the beach, the family was met with a sight they could never imagine. Seze, Neteyam’s lonely ikran, named after Neytiri’s companion who she lost in the war with the sky people, face to face with Rìkxi. Barely any space between them. The latter watched the ikran with fury in its eyes. Seze did not look nervous in the slightest, seeming to be standing his ground against the beast that was more than double his size and much, much stronger than him.
Rìkxi made a sound that sounded like he was taking a massive inhale of breath, his head lifting slightly. His mouth began to open, a rumble omitting from his chest.
“Enough!” A strong, unwavering voice echoed through the gathering crowd
In a flash, the Ash Na’vi their son had become fast friends with, stood between the two creatures confidently, holding her hand up to Rìkxi’s face. Rìkxi gave what seemed to be a final look at the ikran before obeying his rider’s silent command.
Tumblr media
Y/n stood between her faithful companion and the unknown ikran, hands raised to show that there was no threat. The last thing she wanted was for Rìkxi to eat the poor creature. Rìkxi looked at the scene in front of him before lowering his head and shuffling back slightly. The ikran behind her nudged its head forward, knocking y/n’s back. The girl turned around to face the ikran, looking curiously as it nudged her again.
Not sure what to do, she looked off to the side where Lo’ak and Kiri had joined the group but kept a distance due to Rìkxi’s presence. Seeing that she wasn’t going to get any assistance, she tried shooing the creature away calmly but it didn’t budge. She looked at Rìkxi over her shoulder and jerked her head slightly up, telling him to return to his part of the island. With a huff, the large beast flapped his wings once, shooting off into the air, unsettling all the sand around them causing those closest to cover their eyes while y/n knew that this action was deliberate.
As Rìkxi left, an older Omatikaya man came forward, his hand holding a smaller child on his left and a woman on his right. Lo’ak and Kiri catching up behind them. The woman touched the ikran’s head, pulling its attention away from y/n, which the girl was very grateful for because was starting to feel uneasy.
The woman stroked the creature's face, before shooing it away. It made a small sound before taking off into the air. Neytiri turned, looking the girl up and down, her yellow eyes studying the girl before her for any signs of danger that could injure her family in any way. Lo’ak stood next to y/n, a smile on his face trying to ease any tension that he sensed.
“Y/n, this is my mother Neytiri and my father Jake Sully. Mum, Dad, this is my new best friend y/n.”
“Nice to meet you, y/n. Lo’ak speaks very highly of you.” Neytiri greeted the girl after a moment's pause.
Lo’ak face seemed to flush a deep blue as his father nodded, also greeting the girl.
“Yes, it’s nice to meet the girl that has been keeping my son out of trouble.” Jake joked, raising an eyebrow at his son, asking him a silent question. Lo’ak’s head shook frantically from side to side.
Y/n ignored the silent exchange and greeted both parents. Tuk looked up at the girl curiously before introducing herself.
“Hello! I’m Tuk! Your hair is really pretty.”
“It is lovely to meet you Tuk and yours is too!” Y/n smiled motioning to the white beads at the end of the young girl’s shoulder-length hair.
Looking over the youngest Sully’s head, y/n spotted Ronal in the distance. The Tsahik had spotted her and was making her way over, like a predator stalking her prey. Y/n flicked her wrist, her fingers brushing Lo’ak’s arm, the boy looked at her in confusion before following her line of sight.
“I should go and check on Rìkxi, make sure he hasn’t threatened anyone else.” She joked, itching to break away from the family as Ronal got closer.
“Right, yes. We don’t want that.” Lo’ak added stiffly.
The girl rolled her eyes, bidding farewell to the family as she walked off hastily towards where Rìkxi should’ve hopefully settled. Just as she disappeared from everyone’s sight, Ronal joined the family, a hand on her hip.
“She’s fast.” The Tsahik commented, “Lo’ak, I will be eating breakfast with her tomorrow morning.”
Before Lo’ak could think of a reply, she walked off to join her mate, Tsireya and their youngest daughter.
The Sully’s made their way back to the marui in mostly silence.
Jake and Neytiri walked in silence and they thought about what they had just witnessed. An ikran greeting another Na’vi it was not familiar with, willingly and refusing to leave?
The sight of the Ash Na’vi girl had taken Neytiri by surprise, there was an air of familiarity about her. Maybe it was the way that she walked, the way she spoke? She wasn’t sure, she couldn’t place it but whatever it was caused her heart to burn with longing. The girl reminded her of someone that was lost.
Jake had seen it almost immediately. Lo’ak had formed a close connection with the older girl, even if he hadn’t noticed it himself, Lo’ak looks up to her. Trusted her. There had been something missing in Lo’ak for a long time and y/n had come along and given him what he needed. Guidance, a support system. Seeing his son in this light had taken a weight off of his shoulders but then that brought on a new thought. Y/n wasn't going to stay here forever and what would that mean for Lo’ak?
Lo’ak head rushed with multiple thoughts at once, y/n’s brief explanation while with Payakan, although he knew that she was withholding some truth from him, he couldn’t find it within himself to feel suspicious of her. And also Neteyam’s ikran. Seze had kept to himself for two years, clearly mourning the loss of his rider but today showed something different. Was this linked to what Neteyam’s spirit meant?
Kiri on the other hand was silent because she was trying to figure this out, she felt as though Eywa was whispering in her ear. She has a feeling that y/n will be important to the family, it can’t just be a coincidence that y/n appeared on Awa’atlu just days after Lo’ak’s experience at the Spirit Tree and them suddenly becoming the best of friends, the pair also sharing similar physical attributes. Four fingers, four toes and although it is not as noticeable, Kiri could see the faint hairs on the older girl's brow bone. It seemed that y/n had stepped in to be an older sister to Lo’ak, taking him under her wing.
Tuk was the only member of the Sully family who was actively talking, some of the members chiming in every once in a while to let her know she was listening. She could sense that everyone was deep in thought but she was just glad that Seze was safe and that she met Lo’ak new friend.
Overall, the whole family had taken notice of Lo’ak’s attitude change. In the week of knowing y/n, parts of his carefree personality had begun to shine through again and it was refreshing to see.
Kiri stopped in her tracks, clearing her throat to get her family’s attention.
"I just remembered I have to do something, I'll be back soon."
Before anyone could respond, Kiri turned and started to walk in the direction they just came from, as soon as she got to the beach, her walk turned into a jog and that jog into a run.
Tumblr media
On her walk over to Rìkxi, y/n was deep in thought. Jake Sully. The man Quaritch had asked … demanded … her father to help him capture so that he could “answer for his crimes.” y/n felt so stupid, why didn’t she put it together sooner “he is hiding amongst the reef people''. Lo'ak had mentioned briefly that his dad was from the stars. Maybe she did know that Jake Sully was here but was choosing to ignore it since she hadn't seen the man in person until today. Out of sight, out of mind maybe?
Suddenly, a shooting pain hit y/n in her chest which caused her to stagger back, almost losing her balance. She quickly composed herself, trying to ignore it so that she could continue her journey but with every step, it became harder to ignore.
Y/n quickened her pace, hoping to reach her destination soon but that plan was thrown to the back of her mind as she stopped abruptly, now feeling lightheaded. She squeezed her eyes closed tightly, clutching her chest while taking a deep breath. Opening her eyes slightly, she could see a few stray villagers staring at her as they passed, keeping a distance but she didn’t expect anyone to help.
The pain was getting more intense, her vision blurring and the sound of her heart pulsating in her ears. She tried walking again but she could tell that she was staggering off to the side. Taking another deep breath, took a deep breath and clenched her jaw and began walking again. After a few more steps, her knees buckled, bringing her down into a squat, her chin tucked to her chest as tears began welling in her eyes. The burning was now unbearable. She felt like she was choking, drowning almost. She was struggling to breathe, it was like her lungs weren’t working. Every breath she tried to take was painful.
She wheezed, rocking forward, her knees hitting the warm sand, the hand not holding her chest reaching out so she didn't faceplant. It was too much. She couldn’t even think. Y/n eyes screwed shut again, her mouth opening to scream for help but no sound other than a whimper came out. Her fingers and toes started to feel cold.
The villagers around her decided to take full notice of the scene before them, but they hesitated with the idea of helping the foreign girl. At the same moment, Kiri came speeding into view. Her eyes widened at the sight of her new friend on the floor and worried villagers gathering, not sure how to react.
“Y/n!” Kiri dashed forward, skidding to a stop next to her friend, “What’s wrong?! What happened?!”
Y/n tried to reply to Kirk’s frantic questions but all she could do was shake her head, she couldn’t bring herself to speak. She could barely hear the girl beside her.Her head was pounding. She was seeing flashes of the ocean being lit up by the bioluminescent plants, beside her, an Omatikaya Na'vi breaking the surface of the water with a grin on his face. Lo'ak? No, not Lo'ak. What the hell is happening?
Kiri looked around at the spectators, feeling annoyed that not one of them stepped forward to help her friend. Giving them the fiercest glare she could muster, Kiri tried getting down to y/n’s height, and lowering herself so that she could see her face. Kiri took note of the hand painfully gripping her chest. Had she been in pain all day and no one noticed?
“Clear the way!” Ronal’s voice boomed as she and Tonowari marched toward the small group.
Kiri scrambled out of the way as Ronal dropped down beside her, pulling y/n’s hand away from her chest.
“Get her up, I will treat her.”
Tonowari nodded at his mate, scooping y/n into his arms, the girl in question trying to resist but ultimately giving up once pain shot from her chest down to her feet. Kiri followed trying to speak to the now quiet girl. Tonowari apologised with almost every step he took and Ronal ahead, trying to conclude how she was going to ease this pain. Y/n head slightly rolled to the side as she looked out to the ocean, Kiri noticing her eyes focusing in the direction of the Cove of the Ancestors.
Tumblr media
As the sun was beginning to set, an avatar hopped across the beanstalk, hoping to make it to the other side without falling to his death. The sights of Pandora were absolutely breathtaking, he was used to seeing them but now, in his new body, everything seemed more amazing. The sights, the sounds, the smells. All the spectacular.
“Kid, you need to come back, you’ll miss dinner.” The earpiece crackled
The avatar rolled his eyes, looking around him, placing his finger on the microphone around his throat.
“Yes Dad, on my way.” He replied in a mocking tone, “I’ll be like 10 minutes, tops.”
“You better, or I’ll have to send someone out for you. Again.”
The avatar continued on his jog before he started to scale the many intertwined vines. This would be so much easier with an ikran, he thought but it was still early days. Reaching the top, he leaped across more branches before running through the camp, doing his best to weave between the different humans and Na’vi moving around.
“Seriously again? Watch it!”
“Sorry, Vic!” He called back, almost running into someone else.
The avatar swung the door open to the laboratory and ducked his head to get through the door, and skidded to a stop.
“Right on time.” Norm stated, looking up from his desk at the young avatar, “Go unlink, I’ll plate you some food.”
The boy walked into an empty room and lay down on a large cot. Out of the corner of his eye, he could see Norm’s avatar ‘asleep’, hooked up to a machine to keep it hydrated and nourished. The boy shuffled his body, getting comfortable and closing his eyes.
The lid of the link unit opened slowly, the young boy sat up and swung his legs over the edge, stretching his arms.
“Victoria said you ran into her… Again. It’s starting to seem like it’s on purpose.” An older man spoke, eyes not looking away from the screen in front of him.
“It’s not, I swear. I’m having trouble stopping and she always seemed to be there.”
“You need to be more careful Spider. I know you're learning but you need to be mindful about those around you.”
“I know Max, I know. I’ll do better next time, I promise.” Spider replied somewhat sincerely. He was trying to be careful but he also did run into Victoria on purpose.
Max nodded looking back at the screen to check if there were any outliers on Spider’s readings. Seeing that everything was normal enough, he ushered the boy off of the link bed and into the communal eating area where a few of the humans were sitting around talking. The boy spotted Norm at the far end, speaking to another scientist.
Sitting down next to him, he began to eat silently, running through the forest all day has built a big appetite that he still wasn’t used to.
“So, how was it today?” Norm questioned as the other scientist left the table.
“Amazing!” Spider swallowed quickly, turning to face the older man, “I managed to run without smashing my face into the floor.”
“Good. That’s good. You’re getting better. But it’s still early days, don’t push yourself.”
“I know, I know. I’m being as careful as possible.”
“So, when are you gonna tell Kiri and Lo’ak about your avatar?”
“I don’t know, I haven’t found the right time.”
“You spoke with Kiri yesterday, right? Why didn’t you tell her then?” Norm questioned, raising the fork to his mouth.
“It didn’t feel right,” Spider shrugged, “she was talking about a new friend Lo’ak had made, I didn’t want to interrupt.”
“Lo’ak made a friend? Good for him, he had been quite down when I last spoke to Jake.” Max added as he sat down in front of Norm, “Jake had been really worried for him, breaking up with Tsireya hit him hard.”
Spider’s head dropped, he didn’t know that Lo’ak wasn’t dating the Metkayina girl anymore. If he was being honest, he didn’t have any idea about how Lo’ak had been doing for about eight months now. The pair hadn’t spoken to one another and Kiri didn’t purposely bring him up in conversation. It made Spider feel guilty, he could tell there was a strain on their relationship but he was too afraid to face it, he was too guilty. Even speaking to Kiri hurt him, he couldn’t even bring himself to speak to Jake, for fear that he would spill his guts out to the man and the consequences.
It was killing him. He wouldn’t dare tell Norm or Max, they would tell the Sully’s in an instant and he is sure that Neytiri would have his head. Not that Spider could blame her. He wasn’t thinking about the consequences at the time but as the days passed on the island, the guilt was eating him alive and the fear was keeping him silent.
“What do you think, Spider?” Norm questioned, nudging the boy out of his thoughts.
“What?”
“I said, we should try and arrange for you to visit Awa’atlu. You haven’t seen them in person in ages and it’ll be better this time because you have an avatar.” Max explained, a gentle smile resting on his lips, “and honestly, I could use the quiet.” He joked
Spider forced out a chuckle, shovelling a forkful of food into his mouth, running through all the possible outcomes that could happen, being face-to-face with the family he betrayed.

As the sun set and eclipse made itself known, a small group of Txampaysye swam passed through the Cove of the Ancestors and along the base of The Spirit Tree. One broke away from its group and glided off to the left, joining a shimming group of Atokirina’ that was floating peacefully above a glowing mass amongst the swaying plants on the seafloor.
Slowly, the plants separated, allowing the Txampaysye to lower itself down, resting itself across the widest part of the unknown figure. A moment later, air bubbles began to float upwards. The Atokirina’ floated down and landed on a small part of the figure, and as soon as it did that, the unknown shape flinched before curling into a ball. Slowly, the plants on the seafloor made their way back to each other, hiding the mass from any creature that may swim passed.
Tumblr media
Txampaysye - gill mantle, serves as a biological diving suit, feeding oxygen to a bonded Na'vi through their kuru connection/tsaheylu.
Atokirina' - woodsprite, a seed of the Tree of Souls that lives on Pandora (I imagine the Spirit Tree has its own version).

Hey I really enjoyed the Kiri x twin sister reader, and I was wondering if I could request one where she takes you to get an Ikran and like Kiri you just walk up and befriend it. And then you and her fly for the rest of the afternoon before going to the place where you can feel Eywa the strongest and you both lay there together talking before you head back home and you and her sleep on the same bed and cuddle.

You were of age in Jake’s eyes to go through the passage of ikran maktoyu. It’s what Grace would have wanted, and dang it if you didn't work your butt of to prove yourself you know now you are worthy.
Every scrape, bruise, scar, cut. In your eyes you were a warrior.
And as you climb with your family behind you up the hallelujah mountains. A part of you hurts. You linger for a moment, ignoring your brothers who have made it a competition between the two to see who could make it to the top the first, and take in the beauty.
Mom should be here to watch you, to hear your stories, for you to show her your ikran. She should be climbing beside you now watching this sight, rambling about her samples and needing pictures for her "research" when deep down you know she's just a softy from the collection of pictures she hid away for you in your camper. But with your sister by your side, she soothes the dull ache as you squeeze through the tight crevices of the floating rocks,.
The mist from the falling waters cools your cheek and your breaths echo off the walls as you shuffle along the thin edge till you hear their loud cries and screeches. Then the light is blinding your eyes.
Ikrans fly past you with mighty wings that knock you back into the floating rocks. Some hiss at you and you jump back into Kiri who presses her hands onto your shoulders.
“Breathe, remember” she whispers as she steadies you, “you’ll know it here, if it is your ikran” her hand slides to press into your heaving chest. Your hands pull and wring at the dainty rope you brought.
“And if you're not ready baby, we can do this another time” Jake now steps forward meeting you at eye level. But from the narrowness of your eyes and the way your ears flick back, he knows you are more than ready. So he nods at you and steps back with the family.
You remember how Neytiri knelt before you that morning, held your jaw and reminded you of the bravery you and your mother harbored. In her eyes, you were more than ready.
And so you turn and take the first step forward. The ikrans watch you, some hissing and flying back when you jump at them. You hiss back as well, flashing your own fangs as you bare them. But none dare to challenge you.
This goes on for some time till you see it, see her. She steps forward amongst the others. She’s painted in splashes of gold and orange. Her eyes size you up. And while you hiss at her and crouch low. She does not.
She stops till she is right at you. And your sister watches in awe as you drop the rope and stretch your hand. She presses it into your hand, her eyes and your own close. You pull your kuru over your shoulder making the bond and your eyes widen as you feel her and she feels you. You feel her heart beating against the chest.  How strong her wings are.
“Damn, she did better than you huh” Lo’ak chortle as he elbows his brother who hisses at his little brother.
“Y/N” Kiri shouts yelping along with your family in celebration as you mount your ikran with ease. You dive off of the cliff soaring among the sky and a shout spills from your lips as you fly high and dive low.
You hear a yelp next to you and Kiri has joined you now. And the two of you fly together. It feels like hours, like you have seen every inch of the beauty of the forest from a new point of view.
At some point the boys join the two of you, and your ace. Netayem wins but you come in second which is better than losing to Lo’ak who swear the two of you  have cheated. The sun has begun to set at some point and Netayem calls for your attention.
“Don’t be late tonight you two!”
“Yeah you know how mom gets when the two of you come back late!” Lo’ak chides and the two of you roll your eyes but agree to come back somewhat on time tonight. Once they are gone you and Kiri land among the forest. It’s second nature and your feet immediately know where the two of you are going.
Your place, your spot, Your second home.
Here you fall to the ground in a fit of giggles. And the grass around you puffs as if the mother is basking in your joy as well.
“Look at my sister! The mighty ikran tamer” she growls playfully dancing her hands across your ribs sending you into a fit of giggles. Kiri negins to run her hands through the free parts of your hair.
"Hardly, had she jumped at me I'm sure we wouldn't be here right you" you huff.
"At least you get bragging rights, it took Lo'ak forever because he's as stubborn headed as his own." You two giggle at the memory of your brother tossing and turning with his own ikran even after boding with it
A calm silence surrounds you both as Kiri continues to comb through your hair. It's enough to make your lids feel so heavy that they slowly fall shut. But just as your breathing slows down Kiri shakes you gently.
“We gotta go home, come on up at em’”
“Nooooo” you whine as you pull you up, but you let her pull you back to your ikrans and the flight home is quicker than having to run by foot. With sleepy hands you pick at the food Neytiri has made.
“Ahh look at the mighty warrior Y/N”! And you roll your eyes at your brothers as you continue to eat.
“Mhm! Watch out pops, I'm coming for the title of Toruk Makto”
“If she becomes Makto, we’re all doomed” and you flick a piece of food at your brother who sends one back before Neytiri is pinching both your ears.
Dinner is filled with more laughs and playful banter before everyone goes off to sleep. And as you all pile up, Kiri pulls you close, your eyes droop as her hands massage your scalp.
You wonder if this peace will last forever, you hope it does.

Chapter 1 : is this what growing up is? just leaving things behind, over and over?
⤑ ⤑ ⤑ ⤑
Jake dodges an arrow that misses his ear by just an inch and curses under his breath. He tightens his grip on the reins of his ikran and looks back at the approaching enemies. Hot on their heels are the Na'vis from the ash clan, riding animals that Jake has always thought look similar to earth's iguanas - just bigger, faster, and with an additional set of eyes.
"Fnawe'tu!" one ash Na'vi calls out. "Toruk Makto has no honor!" he roars, holding up his spear as his teammates fire arrows at the Sully family, nearly knocking Kiri and Tuk off their banshee. Jake, on the other hand, turns his upper body around, gun in one hand as the other one takes out ammunition from his side pouch. He shoves it into the bolt before locking in the belt, making sure it's securely closed. His finger is positioned above the trigger as he takes a quick glance at his family before aiming at the Na'vi below. He tightens his grip on the trigger, and the machine gun roars to life, firing off rounds at a blistering pace and hitting some of their pursuers in the back.
Simultaneously, with clenched teeth, Kiri grips the reins tighter as she holds Tuk closer to her, while her ikran dodges more arrows. "Turn!" She shouts, patting the neck of her companion. Tuk, who is still clinging onto Kiri, squints her eyes and shoots glares at the Na'vis below them.
There is a sharp resonance that Lo'ak feels through the tsaheylu, his Ikran is shuddering beneath him. He looks down to see arrows protruding from its wing and hears in the background the panicked screech of the creature. His shout rips everyone out of concentration, heads whipping towards him, seeing him trying to balance himself on the ikran while it writhes in pain before starting its wobbly descent towards the ground.
"Lo'ak!" Neytiri screams and leans forward, chasing after her son while her arm tightens around her oldest son's waist. Neteyam's head is lolling forward, hair whipping in the wind, his eyes heavily lidded. He is barely aware of his surroundings, and he feels like his soul is being pulled out of his body. He fights to stay conscious and grabs his mother's hand weakly, tucking his head lower as the Ikran dips.
Lo'ak, on the other hand, holds onto the reins for dear life, curses leaving his mouth as he ducks his head downwards, trying to evade the headwind pressure and at the same time, also the arrows that are flying his way. He tries to steer his Ikran to the other side while also trying to reassure it, but it is no use. The arrows have injured it badly. His stomach lurches as his spiral downwards accelerates, and he struggles not to fall off.
The Ikran's feet touch the ground, and it comes to a stuttering halt before abruptly stopping and throwing Lo’ak off. He feels the rush of air as he falls through it, twisting and turning.
He tries to remember the steps his dad taught him on how to fall correctly to lessen the impact, but to no avail. Neither time nor memory can help him before he lands heavily on the ground. A jolt of pain shoots through his body, and the air leaves his lungs. He lies there for a moment, heaving and gasping, the sound of his heart thrashing in his ears. He then tries to regain his bearings, yet all he can feel is how every muscle in his body protests and aches.
Their pursuers quickly have him surrounded; their deadly bows are raised to kill. Shouts pierce above his aching head as one of them steps closer. The Ash Na'vi holds the spear firmly in his hand; his hair is tucked away securely behind his head, and a feral snarl is etched into his face. His dull skin is lighter, almost blinding, in the harsh, late afternoon sunlight of the open plains. The Na'vi pulls up his spear, winding it up for an attack, when a sudden gunshot brings him to his knees. Dust and dirt fly up in the air, choking both Lo'ak and his assailant. Lo'ak grits his teeth, squashing a pained groan, and scrambles to get up. With trembling legs, his hand reaches for the long knife that is securely hanging on his waist.
Neytiri reaches him, her arms crowding him behind her, shielding him from view. Ready to be attacked, ears flickering in all directions, but the attack never comes. Before anyone can react, a spear impales the injured Na'vi right through his chest, making him cry out in pain. Before being yanked out in one swift motion and thrown at another Na'vi.
"Set hivum," the newcomer hisses at them, his eyes narrowed. He's neither an ash Na'vi nor an Omaticaya.
"This is not your fight," one of their pursuers retorts, blocking the stranger's incoming attack with his own spear, not caring that one of his own has fallen.
"Kiantu," their rescuer says, reaching into his pouch that's hanging on the belt around his hips, and throwing some sort of red dust at the ash Na'vi. "Does your chieftain know that you're breaching the pact?" Their assailant is momentarily blinded, eyes watering as he lets out a pained howl.
"Kiri!" Jake screams, jerking his head backwards at her, pointing the gun at the lighter colored warriors. Kiri nimbly jumps out of sight , her sister pressed against her back and hides right behind her father, back-to-back, looking for any stray attacks coming their way.
The foreign group joins, closing in on the Ash Na'vi's, their spears pointing at them. The intimidation seems to work as the leader of the group lowers his hand, ears pinned back, and slowly backs off. Growls and shouts escape multiple individuals as they retreat, jumping onto their rides. Jake lowers the gun and closes his eyes for a second before opening them wide and looking around the bloody battlefield, finding spears alongside with bodies littered all around. Neytiri and Lo'ak both swarm around him and the two girls, worried expressions on their faces. The mother focuses on their daughters to see if they sustained any injuries while the father looks over their son. "Are you okay?" he asks, gently but firmly grasping his son's shoulder.
"Yeah," Lo'ak nods, unable to stop a wince from clawing its way out of his throat, under his father's watchful gaze. "I'll survive," he continues, gripping his wrist self-consciously. "I'm more worried about Neteyam." He glances over to his mother's shoulder.
"He'll be okay," Jake answers, squeezing his shoulder harder, but not enough to hurt. "The people we're going to are known for their healing." He jerks his head forward. "Speaking of--" he says, facing the Na'vis that came to their rescue.
"Oel ngati kameie, ulte ngaru seiyi irayo," he says.
The other Na'vis bow their head just as low, pulling their hand away from their forehead towards their navel.
"Oel ngati kameie," replies the Na'vi who had rescued Lo'ak, his shoulder-length braids falling into his face. Now that the chaos has finally subsided, the Sully's finally get a good look at the strangers.
The grassland Na'vi and their muscular physique are an imposing sight to behold. In contrast to their surroundings, they stand out. Their skin is a rich, deep blue tone that seems to absorb the harsh sun's rays. Unlike their forest-dwelling counterparts, the grassland Na'vis have broader shoulders, longer legs, and a thick, round tail that swishes behind them with a sense of impatience. As they move, their dark stripes draw attention to the intricate patterns that adorn their bodies along the bioluminescent freckles.
Their garbs differ greatly from theirs, as they are decorated with leather and feathers that remind Jake of stalks of wheat from Earth. They wear decorative headpieces crafted from various animal bones that form a halo around their head. The dark loin cloths are embellished with additional leather and detailed patterns on the edges, tied in a unique manner.
"Rììama Pìhä Ìkawt'itan," the darker Na'vi introduces himself.
"Jake Sully," he turns towards his wife. "And this is my family." Tuk hides herself behind Kiri as she and Lo'ak return the gesture.
"Toruk Makto," Rììama nods thoughtfully. "I recognize you. I was there at the battle of home tree," he looks over. "Though, what are you doing here?"
"We're seeking Uturu," Neytiri pipes up, adjusting Neteyam's position on her back so that his head can lean on her shoulder.
The taller Na'vi looks taken aback, and he glances over to his teammates. Some meet his gaze and shrug their shoulders, while the others converse with each other in hushed voices. The Mates exchange a nervous glance that gets interrupted by the leader who coughs into his fist. "Follow us," he gestures to the banshee's behind them. "We'll bring you to our Olo'eyktan. He'll decide what to do."
''We'll look after your ikran'' another Na'vi pipes up, waving the others over.
"Thank you," Jake sighs in relief and turns around, making eye contact with Lo'ak , a tight smile gracing his lips as he nods to follow him. The group scatters, and they all go to their banshees, checking to see if their luggage survived the battle and tightening anything that might have come loose. Jake sends Rììama a look before turning his head and letting out a short, drawn-out noise. The creatures perk up and launch themselves into the air, fighting against the wind until stabilizing at comfortable altitude.
Now that the situation has calmed down, they can enjoy the quietness of the vast plains. The grass underneath them shines in a golden color in the sun's light. The wind that is lightly blowing gives it movement like ripples on the surface of a river. In the distance, the stark contrast of dark gray belonging to the mountains splits the sky apart. On the lower part, dense lush trees are grouped together, their vivid colors in full display. The air is dry yet smells full of nature, and a tranquil atmosphere overtakes everyone. Maybe it's the exhaustion, or the relief of knowing that for now the worst is over. Or maybe even a mix of both, but they all can use a good night of sleep.
In sight comes a cluster of thick tree trunks bunched together. They form a circle that is held by a woven plate, on top of which are multiple round shaped buildings. On each side of the structures, bridges connect to each other. They can't tell what material it is exactly as they're too far away. Looking past the settlement, one will see other trees cluttered in a similar fashion, though they are spaced far and in between of each other.
That reminds Neytiri of how her old home tree looked like, right after the battle with the sky people. Bitterness wells up in her chest, and she focuses on something else, looking away out into the sky. Different call signs bouncing back from Rììama and the others rip them out of their daze, and they look downwards to find the party of Na'vis waving their arms around.
Jake replies with a shout of his own, and they slowly begin their descent downwards. With a soft thud, they reach the ground and hear a horn being blown. Its deep tone reverberates through the space, and they look towards the outpost. Taking a closer look, they see the village surrounded by tall wooden fences that are manned by guards holding long spears as they walk about. Alongside are long fire posts, and in front of them in the field, local fauna grazing.Instantaneously, Na’vis start streaming out of the settlement. Their curious gazes speak volumes, wondering what could have happened for the horn to be blown. Surrounding the Sully's, they chatter excitedly with tails raised in curiosity and agitation.
A girl closest to Kiri and Tuk waves her hand to get the younger girl's attention and stares at her eagerly. Unsure, Tuk glances at her older sister, who nods slightly back in encouragement. She turns around and shyly waves back. The darker girl beams at that, her teeth flashing as she tugs the loincloth of the older Na’vi next to her, who shushes her quietly and sends Kiri an apologetic look. To which the girl nods back with a stiff smile.
The masses part as the Olo’eyktan and the Tsahìk come forth, concern marring their faces. They wear elaborate apparel that consists of a shoulder plate woven together with intricate brown-green tone patterns of a sort of insignia. Long twists of hair are tied into a low ponytail, and over the male Na'vi's right arm is a band with different types of beads strung together, hanging over his muscles.
His mate has her hair tied up into a half bun, with the lower hair braided into two thick braids. Over her chest is a garment that is threaded together, similarly to her husband's. It is dyed in colors of brown and green with hints of yellow at the edges. At the bottom of it, attached with beads, are threads of blue fabric hanging. On her waist is a long loincloth that reaches her knees, with intricate flower designs.
"Oel ngati kameie Toruk Makto, long time no see," the chieftain starts, motioning with his hand from his forehead downwards toward his navel, his mate repeating the same gesture.
"It is indeed been a while, Ìutxa, Aìng. I wish we could reunite on better terms," Jake retorts and points with his flat-out open hand at his mate. Neytiri, occupied with holding her son, bows her head a little.
"What happened?" Ìutxa asks, crossing his arms over his chest, scrutinizing his own tribesmen who are quite literally still drenched in the aftermath of the battle.
"Ralke were attacking Toruk Makto and his family," Rììama answers, tilting his head towards Neytiri. "They also cross over to our territory," he finishes.
Another teammate shakes his head, locs flying in all directions. "A bloodthirsty bunch."
"Your son..?" pipes up a smooth voice, and all eyes turn towards Aìng.
Jake turns around. "He—" He stops, wracking his brain on how to explain everything that has been going on with Neteyam and them the last few days. "He has not been conscious." He balls his fist up in frustration, brows furrowed.
The Tsahik steps closer to Neytiri, the smell of something similar to wood and herbs engulfing her nose. At a closer distance, she notices the hint of purple in her eyes and skin color. Aìng lifts her hand up, wordlessly asking for permission. The lighter Na'vi nods her head, while the other then proceeds to carefully put her four-fingered hand on Neteyam's head. Lifting up one of the eyelids with the other, she closes it seconds later and puts two fingers on the junction point of his neck. Silently counting the heartbeats for a while. Clearly, she hears something worrying, and her pupils constrict when she looks over to Neytiri.
"Is that?"
With a voiceless, weary breath, The mother responds, "Yes."
"Come," Aìng beckons, turning around. "Follow me." She steps ahead, waving over another young Na'vi adult carrying a basket. The girl nods and joins the group. Passing her mate, Aìng sends him a worried glance, silently communicating that they’ll have to discuss this later in private. He blinks back in compliance.
As they walk through the settlement, Kiri is amazed by the colorful combination of materials that make up the village. She notes that the foundation is made of wood and the rooms are spacious. With walls made of thatched grass and roofs covered in woven  green yellow grass and a dark brown, insulating material.
Crossing a thatched bridge, they pass by a communal area with a huge fireplace in the middle and decorations on the walls, including various weapons and wooden masks with different emotions carved on them. Happiness, Anger, and Anguish. Kiri averts her eyes uncomfortably and looks to Lo’ak, who is still clutching his side with a grimace on his face.
"Will Neteyam be okay?" Tuk asks, gently holding one of Kiri’s braids.
The older sister half-heartedly pats her head. "Eywa wouldn't bring him back just for him to leave again."
"He has to," Lo’ak quips. If the sisters only listened to his voice, they might think he is in a stable mood, but his body language betrays him. His shoulders are tense, and his fingers trembles, which he tries to hide behind his back. Jake listens to the children's chatter while pressing his lips tightly together. Glancing over he sees Neytiri conversing with the darker Na’vi ,while their son's head bobs in the dips of her step.
The group comes to a halt in front of a cot on the upper left side of the communal area. Two fire posts and various baskets stand next to the entrance. Aìng enters the room first and heads to the back, with the Parents following closely behind. The room is bathed in red-brown tones, with the sun’s rays accentuating them even more. Various decorations, including beads stitched into a thin brown material imitating a landscape painting, hang on the walls. Pillows and blankets are stacked on the right side of the room, and little round-shaped carved shells filled with a thick golden paste with wicks in the middle lie on the floor. A small, thin wooden plate lies in the middle of the ground.
Tsahik gestures to Neytiri while she shoves the sparse furniture aside. The Omaticaya kneels down carefully, securing Neteyam's head and rolls him over her shoulder into her lap, before putting him onto the floor. Aìng’s assistant, kneels down next to her and starts unpacking the items from the basket, laying them down neatly and cleaning what looks like hair-thin stone sticks. The older Na’vi, meanwhile, lights brown, rolled medicinal leaves and holds them over a small mold, watching the ashes collect slowly.
"I'm Yiìru," the assistant introduces herself to Neytiri, who steps aside, making space for the other two. The younger girl rubs her hands in a ceremonial manner, blowing on them, and then slowly putting them onto the boy's back. Her eyes widen at the stiff touch, and she glances over to Aìng, who gauges her reaction and slowly nods. Yiìru takes her hands off, reaches over to take one of the needles into one hand, while the other stretches Neteyam's skin with her thumb and forefinger. Quickly she injects the needle with smooth motions, at a record speed, while the other puts the ashes in the in-between spaces of the sticks.
Neytiri kneels in the background, one arm wrapped around her legs while the other traces patterns on the floor. Kiri, Lo'ak, and Tuk wait outside the cot, talking to each other while the adults work in peace. Jake, on the other hand, is sorting out the luggage and placing them in different locations, needing his hands and mind to be occupied with something before he starts feeling even more like he's about to lose it.
A sudden, deep inhale has heads turning forward. Neteyam's formerly taut body has now relaxed quite a bit, his lungs expanding more than they did beforehand. Yiìru finishes taking out the last needle as the Tsahik wipes off the ashes. Neytiri stands up, her braids swinging in disarray as she walks over to the chieftain's mate, a questioning look in her eyes.
"He's past the point of danger," Aìng says seriously, glancing back at the parents. "He should be resting for the next few days; his spirit seems hit." She turns around, brow bone furrowed. "It almost feels like his body and spirit are disconnected."
Neytiri exchanges a look with Jake, who is still on the opposite side of her. Their eyes speak a thousand words left unsaid, and he slowly nods. She sighs, struggling to find words. "It's been a lot," she forces out,
The Tsahik nods compassionately, stands up, and points at the basket full of pouches. "There are different mixtures of medicine for him. Feed him this, that should help his stomach" she says, grabbing the younger girl. "This is my daughter; she’ll check on him tomorrow morning." She gives her child one last look before leaving the room.
"We’ll send someone for food later, alongside with his medicine," Yiìru says, holding her hands up to her chest.
"Thank you," Jake says, gratified, for what feels like the thousandth time today.
She answers with a beaming smile back before skipping towards  the entrance. "Oh-" she stops and turns her head around. "Tomorrow we'll also send a guide to show you around, though if by any chance you need help tonight, don't be afraid to ask around!’’
Lo’ak croaks out an acknowledgement, earning him a questionable look from Kiri as the trio enters the Cot. Looking around, they immediately zero in on their older brother as the parents join them in the circle.
"What do you guys think?" Jake asks, looking around. "It's not that bad."
The younger son's eyes widen for a second before furrowing his brows. "You said that about the other places as well, Dad."
"Well, I like it here," Tuk responds. "They have trees. It reminds me of home, better than the other place." The arid mountain lands of the ash people were something they all had trouble acclimating to. Unlike the jungle flora and the security of the trees, the cold walls of soft clay felt encapsulating and suffocating.
The group stills for a second, each lost in memory of their home. Despite the fact that it's been almost two years since they left, the yearning for the jungle and the familiarity of their home has never really faded.
Neytiri reaches over to her youngest daughter and squeezes her hand. "We'll adapt, that's what we’re good at, that's what we do.’’ A strained smile on her face.
"Your brother will have to rest for the next few days," Jake speaks up. "We'll try to change shifts so that there's always someone in rotation to look after him."
The children nod and scatter around the room, each going to their own little niche, unpacking their luggage. Calmness falls over the room, the teenagers bickering in the background, the youngest following the mother around while the father watches the family.
A horn blares, breaking the scene, and they all, except Neytiri, rear up and walk towards the entrance, through it over to the bridge. Jake heaves up Tuk to his hip. "Don't lean on the railing," he warns the other two, eyeing his most rebellious teenager. Earning a nod back, he returns to look out to the horizon. The suns are already in motion for the usual eclipse to happen, dying the sky in vivid colors of pink and orange. Clouds dot the sky like splotches of paint of a clumsy child.
‘’Huh’’?
"Hunters," Kiri interrupts her brother, leaning her head forward, noticing an adolescent Na'vi being surrounded by multiple adults. Their arms swing wildly, yet no one is touching them.
"Why did they blow the horn though?"
"I wonder," she counters, "I can't make out anything," she squints her eyes, "besides figures and meat".
"Kids!" Jake's call startles them, not even realizing that he had returned to their abode. "Come back in and help your sister out." The siblings steal one last glimpse at the field before turning around to look at each other, one with one eyebrow raised and pursed lips, and the other with furrowed brows.

"Was anyone injured?" Täyeprr, your best friend, asks, bouncing in place as her eyes roam your figure in concern.
"Tä'ui,'" you reply, jumping down from the dire horse. Taking off meat that's secured on the side of the steed, its blood splatters onto the floor and you wrinkle your nose in slight disgust at the sight.
"That skxawng," your friend curses, running her hand through her curls that bounce in all directions, framing her face. The late afternoon sun is catching its rays onto the necklace on her chest. A similar one dons your own neck that you made together when you were still little kids. Your parents, back then still alive, had to help you quite a bit in guiding you when it came to the needling of the thread and knotting multiple pretty stones onto it. You and Täyeprr had collected them together by one of the rivers. Once you finished, you jumped around in place, full of excitement before speeding off to go to your friend's cot.
"Oh," you intentionally stop her, knowing that if you let this girl continue to simmer in that state, she will not calm down for ages. "You finally finished that piece?" you ask, pointing with your forefinger towards the garment on her chest. Different types of fabric, cut into leaves and dyed in muted blue and purple, are stitched onto brown beads that circle from her neck down to the middle.
Täyeprr grins at that and grabs one of the leaves. "See, this is the one that's dyed with the fruit we found together last time," she abruptly stops, squinting her eyes at you for a long time. "Don't try to divert me from the topic," she says and points a finger at you.
You push out your elbows, sighing in clear defeat, "Not like she's the one who has her ears chewed off for almost an hour."
Your best friend scowls at you. "Well, it's not like she'll listen."
Feigning shock, you cock your head backward, eyes wide. "And you think I will? Tell me what good will this do besides conditioning me to hate her every time we cross paths?"
"Well, maybe she would listen to you."
"Please listen to yourself. You're not making sense," you retort, failing to hold back a laugh, shoulders shaking as you follow behind her.
The hunt went well until Tä'ui decided that she wanted to lean too far off the dire horse while being in a high-speed chase. That then had her tumbling off the steed in seconds, fortunately, only mere scratches on her elbows and back are the only things she got out of this. Though you got enough meat to last the community for four days, meaning you can spend the time in leisure and finish up your chores.
Tirelessly, you make a mental note that you need to weed out the garden again and see if the vegetables bear any harvest. Your best friend leaves you to join another group that is waiting nearby, and you wave her off. Lost in thought, you continue to walk up to the communal room located on the upper left side of the settlement. Walking past groups of different Na’vis cluttered around the space, some huddled really close to each other, faces animated while they're talking through their food. Others lying on the pillows with their eyes closed, letting the murmur wash over them.
Twinkle!" a voice calls out to you, and you turn around to see Vaopo waving you over to her side. On the cut log, a huge variety of dishes is laid out in a systematic order. All sorts of meat ranging from fish are sorted on the left side, with grains and vegetables on the other. On the fire, blubbering fat from the meat on a stick drips down on the flame, letting out a sizzling sound.
"I'll never understand why you call me that," you reply, shaking your head slightly, a smile gracing your lips. "You know," you raise a brow muscle, "the name my parents gave me works as well."
"Well, that doesn't matter," the short-haired girl waves you off. "As long as it sounds pretty."
"Sure, whatever you say."
"You heard?" the girl starts, taking the meat from your hands. "A new family arrived in the afternoon, looking really different from us."
"How come?" you ask while walking over to the bucket full of water and starting to wash the residual blood off your fingers.
"Uturu," she replies, taking out a big triangular-shaped stone with a sharp edge. "One of them had to be treated immediately, seems like they were chased by fe'ranvi."
You wrinkle your nose and look up at her. "Of course, they would be in the midst of it," and continue to shake your hands off. "Wait, what do they look like?"
"Lighter than us," she muses, stopping to think. "I couldn't really make out any small details, too many people were around."
"That's not helpful."
"You'll see them later," your friend continues, skipping over what you said. "You know how my dad was there with yours at the battle? Apparently, this family belongs to their old Olo'eyktan. Though I am surprised at their stature, they-"
"Wait, what do you mean 'you'll see them later'?" you ask.
"If you were so kind to let me finish, you'd know," she glares at you. "As I was saying, I am surprised at how lithe their figures are," she motions towards her chest, "thinner in all aspects, they'd probably make excellent climbers."
You give her a look.
"Alright," she rolls her eyes, "the Chieftain asked me to tell someone," she smiles a toothy grin at you. "And you just happen to be that 'someone' to bring them their food, as they're still settling down."
You sigh deeply and take one of the stuffed long leaves on the table. In the other hand, a bowl with clear hot liquid inside, and you set off on your way.
"Me and the others will be at the plaza tomorrow evening," Vaopo shout’s. "Join us?"
"Maybe," you retort, looking over your shoulder. "I should have time for it," and set off on your way.
Passing other people, you look at the night sky that has fallen over the world like a dark blanket only to realize halfway on the bridge that you forgot to ask where the new family is located. Turning around, you take the lower road passing by multiple rooms and greet the other Na'vis coming towards you. Some have their arms intertwined, smiling in greetings, while others are hurrying past, only sending you a quick nod.
You round the corner up to one of the biggest rooms in the settlement. Two fire posts are stationed on each side of the entrance and a leather-cut rectangle hanging in the middle, with the same insignia that adorns the pair's clothes.
"Ah, there you are," the Olo'eyktan greets you. "Come in, we have something to discuss," he signals with his arm for you to enter and sit down. You look over at both of them and nod, kneeling down. You place the food right next to you before comfortably unraveling your legs from underneath you.
"You've probably heard by now," Aìng starts, arms crossed as she's still standing. "A new family has moved in, seeking refuge, and we'd like you to be one of the trainers."
You cock your head sideways, hair falling over your back. "What tasks will that be?"
"They'll need someone for the hunting practices and maybe the gardens."
"They have a guide for tomorrow," the older Na'vi finishes her mate's sentence, flicking her braid over her shoulder.
"I can work with that," you agree and start collecting the dishes, looking up. "I originally came over to ask where they are," you finish.
"We put them behind your cot, in hopes that you'd interact with them," the Chieftain smiles broadly. "Luckily, you agreed. Thank you once again."
You shake your head in refusal. "No, no, I'm glad to help," although you're apprehensive about it, you don't voice your concerns. After all, more socialization has never hurt anyone. Plus, you're curious to see what the new family looks like, as Vaopo's description doesn't paint a clear picture of them.
You leave your cot and follow the same path as earlier, hurrying over the bridge and rounding another left turn past your own room before arriving at your destination. As you approach, your ears pick up murmurs, including the high-pitched tone of an excited child. Taking a deep breath, you step closer. "Excuse me," you say, sticking your head through the entry.
The foreign Na'vis turn to stare at you, and the older male, whom you presume to be the former chieftain, steps forward with a smile. "Please," he says, opening his arms, "come in."
"Thank you," you reply formally as you walk inside.
The first thing that the new family notices is a thick, ugly scar that starts from your shoulder and runs down to your sternum, with your skin pulling at it with each movement. Your skin is the same deep blue as your clanmates and you’re donning  elaborate bracelets along your muscular arms. An iridescent stone sits in the middle of your chest, woven into dyed fabric that resembles long flower leaves. Thin threads hold it all together, meeting in the middle of your back and disappearing beneath your long hair. You wear multiple thick threads woven together, stitched in with beads, around your arms, and a dark loincloth and chaps of a similar color around your waist.
"I'm Y/n," you introduce yourself, holding up your arms. "I brought you guys food."
On the other side of the room, you notice a female Na'vi standing next to a teenager with thin braids pushed out of his face. He wears a thick beaded necklace that goes down to the middle of his collarbones. True to your friend's description, they are lighter in color, reminiscent of a sky after the storm. Their ears, chests, and tails are all thinner than your own. Their feline eyes are a vivid green that almost border yellow in the dim wick light.
"Jake Sully," the man introduces himself, wearing a garment around his waist, with thick locks pushed out of his face marred with lithe scars. "And my family," he continues, the others echoing back greetings.
"Thanks, I'm Lo'ak," the boy pipes up and takes the leaf plate from you while reaching for the bowl.
"No problem," you retort and wave him off. "Give me one of the concoction bags. It should have a deep red stripe on it. We need to mix it with this water while it's still hot."
Neytiri takes the bag, opens it, and hands it over to you. You smile at her in thanks and slowly dump the contents inside the bowl. Lo'ak hands you a thin stick with a rounded hollow edge, and you take it. After stirring for a while and seeing the powder completely dissolve, you hand her the utensils, which she promptly accepts and immediately turns around to tend to the boy lying on the floor.
"I'm going to be one of your trainers," you speak up, garnering the entire family's attention. "Though I would like to start once he's cleared of any issues." You glance over to the mother and son.
"Of course," Jake replies. "We've been told that tomorrow there will be a guide."
You nod thoughtfully. "So have I. If the chance arises that you'll need me, you'll find my room behind yours."
Another thing that we don't need," mutters the oldest girl under her breath, wrapping her arms around herself. "I mean, the day has already been tumultuous. We don't need another situation in the middle of the night."
The younger boy snorts, and Jake shoots them a glare. Awkwardly, you glance between the three, not knowing what to reply to ease the tension.
"Uh, I'm going to leave now." Wow, real smooth. Every scholar would grovel at your feet for your vast knowledge of vocabulary and articulation skills.  You stiffly scurry towards the entrance and stop abruptly. "Good night," you force out in slight mortification, realizing you’ve almost forgotten your manners. Leaving quickly, your mind tries to convince itself that this interaction isn’t as awkward as you think it is.
You round the corner again and slump against the entrance of your own abode. Reaching into one of the small pouches fastened onto the belt of your loincloth, you take out dark-colored spiky stones and, in quick motions, smash them against each other. Holding them close to the fireposts, the sparks ignite the paste inside and it flames up to life, bathing the surroundings in warm golden light.
Repeating the process with the other post, you tuck the stones back in and enter through the translucent bead curtain into your room.
Ridding yourself of the accessories, you take out another pair and lay them over on the floor for tomorrow. Taking off your ionar, you gaze at it, the colorful transparent material glistening in the low light. The arduous hours you’ve spent shaping it into the perfect shape were endless, but it's a task that anyone has to do for their iknimaya. You had yours a few months ago as you reached your first rotation of adulthood. Though you notice that you haven't mentally changed at all, especially compared to how you were as a child. Sure, you're not as anxious as before, but that doesn't mean that nightmares don't plague you almost every night or that you don't keep throwing looks over your shoulder, feeling stalked by someone or something that is not around.
It's in moments like these, that you miss your parents and wonder how proud your mother would be if she saw your Ionar. How worried your father would be every time you returned from hunting.  You shake your head to rid yourself of these depressing thoughts before you start spiraling into another episode and lay down the headpiece.
On the small circular flat table, you find a leaf full of food that someone must have put there. Heartened by the thoughtfulness, you sit down and start eating the food, getting lost in thought and not really thinking of anything.
After finishing up the food in a few bites, you dispose of the leaf into a brown basket that has a flower pattern woven into the sides, and wipe your hands off. You pick up the round table and set it up against the wall before reaching over to take the pillows and blankets and start laying out your bed.
Sitting down, you put out all the small wick lamps but one, which you need for mental security, and pull the thick wool blanket over yourself. Laying on your side, your thoughts race around the Sully's their circumstances, and lastly your own parents. The last image of your father flickers into your mind as you start feeling your eyes grow heavy before falling into a deep slumber.

A/n: This is just the preface for all that is to come in this story.
-The biome the Na'vis live in, is the tropical grassland biome, on earth, that is the subsaharan part of africa, australia and india. Also tried to research on how realistically they would've evolved without them looking too much like the dire horse clan. which then i came to the conclusion that these new Na'vis are a mix between the tawkami clan and if tropical biome grassland Na'vis were a thing, unlike the tawkami clan though, they live in the open plain lands, though they will have the same spiritual/ scholarly attitude that the former have in the video game.
if you want to know what the grassland Na'vis place look like please click on this ⤑ ''Horizon forbidden west plainsong'' just without the metal plate underneath ,as that is going to be made out of woods and other stuff. though that absolutely does not mean that the Na'vis are wearing the atrocious clothes of the utarus.
don't know if anyone is following the James webb space telescope but did y'all see the exoplanet we found named VHS 1256 b that seems to be a super Jupiter? apparently they found the largest number of molecules methane, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide water , and silicate sand on it!!! an outer planet!!!!!! even crazier considering that said planet is not even in the goldilocks zone , its about four times farther away from the sun than Pluto is! Its in it early stages, like reeeeal early. though i heard that if you compared it to other exoplanets earth its also relatively young, like if you turn it into a life span's time, it would be 1.50 mins after birth, don't quote me on that tho. kinda fucked up how we managed to fuck up the earth that early in, hm anyways i'm derailing, hope this fic is interesting enough for people to want to continue to read cause i really like the story i came up with :)
