Platelet-Rich Plasma: New Performance Understandings and Therapeutic Considerations
Tumblr media
The Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatment is slowly being accepted as the possible cure for a series of medical and aesthetic issues. If you're looking to speed up the recovery from an injury or increase the skin's vitality, knowing the key concepts of PRP can be very useful. In this guide, we will highlight the therapy of PRP treatment, its advantages, and the discussions to have prior to undergoing this therapy.
Understanding PRP: What is Platelet-Rich Plasma?
PRP, which stands for Platelet-Rich Plasma, is a by-product from your own blood. It has more platelets than the generally found levels in blood. Platelets are essential for the blood to clot and also they secrete growth factors which are responsible for healing and regeneration of tissue.
PRP is prepared by taking a small amount of your blood and spinning it in a centrifuge. The plasma is then removed and processed by adding platelets to them. The solution containing concentrated PRP is then injected into the area of the body that needs treatment. This method has gained popularity in both medical and cosmetic fields due to its various advantages.
How PRP Treatment Works
Having gained the basic knowledge of PRP, let us look at what PRP treatment entails. When the PRP is injected into the targeted area, it activates the body's own healing process. This is especially good for those kinds of injuries that include tendons, ligaments, muscles, and joints. The growth factors found in the PRP promote tissue repair, inflammation reduction, and even pain relief.
PRP treatment is cosmetic applications. PRP is essentially collagen boosters that way to get rid of the fine deformities, wrinkles, and scars, thus ensuring the skin looks younger. PRP treatment in Mississauga is a versatile solution for both medical and aesthetic purposes and if you are a candidate for it then you should consider it.
The Benefits of PRP Treatment
Tumblr media
The major pro of PRP treatment is its flexibility. Since it contains only natural ingredients from your body, there is a minimal risk of allergic reactions or complications to be expected. Besides, PRP can be customized to people with particular problems, whether you are suffering from sports injuries or if you want a facelift without the need for surgery.
Another important benefit is that the recovery time is relatively short. PRP treatment takes advantage of the body's natural healing process, which is why patients usually recover faster than with conventional methods. Besides, the benefits of PRP treatment last for a long time, which is why it is a valuable option for those who want to have sustainable results.
Who Can Benefit from PRP?
PRP therapy is applicable to a large number of people. Athletes and physically active people usually use PRP to enhance healing in case of injuries. It’s also a wonderful alternative for those who are going through chronic diseases such as osteoarthritis. In the field of cosmetics, PRP is a perfect choice for those who want to improve their skin's appearance without invasive procedures.
If you're searching for "Platelet Rich Plasma Near you" or "platelet rich plasma near in Mississauga," it's important to consult with a qualified healthcare provider to determine if PRP is right for you. They can assess your specific needs and help you decide the best course of action.
Considerations Before Undergoing PRP Treatment
Tumblr media
Despite the fact that PRP treatment can have various advantages, it is necessary to consider some things. To begin with, it is vital to have realistic expectations. PRP promotes recovery and improves the overall look of the skin but does not bring immediate or miraculous results. The treatment's effectiveness also depends on the type of the condition being treated and the individual body's response to the therapy.
It's also very important to find out a trustworthy provider. If you plan to undergo PRP treatment in Mississauga, make sure the facility is well-equipped, and the practitioners are experienced. A detailed consultation will help you grasp the procedure, possible risks, and probable results.
What to Expect During and After PRP Treatment
PRP treatment is a relatively quick procedure, typically taking about an hour. During the session, the practitioner will draw a small amount of your blood, process it to concentrate the platelets, and inject the PRP into the targeted area. While the injection may cause some discomfort, it’s generally well-tolerated.
After the treatment, you might experience some swelling, redness, or mild pain at the injection site. These symptoms usually subside within a few days. It's essential to follow your provider's post-treatment care instructions to ensure optimal results. Depending on your condition, you might need multiple sessions to achieve the desired outcome.
Conclusion: Is PRP Right for You?
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) treatment is a promising option for those seeking to enhance their health and appearance. This my first ever fanfiction . Please if you don't want spoilers don't read until after the Zou arc. Kara is my One Piece Oc. I can touch up on her later.
A lot has happened since Dressrosa . A late night on the tang leaves Kara and Law a moment alone. Neither knowing what to say after certain events that have happened .They let the moment take way . Leaving Law to make a certain request as Captain.
It was another late night on the Tang. Which had been submerged for about 2 days now. Daily chores were done and Kara had just finished her work for the day. Putting the paperwork away that was scattered on her desk she looked over at the patient beds. Which were currently occupied in the med bay by the Straw hats that were traveling with the heart pirate crew to Wano. There were seven extra people on the ship now, to make things easier for sleeping arrangements the med level of the ship was turned into a makeshift sleeping quarters . The two Samurai in the private med rooms and the Straw had men In what was the post op room / exam room. Robin, much to Ikaku's delight, got to share a room with her. She had never said it out loud, but Kara knew that she missed her when she switched rooms to share with the captain. Stating that he was tired of her having to go back to her room in the morning and might as well just stay.
Speaking of which, it was almost midnight. She really should go and check on him, to make sure he isn't overworking himself. They had only left Zou a day ago and Law wanted to do a check up on the entire crew along with they're venturing companions. Especially after finding out they had a run in with Jack and poisonous gas made by Caesar. She didn't blame him, they both witnessed what “Land of the dead '' did back on Punk Hazard. Never doubting the skill of the Straw Hats adorable doctor. Treatment was still needed for the crew, wounds were still healing after battle not only from Zou, but from Dressrosa, and her own after helping Nami and the others evade Big Moms ship. Of course he would want to make sure his crew was okay after all of that . But that meant copious amounts of paperwork for her and their captain. As she left the post op she noticed that the door to the Op room was open.
With an exhale she walked over thinking Zoro got lost again on his way to the bathroom. Going in fully ready to reprimand and scold him for getting lost in what she considers a simple ship layout she noticed someone sleeping on the operating table. The lights were off so she couldn't fully tell who it was. Walking over she noticed a very recognizable white hat resting on top of the sleeping figure. Kara smiled and turned on the light, and walked over gently lifting the hat off of her sleeping Captains face.
His closed eyes stirred as they met the light, opening one eye to see who had disturbed his sleep. Greeted by the kind smile of his pink headed nurse.
“You know the only ones who sleep on these beds are those in critical condition, and are about to be dissected“ she stated with a soft giggle. “Dissected? That's an interesting way to put what actually goes on in this room” he said as he sat up and stretched. He rubbed the back of his head then reached for his hat which Kara was still holding. “Regardless, you picked a weird place to take a nap. You do know you have a sofa in your office or, better yet, a bed on level four. What are you doing in here anyways?“ She looked around at the sterile room only used for dire situations. He placed his hat back on his head and pointed over to the medical storage that held the more perishable supplies. There was a clipboard on the counter next to it .Come to think of it, they had been gone for about a month and a half now, a lot of the supplies were probably bad by now. They froze the plasma and blood which prolonged its shelf life, but it wasn’t as simple with other supplies. On top of that the crew hadn’t been on the ship for about two weeks now. The realization that she left with Law to help and neither one of them had any intention of coming back alive.
“So how much of it went bad?’ She asked.
“All of the saline which makes sense, it's only good for twenty eight days. We’ll have to get more soon. What about you? How's your work going?”
Kara thought back to the patient reports she was putting together prior, from all of the checkups they had done. Doing some mental math on how much was left to do. “It's coming along, I’m about halfway through. It's taking a bit longer than normal since we have extra people on the ship”. Then a thought occurred to her. “Although there is one person we neglected to give a proper checkup” she stated as she walked over to the cabinet that held extra examination supplies.
He raised his brow in confusion as he went through the mental catalog of crew members to see who he missed. “Really who?”. She turned back to him putting on latex rubber gloves and pointed at him. “You , my dear captain”
He groaned “Really. Come on Kara, I’m fine”. She gave him a look staring straight at his bandaged arm that was severed and mended in Dressrosa, then stared back at him. She wasn’t going to take no for an answer. She just continued to walk over with the blood pressure monitor in hand which she grabbed from the cabinet. They say doctors make the worst patients. Law fits that description to a tee. She continued to stare at him until he eventually relented, pushing said arm out so she could wrap the band around his upper arm. Letting out a heavy sigh “Fine”.
She smiled “ Thank you, now stay still so I can get a proper reading, relax and keep both feet flat on the floor”. She began to pump and meticulously watch the needle on the gauge as it moved, recording the results that followed. He watched her focus state as she went through the steps of the procedure, trying his hardest to be on his best behavior. She had a far better bedside manner than his own but if he gave her any sort of a hard time she’d be sure to make this experience a living hell. Going off of past personal experiences. He always seemed to notice how gentle she was during these procedures. Always trying to make sure that no step in the process was uncomfortable or unnerving for whoever was the patient. She steadily made her way through the exam, checking the back of his throat with a tongue depressor, also checking the ears with the otoscope. She pulled out the pupil gauge and shined into his eyes. He looked past the light straight into hers which burned with focused intensity.
He loved her eyes and how they reflected her kindness. Even now when she was locked in concentration, there was still a shine in her eyes that represented the gentleness and compassion she had shown him countless times.  He got so lost in thought staring at them he almost missed what she said. “Hmm?”
“I said your eyes are fine, they dilated to a beautiful 3mm, perfectly healthy” she responded, turning off the gauge and placing it back down onto the tray next to them. “Although I didn’t think anything was wrong with them in the first place.” She was adjusting the stethoscope onto her ears and moved behind him so she could listen to the mitral valve better.
She gave him the signal to take a deep breath, then started to listen intently. Listening in making sure there wasn’t any irregularity to show signs of things like murmurs, damage to the valves or chambers. Just listening to the heart beat, his heart. She got lost in the cadence, it was so full of life and warmth. The sound was hypnotizing like white noise used to lull her to sleep each night. It was a sound that she thoroughly enjoyed.Until she realized that she had been listening for longer than needed. She snapped out of her trance. She quickly recorded her results and moved back around to the front of Law.
“ How do I look?” Law asked, letting out a sight with a smirk. She took off her stethoscope and draped it around her neck. “ Well there seems to be no damage to your heart or lungs , blood pressure is regular , everything seems to be fine which is good considering what all happened in Dressrosa.” She let out a sigh of relief with a soft smile. Robin told her what all happened after “The Sunny” left. A lot happened in the span of one day.
“Although I’m more concerned about your arm , I’m curious If there is any difference in its motor functions. Can we test it?” He raised it to get a better look at it. After the fight he was bandaged up and he had been taking care of it since. Although the means of reattachment wasn’t ideal he hadn’t noticed a difference in how it used to be. He had no reason to question it. In fact there wasn’t really a need for the entire checkup. But he was letting her anyway not for his sake but for hers. He knew he was fine . She needed to confirm for herself that he was okay.. He then remembered the embrace she gave him when they reunited , the tears in her eyes. She must have been so worried and out of her mind. Since then she had rarely let him out of her sight. Almost like if she looked away for more than five seconds he would disappear forever.
He let her continue. He pushed his arms equally against the force of her arms pulling on his forearms. He knew the procedure so he didn't need instruction.
Kara was focused on trying to discern whether there was a difference in pressure in the muscles. As the test continued his hand ended up in hers as she assessed the muscle memory in each of his tattooed fingers. Nothing , nothing at all was wrong. He was as healthy as he always was. She felt foolish. Of course nothing was wrong ,he very rarely got sick and he was a doctor , so he knew how to take care of himself. Kara sat there holding his hand staring at the word “Death” spread across his fingers. The word that she knew he was so willing to embrace in Dressrosa. He almost did , without her. She got sent with Nami’s team when the plan went south. She almost lost him.
Just that thought alone. She knew that when they left. She embraced the thought of possibly dying herself ,but when it came down to it. She was left to live , without him. How could she, the thought of a world without him. Tears started to flow from her eyes and they started to stain their hands. The mere thought left her devastated and heartbroken. His grip tightened at the sight. Using his other arm he pulled her towards him so she was now crying into his chest. Making sure to hold on tightly to her as if to let her know he wasn’t going anywhere.
They stayed like that for a bit. He wasn't the best with emotions , so he didn't know exactly how to handle this except to just let her get it out. She was always there when he needed her. With a smile in hand. He just wanted that smile to live on , when another he knew didn’t. He never stopped to think about how that decision would affect her.
Kara dried the tears from her eyes trying hard to compose herself. “I’m sorry , I don’t know what came over me”.
He just let out a deep breath , “ We both know that's a lie, and it’s fine”
They sat there in silence neither one of them were exact experts when it came to a relationship like this. It comes from how the both of them were brought up. But if Ikkaku were here she would probably push for them to talk about it more , you know, hash out the feelings. But they knew each other too well.
“I was willing to die with you”
“I know”
“You left me to live without you”
“Yeah”
“You can be so cruel” he could hear the smile in her voice. “But I would ,not just for you, but for anyone on the crew. You're all so precious to me, you most of all.” He pulled her in tighter.
“Thinking like that is dangerous” She giggled a little at the irony.
“You're one to talk. But I’m a medic, I’d do anything to keep you alive .”
He knew he couldn’t stop her even if he tried, once she had her mind set on something. But he knew didn’t want anyone doing that for him again. He got lucky when he found someone that valued his life more than he did. Then coming across multiple people who he was able to share a kinship with and trusted him . Then finding her ,a mixture of both and more. He pushed her bangs back and rested his lips on her forehead.
“Fine , but as your captain I have one order for you”
He raised her head by the chin so that she could look directly into his golden orbs .
“ Do anything in your power to keep us alive , but under no circumstance are you allowed to die for anyone, especially me. I can’t lose you too.”
At that moment she understood why , and smiled . Not knowing what to say at such a request. She wasn’t upset anymore. That was it no more thinking about the end. Now all that was left to do was , live. That was the new goal. Stay alive for each other. The thought brought her so much joy that all she could manage to say was …
“Yes , Captain”

Violet had been looking for a decent challenge, one that could test his strength and teach him the way to becoming a true warrior, one powerful enough to contest the great Beast. When he had heard of a local UNSC Platoon stationed at a Charon Industry power plant (whatever that was), he knew he’d found a worthy contender. At least… he had thought…
“DO YOU NOT TRAIN?! HAVE YOU NO SOLDIER WORTHY OF BATTLE?!!” He yelled, blasting his way through many unfortunate UNSC troopers. He pummeled and kicked past crowd after crowd, followed closely the waves of radioactive green plasma exploding through the endless swarm of marines as he lifted his cannon on his shoulders.
“What of your Captain? Commander? YOUR LEADER! Surely they will give me the challenge I CRAVE!” His voice booming out with vigor as he looked around, slightly disappointed at the lack of skill amongst the fallen soldiers around him. Of course, what he did not know, is that this particular Captain, was a high level assassination target of Project Freelancer. Said captain was carrying top secret information on the treatment and misuse of not just the Alpha AI, but the implementation of the Sim Soldiers like him.

Stowaway
Chapter Two: Capture
Em and Seth both have near death experiences; Seth leaves his with a boot of confidence, while Em is left trapped and left at the mercy of whoever finds her.
This chapter contains Blood, Injury of both the mild and serious kind (including burns and the medical treatment of burns), Death, Light? Gore (I'm not sure what would be considered as gore).
Seth found himself wandering a city of featureless buildings, a sense of unease and danger hung in the air like the thick fog that surrounded him. The sound of things skittering could be heard around him but not a thing could be seen. As he wandered the city the smell of rot and brimstone filled the air as the ground began to shake around him.
Slowly the sky and fog around him shifted from grey to red and demonic shapes could spotted running around him in the shadows. Suddenly two bright red lights cut through the fog like butter, the light was blinding as they shone down upon him. Seths heart began to race as he felt something begin to chase him. He ran down the empty streets as the massive entity chased after him, its eyes beamed through the fog like unholy searchlights.
The shaking of the earth as the colossal demon hunted him causes Seth to stumble, as he attempted to regain his balance Seth felt a crushing weight around his entire body as the entity grabbed him, its eyes blinding him as he was lifted high above the city, sirens blaring in his ears. Before he could see the face of this… thing, Seth woke up.
He woke up to the smell of smoke and the emergency sirens going off overhead. The intercom crackled to life, blaring out an announcement.
ATTENTION ALL PERSONEL THE CARRIER IS UNDER ATTACK, REPEAT THE CARRIER IS UNDER ATTACK
Demon attack.
Seth threw his glasses on and grabbed the emergency firearm from the drawer beneath his bed before rushing out the door.
The emergency lights were on and people were running and screaming in panic. Once again, the intercom crackled out another announcement, this time instructing people to make their way to a panic room. Seth followed the crowd as everyone made their way to a safe room. Seth had almost made into the safe room when the bulkhead closed shut.
Seth attempted to open the door but it was useless, the bulkhead was locked and the blast shutters had probably deployed. He was about to try and make his way to another safe room when he heard a shrill growl to his left.
At the end of the hall stood an Imp, and it looked about ready to pounce. Seth took off down the hall as fast as he could with the Imp hot on his heels. Seth took a sharp right down one of the halls before making a left, he was trying to confuse the Imp in hopes that he’d lose it, but he soon found himself standing before a door to one of the stairwells. A demonic shriek echoed from behind him as Seth opened the door. He was a few flights up when he heard the Imp scrambling up the stairwell after him and in a moment of panic Seth ran out a door leading to the outside.
He almost had the door shut when he was pushed back by the Imp slamming into the door, the force was almost enough to knock the intern over the railing of the ship. The Imp leapt forth and had mostly pinned Seth to the ground when it was whacked in the face with Seth’s pistol.
The demon stumbled back giving Seth the opportunity to fire a charged shot directly at its head. The Imp gave a short screech of fury before its skull was obliterated by the plasma. The body collapsed to the floor and Seth stood up on shaky legs, he took a few tentative steps back from the corpse before ecstatically exclaiming.
“Holy shit… I killed one! I actually killed one!”
He wiped his glasses clean of the Imps bright red blood from his glasses, though his victory was quickly cut short when a fireball slammed into the wall beside him. Looking up Seth saw three sets of bright yellow eyes shining through the fog, with a flicker of sparks and hellish energy another fireball came careening towards him. He barely had time to dodge the first one when a second one was shot at him, this time hitting the railing beside him causing the metal to melt.
Seth sprinted down the gangway as the three Imp chased after him, their hellish screams echoing across the deck. He was about to enter the hangar when a fireball hit the deck next to him and exploded. Seth fell to the floor and screamed in pain as the fireball had grazed his leg, the wound was already blistering and the cold sea air caused it to sting.
One of the Imps took advantage of the situation and leapt towards Seth and slashed at him. It landed a swipe at his burned leg before he let out several rounds into the demon.
The Imp staggered back and was about to make another lunge when the mangled corpse of a Prowler hit the floor with a wet crunch, it’s head and neck were gone and its right arm was hanging on by only a few ligaments. The Imps jumped back in surprise and let out low growls as the looked around for what had killed the Prowler.
A gargling whistle sounded from above them causing the Imps to snap their heads towards the source of the noise. The had completely forgotten about Seth and were entirely focused on this interloper. Seth didn’t know whether to be glad or concerned. On one hand he wasn’t being attacked, on the other the Imps were clearly more concerned about whatever had killed the Prowler, which concerned him.
An Imp leapt towards the source of the noise, but the moment it left his sight the demon let out a strangled howl before being cut off by the snapping of bones. Its lifeless corpse hit the deck causing the two remaining Imps to step back. Without warning something snatched one of the two Imps from the deck and snapped its neck before disappearing into the fog once more.
Seth and the remaining Imp looked about frantically for whatever was attacking, the last Imp was snatched of the deck by dark talons, it let out a shriek and it was dragged off into the fog. Sounds of a struggle echoed across the flight deck, until one last howl sounded from the Imp followed by a loud crack.
Not long after the sounds of something eating, resonated from down the flight deck. Seth grabbed his pistol and began to limp towards the source of the noise, his fingers were on the trigger in case the Imp had won the fight.
“Slayer? Is that you?” he asked as he drew closer, no response… “Slayer?”
As Seth drew closer, he could begin to make out a figure stood atop what appeared to be the corpse of the Imp. It was vaguely humanoid in shape, but its neck was far too long, and its head ended in a thick snout. Long gangly arms grasped at the body and they appeared to be covered in thick feathers or scales, but the fog made it hard to distinguish which. From what he could tell it was eating the Imps corpse.
Seth gasped at the sight causing the creatures head to snap towards him. The Interloper growled at Seth; its eyes glowed a dull yellow that shifted to a more reddish hue as its pupils slitted. Seth yelped in alarm and dropped his pistol before limping away as the creature stood up and began to hiss.
He hobbled away as fast as his leg would allow him, fearing the creature would give chase. Luckily for him it didn’t, the Interloper was content with eating it meal in peace, not that he knew of course.
The alarm had stopped and a group of ARC soldiers were patrolling the ship. They must be looking for survivors or any straggling demons abord the ship. Seth spotted the patrol and began calling for help.
“Hey! Over here! I need help, and there’s something still out here!” the group quickly rushed over to the intern and asked him what happened. Seth explained how he had been locked out of a safe room and had to fight off some Imps, and how that thing he had seen slaughtered three of them. The leader of the patrol told one of the soldiers to help Seth to the infirmary while the rest searched the flight deck for the interloper.
In the med-bay Seth was being treated by one of the doctors when an announcement came on over the intercom. “This is the Resistance Network, in what will hopefully be our final broadcast. To all the people of Earth – to anyone listening – the demonic horde has been defeated. The beast identified by the ARC scientists as the Icon of Sin was destroyed earlier today by the Slayer himself, and with it the majority of the demonic force has dispersed. With the threat decreased, it is important now more than ever that we come together. There is hope, the human race will persevere…”
The rest of the broadcast was drowned out by the cheering of people throughout not just the med-bay, but the entire ship. Seth was so overwhelmed with joy that it distracted him from the doctor peeling some of his pant leg off the burn, though he did spot the doctor placing the bloody rag into a garbage receptacle. Looking back down to his leg Seth cringed at the sight, his leg was red and swollen and the scratches from the Imp was still bleeding. The doctor was able to stop the bleeding and clean it before stitching the wounds closed, and burn cream was applied to his leg before being wrapped. The doctor finished dressing his wound and had prescribed him some pain meds.
“I want you to come back in about four days so I can make sure the wound isn’t infected.” The doctor said as they handed him the pain meds, “Take two of these a day, one in the morning and one in the evening. I would give you the antibiotic cream but given that you’ll be back here soon enough I’ll just apply more on your check-up,”
“You got it doc,” Seth replied as he slowly got up from the table, being careful to not agitate his leg.
“I want you to give this note to your higher ups, it explains that you shouldn’t be doing anything strenuous to your leg to keep the swelling down. I’d honestly prefer it if you were put on bed rest until at least the burns heal, but I doubt that will happen…” the doctor added before turning to the guard who had helped Seth, “And I want you to escort Mr. Willems to the bridge in case his leg starts acting up, alright?”
“Yes sir-, er, ma-, er, yes doctor!” Seth stared awkwardly and the doctor chuckled at the guards floundering before leaving to tend to another patient. The two exited the med-bay and quietly walked towards the bridge, though about halfway there the guard broke the silence.
“So… You must be pretty damn lucky to survive getting attacked by three Imps, especially with little to no training,” the guard remarked.
“It was four actually, but I only killed one… the other three got killed by that thing,” Seth replied, still unsettled by what he saw on the flight deck.
“Hey, that’s still impressive! Not a lot of people can say they survived three Imps,”
As they neared the bridge, Seth and the guard could hear a commotion in the command room, a commander barking orders as people ran about in a panic, and he could hear the teleporter powering up. Seth and the guard entered the bridge one of the commanders yelled again.
“What do you mean you can’t locate the origin? Well, it has to be coming from somewhere; can you at least tell me where-” the man was cut off as the portal opened and the Slayer himself walked out, dragging Dr. Hayden’s body behind him. Dr. Hayden appeared to be talking but whatever he was saying was being drowned out by the sound of his metal body being dragged across the floor. Upon closer inspection it appeared the Dr. was in the prosses of repairing himself when the Slayer had decided to evict him from wherever he was being kept. As he now had both his arms and most of his torso, as opposed to the chest and arm he had when Seth saw him last.
The Doom Slayer unceremoniously hucked Dr. Hayden’s body towards the commanders and turned to leave, as he did Seth could finally hear what Hayden was saying.
“The fight is far from over Slayer,” he said as people rushed to stabilize him, “You’ll need my help eventually, and when you do, you’ll know where to find me,” the Slayer gave Hayden the bird and continued walking but stopped when he saw Seth, recognizing him from a few days ago.
“I- um, ah hello, again, Mr. Slayer sir, ah…” Seth stuttered as the Slayer approached.
He walked up to Seth, not stopping until he was right in front of him, Seth tensed a little as the massive man looked him over. Seth noticed him staring at the bandages on his leg, he could just barely make out a look of concern on his face through the visor.
“Oh those? I-ah got attacked by some Imps earlier,” the Slayer tensed when he heard this, was he concerned about him? “But they’re dead now, so no need to worry,”
“He killed one of them himself actually,” the soldier beside him piped up. The Slayer relaxed and through the visor of his helmet Seth could see him raise his eyebrows in surprise. Seth was about to say something when the Slayer reached up and patted on the head before walking away through the portal.
There was a brief moment of silence as everyone processed what had just happened. Slowly, people returned to their work, quiet murmuring filled the silence as people worked to get Dr. Hayden hooked up to the ship. Seth walked up to one of the supervisors who wasn’t busy and informed them about Seth’s situation.
“I understand, do you know how long it’ll be until your leg is healed?” the supervisor asked with a concerned tone in their voice.
“Doctor didn’t say, I’ll make sure to ask them when I check in with them in a couple of days,” Seth responded.
“I see, I’ll make sure to have you on bridge duty until your condition improves. For-” The supervisor was cut off by Dr. Hayden who was now fully hooked up to the ship.
“You there, intern I need you to go down into the cargo bay and see if the artifacts I’ve procured haven’t been damaged or stolen in the recent attack.”
Seth perked up upon hearing that he needed to go to the cargo bay, he had almost completely forgotten about the tiny person he had seen the other day, but now he was starting to worry. He didn’t know how bad the cargo bay had been hit in the attack, and coupled with the mouse traps the cargo bay was a death trap. He was afraid they could have been hurt or worse…
“Yes sir,” he replied, already planning his route through cargo bay.
“Sir! With all due respect Mr. Willems is in no condition to walk to the cargo bay, let alone search it.” The supervisor retorted, somewhat appalled by Dr. Hayden’s disregard for Seth’s blatant injury.
“It’s alright sir, I don’t mind,” Seth said cheerfully, he hoped the supervisor wouldn’t push too hard to get him out of this.
“But-”
“Thank you, Mr. Willems. The rest of you are dismissed.” Hayden said with a wave of his hand, before turning his back to them.
“Corporal Willhower, could you help Mr. Willems with his cargo check?” the supervisor asked the guard next to Seth. Seth began to panic, wondering if the corporal might scare the tiny person more, or possibly even report them to the higher ups.
“Uh… actually I think I’ll be alright, I don’t want to keep corporal from his post for too long,”
“Are you sure? Ship’s safe now, I’m sure my boss won’t mind,” Corporal Willhower replied concerned.
“Yep, don’t worry, I’ll be fine,” and with that Seth limped out of the command room, as the supervisor and soldier watched on in confusion. The supervisor shot Dr. Hayden a glare, and corporal Willhower went back to his post.
Seth slowly made his way down the stairs into the cargo bay as he got to the bottom, he was finally able to take in the damage that had been delt to the bay. Scorch marks littered the walls and boxes. A few blood stains were also present, their vibrant red colour indicated that it had once belonged to Imps. Toppled boxes littered the floor filling Seth with dread.
God, he hoped the little “human” had survived, the place was a mess, if an Imp had gotten them… Seth shook his head and limped his way to the front of the cargo bay.  It didn’t take long to find Dr. Hayden’s special cargo, it was a large pallet covered in thick black fabric, on the fabric printed in white was what looked like a logo for a company or university. Seth knew Dr. Hayden had apparently gone to Harvard years ago, but the logo didn’t look like Harvard’s nor did it look like the old complex’s logo, the logo looked like a circle with an M, T, and U inside.
The fabric looked undamaged save for a small vertical cut at the base of the pallet, probably the rats. Actually, now that he thought about it that cut was very precise, did they make it?
Seth crouched down as much as his leg would allow and stuck his hand into the hole, feeling around he felt something… hairy? Feathery? Carefully Seth grabbed the foreign object and pulled it out. What he thought was one object was actually two, the larger feathery object was what appeared to be a vaguely bird shaped glider of sorts, it was broken. The other smaller object was a skinned mouse, its skull had been cleaned and turned into a mask of sorts judging by the straps at the back and twine securing the jawbones.
“These must also belong to them…” Seth mused. He didn’t want anyone else to find evidence of the small humanoid in case they’d do something inhumane, so he pocketed the evidence. Unfortunately, the supposed glider’s wings snapped further despite his best efforts to keep it intact.
As Seth got up from the floor, he put his hands on the covered crates and received a deathly cold chill the moment his hands touched the surface. He gave a small yelp of surprise at the freezing temperature of the box.
“I sure hope they aren’t sleeping in there… must be freezing,” He, said before getting to work looking for the tiny person in question.
——————————————————————————
Em was woken with a start as an announcement echoed across the cargo bay, something about an entity? She didn’t know, Em was still recovering from her violent awakening. Once she had calmed down, Em reached for her bag to retrieve her water bottle only to be greeted by empty air.
“No, no, nononono, Shit,” Em muttered to herself as she recalled the day before. She must have forgotten her bag during the escape… which meant that human probably had it now. Em felt hopeless, her only form of defense was now in the hands of a human. Who knows how long it’ll be until the cargo bay was crawling with humans looking for her.
Em tried to take some deep breaths to calm herself, but those breaths became more strained before they dissolved into sobs. Em cried for quite some time before she fell asleep again, her head was starting to ache and she felt to drained to do anything else. When she woke an alarm was blaring loudly across the ship causing her headache to pound in her head.
“ATTENTION ALL PERSONEL THE CARRIER IS UNDER ATTACK, REPEAT THE CARRIER IS UNDER ATTACK” The mechanical voice yelled. Em could smell a very pungent odor, it smelt like cleaning chemicals but she knew that wasn’t what it was. It was the same smell she had smelt when the Invasion began, and the same smell that had occurred before those corpses reanimated.
Demons.
Em began running for tarped crates she had hid her belongings in but was stopped when something large barreled into the crates beside her. A human had been tackled by a demon and was now laying lifelessly beneath it. Not wanting to be spotted, Em quickly backed away from the scene. As she backed away Em tripped over something and fell into a sticky substance.
Before she could even register what she had just done the metal bar of the trap swung down on their leg with a loud snap. Em yelled in pain but quickly slammed her hands over her mouth, remembering that there was a demon just around the corner. But it was too late, the snap of the trap had alerted the demon who now stared down at her with its bright yellow eyes.
Static ran down her spine and her vision began to blur as the demon stalked towards her, fresh blood still dripping from its mouth. It reached towards her with one of its bloodied hands but was stopped by a volley of blue plasma slamming into it. The demon staggered back and hissed before getting his with another round from behind.
The second attack was enough to melt the back of its head as the Imp soon collapsed smoke rising from the gaping hole in its skull. Em stayed silent as the humans cleared the room, they didn’t too hard for anything bigger than an Imp, Em was thankful for that. Though, a small part of her wished they had. Maybe then she’d be able to get out of the trap. She had tried after the soldiers left but it was no use, the trap was too strong and her attempts only made the pain worse.
Some time had passed, Em wasn’t sure it had been hours or minutes. An announcement had been made, apparently the Invasion was over and Em could hear people celebrating in the break room at the end of the bay. She huffed in annoyance as she listened to the cheering, at least some people were happy.
After a few more minutes Em felt her sense go off, the familiar static prickling down their spine. Looking out from her spot amongst the crates, Em saw a human walk by. It wasn’t just any human; it was the same one who had grabbed her the other day.
He hadn’t spotted her yet but she knew he was looking for her, the human had a pensive look on his face as he surveyed the room. Em needed to get out of here, now. Em grabbed the hammer of the trap and tried to lift it of her legs, the hammer raised just a little but not enough to get free. The hammer slipped from her hands and Em cried out in pain as the hammer slammed back down on her leg with a sickening crunch.
“Hmm?”
Em locked eyes with the human and began to whimper as he reached for her.

As we step into 2023, the secrets behind the latest advancements in medical spa treatments are being unveiled, offering a glimpse into the transformative technologies and techniques that are shaping the future of wellness and aesthetics.
Advanced Technology for Skin Rejuvenation
At the heart of medical spa advancements lie the remarkable technologies that are redefining skin rejuvenation. In 2023, treatments like fractional laser resurfacing and micro-needling with radiofrequency are gaining prominence. These techniques stimulate collagen production and promote skin cell turnover, resulting in smoother texture, reduced pigmentation, and diminished fine lines. The magic lies in the precision of these technologies, which target specific areas with minimal downtime and discomfort.
Nanotechnology: Beauty on a Microscopic Scale
One of the best-kept secrets of 2023's medical spa advancements is the integration of nanotechnology into skincare and treatments. Nanoparticles, smaller than skin cells, are being utilized to enhance the delivery of active ingredients deep into the skin. From rejuvenating serums to targeted treatments for acne and scars, nanotechnology allows for more efficient absorption and more pronounced results, unveiling smoother, clearer, and more radiant skin.
Thread Lifts: A Non-Surgical Facelift Solution
The pursuit of a youthful appearance has taken a fascinating turn with the rise of thread lifts. This minimally invasive procedure involves inserting dissolvable threads under the skin to lift and tighten sagging areas, providing a natural-looking lift without the need for surgery. In 2023, thread lifts have gained popularity due to their ability to deliver subtle yet significant results, making them a well-kept secret among those seeking non-surgical facelift solutions.
Virtual Consultations and Telemedicine
The digital age has left its mark on medical spa advancements, revealing a secret that is reshaping the way individuals access consultations and advice. Virtual consultations and telemedicine have become integral parts of the medical spa experience in 2023. Clients can now connect with skincare experts and medical professionals remotely, receiving personalized recommendations and treatment plans without having to step foot into the spa. This not only enhances convenience but also expands access to expert advice.
Integrative Wellness Programs
Wellness has transcended the boundaries of physical health, encompassing mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Medical spas in 2023 are embracing this holistic approach by offering integrative wellness programs. These curated experiences combine advanced treatments with mindfulness practices, meditation, and nutrition guidance. The secret lies in the harmonious balance these programs offer, addressing the interconnected nature of well-being.
Regenerative Hair Therapies
Hair restoration has taken a leap forward with the introduction of regenerative therapies in medical spas. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatments, combined with micro-needling or injections, stimulate hair follicles and promote growth. The secret behind the success of these therapies lies in harnessing the body's natural healing mechanisms to address hair loss and thinning, offering a discreet solution that boosts confidence.
Sustainable Beauty and Ethical Practices
In 2023, the secrets of medical spa advancements extend beyond treatments to encompass ethical practices and sustainability. Medical spas are increasingly adopting eco-friendly approaches, from using cruelty-free products to implementing waste reduction strategies. Clients are now privy to the secret of aligning their wellness journeys with their values, supporting establishments that prioritize both personal transformation and environmental well-being.
Mindful Aging: Embracing Graceful Transitions
A noteworthy secret within the medical spa landscape of 2023 is the shift toward embracing mindful aging. Clients are seeking treatments that enhance their natural beauty and allow them to age gracefully. Rather than attempting to reverse the passage of time, medical spas are offering treatments that highlight individual features and promote self-confidence at any age. The secret here is not to erase lines but to enhance the stories they tell.
In conclusion, the secrets of medical spa advancements in 2023 reveal a fascinating fusion of technology, wellness, and personalized care. From the utilization of nanotechnology to the integration of regenerative therapies and the embrace of sustainable practices, these secrets underscore the industry's commitment to holistic well-being and transformative experiences. As individuals seek the perfect blend of relaxation, rejuvenation, and innovation, medical spas stand as gateways to unveiling their most radiant and revitalized selves.

New Elixir for longer life
To keep himself alive longer, Sam Altman, CEO of artificial intelligence lab OpenAI, is taking a diabetes drug called metformin. OpenAI developed ChatGPT, a recently popular chatbot. Metformin is a decades-old drug prescribed by doctors to millions of people with diabetes.
Tumblr media
The World Health Organization lists this drug as an essential medicine that every strong modern healthcare system should have. In fact, Altman is not the only one who hopes to use this drug to make himself live longer. Many Silicon Valley “biohackers” take metformin as part of an antiaging regimen.
Some studies suggest the pills, which sell for about $0.10 to $0.20, can slow the effects of aging, reduce cognitive and vision loss, and protect against cancer and dementia. In addition to taking metformin, Altman says his anti-aging regimen includes “healthy eating, exercise and getting enough sleep.” This isn’t the first time he’s mentioned his health habits, having detailed his regimen in a 2018 blog post. He wrote at the time that he avoided sugar or any particularly spicy food
Because these foods can “worse” his digestion or cause inflammation. He drinks protein shakes, even though he “hates” them, and wakes up with a “big shot” of espresso. He also lifts weights three times a week and does occasional high-intensity interval training. In his blog post, he described it as an exercise program that made him “feel his best overall.” His sleep routine includes a “cold, dark, quiet room,” which he says improves sleep quality. If the room isn’t cold enough, he sometimes uses a chili pad. Whenever he suffered from insomnia, he took “low doses of sleeping pills” or “very low doses of marijuana”.
Tumblr media
When he gets sick or gets worse, he calls his mom, dermatologist Connie Gibstine. “I have to assure him that he doesn’t have meningitis or lymphoma, he’s just stressed out,” Gistine said in an interview. One day, his longevity efforts may include a treatment from the antiaging biotech company Retro Biosciences. The startup’s mission is to “extend healthy human lifespan by 10 years.”
The company uses genetic engineering and plasma exchange to make cells younger, according to MIT Technology Review. Altman has secretly invested $180 million in Retro Biosciences’ death-delaying therapy. He joins Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, and Twitter founder Jack Dorsey in investing in those working to extend lifespan. APPENDIX 1 Sanctions and Their Effects on Iraq BRIEF SUMMARY
August 6, 1990: United Nations Security Council passes Resolution 661, placing sanctions on Iraq to 'restore the authority of the legitimate government of Kuwait. (That government, 'legitimate' or not, was restored within months. By what criterion is restoration of monarchy ever 'legitimate'? The sheikhs of Kuwait were never required to offer themselves for electoral challenge or even referendum.)
April 5, 1991: UN Security Council passes Resolution 688 that 'demands that Iraq' end its repression 'of all Iraqi citizens. (By these standards, virtually every government in the world should have to face similar sanctions.)
May 20, 1991: President George H. Bush: 'At this juncture, my view is we don't want to lift these sanctions as long as Saddam Hussein is in power. (The declared policy of regime change is as old as that.)
September 24, 1992: The New England Journal of Medicine publishes the findings of Harvard researchers that 46,700 Iraqi children under five have died from the combined effects of war and trade sanctions in the first seven months of 1991.
May 12, 1996: On 60 Minutes, Lesley Stahl asks US Secretary of State Madeline Albright: 'We have heard that a half a million children have died. I mean, that's more children than died in Hiroshima. Is the price worth it?' Albright responds: 'I think this is a very hard choice, but the price… we think the price is worth it'.
October 4, 1996: United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) releases report on Iraq. 'Around 4,500 children under the age of five are dying here every month from hunger and disease', said Philippe Heffinck, UNICEF's representative for Iraq.
November 26, 1997: UNICEF reports that 'The most alarming results are those on malnutrition, with 32 per cent of children under the age of five, some 960,000 children, chronically malnourished - a rise of 72 per cent since 1991. Almost one quarter (around 23 per cent) are underweight - twice as high as the levels found in neighbouring Jordan or Turkey'.
April 30, 1998: UNICIF [sic] reports: 'The increase in mortality reported in public hospitals for children under five years of age (an excess of some 40,000 deaths yearly compared with 1989) is mainly due to diarrhea, pneumonia and malnutrition. In those over five years of age, the increase (an excess of some 50,000 deaths yearly compared with 1989) is associated with heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, cancer, liver or kidney diseases.
October 6, 1998: Denis Halliday, who had just resigned as the head of the 'oil-for-food' programme for Iraq, Assistant Secretary General of the UN, gives a speech on Capitol Hill, citing a 'conservative estimate' of 'child mortality for children under five years of age is from five to six thousand per month.
In 1995, the UN Food and Agriculture Organization concluded that the embargo and the military attacks on Iraq had been responsible for the deaths of more than 560,000 children. A UNICEF study reached a similar conclusion, finding that 500,000 children had died needlessly between 1991 and 1998.
Blocked by the US and UK governments, with UN connivance: vaccines, cancer-treatment equipment, pain-killers, plasma bags, food treatment equipment and myriad other items of medical need, over fourteen years, worth $5.4 billion as of July 2002.
Karl and John Mueller, writing in Foreign Affairs ('Sanctions of Mass Destruction', May/June 1999), concluded that the sanctions had killed more Iraqis than had been killed by 'all the weapons of mass destruction in human history.
