We meet Boreas, we meet Notus and we meet Zephyros. North, South and West. But we never get to see the East Wind. To be fair, I suppose we never had any real reason to visit the east (since the quest mostly takes us to europe, which is in the west). But still. It was a missed opportunity not to have Eurus show up somewhere. The god of the east wind might be kind of interesting to meet. I mean, we got to see every other god (from Boreas to Aeolus). We should have gotten to see Eurus too! I'm just curious how rick riordan would have chosen to portray him, honestly.

Boreas is in Quebec. But i don't think we learn where most of the other winds are. I think we might meet one of the other wind spirits around the time cupid forcibly outs nico, but I don't remember which one. Either way… I think I can guess where they'd all be. The south wind would probably dwell opposite the north. So if Boreas is in Quebec, Notus is in Argentina or Chile or something. I'm not sure which direction is east and which is west, though. So those two still confuse me. But I think I figured out Boreas and Notus.

The wind gods (+other gods) have animalistic traits, particularly when courting someone. In Boreas, these show up as;

Giving shiny things

Giving pretty rocks

Making his winds whistle a pretty tune (because birdsong=ready to mate)

Shows off

Preening wings

About 95% of Apollo's jewelry comes from Boreas! Necklaces, bracelets, hair pins, hair combs, earring, ect! He's always incredibly smug whenever Apollo wears something he got him XD

On the flip side, Boreas does get a tiiiiny bit jelly when Apollo wears jewelry one of his OTHER lovers gave him XD

One time I was flicking through past Discord convos and found a headcanon made by @nyaningthroughlife, and when I mushed it with this, it created a rather funny scenario XD

Nyan headcanoned Commodus had gotten Apollo like a snake-style bracelet/armband, and I think we can assume Boreas knows Apollo isn't the biggest fan of snakes, so then we get...

Boreas: you sure you wanna wear it? 🥺🥺🥺I don't want you to be uncomfortable🥺🥺🥺" <- partly true, but also jealous he's not the only one giving shiny treasures anymore XD

Apollo: 🥰🥰🥰 It's alright <3

Boreas: ...if you say so 🥰 <- inwardly dying

(This would track because Apollo&Commodus were a thing probably from Oct - March!)

So then immediately afterward Boreas gets Apollo another shiny present because he's NOT gonna be upstaged by a MORTAL thank you!

Boreas also combats this by giving Apollo the prettiest feathers from his wings when shedding season comes. Weaves them into Apollo's hair, because he can be a possessive little shit XD, and puts the SECOND prettiest feathers into their nest.

HE HAS A NEST INSTEAD OF A BED! :D

And he has a whole OTHER nest/room SPECIFICALLY for his and Apollo's flings :3 It is comfy to a T, which is why both of them get grumpy when Apollo has to leave for something or other, hence Apollo's laziness in the winter :3

Apollo & Boreas preen wings together. Apollo grows wings for this purpose :3 Also, Apollo knows how to preen wings because his son Hymenaeus has wings, and @sad-simping-hours said Artemis used to be depicted with wings! :3

Other headcanons:

Boreas is the big spoon. I am right, you see, because Boreas then uses his wings so he and Apollo cuddle <3

Also because I say so :)

Sometimes Boreas will use his wings to hide Apollo when he kisses him :3 Particularly when Helios is around, then flies off cackling as Helios curses at him XD

When Apollo had a fling with Eurus and Notus each, Boreas didn't really care all that much because he knows he's the favorite :3 They were mere one-night stands, while Apollo keeps coming back to him lmao XD

Another addition to Zephyrus's Utter Fails;

Tried to sing to impress Apollo, but got an🙄instead XD

He's constantly outclassed by Boreas, rip

I live for all these ships with Apollo like Apollo and Thanatos, Cupid, and even the most dumpsterfire ship of all time Copollo (I go feral over these two)

But one ship that stood out to me was Boreas and Apollo, and apparently the Boreads describe Apollo as "Beloved of our sire" And the fact that Koios is basically Boreas' boss makes this so much more better

So basically I'm asking for Boreas and Apollo headcanons 👀

(And if you take fic reqs, I wouldn't mind a fic with these two)

Apollo is SOOOOOO Shippable lmao XD He has such a variety of lovers and that really allows us to be able to explore a variety of relationship!

Healthy or toxic, lmao XD Copollo is Top Tier imo

and on the topic of Boreas, I have one extra thing to add there because I personally headcanon that Lelantos, titan of air & moving unseen (and apollo's uncle), used to be the head of the wind gods but was stripped of his title by Zeus post-titan war because he sided with Kronos.

So therefore, both of Boreas's bosses are relatives of Apollo's lmao XD

Imo, Hyperborea was some sort of courting gift or something Boreas gave Apollo. Because here's the thing with Hyperborea:

It's the One Place Boreas does not blow his winds, hence its title of Eternal Spring.

Boreas's palace resides at the southern border of Hyperborea, with gryphons who live in BOTH places.

Three of Boreas's son are PRIESTS of Hyperborea, and serve Apollo when he's there.

Three of Boreas's daughters joined Artemis's hunt (Oupis features in my fic Shattered Minds, btw!)

Hyperborea is literally "over the north wind" in Greek.

I think we can all agree winter is the time Apollo and Boreas hook up lmao XD

Boreas ALSO, in some versions, is a suitor of Hyacinthus, but he clearly doesn't hold any ill-will about Hya & Apollo because let's be real, he would have picked Apollo too XD

So imagine this. Hyacinthus & Apollo making out. Then Apollo & Boreas making out. HECK HYACINTHUS & BOREAS MAKING OUT.

Zephyrus has a crush on Apollo :3 (It makes sense. also Apollo is widely associated with spring and Zephyrus is the SPRING wind, and likes pretty guys and Apollo is the prettiest so-)

The Hyacinthus Debacle, as I have dubbed it, also created a bit of a rift between Boreas and Zephyrus, which is Sad because they are usually associated with each other in literature, art, ect :(

Family dinners are Awkward. Even more so when Boreas brings Apollo along to the dinners hosted at his place.

They became Especially Awkward when Helios and Selene were still around because then Boreas would have to deal with Helios's Dad Instincts kicking in and staring him down.

(Helios is Boreas's uncle btw!)

(I have a Boreas thing planned in my Helios fic eheheheh. It's funny, don't panic)

And whenever Apollo pops in the visit Eos about light-related things or Astraeus (Eos & Astraeus are the winds' parents) it Still Is Awkward because Zephyrus just. BOLTS out of the room.

He is simultaneously Gay For and Terrified of Apollo.

Also if Asteria tags along with Apollo (because she is shooting stars/night prophecy and Astraeus is dusk/stars) she gives Zephyrus The Death Stare.

He is equally terrified of her, minus the horny.

Cupid/Eros, eh?
