hey foster what the hell is kinnikuman about
Kinnikuman is the story of Japan's Worst Superhero turned Universal Savior, that also (by my current understanding) laid the foundations for what people think of when they think of "A Shonen Series".
It started in 1979 as a gag manga written by two college kids collectively known as Yudetamago who really love pro wrestling, and trucked along for a while doing one-off chapters about a "superhero" named Kinnikuman, who is actually the lost prince of Planet Kinniku (hold onto that for later). They introduce a couple supporting characters here, most notably Terryman (named for professional wrestler Terry Funk), a superhero from the Southern United States, who becomes friends with him after Kinnikuman does his first genuinely heroic act in the series: punching Terryman for charging a kid money to save his dad from a monster (this completely changes Terryman forever).
Sometime later, they hit the first actual story arc: the Superman (Chojin) Olympics, which is where the series first struck upon the winning formula of "what if a bunch of dudes with weird superpowers do professional wrestling moves on each other". It still has it's gag manga sensibilities- Kinnikuman winds up winning all of his matches via shenanigans- but in hindsight it's pretty clear they realized story arcs about tournaments are a really good idea.
After a short arc about Kinnikuman going on a world tour to defend his title (which the anime speedran because they knew what was up), they go back into the Chojin Olympics, which is where the series really seems to have found its footing by still being comedic, but also realizing they can get serious for more compelling action. For example:
Ramenman- a horrifically racist caricature of a savage Chinaman- goes from constantly talking about noodles and China's 4000 Year Tradition and how much he loves murder to forming a mentor-mentee relationship with the son of a chojin he murdered during the previous Olympics, before being put into a vegetative state by arc antagonist Warsman (he gets better). Important to note that Ramenman was and still is one of the most popular characters in this series, easily.
Warsman's manager is revealed to be Robin Mask, the former Chojin Olympics champion Kinnikuman defeated through shenanigans, and who trained Warsman with the specific purpose of getting revenge on Kinnikuman.
Kinnikuman then goes on to defeat Warsman, not with goofy antics, but tapping into his Burning Inner Strength (literally, a Hot Blooded Shonen Power Up) and inventing the Kinniku Buster, a move so cool that professional wrestlers in real life started using it.
And from this point it was basically off to the races with story arcs about a bunch of fucked up dudes who want to wrestle Kinnikuman and/or his friends, including:
Chojin who sold their souls to Satan for strength
Chojin who sold their souls to Satan for strength and stole the source of all Chojin strength in the universe
The source of all Chojin strength in the universe
Space God Chojin
Other Kinnikumans claiming to be the true heirs to the throne of Planet Kinniku (remember what I said about him being a lost prince)
This is when the original series ended, and then about a decade later they launched Kinnikuman Nisei, a Next Generation sequel about Kinnikuman's son. This is most notable for the 4Kids adaptation, Ultimate Muscle- especially seeing as subs for Kinnikuman Nisei basically don't exist, and a third season of episodes was produced specifically to be dubbed.
Years after that, Yudetamago relaunched Kinnikuman in 2011, taking place in the time between the end of the original series and Kinnikuman Nisei and even picking up the chapter/volume numbers, which is still ongoing and quite well received, and just recently started being adapted into a new anime series, the zeroth episode of which speedruns all the important bits from the original series (recapped above), notably leaning more towards action and drama than comedy.
I started checking it out after the new anime started up, and- unless I'm missing something that came before it, which is certainly possible- it's kind of crazy how foundational it feels to everything while not really feeling outdated (except for occasional contemporary-to-the-70's/80's-jokes). New villain(s) show up with some fucked up powers, the heroes have to muster their strength to either outwit or overpower them (or both), more than likely in some kind of tournament-style format, and more likely than not Kinnikuman will make some new friends along the way. In the same way that people often say that you don't know how much Japanese media has the DNA of tokusatsu/Kamen Rider until you actually watch it, Kinnikuman feels like that for Shonen Jump specifically.
I would actually heartily recommend the checking out new anime, again because that zeroth episode gets you primed with everything you need to know about the series and jumps right into "DUDES WITH FUCKED UP SUPERPOWERS WRESTLING".
Oh also critically important to note: that's not his face, it's a mask, and he's the the most beautiful, handsome man in history underneath, but by the laws of the Kinniku Clan neither he nor anyone else in his clan can show their face, which is why they all look Like That.

The Hispanic Fated Fighter
200 Size
Oh wow, so I while trying to work on the Face Portraits for my initial Kinniku Redraft works. Completely started on redoing my old Five Fated Princes, and I started with Mariposa. A guy who is a personal favourite of mine looks wise. One thing though I didn't like, and it's just a me thing and I recognise that was him living on space planet. So in my headcanon he was living in Mexico a good chunk in time after his birth. Then later he was sought out by the God of Flight. So I drafted out a personal headcanon look for what this version of him looked like, and then from there all his looks updated in my newer style. I have his red look being the one he rocks when doing the bad he does, and the Purple Looks being when he turns to the side of good and rejects the bad nature that took over him.

Yatai Stalls:Japanese Street Food :- Street food vendors are known as Yatai in Japan and while they can be seen in abundance at festivals.
The text written in those colorful nobari :
串だんご (Kushi-dango)
Dango is a Japanese sweet that has been loved by Japanese people for a long time. Dango is a dough made by adding water to powdered grains such as rice, rolling it up and steaming it. Currently, skewered dumplings are often recognized as so-called dumplings, but there are also dumplings that are not skewered. Dumplings flavored with soy sauce, miso, and soybean flour have long been popular among Japanese people. There are also dango called hanami dango and tsukimi dango, which are often seen at events and are said to bring good luck.
たこ焼 (Takoyaki)
Diced octopus encased in a light batter and rolled into a ball with spring onion and ginger and topped with green seaweed, sauce, sliced and dried bonito, and sometimes drizzled with mayonnaise. The exterior of a takoyaki ball is a nice golden brown while the interior can be a touch molten. A single order of takoyaki typically contains about eight balls that are topped with shaved bonito flakes (katsuobushi), aonori seaweed flakes and drizzled with mayonnaise and takoyaki sauce.
おでん (Oden)
"Oden" is very popular winter dish all over Japan, and each region has original taste, as Ozouni new year soup. Various kind of ingredients slowly simmered in flavorful dashi broth.
• Masks
Traditional Japanese masks (お面) are mostly decorative and can easily be found at festivals and shrine events. Masks have long played an important role in Japanese culture. Most of these masks are archetypes borrowed from mythology, ancient dances, or noh theater and military costume. Traditional masks are still used by theater actors or Shinto dancers. The most popular Japanese masks are often inspired by yokai; Supernatural Japanese creatures that appear in popular legends and beliefs. In Kabuki theater, they used makeup to embody characters such as demons or to translate expressions such as anger, feelings of sadness or rage on the faces. The Kabuki actors, as opposed to the Noh Theater, do not wear masks. The mask has also the function of hiding any individual traces of the actor. The fox mask is worn on the faces of many festival goers during Shinto ceremonies. Kitsune mask always using White colour based with red patterns. Inari Shrine had red colors everywhere included on the fox statues of the shrine. Most of the foxes serve Inari has white fur. In most of Japanese festival, Kitsune mask always using White colour based with red patterns. The mask of the fox used in Noh play or Kagura play is white. Kitsunes are believed to have from one to nine tails. The number of tails a kitsune has indicates its age and strength. Kitsunes can come in different colors but turn white or gold upon gaining their 9th tail. The Nine Tailed Fox, or Kyuubi no Kitsune, can hear and see everything that goes on around the world. They wear these (kitsune) masks, in order to attract good benefits and thus ensure a good harvest.
Here are the masks I identified from the panel above.
1. Ramenman in Kinnikuman series
The Japanese manga series Kinnikuman was written and illustrated by Yoshinori Nakai and Takashi Shimada, known as Yudetamago. The series follow Kinnikuman, a superhero who must win a wrestling tournament to retain the title of prince of Planet Kinniku. The manga was first published in Shueisha's magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump as a two one-shots in December 1978 and March 1979. The regular serialization started with the publication of the first chapter in the May 28, 1979 issue of Weekly Shōnen Jump, where it was serialized weekly until its conclusion in March 1987. Tatakae!! Ramenman is an alternate-universe and spin-off series to Yudetamago's previous work: Kinnikuman. It is focused around the character of Ramenman, who travels the land to fight various enemies. It was serialized in Shueisha's Fresh Jump magazine from 1982 until 1988.
2. Kamen Rider (1971 TV series)
Kamen Rider is a tokusatsu franchise created by manga creator Shotaro Ishinomori.
3. Chiaotzu in Dragon Ball
4. Sun Wukong
(The picture I'm using from Toriyama's bonus illustration featured in Dragon Ball's 6th volume)
In the novel, this headgear is something that binds sun wukong. Originally, he didn't wear it, but after following Tang Sanzang, that is, his master. At the beginning, he liked to kill some ordinary people without any spells. Tang Sanzang felt that his character was very bad, so there was a god, she called Guanshiyin Bodhisattva. This Bodhisattva also taught Tang Sanzang a formula. She used the temptation to make Monkey King wear a hat, and then the hat became this headgear, if Monkey King wanted to kill ordinary people.Tang Sanzang can recite formulas, and this headdress will shrink, giving Monkey King a headache and unable to use any spells. @dob-siki thank you for the information!!!
5. Hyottoko mask
Hyottoko means this facial expression or a mask with this funny face. It's a man. The pouting bent expression of his mouth is very significant. The size of the left and right eyes can be different too. In the mask or the person, who wears the mask often puts Japanese cotton towel (Tenugui) around the head. This character originally came from ancient traditional Japanese dance called Bugaku. The face of this character is an old man playing a funny and ridiculous role. He saw a beautiful couple dancing beautifully and admired and appreciated their dancing while drinking a lot of sake. He was very impressed and tried to dance like that with his wife. But they were too drunk and too old to dance gracefully, so their "dance" turned out to be very funny and awkward. There are many different stories about Hyotoko in Japan. The name Hyottoko came from Hi-Otoko (fire man). He is blowing air through a hollow bamboo stick to make fire. And his expression is showing how hard he is trying. His mouth is also known to resemble sake bottle. Hyottoko masks are commonly used during traditional Japanese dances in order to bring good luck.
I don't know whether the following findings are correct or wrong.
6. Lokai in Star Trek : Let That Be Your Last Battlefield (1969)
This is what came to my mind when I saw white on the right side and black on the left side.

BNHA Observations, speculations and assorted info: Aldera Middle School
So, in order to write my fic, I spend much time observing canon scenes, comparing the manga and the anime version, take note of details, translations and info in them as well as finding out how are some things called.
Also, due to my series of observation posts on Chap 1 [Ep 1-2] and Chap 2-4 [Ep 3-4] as well as the one in work, I ended up paying close attention also to things that won't show up in my fic.
Since what I noticed/speculated/found out can be of use for other fic authors I thought to share as well.
Resources:
Chap. 1 “Midoriya Izuku: Origin” (緑谷出久:オリジン Midoriya Izuku: ORIGIN) Chap. 2 “Roaring Muscles” (うなれ筋肉 Unare Kinniku) Chap. 5 “Smashing into Academia” (はりさけろ入学 Harisakero Nyūgaku)
Ep. 1 “Midoriya Izuku: Origin” (緑谷出久:オリジン Midoriya Izuku: ORIGIN) Ep. 3 “Roaring Muscles” (うなれ筋肉 Unare Kinniku) Ep. 5 “What I Can Do for Now” (今僕に出来ることを Ima Boku ni Dekiru Koto o)
OBSERVATIONS, SPECULATIONS AND ASSORTED INFO:
Midoriya and Bakugō's middle school is Aldera middle school (折寺中学校 Aldera chūgakkō). As middle schools generally have the name of the ward they're in, Aldera is probably in the Aldera ward.
The name comes from Aldera, the capital city of the planet Alderaan in “Star Wars”. It was ruled by Queen Breha Organa and represented in the Galactic Senate by her husband, Senator Bail Prestor Organa, They were Princess Leia’s adoptive parents. The planet played a pivotal role in the establishment of the Rebel Alliance against the Empire and was destroyed under Princess Leia Organa’s gaze. Aldera used to host the University of Alderaan, a renowned university with a successful philosophy of isolation to allow students to contemplate their studies.
This is how the school presents itself on the outside.
As you can see the manga version of the school and the anime version are slightly different, the anime adding a central part with a watch on top of it.
We get to see how's Midoriya's class.
From this perspective the class seems more or less the same in both versions. If I've to pick a difference it's that on the left in the anime there seems to be another blackboard, while in the manga it's a window, as in Japanese schools there are often windows that give on the school corridor so people walking in the corridor can see what's going on in the class. The light also might be slightly different.
By the way, all desks are arranged facing towards the teacher, who is expected to be at the front of the classroom because that's how Japanese classrooms are typically arranged, so as to allow the student to better see what the teacher writes on the provided blackboard also at he front of the class;, or just to listen to him.
The teacher doesn't have a desk but a lectern (which is also the standard in Japan) and, on the top of the blackboard behind him, there's a speaker, which is used to warn students about emergencies and other things.
The anime also added a watch.
In the anime the class is shown to have a heater under the window and the windows are parted by a column.
The same doesn't seem to be true for the manga.
The students leave from the door that's at the end of the classroom.
Let's give a look outside the window...
...and below it we can see a pool of water with koi fishes.
We also see a corner outside in which Bakugō threatens Midoriya.
Something else we see is the 'shokuin shitsu' (職員室 "staff room"), a designated area within a school where teachers and staff gather.
It has more than one purpose for them, it works as a work places in which the teacher can grade papers, prepare lessons, and conduce meetings with students and parents or school administration or other people from the staff. It is equipped with desks, chairs, and often computers, but it's the place in which the teachers can also collaborate, sharing resources, and discussing student progress. It's also in this room teachers place supplies, teaching materials, and resources teachers might need for their classes.
The room however isn't used just to work but also to have a break as here teachers can relax, have lunch, and socialize with colleagues (it can even contain a refrigerator, microwave, and a coffee machine!).
We only get to meet two teachers, the 'tannin sensei' (担任先生 “Homeroom teacher” lit. “teacher in charge (of the class)”).
The Tannin follows a class through its whole permanency at school and are responsible for every aspect of the student’s total education, working also as counselor and therapist for them, organizing school trips and experiences, informing them of school activities and school problems and even visiting their parents. Long story short they’re supposed to establish a strong bond with their students.
Among the duties of the ones in charge of a third year middle school class there’s to hand out 'Shinro kibō no PRINT’ (進路希望のプリント “Career aspirations form”) in which the students are meant to write the high school at which they aspire to attend and therefore for which they aim to try the entrance text exam and he’s also expected to help them choosing a high school if they’re unsure.
And then we've this guy.
I'm not sure what he's teaching as he talks with the students about the building standard act (建築基準法 ‘kenchiku kijun-hō’), which is the one that, in Japan, stipulates minimum standards for the site, facilities, structure, and use of buildings in order to protect the lives, health, and property of the people.
Other things worth being noticed are that, since this part of BNHA was written in 2014, both manga and anime shows a teacher hitting Midoriya.
This because Japan had a mixed attitude toward corporal punishment, technically forbidding it with a law dated 1947, only to have in 2007 a ministerial guideline issued to public schools suggesting that some forms of physical punishment may be permitted in some circumstances. Long story short corporal punishment continued until in 2020, a law was amended to explicitly and clearly state that all forms of corporal punishment against children are strictly prohibited... though there's still a good part of the population that thinks corporal punishment is actually a good thing.
That's likely why in 2014/2016 manga and anime didn't feel uncomfortable depicting a teacher hitting a student.
We also see how both teachers, with their words, subtly encourage the students to mock Midoriya's dream, the homeroom teacher doing nothing when Bakugō jumps on Midoriya, while instead he allows Bakugō to keep his feet on the desk.
Bakugō being a student who could manage to attend U.A. high would bring prestige to Aldera Middle School, hence likely why he gets a pass. Midoriya taking part to the exam quirkless and failing it would instead ridiculize the school, that's why the teacher also try to encourage his classmates to 'discourage' him.
That’s because in Japan “bullying” (いじめ 'ijime’) has been handled for years as an 'educative strategy’ that would force the students to conform. 'Deru kui wa utareru’ (出る杭は打たれる “The nail that sticks out must be hammered down”).
Moving to the students the boys wear a standard ‘Gakuran’ (学ラン), a school uniform, while the girls wear a black ‘sailor fuku’ (セーラー服).

chapter one
Suguru grumbled sulking as if he were a child, being scolded. “All that Gyudon gone to waste” he muttered clearly not happy, His large fingers pressed deeply into his head, almost threatening to break it with the amount of pressure he was using. Amongst all of Suguru’s groaning he didn’t hear the girly snickers from above him, before a torso hung low from the ceiling. Scaring the young prince, as the color drained from his face.
It was a teenage girl who was clearly a teen. They had dark blonde hair with red tips(both of these seemed to be clearly dyed) that had been badly curled at the bottom frying it. her hair was let loose, but had multiple layers. She wore a white button up shirt, with a gold crest on it being the symbol of a rose., A gray skort, tights, paired with white Leg warmers and had a blazer wrapped around her waist
Suguru let out a loud high pitched scream that made the teenager cringe, her ears hurting at the loud frequency. “Delinquent!” Shouted Suguru as he shook in terror, a yellow spot appearing on his white underwear. Making the girl Gag, turning her head quickly.
“Eww! Disgusting!” The girl squealed, dropping off the ceiling? And somehow landing on her two feet. Suguru shook as he backed away from the girl, pleading with her not to hurt him, causing her to roll her olive coloured eyes clearly annoyed at him.
“Are you Suguru? I’m Mitsuki by the way” Mitsuki asked, before introducing herself to the man-baby, she was about to offer him her hand until he blew snot all over his own hands before he freaked out and began to shake his arms in the air, trying to throw it off of him.
“Disgusting, utterly disgusting” She muttered to herself, she was surprised when Suguru suddenly stood up, his back straightened acting as if he were the most respected man in the world. “Yes! It is me! Kinniku Suguru! Aka Kinnikuman! Awesome hero, and a prince! The future King of Kinniku Planet” The chojin boasted before he began to pose.
The Gyaru, raised an eyebrow before she got something out of her pocket, they were sweets, the chewy kind. They unwrapped it, before quickly swallowing it whole without chewing. Suguru sweatdropped at this. “You’re a weirdo, you’re supposed to chew your food, not swallow it like a snake!”
“Why would I listen to you? You literally just peed your pants-” She threw another sweet in her mouth, swallowing it before licking her lips. Suguru shivered, she really did remind him of a snake. The piercing she gave him, like a snake that looked at Mice before it pounced. The fact she could just swallow the sweets too, and didn’t need to chew, sure they were just weird quirks but it felt so off.
Suguru began to stare at her more, something didn’t make sense even to him. She didn’t Look like a chojin, but the way she acted was definitely off! And the more Suguru wondered, the more he realized, how the hell did she get back here? Normally Suguru would use these hallways to run away from Meat when things got tough. Their hallways were all twisted, long, and branched off so it was perfect. But how did she get here? She didn’t seem rich, she was a school kid for god sake. Suguru figured she must have snuck in.
“You do know this is the backstage for the elite of the elite right?”
“Then why are you here?”
Ouch. Even a delinquent like Mitsuki, didn’t even seem to respect Suguru.Suguru, Sulked sitting in the corner of the room, his knees to his chest. How could Mitsuki not even know that he was a good fighter? Surely his face had to have been plastered everywhere? And yet Mitsuki didn't seem to care about that, as their face tightened, their lips turning into a scowl as they rolled their eyes. They didn’t want to be near him any more.
Suguru titled his head up giving a small “huh?” as he watched her turn around and walk away, seemingly ignoring his very existence. Now that was strange. Oh well, he didn’t expect to see more of them anyway.
hope you guys enjoyed the first chapter! any question’s feel free to ask! hoping to post more of my ocs soon

Personal headcanon: Bibimba wanted Mantaro to learn Russian because of her bond with Warsman, and so he did (even though he doesn't remember how to speak it properly) xD - Cristy ;)
That's an interesting headcanon!
It also brings up an interesting point about language in the series, especially as Japanese seems to be the lingua franca in their universe, and Planet Kinniku the ruling force over most chojin.
I've seen it argued that there's a 'chojin' language, which the characters use, but there's too much evidence that discredits this (at least in the sense that it's the language being used by the characters within the manga). We do see that Planet Kinniku seems to have its own language (in some of their written texts), and yet they communicate fine with other chojin among Earth.
It seems to imply everyone is speaking Japanese, with most learning it as a second language to communicate; we see characters like Terryman using English, characters like Jesse Maivia discussing difficulties in switching languages, and know those like Robin Mask speak their native tongues at home. Warsman also was told to speak Russian at one point by Kevin Mask, implying he was speaking either English or Japanese at that point in question.
All of this is a long way of asking:
How do they pick which languages to learn?
It's typically clear they're speaking Japanese, through a lot of various pieces of evidence (not least because they say that is what they're speaking, or that they read things in Japanese, or speak to native Japanese speakers that wouldn't know alien languages like those of Planet Kinniku, and others have accent quirks or use their native tongue when speaking Japanese as a second language).
Like, is it just a case of what's useful or what's culturally relevant to them? Sort of like with humans? If Japanese is what's universally used for chojin, is this also the case with humans? Like, is Japan one of the most important countries, as opposed to say America in real-life? I do wish it was explored more, especially with characters in a group setting; some sharing a tongue, and others not, like whether they could 'whisper' in a shared tongue to hide information.
With Mantaro in specific -!
It'd probably be pretty useful to him, especially if he could remember, because Robin Mask seems to speak fluent Russian, and I imagine Kevin Mask would have picked up bits of it, too. It would give him a lead in knowing what they were saying, during training and during matches, and not to mention against any Russian opponents. Plus, it's so cute to imagine him competing against Kevin Mask, by speaking Russian to 'Uncle Warsman' XD We know he's close with Ramenman, so why not Warsman or others, too?

Kinnikuman arc 1 the kaiju extermination arc reveiw
well this was a while coming it would've been done sooner but then the pokemon DLC happened so that aside lets talk about Kinnikuman the super hero wrestling manga written by duo Takashi shima and Yoshinori Nakai under the pen name Yudetamago or Yude for short so lets get into it
and since there's no real plot lets start with our title character
Kinniku Suguru or Kinnikuman is the prince of planet Kinniku and main character of this manga and if your expecting a Kenshiro esc bad ass I have bad news for you cus Suguru is a loud ignorant asshole who uses his farts as propulsion to fly hell the first chapter of the manga goes out of its way to make sure you know that in a pinch this is the last guy you want to save you but while Yude made sure you knew how far Suguru would sink in his envy of other hero's they also made sure you knew what lines he wouldn't cross he wont refuse to help someone just because they cant pay and even took mercy on a young kaiju once he’s not the ideal hero but he has a good heart that just some encouragement to come to the surface and for him to do the right thing
Alexandria Meat introduced in chapter 3 of the manga Meat is the boy genius assistant to the Suguru I was surprised by Meat in this arc as he is something of a smart ass I suppose after reading the revival and nisei mangas I forgot he was a bit of a smart ass in the first arc he serves as a of a straight man to Sugurus whacky antics but at times can be just as silly as the young prince tho later arcs he would be cemented into his straight man role he also had a crush on the preschool teacher Mari but its not given much attention nor is Meat really I only finished the first arc a few days ago and I cant remember any stories where he was the focal character and I cant find anything about a Meat story in my notes that said said smart ass Meat and wish he had that energy nisei
Terry....Funk? regardless Terryman is the best friend of Suguru introduced in chapter 7 the man from America which I will talk about in a moment as I think its the best chapter of the first arc Terry is introduced as someone who will only save people from kaijus for money but after he meets Suguru he changes his ways while he still wants to pay rent he wont refuse people who cant pay him Terry doesn't make to many appearance's in the first arc but when he does he keeps his demeanor of a cool level headed cowboy he also has relationship with one of the very few prominent female characters in this franchise Natsuko Terry just like Meat would play bigger roles in latter arcs but at least he has the best chapter of the first arc as his introduction so lets talk about that now since every other character in this arc either plays bit roles or doesn't have much of a presence I mean what can I say about Mayumi beyond he’s kind of a shit dad and can only cook rice and curry
Chapter 7 a man from America
This is without any word of a lie the best chapter of the first arc its funny has a nice conflict and does a good job of showing what our hero Suguru is all about as well as having a nice arc for Terry in its 28 pages if I ever try to get someone into Kinnikuman ill show them this chapter as it does a great job of showing you what Kinnikuman is all about I’d also recommend chapter it was also redrawn by Yude last year and the difference between their original art style and current style is night and day that said I suppose I should comment on the art
The art is very basic compared to their current style but thats not bad as it works for Kinnikumans gag manga roots while I much preferer their current style but their old style isn't bad by any means it just takes a bit of getting used to after reading their current style for over 200 chapters now
In conclusion I over all liked the kaiju extermination arc it may not be on my list of favorite arcs but id be lying if I said there aren't some gems in the first 27 chapters of this mammoth series not just a man from America as their are plenty of heat warming and funny moments in the first arc I didn't talk about here but if your not good with reading monster of the week stories then id recommend the anime as the first arc is only 6 episodes there but that said please join me next time as Kinnikuman steps foot in the wrestling wring for the first time in the chojin Olympics arc

But with those who love, she can be truly unique.
She is strong and possesses great skills as a fighter, thanks to the training of her father Ataru.
Unlike her sister, that she doesn’t like, she loves to fight and make herself useful as Seigi chōjin.
Her best friend is Brianna, the younger sister of Terry the Kid.
Together they are a perfect duo, except for the various disagreements.
But in the techniques and in the fights they would form a deadly tag.
CLOTHES AND ACCESSORIES
Michiko wears a mask, like every member of Kinniku dinasty.
She too, like her father Ataru, has the power of Face Flash, which is why she absolutely must not take off her mask, in addition to the fact that she would be forced to kill herself if she exposed her face publicly.
Michiko's suit is inspired by that of her cousin Mantaro.
She made it similar in his honor, just like his combat mask.
She wears brown boots up to the calf similar to those of the cousin.
She has her hair perpetually loose and when she wears the other mask, a tuft comes out of a hole in her forehead.
Her eyes are dark brown, almost black.

I also love dear girls stories too!! Wakabamatsu is real, Harold!!! 💚💛
Do you ever just sit and listen to a playlist of DGS recordings and listen to Kamiya and OnoD having fun and laughing about simple things, it’s honestly the most cleansing experience on the planet.
I listened to a few Nakamura/OnoD recordings as well (FOR THAT KINNIKU), the one where they talk about going shopping together is my favourite, idk if you’ve heard it. (You should all listen to it btw, it’s SO GOOD: https://youtu.be/ZCHLf5ITgrE )
It’s cute because OnoD is older than Nakamura and hearing Kara constantly refer to Jyushi with respectful honorifics is joyous~

The Australian Fated Fighter
200 Size
So unlike Mariposa and Zebra, I actually had no interest in altering Phoenix’s pretransformation look at all. In Fact I didn’t even sprite it. Maybe at some point I will just for completion sake. For me I do think it is cool him actually growing up in a poor area of Planet Kinniku that has some Australian feel to it. I actually in my head find the idea of Planet Kinniku having a few different areas of it having some infusion of other countries' cultures into them as an intriguing idea. Like a German-esque area, a French one, and so on. Not too many though, but just enough to add unique flavor overall to the planet as a whole. With that, enjoy the sprite. Not many left to go.

18.10 worst anime you have watched
Enjoy this salty af list! Also, don’t expect my opinion to change any even with your persistence on why so and so is good! It won’t happen. (Btw, I’ll put another chunk of the list if this gets sent again! I just, limited it to three because I have too much to say.)
Number 10: Ultimate Muscle (AKA Kinnikuman) follows Suguru Kinniku, a superhero who must win a wrestling tournament to retain the title of prince of Planet Kinniku. Sounds funny and unique huh? Well, to a young viewer (and I do mean really young), it was! For me? I just couldn’t get into that sort of humor and none of the characters within the show sparked any interest because they looked...too weird. I mean, com’on, one of the wrestlers is a literal ass. I wish I was joking.
You’re welcome for that horror show. Number 9: Power Puff Girls Z as a die-hard fan of the American Power Puff Girls, I was excited to learn about a Japanese series based on it! To my surprise, the art was the only thing good about the show. At least to me, anyhow. The characters steer too far away from how they originally act and they adorn new speech ticks. I couldn’t stand how they changed my favorite villain; Mojo Jojo!
Number 8: Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid
I used to love this series because of quirky one character was; Sasuke Sagara. Living the military life style since his wee childhood, he’s always stiff and on alert! He also has no idea how to act when shoved in a normal High School to protect one particular student. Most their interactions, this student and this whacky military guru often results in hilarious social awkwardness situations. Now if only they left the show at that instead of straying from the golden basic story line. In the second season, The Second Raid, they focus on the many other characters you know next to nothing about that are somehow related to Sagara’s team. It also turns into a frequent spastic battlefield that has no chill and relies on gaining interest through shock value only.

"Wait a goddamn. Ultimate Muscle is real?"
"The tales of Kinniku Suguru, Kinnikuman, are heard in various forms of media across the universe. He's one of the strongest vigilante heroes to live. His final match against Kinnikuman Super Phoenix in the match for throne succession happened just recently.... depending on what degree of the speed of light you travel to Planet Kinniku to."

Hey, guys, I come with a new “rivalry” in my game idea, Shonen Jump vs. Capcom: Heroes United. This time, I am giving the grappler symphony with Mike Haggar from Final Fight for Team Capcom, and Suguru Kinniku, aka Kinnikuman or King Muscle, from Kinnikuman for Team Jump.
I originally contemplated Alex from Street Fighter III as the grappler for Team Capcom, but I chose to go with Haggar since he and Suguru share a few more similarities for sure; both govern in different ways, with Mike being the mayor of Metro City, while Suguru is a king for Planet Muscle, plus both have been pro wrestlers in their glory days before they governed, but both still can fight if need be.
And both do some crazy moves with Mike having moves like his Double Lariat and Spinning Piledriver, while Suguru has moves like the Kinniku Buster and Muscle Spark, so seeing the two in the ring so to speak either as tag team partners or rivals would be epic :)

Why are you saying all of a sudden that Mantaro doesn't speak English?
It's most likely true.
I will defer to Cristy or Josh, who have excellent memories in regards to the source, but - to my knowledge - there is nothing that indicates Mantaro is fluent (or even proficient) in English.
We have to first consider his grades, at the age of fourteen, where a 25% mark on a test was considered an improvement, and also the fact that Planet Kinniku appears to have its own language (indicated by their literature having its own written system). The lingua franca in the series is also Japanese (made clear many times throughout), and Mantaro is stationed within Japan. We also can't forget that his father (at the start of the manga) also spoke no English.
The canon series - especially if we include the extended universe, such as Deep of Muscle - speaks of the various languages a lot, which even includes characters like Duke Kamata and Jesse Maivia discussing their various fluencies in English/Japanese and switching between the two languages respectively. We also have characters like Terryman who will speak in English as opposed to Japanese in the original source text, such as "OK" and various small expressions.
Yudetamago are staunch Anglophiles, and I do suspect this is why characters like Terryman and Robin Mask are so developed as they are, and why they became fast favourites to the duo. It's also interesting that the "main" cast of Nisei are almost all English speakers, too; Seiuchin (Ireland), Gazelleman (Tazania), Kid (America), and Kevin and Chloe (English). It indicates to me that if Yudetamago wanted Mantaro to have some connection to the language, it would have been easy to slip this in at some point.
It's not impossible that Mantaro would have learned some over the course of the series . . . it's just that his friends seem to only speak Japanese to one another, at least around Mantaro and Meat, and that the lingua franca of the Justice Chojin (maybe of Earth, too) is Japanese. Mantaro is also from a non-Anglo culture, moving to a non-Anglo culture, and - until Demon Seed - shows no interest in studying/learning outside what we saw in the prologues (I do have a theory about this, but the likelihood is the prologue is prone to the constant retcons that take place in the rest of the series).
It's something I've said since Day One.
I've been in a discussion with another user, who argued for a "universal" chojin language, and - while I concede there may be a similar concept among the alien planets - there seems to be a very strict canon that on Earth everyone speaks their native languages and then engages in Japanese in a group environment (with possible exceptions, but due to the 'translator convention' we can't be certain unless it has been explicitly stated, which I'm not sure is the case).
