Everybody's different. Definitely don't feel like you need to ship it. That's one thing I don't like about things like this, since it tends to make those that don't like it/see it/ship it feel bad because they don't. :(

I KNOW. i've been trying to convince colin to give the show a try again (i tried to show it to him back in september and he couldn't get into it). but he's watching the playoffs with the rangers/devils right now and he ran up stairs, kissed me, and told me i had to show him suits again because he just saw that commercial.

WELL YES HE IS BUT OKAY. LET ME EXPLAIN.

So I'm in a sorority, and I'm pansexual (bisexual for the purposes of this story) and there's a group called "Lambda" on my campus which is like the overlapping part in a venn diagram between the LGBT and Greek communities.

Lambda had an event tonight that was a panel where we had ten people (5 straight, 5 "other," divided half and half men/women to be fair, and all Greek ourselves so we look like normal fraternity men and sorority women) sit in front of a group of other Greeks, answer (moderated) questions that the audience tweeted Lambda's twitter account, and at the end people had to guess what our sexualities were. Afterwards, there was a speaker who sort of explained stereotypes and the importance of accepting AND actively supporting LGBT members or potential new members of Greek life.

ANYWAY.

It went wonderfully. The guessing was funny and easygoing, the audience really seemed to enjoy discussing it, and the reveal went great too. Speaker finishes, we pack up and leave, etcetera etcetera.

So I'm talking to one of the other girls in Lambda and she asks, "Oh, how do you know [boy]?" and I figure that she's asking because we're mutual friends on Facebook or something, which we are. But then she goes, "He was sitting behind me and went to my high school and was like, 'OH I KNOW HER!' when he saw you up at the panel."

So I leave to go get coffee, and it dawns on me that this kid would PROBABLY text my sister like "Oh hey I didn't know your sister was bi, that's awesome."

SO I CHECK MY PHONE TO TEXT HER/CALL HER.

AND I ALREADY HAVE TWO TEXTS FROM HER.

So basically he sent her something along those lines, which is fair, because I guess he figured if I was outing myself to 250 people in a lecture hall, that my sister already knew.

Well, she didn't.

I mean, it's not like I didn't imply it. (WHAT STRAIGHT GIRLS WATCH THE L WORD. COME ON.) And my list of activities in college (LGBT & Ally first year experience club as a freshman, LGBT/Greek club as a sophomore, lots of activities with the multicultural center, an "ALLY" rainbow pin, a "GAY? FINE BY ME" shirt) doesn't reeeeally make me that straight. No ally on earth is THIS supportive, okay, it doesn't happen like that. Unless people have a vested interest in a cause, they would not go so far to promote it.

ANYWAY.

So I just felt really bad, because I guess I should've explicitly told her first, and I would've as soon as the panel had been planned, but she got engaged a month or so ago and literally every single conversation we have is about WEDDING COLORS and OMG WEDDING INVITES and OMG DID YOU SEE THAT THING ON MY PINTEREST and I WANT TO DO MY HAIR LIKE THIS FOR MY WEDDING and LOOK AT MY RING and no offense but there's like no reasonable way to go from that to "hey guess what sometimes I like people and sometimes they aren't men."

BUT I KNEW I SHOULDN'T FEEL BAD. Because it was a diversity event, it hopefully made people a little more open to things and a little more cautious about stereotyping, especially in the Greek community, and it went well and I was so ecstatic about it when it ended. IT WAS A GOOD THING, AND SHE HAD NO RIGHT TO BLAME ME FOR NOT EXPLICITLY TELLING HER THAT. I WAS BRAVE AND IT WAS A GOOD THING TO DO AND I FEEL BETTER BECAUSE OF IT.

Anyway.

So I called my friend for an hour and she cheered me up because we started talking about how I have crushes on people I meet for 35 seconds when the order coffee at work, and about The Avengers (which she has seen and I HAVEN'T YET ARGH).

SO I DID GOOD TODAY.

AND IT WASN'T [boy]'S BUSINESS TO TEXT HER THAT.

AND IT'S NOT HER RIGHT TO BE ANGRY WITH ME FOR ANY OF THIS.

SO THERE.

I don't want to bring other people down, so I won't say. But it made me really angry. And I had to vent. BUT NOW I SHALL SPREAD JOY AND CHEER. Because I believe that's how to combat negative energy.
