And after working with the Astray Blue Frame Second Revise, here is the result. The plastic quality is not really something I would want to handle again. Texture is a little rough and uneven, sometimes, too thin, sometimes too thick and all I can say os my fingertips hurt, a lot, seriously. Molding issues here and there, eye stickers wont stay, and fitting issues on this kit is horrible. I had to glue some parts in order to avoid letting them fall off. Some stuff, I needed to trim in order to fit. Pegs have issues, big time. This is one of the reasons why I no longer want to buy bootleg kits. But they're so cheap that I can practice on them before doing anything crazy on my Bandai kits. Of course, results are different, effort should be made in order to make the bootleg kit look good, while Bandai kits usually look good out of the box. Still, it was a fun learning experience and I'll probably go through it again since I decided to get all the BT model Liger Zero Zoids soon. Urgh, the thing I do for my hobby. Continuing my GunPla build of this month (well, probably for this month and next), I decided to work on it today since tomorrow is another holiday and I don't have anything to read, to edit, and check. I figured I should just continue working since the nubs could be worked with my Xacto blade and careful handiwork. So far, I'm almost done with the chest unit and I'm working on the thrusters. I'll probably continue with the head and arms depending on my pace since I also have to keep on working on my manuscript. I jeep on putting it off since I was once convinced that it would not get any readership. But I guess I'm always proven wrong by my friends who actually believe that I can write. Oh well, we'll see if I can finish this year. Despite having blunt side cutters, I couldn't help myself and I went ahead building the Duel Assault Shroud. And so far, with the help of a fresh Xacto blade, I was able to pull off a rather clean yet mediocre start. I have the tendency to scratch some parts while working or perhaps it not really about the tools but the gate placing. I noticed a lot of bad nubs all over and if you don't have really nice and sharp tools, you will really have a bad build. So far it's coming together nicely but I really have to stop halfway because of how bad the build is becoming. It's been a while since I decided to do warm soapy water wash plastic sprues before building the kit. Well, it's not really a necessary step but since I'll probably be using tamiya panel line accent colors or Pour-type gundam marker, it is best to remove any residue from the parts to ensure that the paint and details will stick properly. I'm now air drying them and probably be ready by tomorrow but I'll have to wait until next week, until I get a new side cutters before I can actually start building. My Nanye cutter is now blunt somehow and leaves white streaks of stress marks unlike before. Probably because I used it to cut some thick sprues rather than the gate of the parts of the Astray Red Frame. One of my older builds. MG Buster Gundam by Daban Model. I'm not happy with this kit. A total wreck of a kit😫😣. When I first built this back in 2016, the V-fin antenna broke which eventually lead me to buying Tamiya cement products and learned plastic model repair. The year after, one joint (the ball joint that connects the 350mm Gun Launcher Anti Armor Shotgun to the connector arms) broke and I had to do all sorts of glueing and plastic cementing before it got it right. And now, while doing this shoot, the side skirt armor that has a connected piece for the connector arms broke. Perhaps it's true that plastic products do get brittle but this is insane. They even rarely gets exposed to sunlight let alone moisture. This is exactly why I decided to go back to buying Bandai products instead. Still, it was a fun, no matter frustrating, build and experience. I learned a lot from building these bootleg kits. I'm really confident I'll be able to make my Bandai kits look better. O was tightening up some joints and I messed up. I applied too much glue on the peg that the female peg cracked. No I screwed up the left shoulder just because the joints were loose for my liking (they weren't really loose). I tried fixing it with glue but it keeps on cracking. Perhaps I should let it cure for quite some time? Maybe I'll do that and let the kit rest for a week. Good thing this is just a practice build and the real deal isn't with me yet. I am still getting the Bandai Astray Red Frame and Blue Frames once I have enough funds. I just hope I still have time to work on them next month. Next week will be the last week of summer term and 2nd week of August will herald the new academic calendar. And because it's a long weekend for people studying and working in Manila city, I was able to finish my HG Gundam Bael. Typical gundam frame. Great articulation, simple to plain color scheme, almost bare of accessories except for the Bael swords and A little brittle white plastic. I'm not sure what happened but after building and some posing, the armor on the left side of the chest unit had a small crack. I'll probably fix it with thin cement later but my ultimate gripe on this kit is the loose waist joint; too loose that sometimes the whole upper part just falls off everytime I try to pose it. Probably just this particular kit since I noticed the mold of the polycaps aren't too clean so that might be it. Still, great kit all together. I'll probably start panel lining my recent builds tonight before sleeping and clean them tomorrow morning.
