Veteran police officer Alan M. Rice reviews the Premier Body Armor Fortis Level III+ Loadout for its effectiveness against rifle threats in an article on The Armory Life. Highlighting the challenges faced by officers, particularly those in smaller, rural agencies where personal equipment purchases are common, Rice emphasizes the flexibility and protective capabilities of the Fortis system. The review details the benefits of Ultra-High-Molecular-Weight-Polyethylene (UHMWPE) plates, which offer significant protection with less weight than Level IV plates, making them suitable for prolonged use in training and active duty scenarios. Rice also underscores the convenience offered by the Fortis Alpha Carrier's multiple adjustment points, integrated trauma technology, and additional storage pouches for tactical gear, showing its practical applications for law enforcement officers.

Thoughts on Alex Keller?
Ohh i love him Q_Q Very underrated and such a wholesome character *-* Liked playing as him in game. He went through some shit from losing his teammates to losing his leg, and what not. He's soo loyal(Farah's cause) and all in for the greater good. The chemistry between him and Farah is fire, i also liked his dialogue with Hadir. His VA, Chad Michael Collins, is doing an excellent job and it's nice to see how interactive he his with the community :) He liked some of my Alex shots on twitter ☺️ Thats what i got for now I mean.. look at himm

"A practice space capsule on a forklift. The capsule was used for practicing the recovery of astronaut Scott Carpenter and his Mercury capsule as part of the Mercury-Atlas 7 NASA mission. The forklift and capsule are on one of USS INTREPID's aircraft elevators. The capsule is black and white, and the forklift is yellow. There is a large pulley hanging in front of the capsule, and two officers in khakis stand near it. Both officers are wearing yellow cloth helmets with thick, yellow protective ear muffs and goggles on top of their heads. There are other crew members in dungarees surrounding the cart. In the background crew members in various uniforms are watching the events. Captioned by photographer/donor, 'Practice for Scott Carpenter recovery.'"

Eagle Industries LVAC
I'd purchased one of these for @bureau-of-mines not too long ago just as a cheap method of providing a simple carrier for the BALCS soft armor that both of us had. I ended up falling in love with it, but still found myself going with a different carrier initially -
Tumblr media
Above: Eagle LVAC (left) vs BCS LVR (right)
I'd ended up getting an LVR from Beez Combat Systems in order to have the added benefits of swiftclip attachment for chest rigs as well as rear PALS webbing for whatever pouches I wanted to add to the back while keeping the front slick.
In the end, I was woefully disappointed with the quality of the LVR and I'm going to be trading it off here soon - the platebags didn't fit my inserts very well, the way the straps attached caused lots of sagging in the corners, and overall it wasn't very good quality or all that comfortable when compared to the LVAC.
Tumblr media
And with that, me and my partner now own matching plate carriers! They aren't anything spectacular, but the LVAC's beauty is that it's a plate carrier with nothing to hide - you get exactly what you expect from it, nothing more, nothing less.
The fit with inserts is nice and snug (both me and the BF are using EI-cut IIIA BALCS inserts from Stealth Armor Systems ftr), and the internally padded shoulder straps are nice and comfy. Not to mention with both of ours coming in at less than $105 per vest, a good bargain as far as brand-name kit goes.
The logic of doctrine I'm working towards with these is using a concealment-style carrier that can be worn under heavy clothing and chest rigs, but is still durable enough to use as an overt carrier if need be. I've considered modding these with swiftclip attachment webbing, but currently I'm interested with the concept of integrating a chest rig with a 3-day pack.
We will see what I decide with this all going forwards.

TOMBOY 2 - 2 "NARRATOR" (Armoured Reference)
This is a base colour and proportion reference for my character Narrator.
A sniper by training, and RIO by necessity, she has seen the highs and lows of the Chronological Adjustment Guild's operations. Preferring to take on a guardian angel type role, she opts for an anti-materiel rifle in order to keep both her team at a safe distance, and to provide friendly forces with constant updates on new developments on an area of operations. She found her start as a saboteur for a PMC, leading asset denial missions to prevent the enemy from capturing downed friendly air assets. One fateful day, she meets "Canines", a downed-but-not-quite-dead A-10C II pilot. Having lost the majority of both of their friendlies on the field, she joins Canines on an ad hoc mission to steal an F-14 and finish the mission. After witnessing a harrowing slaughter and the sinking of their fleet, they part ways and go into hiding; but not before securely hiding their new plane somewhere nondescript. Years pass by and they find themselves working together time after time, though in different roles. Eventually, they are approached by, and coerced into joining the enigmatic Chronological Adjustment Guild.
Each of these variations on her design are simply how she might change her base colours and how she might paint her weapons for the kind of mission she is assigned to. Her signature pink helmet and full-face coverings remain the same through all theatres of war. I chose the JPC style plate-carrier for her as a defensive measure but also to maintain an extra level of mobility without sacrificing ballistic resistance in case she does need to get close. The abseiling harness is always present; and with her ever present helmet, they echo her experiences in the past, having typically been inserted via helicopter with her teams.
I found this sheet particularly challenging because there were so many standardized objects near her that I felt paranoid about the scale of things. I did my best to keep the proportions of her equipment consistent with her body, but it was definitely a new experience to push myself to be as meticulous as I could with the measurements. The colouring and detailing was actually kind of fun here, making me stop so many times to think "Oh, but would this feel natural to wear this like this? Or maybe there's a reason she likes to use X thing in Y manner so she made Z modifications to it!". I really enjoy this kind of thinking, and will definitely be trying this style of reference more often in the future!

"I heard you like zippers... So I added more zippers"
This item is something I have almost no information on. It may be the only one of its kind and frankly, it kinda terrifies me.
What we have here is a plate carrier that's believed to have been made by Patriot Performance Materials some time in the early 2000's, though there are no tags (or markings of any kind for that matter) to confirm this as fact.
What we do know is that it is based heavily on their Immediate Action Plate Carrier (IAPC) design, but with the addition of a 'cutaway' quick release cable system (sadly missing) that interfaces with a cummerbund composed entirely of GP Pouches that zip together.
A small triangular pouch up front, thought to be a groin protector, I believe is actually an early form of dangler pouch, long before Spiritus Systems and Ferro Concepts set the present standard for it, and the row of PALS webbing on the back of this pouch presumably allows a full-size ballistic groin protector to be attached to it.
But perhaps its most striking feature are the platebags, and how they can zip entirely off the carrier base. It bears a striking similarity in function to the Crye CAGE Armor Chassis, which suspends its platebags off a soft armor body harness.
youtube
For this reason, EODFish originally referred to this carrier as the "PPM Chassis", however until further notice, I'm referring to it as the 'Cutaway IAPC', or 'IPAC-C'.
You may notice in addition to the missing cutaway cable, this example has a large flap crudely cut into the shock cord concealment panel, and that is because the owner after EODFish took it upon himself to open this portion up to install a tactik buckle cummerbund in an attempt to set up this 1-off GWOT-era oddity as his personal plate carrier.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Annoying and inconvenient, but thankfully, I know how to dissect this entire thing safely and replace this panel with a newly-fabricated one. Something I'll need to do later on top of replacing the cutaway system.
If anyone, ANYONE has more information on this thing; a name, a catalog, a part number, photos especially, don't hesitate to contact me. @bureau-of-mines and I want to learn more about this contraption of a plate carrier.
