In your Patroclus champion AU, how did he end up there as compared to the canon? I’d be interested about his general attitude as well, since in canon he’s very subdued (presumably from what he’s been through and his sips from the Lethe). Did he care about being champion before Zagreus came along, or was it just something to do and make him feel somewhat alive again?

- what comes to define manjiro in his later years is guilt. experiencing so much loss at such an impressionable age has scarred him to such a degree, where mikey's afraid to have anyone closer than at an arms length.

- you're unlucky in this way. where mikey will be sure to have you locked up and kept under a watchful eye, he'll also refuse to strenghten any lasting bond.

- but this relationship won't come to last. at some point mikey will open all of his heart to you, although it's a painstaking process to have him trust that you won't dissappear at any given moment.

- you'll be damned to think that mikey will loosen your restraints, at this point. when he's let his heart go glip, you can kiss any dream of freedom goodbye.

haruchiyo ‘sanzu’ akashi: possessive + obsessive (w. clingy traits.)

- sanzu wants to eat you alive.

- he's loyal as a dog, which is quick to turn suffocating. incredibly eager to serve, sanzu will stop at nothing to have you satisfied.

- unfortunately, this does not mean he puts your actual wants into consideration.

- instead, haruchiyo uses this so-called 'intuition' to bring out vicious massacres in your honor, vowing to have you shielded from this cruel, cruel world.

kakucho: overprotective.

- kakucho adores you.

- out of any bonten excecutive, you are the most likely to actually build a bond with kakucho, one that won't stem from fear. in spite of this, your free will is scarce.

- kakucho has lost the only person whom he would've actually considered his friend, and this means that you will forever stand as a the only worthy placeholder for izana, someone who kakucho was to protect at all times.

- you differ from izana, however, where kakucho knows that you are weak in comparison to him. you are unfit for the life kakucho has sucked you into, exerting no strength that his late king carried.

takeomi akashi: possessive + self-indulgent.

least likely to have you abducted.

- because of takeomi’s hedonistic tendencies, he cares very little for how you go around your daily life, as long as you return to him when he wishes.

- of course that doesn’t mean takeomi’s entirely uncaring, as he’ll have his most trusted subordinates keeping track of your every move.

- takeomi expects your outmost loyalty, and you’d be stupid to think that this means you’re allowed to run around with anyone other than him.

kanji ‘mocchi’ mochizuki: overprotective.

- mocchi likes to believe he is honorable.

- similar to kakucho, he does actually desire an actual bond with you, one where you'll be happy to stay by his side, without the unnecessary force.

- he'll come to find this difficult, however. where kakucho is able to be effortlessly kind and giving with you, you'll most likely be intimated by mocchi's imposing physique, and rough personality.

- although mocchi might find himself dissappointed when you're hiding from him, he'll do his damndest to have you comfortable; all while fighting off the urge to have you forcibly submit to him.

ran haitani: possessive + self-indulgent. (w. clingy traits.)

- where ran stands different from takeomi, is that he’s possessive to a much more personal level.

- takeomi perceives you as something akin to a pet, but ran can somewhat appreciate you as a human being.

- this does not mean that he’ll take your feelings in consideration, however. what this belief extends to are your opinions of him, and ran will make sure that he will occupy your mind, as much as you do his.

- ran is smothering. wherever he goes, you go. unfortunately for you, ran doesn’t go anywhere, most of the time.

rindou haitani: possessive + controlling.

- rindou believes he owns you.

- being so used to having to share the spotlight with his older brother, rindou quickly comes to find that the world splits in two; what is his and what is ran’s.

- and you best believe that when it comes to you, you’re his.

- because of this skewed belief, rindou views you as an extension of himself, believing he would only be right to exert total control of your every action.

- rindou is quick to turn controlling, meticulous in making you understand that you are his.

hajime kokonoi: over-protective + manipulative.

- similar to mikey, kokonoi's biggest fear comes from loss.

- he'll spend years chasing after someone who's long gone, looking for the gust in the wind that is akane, or in the very least a convincing enough lookalike.

- it's likely he'll find you in this search, but where you will differ, is as much more than a simple solace.

- unlike with mikey, you are given the illusion of choice with kokonoi. koko is manipulative as he is overprotective, willing to have you believe you are able to leave at any point, when you have already been spun into his web.

the tragedy of jean vicquemare's character is that he's written to be forgotten, be it out of spite or consequence. he's there as a placeholder for people harry elevates to godhood, perpetually stuck as a false prophet. he remembers the best and the worst of him as he recounts those moments that sound like static to him. most of his actions for harry happen where he doesn't see them, or are dissolved in the alcoholic bender that makes him lose his memories, rendering them null. he ceases to exist as soon as he's out of harry's sight, the person he knew is no longer there which he can't seem to accept and so, he perceives harry's act of living a life without him as a betrayal, even if the latter didn't intend for it to come out that way.

CYN AND UZI:

Cyn is incredibly pessimistic and anti-social, only speaking to her older brother Neo. She adapted this personality in an attempt to ward off those who bothered her, but instead it just encouraged more bullying from peers. Cyn has a much more sensitive and polite side, but is usually masked under wittiness and coldness.

Uzi retained her canon personality up until being thrown out and becoming a zombie drone/solver creation. She maintains her rebellious nature but in a more subtle and dull manner. Before her incident she actually got along well with the others, but afterwards they all became distant and wary.

VANESSA AND SERIAL DESIGNATION T:

Vanessa has a similar personality to past V in canon, but is a bit more spiteful and more eccentric about drones. Every time she “geeks out” is shut down by her parents, hence where the spitefulness came in. Sometimes she’d have drones purposely mess up to get back at her parents. Despite that, Vanessa treats the drones well and tries not to favor one over the other. She too is wary of Uzi, but still tries to be nice to her.

T has the personality of canon Tessa, both before becoming a disassembly drone and after. Once becoming a disassembly drone she acted a little more hyper and quirky. While it comes off as annoying to the other two disassembly drones, she still is a valued teammate. She tends to act nervous around those superior to her.

NEO AND SERIAL DESIGNATION D:

Neo is Cyn’s older brother. Their parents died while they were young, and that event lead Neo to becoming vengeful and cold. It also lead to him thinking T killed their parents. Neo is overprotective of his sister and the only one she’s comfortable around. He has the capability to care and love, but that’s a privilege only a certain few will get.

D is quiet, keeping to herself mostly. But of the three, she’s the most strategic. Her quietness is due to being in constant thought of what’s next, which made her a bit out of touch with the other two disassembly drones. D is still Russian, and only understands Russian.

JANE AND SERIAL DESIGNATION A

Jane is presumably the only survivor of Cabin Fever Labs. She used to be much more prestige and classy, until (PLACEHOLDER) tweaked out and Y’know the rest. She entirely blames (PLACEHOLDER) and takes her anger out on travelers. She is also cannibalistic and has some control over the sentinels.

A is the most sadistic of the three, but also not the most competent. Her only redeeming quality is persuasion, and her sadist nature holds her back greatly. The other two could be killing several workers at once while she’s busy focusing on one drone to torture. She claims herself leader of the three, and often blames the other two for her mistakes.

Summary: If looks could kill, Price sworn he would be dead already. And Johnny wouldn’t feel any remorse over it either. Fuck with him once shame on him, fuck with him twice shame on you.

“Johnny come back! It’s not what it looks like, I promise!” you screamed for him to walk back in. But he didn’t stop. Not for you. Not for his ‘friends’ either. 

He ignored your pleas to go back because he finally knew what kind of person you are now. You were never his to begin with. He was just a placeholder so you could find something ‘better’ than him. He went back to his apartment to think about what else to do. 

His first thought was to move back to Scotland. None of those assholes deserved anything he brought to the table. Though now he just doubts he brought anything to that table at all now. 

Johnny didn’t know where he was going. But he had to go away from all of them. He didn’t want to see any of them. Ever again if he had anything to do with it. The longer he spends away from you. The better it would be.

“I don’t want to hear your excuses because at the end of the day it’s all it is. Excuses, upon excuses. I hope you’re happy with yourself.” 

Johnny didn’t know where he was going. But he had to go away from all of them. He didn’t want to see any of them. Ever again if he had anything to do with it. The longer he spent time away from you. The better it would be.

A mantra to keep himself from spinning out of control. His hands gripping the steering wheel until his knuckles turned white.

You saw his tinder profile go back up. Your heart dropped to your stomach, hoping it wasn't him. Your heart begged for it not to be him. 

It was confirmed to be him when the bio read, ‘Just need a home to go back to. I want to feel loved by you and nobody else’. The same line he texted you on your second date with the guy. Your hands trembled so much, you dropped your phone in shock. 

In Johnny's defence, he didn't know you knew his friends already. “I want a transfer out of task force 141.” He told Captain Price. It wasn't a request. It was a demand. He was demanding a transfer. 

Price looked up at Johnny’s face, he could feel the anger he had for him, Simon and Kyle radiating from Johnny. He didn't know Johnny could be so pointed, so harsh, so willing to leave them for some other team. The form slammed down onto his desk, waiting for his signature so he can finally cut off all ties.

If looks could kill, Price sworn he would be dead already. And Johnny wouldn’t feel any remorse over it either. Fuck with him once shame on him, fuck with him twice shame on you.

Johnny wasn't dumb like you would have loved to call him behind his back. Demolitions, explosives, that doesn't scream dumb ass like you told everyone around you. Laughing at him behind his back like he wouldn't have caught you in the act with his team members. 

As he left their house. The one you slipped off to every night?

He punched John Price over and over until he had to be dragged off. Which didn't stop him from punching Simon, the guy who pulled him off. Who knew such a short guy could hold so much anger? 

Who knew someone like him can hold onto so much spite inside his soul? 

Do you really know who you dated, or did you pretend to care to get what you want from him?

So you can ‘replace’ him with someone else?

Do you really understand what kind of mess you made? Or do you enjoy ruining his sanity so much it borderlines upon sadism?

Whichever it is. Johnny had enough of it. Enough of all of your lies. 

You tried talking to him the next morning. But all you get is his cold shoulder, a cold “Good morning.” and the front door slamming shut as he decided to have breakfast with an ‘old friend’ of his. 

You got suspicious. You didn’t know Johnny had friends who were his longer than any of the men inside of task force 141. 

When you saw him with his ex-girlfriend, his ‘old friend’, what did you expect would happen? Did you really think he would crawl back to you on his hands and knees like some kind of dog? No. 

He has more self-respect than that. Far more than you have ever given him. 

Now that you see him crying into the shoulder of his ex-girlfriend. Her arms wrapped firmly around him as his sobs racked through his body. 

Crow, his ex-girlfriend who he broke-up with because things weren't working out between them. They decided it was better to remain friends afterwards. He never told you because you never asked. 

And because you never asked about her. You are about to lose your boyfriend for good. 

In hindsight, you should have asked if had dated anyone prior to you. Too late now, isn't it? You got what you wanted from him, and now he's gone. You pushed him so far, he snapped. What kind of person does that to someone who wants to be with you? 

Perhaps he didn't see it at first. Perhaps he only thought you were fussy about what kind of treatment you preferred to get from him. 

So you listened in to their conversation, you couldn't help yourself, Part of you wanted to know. Wanted to know more of this mystery woman he used to date, long before you came along.

“Sometimes you don't really know a person as much as you think.” She mused, her voice, rich and deep. Not quite deep as Simon's. But deep enough to feel like it scratched something deep in the back of your skull. 

“I wish she would have just broken up with me. I don't know if I can go back there. I don't think I want to see her.” Johnny's breath hitches, swallowing down another sob building up again. 

“Yeah. I get it. My last boyfriend did the same. Bunch of absolute bullshit.” she agreed. 

“Wait. The fucker cheated on you?!” Johnny was now outraged.

“Yeah. Coincidence? Probably. But he’s out of here and I don’t care.” she mused. “Do you want to come over with your stuff? Maybe we can get you back to Scotland if you decide to move back there.”

“Yeah. I’ll get my stuff together and call you when I’m ready for you to come over.” Johnny settled. Settled for his ex because facing you felt too much like groundhog day. 

All these rules you forced him to follow. While you were gallivanting off with his friends. He felt like he lost two years of his life. 

And he didn’t know who to blame. Him or you. Someone was at fault. But he didn’t know who. 

He felt like the rest of his team would choose your side. They couldn’t be trusted now. 

He didn't want to touch you, you would brush your hand against his, or his thigh, and he would flinch at your touch, pulling away from you completely. 

He would hurry off to the bathroom and call his ex-girlfriend again. 

“She's touching me more now. But I don't like it anymore. I mean, I used to. But now I don't. What the hell am I supposed to do?” 

“Break up with her.”

You swallowed hard when you heard her answer. Short. Straight to point. It didn't leave room to budge or for doubt to creep in. 

“I can't break up with her with no place to stay afterwards. Everything is in her name. I forgot how much control I gave her. I don't think I'll be able to get out of this break up alive, let alone sane.” Johnny groaned, thinking about the next steps he wanted to take. 

“That’s it. I’m coming over to get you.” she said. “Get your shit ready at the front door, and we’ll leave once she sneaks off again.”

Crow pulled up in her Ford F-450 Super Duty, something Johnny felt rather intimidating because she could easily run someone over with that beast. That was the kind of woman she was. Tough as nails,, ready for anything and everything. She was the kind of person who would stand by your side no matter how weird things got.

Johnny was also intimated by it because of how it looked. It wasn't just that it was a big truck. It was the way she drove it. Like she owned the fucking road. Her head held high, her eyes sharp, and her mouth set in a firm line.

But right now it was a comforting sight. He knew he shouldn't feel guilty about his choice. But what else could he do? All his anger is dried up, and now he's just exhausted.

Crow put classical music on as they pulled out of the drive way to head to her home in Coventry. In the state where she used to live with him. The place where he could just exist without having to pretend to be someone else. Someone you liked to see more of because it meant you paid some form of attention to him.

Running away from his problems like his mother said he would. What else could he do? What more could he give? 

He didn’t know what to do. So he turned to his ex-girlfriend like a drowning sailor yelling for help in the open seas. Where were you? Possibly in one of their beds. He didn’t care to know more than that. 

He reactivated his tinder profile and put his notifications on ‘DO Not Disturb’. Likewise, he didn’t want to hear anything from them or you. 

When you came back into your apartment, all of his things were gone, and he was nowhere to be found. You looked all over the apartment. You couldn’t find him. It was like he removed every single part of himself from your life. Just like you wanted, right?

You’re finally getting what you want from him. 

But why do you feel so empty?

Could it be the guilt finally filling your soul until there isn’t much left?

Should you chase after him, or should you let him go?

What should you do?

Stickbug Wiki Update!

While writing the next chapter for the Story page, I accidentally deleted it all with no progress and out of spite I did the base navigation for the Character's page!

A lot of the characters still have placeholder images, but I'll update them as they all get proper designs and art.

I just rewatched 2x05 after seeing the finale and holy shit is the script flipped.

We all thought Armand was the bad guy, manipulating Louis' mind, but this man was only taken back as a revenge plot against his ex, and he's spent 23 years clawing his way into believing that maybe this relationship could be one of true love, if not at least one day, and then he is forced to hear Louis saying Lestat's name over and over in his head, cementing in his head that this isn't about Armand. He is just a piece in the game of chess that is Loustat. Louis essentially told him that he is still only with him to spite Lestat, and he literally told him that he is dull as fuck. No wonder he said those were the worst things Louis has ever said to him, I agree!

So he realizes he's been a placeholder boyfriend this whole time, and now he has to be on suicide watch as well?

I sincerely want to give Assad all of the awards

Someone on Reddit pointed out another example of mandalas in Rebellion that I hadn't noticed before! This one is very much "blink and you'll miss it"; it's only on screen for a second or two at most.

This is the same mandala that appears around Homulilly later in the film. Notably, it is not identical to Walpurgisnacht's mandala, which has the same outer ring as Homulilly's, but also contains an inner ring of tomoe as well.

If, however, the mandala symbolizes world-creation (or destruction), it makes sense that Homura would manifest one at the moment she consciously invokes her powers as a witch to attack Kyubey. Up until now, she's always been a witch but hasn't realized it; this scene marks the shift as her impact on "reality" (i.e., the world insider her soul gem) moves from unconscious to deliberate.

I also like the image of the circular void inside (everything in this series keeps coming back to circles) as a black hole, a mouth, a maw, and a placeholder for the witch yet to come all in one.

Immediately before this shot, we get a closer look at the psychedelic wallpaper in Homura's dollhouse (a reference to Nutcracker and the Mouse King), which features the same iconography and patterns that will appear in Devil!Homura's mandalas at the end of the film. Not also the profusion of sewing pins in silhouette around her a welll.

Then we get a close-up of a close-up, focusing on the image of the Clara Doll heads (in spite of their varied appearances, all of the dolls' faces are identical and their hair and clothes can be swapped out) that is another recurring visual motif:

What's most interesting to me is the fact that the Clara Doll heads are slowly transforming into tomoe here--the same symbol that is present in Walpurgisnacht's mandala and Homura's shield. We also see two round shapes that could be records, tears, or shields, and what remind me of Homura's braids, but which are made up of the same "peacock's tail" symbol that appears in the mandalas.

I’ve seen placeholder fics used in shipwars unfortunately. I guess some losers get real butthurt when a ship gets “too popular” when it “shouldn’t be because the Good Moral ship is Right There you Freaks) so they make it a huge deal in their circles to beat the ship they hate by bumping the numbers of the “better” ship by making placeholder fics. I’m in a fandom and I love two of the ships but one of them has a bunch of antis so they make these godawful short fics or placeholders and flood the “rival” ship tag to bolster their numbers it’s completely insane because this ship war is happening entirely in their own heads. The other ships’ shippers are just existing happily while these antis ruin the other ship to be spiteful and now there is no quality fic for them just very generic boring stuff that goes nowhere because they are forcing themselves to write it to “win”.

So now the only good fics written for love and character and story are for the ship they hate so they’re kinda making it worse for themselves lol.

Joker & Harley

Ray and Mew are both being bad friends in the way they are diving into a romantic relationship with each other.

Ray is capitalizing on Mew's broken heart. He knows Mew doesn't really want this relationship. In a way, I think Ray enjoys the thought of Mew being broken--of Mew, who has always seemed to have his life together, finally falling to the same state he is in.

Mew has always seemed superior to Ray. But when Mew is pulled down to the trenches with Ray, that power imbalance finally disappears. Ray is pulling Mew into the darkness with him like the Joker pulled Harley Quinn into his twisted world. Does this Joker/HQ comparison mean that we will see Ray taking on more of a dominant role (in a relationship that has previously seen Mew in a superior position)? Was Mew's rigid moral code the biggest thing keeping Mew and Ray from being together?

Mew is in a state of despair right now, understandably, but he still needs to be held accountable. Ironically Ray and Sand are both in similar positions; Ray used Sand to distract from his feelings for Mew, while Mew is using Ray to distract from his feelings for Top. Mew (and on some level, Ray) knows that this relationship can't last long. It's a placeholder, a distraction, an emotional reprieve, possibly even an act of revenge.

(I also wonder to what extent Mew got with Ray just to spite Top? Since Top admitted to him that he slept with Boston because he thought Mew had slept with Ray...in which case, Mew's reasons for committing to Ray are even more in question.)

All of this to say that Ray and Mew are feeding off of each other's despair, but it's only a matter of time before they come crashing down.

can you tell why you dislike/don't care for lucanis and harding? i know about many issues in taash's writing but i'm interested to hear what you have to say about these two

it's not one single thing honestly they're just kind of low quality. lucanis' writing is awkward and it really does feel like he was a first draft with a ton of placeholder dialogue that was touched up by someone who didn't know what they were doing after mary kirby left (every time spite goes "oughhh it smells like piss and shit" i die inside a little. the first time it was whatever but he does it literally every time he comes out).

harding is just boring and her character is all over the place, especially if you compare her to how she was in dai. it feels like she's not really there as a character and more there as a way to loredump/connect the games

Also, I have a small theory about the lucid dream sequence.

So I believe that Alex invaded Dia's dream like Dave did and used Baldi's disguise. If he was just another dream and I forgot then I guess I'm thinking too deeply about this-

I don't think Dia or Dave has seen Alex in his human disguise and had only seen Aldurra, who uses his true form all the time. And in the dream, since they had both never seen Alex before, used Baldi as a placeholder instead of Alex. And I think to Alex he looked normal, not that strange Baldi mutation.

Another thing.

The actual Baldi in the webspace seems to act a lot like the Baldi from the save the game series. And Kelly is also a person that Dia and Dave knew. So I also think that Baldi from save the game might be the same person who came to the webspace with Dia.

Idk maybe I'm spiting stuff out my ass and taking stuff too seriously-
