This is supposed to be a slice of pumpkin pie. To be completely honest, I'm not really that proud of this. It doesn't really give me that "pumpkin" feeling.

alr so im trying to make mockup sprites for my funny little guys. the first one was the one i made. and then a while later i was like "oh this is kind of hard to read actually" so i edited it to make the second pic. and then i was like actually it might be because the hair is covering the eyes just the slightest bit and also i should bring the nose back and also edit the shading just the slightest bit. ANYWAY i still wanna make sure this looks alright so can someone just like give me tips on how to improve this :3

also: brown thing on chin in first pic is supposed to be just a bit of facial hair but i couldnt figure out how to make it look good so i got rid of it. if anyone knows how to make it look good lmk

color palette tip: if you're putting a color palette together and you think the colors look wrong, try making sure that you're not pairing high-saturation colors with low-saturation colors

Other websites (besides reddit for some reason) are the same. But I never had history with them. I don't have 16k followers on Cara, Pixiv or BlueSky...

So, can I have honest critique at why my art is so bad that people actively ignore it?

Any tips on syncing multiple animation loops within a piece?

Oh sure thing, my globes are almost all 48 frames long. This way you can make loops in sections of 1,2,3,4,6,8,12,16,24 and 48 frames long. It will make the animations all look like they are separate and not aligned to each other which will make it look more natural. If every animation was synced to 8 frames, then everything will move together making it look more robotic than it should be. Also make sure that each section is on a separate layer of course. In case that Your animation will be lower than 24 frames then I suggest to not align the beginning and ends of the animation to the same frame, so the animations will be staggered, for example it would look a bit odd if every character in your animation would all jump at the same time. (this also goes for the 48 frame animations I make, but it is much more a problem I have with shorter animations)

I'm not sure if you have Aseprite, but for pixelart I highly recommend that program, it makes pixel animation so much more easy

If you wanna know how I make square. I use the plain digital pen on the lowest size. On IBIS Paint on the phone, like i use, you need to make sure its set to pixilated when you zoom. But im sure theres many tutorials and ways to do it on every program. I used to draw exclusively on aggie/magma and it was very similar, just the smallest size no nonsense brush.

But really it's nothing special, just a single pixel brush and I go over my sketch a couple times and clean and erase stuff to slowly build up the line thickness, then i colour it.

Here's like, before and after the lines are all cleaned up.

I have several old speedraws on my yt channel that show the process slightly more in depth [make sure to click my shorts tab]. I might make a speeddraw of this and some other recent ones soon, I've been meaning to.

Ive been thinking about splinter lately and how much rise was a genius for how they handled his character. Ive never attempted to draw him, so why not try out this study technique at the same time? Bascially you try to replicate a screenshot, than overlay the screenshot with your drawing, trace what you got wrong, create a new sketch, rinse and repeat. I highly recommend this way of learning to draw a character if you wish to style match. Ive already subtly picked up so much on how splinters shapes work just by these sketches alone. And its interesting seeing my first and last drawing. I naturally wanted to make his head more circle and the facial features more big, but after sketching and checking, splinter has a wider face and his eyes, mouth, and nose are much much smaller in comparison.

Here’s a quick 3 min sketch of splinter i drew from memory using only what i remember learning above. Already loads better from the first drawing i tried to replicate when i had a reference right in front of me.

Usually if friends of mine are not feeling well or are sick I send them my best wishes and they get better in the next few days. (or they tell me their symptoms and I get inspired by it somehow lol)

But with Kazin, I found out she's had bloating and stomachaches for almost a year multiple times a month and hasn’t gotten any better. She didn't seem to know what was wrong with her.

So I did a full examination. (aka asking questions and taking a guess from my knowledge)

My final diagnosis: She has IBS-C

...and yet she probably still won't resist the urges to fill herself with caffeine and junkfood... xD
