I Fell Down A Fucking Hole:
"Which Fucking One of Them is DD??" [*]
Tumblr media
-The start of a fucking 2-day fall down an online hole.
All I wanted was to double-check my guess, but this is one of my tags under this post [link] breaking down my reactions to my screenshot [shown below] of the end of a S1 ad [link], where one can see the oldest versions of the original eight PKL team logos.
My reaction was mostly 'before this I thought the few images that came up in searches were ripoffs, not official', but the tag was specifically about Dabang Delhi's logo in particular. The rest of the original eight lineup I'd confirmed so it had to be DD, but I'd spent a few minutes squinting trying to read it. Info is fucking scarce with PKL generally, especially initial seasons, and it was the only one I couldn't pinpoint even though I'd recognized everyone else's.
Tumblr media
It didn't look like Delhi Dabang/Dabangg [couldn't think of what else it could be when 'Delhi' was clear but not the second word] and I couldn't find anything on it so atp I was like alfuckingright maybe I just go back and change the resolution. I didn't think the video would have a higher res hence not having done that in the first place [I've got used to sifting through low res footage and photos for this blog] but it did and lo and fucking behold when I upped the res and zoomed in again it wasn't Delhi Dabang/g it was fucking Delhi Dynamos.
Tumblr media
Which prompted me on a fucking search because when the hell have they ever been called that - this YouTube video was published 17th July 2014, just 9 days before S1 began on 26th July 2014.
But after sifting through the ISL team's logos [Football, hello - I was unaware], sifting through different season ads [it literally only shows in S1 ads] and trying every combo of keywords I could think of [I fucking reinstalled Pinterest just to look for this bullshit - no you shouldn't do the same there's basically nothing], this is apparently the best fucking pic you're gonna get. My own damn screenshot.
How Long Did This Name Even Fucking Exist, Tf
Hell, Delhi Dynamos doesn't even seem to have even lasted as a S1 team name consideration - even in the 'Sujeet Narwal - STAR Raider - Dabang Delhi' YouTube video from Star Sports [link], after upping the resolution you can clearly see Dabang Delhi at the end.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the video you can even see the text on their jersey and the DD on the flashing sidelines, which are more to do with this pic below that keeps showing as some obscure version of the logo that I can't connect to anything yet but does appear to exist - and the text is seen in an early fan-made promo video for S2 as well [link] - so I have to consider it as another older version of Dabang Delhi's logo.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now I cant tell if they started playing with different jersey logos initially [I looked for any other S1 footage of DD] but this Star Sports video was published on 14th Aug 2014 - the fucking season wasn't even done. S1 was from 26th July to 31st Aug 2014 and DD's first match of the season was the same day, yet there was already a name change. And in media/reports on S1 they're called Dabang Delhi, not Delhi Dynamos. I haven't found mention anywhere of the small discrepancy where all of the S1 advertisements [the ones I can find all published 17th-18th July 2014] show Delhi Dynamos, but in less than a month they're called Dabang Delhi on everything.
A Review of Kabaddi Websites
I took a final look through different official sites to see if there was anything on 'Delhi Dynamos', turns out there's barely anything in the first place so it ended up being more of a Kabaddi website review. Looked through:
the PKL website [link] - only 10 articles and one's incorrectly listed under the S1 search filter and is about S10 instead - any mentions of the team in these just list Dabang Delhi as the name.
the IKF website [link] - there's no search function and there's barely any info in the first place, the gallery is just a handful of random clipped images.
the WKF website [link] - in the longass plain text records in the News section there's only a mention of an associate membership for National Style Kabaddi being approved for 2015 at the earliest, which is the closest reference I can think of to early PKL?
the AKFI website [link] - cluttered and unsorted af but says it last updated this month still, so? Only found mentions of PKL S2 in articles under the News section - which don't seem to always be posted by the site admins and had one-liners or blocks of repeated text - and I can only ever see 25 articles bc the filter doesn't seem to work.
the AKF website [link] - nothing on PKL farther back or in general than 2017 and the entire site only has the same handful of articles from 2017, the only update being one article from 2024 - heck, Lorem Ipsum shows in several places and Overview is spelled wrong in the section's subheading.
the KhelNow website [link] - fucking terrible search function powered by Google - can't get any relevant results no matter what keywords or search functions I put in and only 3 results for 'delhi dynamos kabaddi' two of which are just the keywords extracted from the sitemap, plus I'm not going to continually click 'load more' on articles just to find something from 11 years ago so if there is a mention then site admins @ me atp.
As a final research measure I toggled open search results for the whole year of 2014 for articles on DD [keywords searched: dabang delhi, delhi dynamos kabaddi] just to be sure there really wasn't anything I could be fucking missing here, and-
There Is One Mention.
In what seems to be a blog post titled 'Pro Kabaddi league 2014 schedules fixtures online ticket booking and live telecast on TV channels' [link] by user 'Ramprasad' [a gold member it appears?], of what seems to be an educational learning site called India Study Channel, there is a brief rundown with a couple mispellings of where to watch/stream/buy tickets. But most importantly: every match listing in the schedule given states Delhi Dynamos playing. This was posted on 24th July 2014, only a week after the logo is first seen in the S1 ads and just two days before the league began airing.
Whether the name was taken from an official streaming site, one of the listed ticket booking websites, or from the advertisements themselves - idfk. But there is at least one article in existence that implies that, however brief, the name was genuinely relevant to the league and its audience for a period of time [there is a comment on the post from 1 Aug the same year].
Brief infuckingdeed, however, because in any articles I found after this date there was no mention, and they are listed as Dabang Delhi. Examples of this shit being:
31st July 2014 at the earliest, with 'Dabang Delhi owner Radha Kapoor on her plans for Pro-Kabaddi League players' The Economic Times [link] - which is just one week after that blog post; unclear what the hell happened in a week but Delhi Dynamos seems to have been discontinued or somehow irrelevant by the time this article was published.
3rd Aug 2014 'Pro Kabaddi League Live Streaming Information: Watch Dabang Delhi vs Telugu Titans Online' IB Times [link]
4th Aug 2014 'Dabang Delhi wins hearts, loses yet another duel' PKL site [link] - I will also point out I found this shit through open search so clearly there are still more articles falling through the filter cracks on this website.
I did find some alternate references however, though it's unclear how fucking relevant they ultimately are/were:
2nd Aug 'Delhi Dabang gears up to take home advantage' - ZEENEWS [link] - it seems like this was mere reverse wordplay on the team name in reference to the city, but it did bring into brief question whether that particular phrasing was actually relevant in the league or team branding at one point.
Says it was modified on 11th Aug 'Pro-Kabaddi League 2014' Essentially Sports [link] - throughout this article it has been spelt as Dabangg Delhi, but it's unclear if this was any kind of official spelling or simply the poster's misspelling of the team name.
In conclusion
'Delhi Dynamos' only seems to appear a literal handful of times on the internet; at the end of S1 advertisements published 17th-18th July 2014 on YouTube, and in a single online blogpost by what seems to be a random fan on 24th July 2014, all of which are before the inaugural season of PKL. A week later it's never seen in articles, ads or league videos since.
Whether this was a marketing mistake, an initial name consideration for Dabang Delhi, some kind of placeholder, or a genuine official name release that was changed before the first season of this league and these are the only remnants, idfk and it looks like I might not ever will [unless I take some fucking drastic route and actually email/call the listed addresses/numbers on these sites or flood their comment sections just for details].
If literally anyone has more info on this, talk to me.
Fuck knows I may have missed something. I'll fix up and edit this shit for clear pics as much as I can but fucking hell lmao. Random detail about DD that looks like a fucking mini-mystery.
[*yes that's a Chak De India reference.]

It is time for a battle royale as PKL Season 11's playoffs week is all set to commence from December 26 at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Balewadi, Pune. PKL Season 11's playoffs week is all set to begin on December 26 In the fray for the top prize are Haryana Steelers and UP Yoddhas, both of whom have never won the title, and along with them are three-time champions Patna Pirates, Season 8 winners Dabang Delhi K.C., Season 1 & 9 title holders Jaipur Pink Panthers, and Season 2 champions U Mumba, who sealed qualification for the playoffs with the last game of the league stage. The playoff race going to the last match of the league stage is a testament to how competitive this season has been, setting the stage for an exciting final week for season 11, a release said. Ahead of a week that is set to celebrate the sport of Kabaddi in more ways than one, the six coaches, Manpreet Singh (Haryana Steelers), Joginder Narwal (Dabang Delhi K.C.), Jasveer Singh (UP Yoddhas), Narender Redhu (Patna Pirates), Gholamreza Mazandarani (U Mumba) and Sanjeev Baliyan (Jaipur Pink Panthers) spoke at length at the Panga Roundtable, and touched upon various aspects of PKL Season 11. Staying true to the "Fan First" approach that has become synonymous with the PKL, also present at the engaging Panga Roundtable were the Super Fans, who made their presence felt too. Table toppers Haryana Steelers, who are through to the semi-finals, are gunning for their first PKL title, and coach Manpreet Singh, who was full of praise for the Show-Stopper Mohammadreza Shadloui, said the team is like a family. "The players are all like my younger brothers, and we will work together, and leave no stone unturned when we play our semi-final. Having qualified for the Semi-final directly is a source of great motivation for the team before the final week, and for Haryana, a state which has won so many medals in other sports, it is the PKL title that remains elusive, and hopefully, we can win it." The Dabang Delhi K.C. have been one of the best teams this season and have stitched together a 15-match unbeaten streak, which helped them secure the second position on the points table. Having qualified for the semi-final already, coach Joginder Narwal, who has won the PKL title as a skipper in Season 8, spoke about the bond between his two co-captains - Ashu Malik and Naveen Kumar. "I have played with both Ashu and Naveen in the previous years in the PKL itself, and they are like best friends. The two of them have a great chemistry and always stick together, and that bond is visible on the mat also. The team is like a complete family, and going into the playoffs, they are all fit and in-form." The UP Yoddhas, who had to go back to the drawing board before the season began, has seen their young raiders and the defence step up in style. Coach Jasveer Singh said, "The team lost a couple of big players, but the core of the team remained together, and have worked hard as well." When asked about how well his side has closed out a few tight contests, the coach explained, "Winning closely fought matches is not easy and it is more of a habit which one has to develop over time. We always train accordingly, so that on the matchday, the players know how to deal with the situation and the pressure." Three-time champions Patna Pirates' Narender Redhu heaped praise on the dynamic and dangerous duo of Devank and Ayan, who have taken to the big stage like fish does to water. "Before the start of PKL Season 11, in our camps, we could see that Devank and Ayan will form a formidable pair for us as raiders. We had also seen them playing in other tournaments, and we are lucky in a way that they are both in our squad, and we have given them the freedom to play, and they have grabbed their opportunity with both hands." U Mumba stormed into the PKL Season 11 Playoffs with a superb win against the Bengal Warriorz in the final league stage game this season. Among the highlights for U Mumba this season has been that the young brigade have led from the front. Reflecting on the journey, U Mumba coach Gholamreza Mazandarani said, "We are very happy to have made it to the Playoffs. And the thing is the young players have done really well. They always want to do something different, like make a new record and have excellent energy as well. Players like Ajith Chauhan and Rohit Raghav are very skilful and the more they play at the highest level in PKL, they will continue to improve." Having finished sixth on the points table, the Jaipur Pink Panthers are looking for their third title. And coach Sanjeev Baliyan believes that the mentality and preparations for the Playoffs Week has to be different. He said, "The Playoffs is a different kettle of fish and there are no second chances like during the league stage. And moreover, to win the PKL title again, the whole squad has to play well, and support Arjun Deshwal. So far, whenever the team has needed it, there has been someone who has stepped up, especially if Arjun hasn't had a good day, and it is essential to keep that going." Eliminator 1 will see the third placed UP Yoddhas take on the Jaipur Pink Panthers, who were sixth on the points table in the league stage. Both the sides have only one thing in mind, which is progressing to the semi-final, and will go all out for the win. After that, in Eliminator 2, the most decorated team in the PKL, Patna Pirates, will play the U Mumba side, in what is a battle of the young raiders. Both sides have had a fantastic run of form during the league stage, and will be keen to make a splash in the final week of 2024 as well.

How PKL went on to become the biggest Kabaddi league?
Pro Kabaddi League or PKL is the biggest and most popular professional Kabaddi tournament hosted in India. Launched in 2014, PKL features top international men kabaddi stars, who go under the hammer every season in the PKL auction. The tournament is the second most watched sports league in India after the very popular Indian Premier League. While the league is broadcast on Star Sports, there are various online platforms that provide kabaddi fanatics with the PKL live score. The idea of PKL came into life after the popularity of the sport at the 2006 edition of the Asian Games.
Ever since the IPL has become popular in the Indian subcontinent, several sports came up with a league-based tournament, and PKL was no different. Like the cash-rich cricket league, PKL also follows a franchise-based model and was first hosted in 2014 with the participation of eight teams. Since kabaddi was less popular than cricket and had fans at grassroot levels in India, there were doubts whether the league would sustain or not. However, Indian fans as well as sports lovers across the globe adopted PKL and soon, the sport got fans in regions where the sport wasn’t much popular earlier.
The best part about PKL has always been the thrill it offers to fans and audience. Since its inception a decade ago, the league hasn’t seen one champion team every season. For example, Patna Pirates has won the tournament three times, consecutively. On the other hand, teams like Jaipur Pink Panthers have been crowned champions twice, while names like U Mumba, Bengaluru Bulls, Bengal Warriors, Dabang Delhi K.C and Puneri Paltan have won one title once.
The 2024 season of the PKL is set to begin on October 18 in Hyderabad. Unlike past editions, PKL Season 11 will have a three-destination format instead of the traditional 12-destination format in 2024. The first leg of the tournament will unfold in Hyderabad before the action moves to Noida Indoor Stadium and then Balewadi Badminton Stadium in Pune. The dates of the play-offs will be announced later along with their venues. Those who cannot travel but don’t wish to miss out on the action can rely on several media platforms for kabaddi live score. Earlier, League Commissioner Anupam Gosawmi expressed his excitement about the upcoming edition of the PKL 2024. He highlighted the potential of the forthcoming edition to elevate Kabaddi’s status further domestically and globally. He said, "After successfully completing 10 seasons, PKL Season 11 will mark a new milestone in the continued rise of the league. This would strengthen the growth of Kabaddi in India and elsewhere around the world."
PKL 2024 auction
In the auction for the next season, several players underwent bidding war in Mumbai, which shattered several records. A total of eight players secured bids of more than INR 1 Crore. Sachin Tanwar who was sold to Tamil Thalaivas, became the most expensive player with a bid of INR 2.15 Crore. Following him was Mohammadreza Shadloui Chiyaneh, who was sold to Haryana Steelers for INR 2.07 Crore. Other than him, Guman Singh (Gujarat Giants), Pawan Sehrawat (Telugu Titans), Bharat (UP Yoddhas), Maninder Singh (Bengal Warriors), Ajinkya Ashok Pawar (Bengaluru Bulls), and Sunil Kumar (U Mumba) secured bids of more than INR 1 Crore.

Patna Pirates (PTP) is a professional kabaddi team based in Patna, Bihar, that plays in the Pro Kabaddi League. The team is led by Sachin Tanwar and coached by Narender Redu. Their home ground is the Patliputra Sports Complex.[1] The Pirates are the most successful team in PKL history with a record of winning 3 out of 8 titles and winning all of them in successive. They are also one time runners up in season 8 of pkl which started after the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Pirates won their first title by defeating defending champions U Mumba in 2016 (January), after reaching the semi-finals in the previous two seasons (2014 and 2015). In the following 2016 (June) season, Patna Pirates defeated the Jaipur Pink Panthers, thus becoming the first team in PKL history to successfully defend their title and later completed a hat-trick of titles by defeating Gujarat Fortune Giants in the final of the 2017 tournament. The 2018-19 season was a contrasting season for the usually successful Patna Pirates, as the 3-time defending champions crashed out in the group stages, thus failing to make the playoffs for the first time ever. Patna is also the first team to play 100 Pro Kabaddi matches.

Saturday Morning Coffee
Good morning from Charlottesville, Virginia! ☕️
Tumblr media
Another week and month in the books. We’ve crossed into February and Punxsutawney Phil says six more weeks of winter. I’m ok with that. Coffees ready, let’s get going.
MARK KENNEDY • Yahoo
Carl Weathers, linebacker-turned-actor who starred in ‘Rocky’ movies and ‘The Mandalorian,’ dies
I remember seeing Rocky as a kid and I didn’t much like Apollo Creed. He was arrogant, cocky, and besides, the star of the show was Rocky, the underdog. Of course they eventually became friends and I liked him then.
I loved him as Al Dillon in Preditor and as Chubbs in Happy Gilmore.

I blew through the five episode season in a couple days. Why’d they only order up five episodes in the first season? I mean, F1: Drive to Survive has had 10 episode since season 1.
They focused on the playoffs but they could’ve done more leading into the playoffs. It’s a long season full of drama and I wanted more.
Overall it was really good and I hope we get a full 10 episodes in season 2.

Pkl is an Apple project. They’re trying to become a services company and having a better means of managing things sounds like a good idea.
It’s odd to see Apple using Java and Kotlin for this but it does make sense given it’s meant to be portable to different platforms. And by different platforms I mean actual different platforms like Linux, Windows, and Mac. Not Mac, iPhone, and iPad. 😄

If memory serves it was more a matter of discoverability.
I’d love to see multiple BIPOC instances spring. We need more diversity, not less.

My current effort is slightly different: how to build a native iPadOS (and hopefully VisionOS) experience for Godot. So rather than rewriting the existing Editor codebase with Swift, this effort is about making a SwiftUI on top of the existing Editor.
I don’t keep up with Godot but I do keep up with Miguel. It’ll be fun to watch his effort evolve into a finished product.

It’s 2024, and I’m here to extol the virtues of using an RSS reader.
Of course everyone should use an RSS reader! Might I recommend Stream for iOS? 😘
Yes, yes, it’s my app, but you should give it a try and if you like it, please, leave me a tip. 🙏🏼

Man oh man would I love to have a national healthcare system that’s fully integrated and lets me manage how I interact with doctors and other healthcare providers.
I’d like it to work like Facebook. Doctors should invite me to join, or I invite them to join, my medical record.

Spotify accuses Apple of ‘extortion’ with new App Store tax
Spotify and others didn’t get what they really wanted. They don’t want to pay a single cent to Apple. Which from a business perspective makes perfect sense.
Guess we’ll see what the law says.

In the two years I’ve been writing about Americans' changing relationship to work, there’s one theme that’s come up over and over again: loyalty. Whether my stories are about quiet quitting, or job-hopping, or leveraging a job offer from a competitor to force your boss to give you a raise, readers seem to divide into two groups.
There are so many factors to loyalty. The true believers exist and they have little to fear. Then there are the masses who quietly do their jobs and aren’t really seen.
We had a layoff at work last May and it destroyed morale, destroyed the company culture, and left loyalty at an all time low.
I hate to be so cynical but companies aren’t there for you. They’re there to make profit. Loyalty from the company only extends so far to the employee.
I still love my job and work hard at it everyday but I fear being laid off.

Microsoft says Apple’s new App Store rules are ‘a step in the wrong direction’
Of course they think it’s going in the wrong direction! They’re a huge corporation in the business of selling software. They don’t want to hand any of it over to Apple.

New libraries. New languages. New Frameworks. New Intern coming in and thinking he can rewrite better parts of the code himself. It’s easy to get swept away. But is the newest framework always the best choice? Is a rewrite really going to make everything better? Or is there wisdom in the code that has been around for years, has been tested with crazy edge cases, and has evolved together with the business?
I understand why folks are tempted to rewrite thing, I really do. When I wasn’t a dinosaur of a developer I hand that tendency. “I can make this better”, my brain would say. Sure, there’s occasion to “turn the soil once in a while and I believe that’s good for a code base. But a full rewrite? No. 🌹

As you can see, even the checkmark wasn’t always there. But one thing remained constant: checkboxes were square.
A square checkbox is something us old timers are accustomed to seeing and changes can be confusing.
The Vision Pro’s checkboxes are confusing but I kind of like UIKit’s toggles as long as you don’t go crazy styling them. 😃
Nilay Patel • The Verge
It sounds amazing, and sometimes it is. But the Vision Pro also represents a series of really big tradeoffs — tradeoffs that are impossible to ignore. Some of those tradeoffs are very tangible: getting all this tech in a headset means there’s a lot of weight on your face, so Apple chose to use an external battery pack connected by a cable. But there are other, more philosophical tradeoffs as well.
I think Nilay did a great job balancing his review of Vision Pro.
It’s a great start but has a really long way to go as a general computing device. That’s my opinion having never used one.
I really believe we’ll get a sense for how we should be using it if we see pictures of Apple Executives wearing it daily to do their jobs. I kind of doubt we’ll see that for anything other than articles written about it.
The iPhone, Watch, and AirPods are devices those same executives probably use everyday. I just can’t see them using Vision Pro as much.
When/if they’re ever able to make them look like regular glasses and they cost around $500-800 I’d consider wearing them all the time. Until then they’re way too expensive for my blood. I would rather spend that kind of green on a new MacBook Pro.
Will Stream support Vision Pro? I think so. I have no idea when, but I think it will.

Catatan “A Letter to Allah - Ust. Oemar Mita” (Day 6)
Tumblr media
Bismillahirrahmanirrahim.
A Letter to Allah sendiri adalah SyameelaSeries Classroom Season 3 milik Ust. Oemar Mita yang kembali ditayangkan di kajian #PagiBagi channel youtube beliau setiap pkl 05.00 s.d. 07.00. Sebelumnya, ada From The Earth To The Arsy di Season 2 dan selanjutnya ada The Day After You Die (lg buka pendaftaran).
Dalam series A Letter to Allah, Ust Oemar Mita mengajak kita untuk menyelami 40 doa Rabbana dalam Qur'an. Sayang beribu sayang, saya sendiri telat nyelem, baru ikut nyelem di Day 6 dari 11 Day.
1. QS.
Salah satu kalimat ust.
Menambahkan jumlah rakaat disetiap shalat.
Suka gak sih mikir gini, “duh, hidup gw tuh gak cuma disini doang.
Aamiin
Ushikum wa iyya nafsi bitaqwallah. Cmiiw juga ya ✌️
