okay let’s see here fic titles:
an ode to pizza
Battery
that one cup in my bathroom that looks like a bubble(it’s really cool)
squeeze
crimes
some of these have spoilers for gtn and/or htn, so reader's discretion! (thanks for sending so many, lol. got my brain moving)
an ode to pizza short modern setting oneshot, starring Ortus as he struggles w writers block and bemoans it to anyone who will listen (and also anyone who won’t), including the single employee behind the counter at a local, late-night pizza joint. the employee (Nonius, bc come on, who else was it gonna be?), tired but generally pretty pleasant, advises him to start small and not pressure himself into writing some colossal work, and suggests he start by writing abt something good that’s happened recently. Ortus instead becomes infatuated w the employee + validated by Nonius asking for updates on his writing, which does in the end actually solve his writer’s block. Only problem is that he can’t show Nonius any of his work, since it’s all abt him…
Battery Can’t think of anything particularly interesting to fit w this prompt (that i’m not actually planning on writing) so i’m going to extrapolate on a different definition of this word instead… women’s baseball team au; can either be modern setting or 40’s America, idc. Harrow’s no fuckin good at running and not particularly talented at batting but she’s got a mean pitching arm and an eye for catching batsmen out; Gideon’s got her sights on transferring to bigger league opportunities, as soon as she can catch a talent scouts eye with her awesome batting skills and get out of this dead end town. When Gideon finally does get poached, Harrow insists on being taken along, blackmailing Gideon into arguing her case; thus begins a tenuous alliance between the two as they get hustled into a ragtag women’s baseball league filled with similarly ambitious and equally skilled players from all over the place. Yes I am just pitching (ha) a TLTxLOTO fusion and idc if you don’t like it. Give me sapphic baseball content or give me death. Also just imagine w me Gideon coaching Harrow thru batting a lá holding the sword for her in ch37 gtn. beautiful, no?
that one cup in my bathroom that looks like a bubble (it’s really cool) Post gtn - As it turns out, getting rid of the part of her that can perceive Gideon means that whatever hole she tosses Gideon into is the same hole part of her own soul goes into. Harrow and Gideon’s fractured soul fragments have to navigate the labyrinth of Harrow’s own broken mind without getting caught, clotheslined into the well of her lobotomised brain and drowned, all the while not resorting to soul-on-soul violence or abandoning each other. Idk whether this is a pan’s labyrinth situation or a river bubble one or what, i just like the idea of gideon still having a harrow to seethe at.
squeeze Post-htn - Harrow wakes up in Gideon’s body and vice versa, and they individually decide to masquerade as each other until they can swap back. This goes about as well as you’d imagine, but they still give it a red hot go, and try to convince anyone who discovers the truth to get in on it and help them. Probably a crackfic if i’m honest.
crimes Hot Sauce, Honesty, Beautiful Ruby, Born in the Morning, and Kevin, herald Nona w their many illegal triumphs pre-knowing her, and beg her for one in return. Think that one episode of Batman the animated series where the joker, two-face, poison ivy, and killer croc are at a poker game telling their Almost Gottim’ story, but they’re no-good delinquent tweens talking abt their best cons instead.
(still doin the ask game if anyone wants to send anymore fic titles)

IPL Auction 2025: 7 Players Mumbai Indians Can Buy with Their Remaining Budget
The IPL Auction 2025 is around the corner. And as in each season, big moves with Mumbai Indians can be expected to strengthen their team. Well, with a good core of retained Indian players, including Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, Rohit Sharma, and Tilak Varma, Mumbai Indians will have an excellent national backbone, which forms the core strength. Though their primary emphasis will be on quality foreign players, particularly fast bowlers, as Wankhede Stadium is an outright fast-tracking surface. Here are 7 players MI could target to strengthen their squad within their available budget:
Josh Hazlewood (Australia) - Fast Bowler Josh Hazlewood’s precise line and length make him a potent threat in any condition. MI’s interest in him would be particularly strong given the flat pitches at Wankhede Stadium, which can benefit fast bowlers who can generate swing. Hazlewood’s ability to bowl under pressure in the death overs and his experience in T20 leagues around the world make him an ideal candidate for MI's bowling attack.
Dawid Malan, England Top-order batsman Dawid Malan, the top-order batsman of England, would be one excellent pick for MI. Consistency is one of his key strengths, and with Malan, an innings is anchored to a better extent. Malan comes across as versatile, considering he can play against both pace and spin. He has enormous experience in T20 cricket in leagues like Big Bash League and The Hundred, so that automatically adds value to the batting line-up for MI.
Lockie Ferguson (New Zealand) – Fast Bowler In the past, MI has often backed strong pace bowlers, and Lockie Ferguson is no exception. He's been renowned for his raw pace and can be a massive destroyer of batsmen in the death overs. His express speed coupled with his ability to bowl yorkers even when in pressure situations makes him an expensive asset in T20 cricket. Against Wankhede, where swift bowling can cause serious problems for batsmen, Ferguson might find solace along with Bumrah and Pandya.
Adam Zampa - Leg Spinner 4. Australia Adam Zampa, of course, is a proven wicket-taker, one who is a specialist in the middle overs. With Wankhede sometimes allowing spinners to gain a seam that helps them win the game, Mumbai might just need Zampa to provide the right arm of control and variation. Experience in the IPL for Royal Challengers Bangalore and his attendant performances in other T20 leagues make him a high-profile target for MI looking to strengthen their spin arsenal.
Shimron Hetmyer (West Indies) – Middle-order batsman Shimron Hetmyer is an aggressive middleorder bat, but a hitter nevertheless. He has the ability to fire in the latter half of the innings, which is a great asset for MI to have as a finisher. With the aim of a power-hitting depth in the squad, Hetmyer's experience in T20 cricket and the time he has spent in IPL would add to his value for the team. His aggressive stroke play could complement MI's strong top-order batsmen such as Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit Sharma.
Kyle Jamieson (New Zealand) - All-rounder Kyle Jamieson is well balanced between his pace and batting depth. He can bowl consistently at a speed of 140 km/h plus and chip in with the bat towards the end, making him a valuable asset to MI across both departments. He will complement Hardik Pandya as an all-rounder and provide some extra heft with their bowling attack on flat Wankhede pitches.
Rilee Rossouw (South Africa) – Top-order Batsman The game may turn out to be a game-changer for MI if Rilee Rossouw manages to form partnerships at the top of the order with aggressive strokes. With his experience playing T20 leagues around the world, Rossouw has a reputation for coming under pressure and accelerating games as needed. Rossouw might be the injection MI will need to give depth in the middle overs and allow players like Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit Sharma to come out and play freely at the top.
Conclusion With IPL Auction 2025 around the corner, Mumbai Indians will do some shrewd maneuvering to add strength to their squad, especially in the foreign player department. Fast bowlers are going to be some of the major targets for MI, especially going by the nature of Wankhede Stadium's pitch. Josh Hazlewood, Lockie Ferguson, and Adam Zampa will bring fire in their bowling attack while Dawid Malan, Shimron Hetmyer, and Rilee Rossouw will provide the batting lineup depth and versatility. If MI can get these players within the remaining budget, they will have a strong, well-balanced squad to challenge for the title in IPL 2025.
Keep watching CMITimes for more updates on the IPL Auction 2025 and Mumbai Indians' strategies!

[ad_1] A snap from the interview A RevSportz Exclusive Sourav Ganguly is one of the best analysts of the sport. As captain and leader, he changed the face of Indian cricket. It was his 144 at The Gabba that defined the tour of Australia in 2003-4 and when Ganguly says, “Send Shami immediately to Australia”, it is something that will surely be taken note of. In this hour-long chat in the ground floor living room of his Behala residence, Ganguly opened up on all things Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Part 1 Excerpts: Boria: Shami has bowled 40-plus overs. He has picked up 7 wickets. After this, there aren’t any more Ranji Trophy games. Do you think he should be sent to Australia? Sourav: Absolutely. He must go. He doesn’t need to play the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He should do to Australia by the next flight. Go and bowl in the nets. Even if he doesn’t play in Perth, he will get to bowl and get ready. Boria: Without Shami, is this bowling underdone? Sourav: No. Little bit weakened, because [Jasprit] Bumrah, Shami, [Mohammed] Siraj is stronger than Bumrah, Siraj, and Prasidh [Krishna]. Definitely stronger. But fast bowlers do get injured, you cannot do anything about it. Mohammed Shami needs to be on the flight to Australia as soon as possible. Boria: India going in with a 0-3 series loss to New Zealand. How do you look at it? Can India compete? Sourav: I think for me, at the moment, India – Australia, India – England are two of the best series in world cricket. Obviously, the Ashes is there. But I think these two series will be keenly watched and going through the social media, through news and all, I can feel there is a lot of excitement in Australia. Rightfully so, for five Test matches. [Virat] Kohli and Rohit [Sharma] may not be going back to the country again after this. There is enough in this series. It is going to be a fascinating series, and I am looking forward to it. I wish I could be there to work on the series, but my other commitments are stopping me from doing it. It is going to be a great series, and I will be up in the morning to watch the action from Perth. I know it is not an early morning wake up time, not at 5:30 because of time differences, and that should help! India has a chance, of course. I know they did not play well against New Zealand, and they are responsible for it. They cannot play on such pitches. I have repeatedly said this. When you have the quality of [Ravichandran] Ashwin, [Ravindra] Jadeja, Kuldeep [Yadav], Axar [Patel], and Washington [Sundar], you do not need pitches which turn square because it takes the batting away. There has not been not a single 100 in that series, except the one by Sarfaraz [Khan] in Bangalore. That speaks volumes on how the surfaces played throughout the Test matches. And I say this repeatedly. I said this when I was captain, when Virat was captain, some of the pitches spun a lot. It takes the batting away. Batsmen lose confidence if they do not score runs game after game, and I think that is something which needs to be looked at. I have always said win Test matches in five days, not in three days. And with Ashwin and Jadeja, Test matches change very quickly on day three, day four, day five in India. It may look flat and nothing happening on day one, day two and then suddenly things start changing. That is what they should look at. Gautam [Gambhir] needs to make sure the pitches are better. They are a good side, and against Australia, it is going to be a fascinating series. A lot of people are saying they will be whitewashed, but I do not think so. The pitches will be better. EXCLUSIVE “If I was him, I’d play the Perth Test,” says Sourav Ganguly on Rohit Sharma. Ganguly believes that #RohitSharma will feature in the Perth Test.@ThumsUpOfficial @BoriaMajumdar @SGanguly99 @ImRo45 #SouravGanguly #AUSvsIND #BorderGavaskarTrophy2024 pic.twitter.com/Bj3vD5pXux — RevSportz Global (@RevSportzGlobal) November 16, 2024 Boria: Are you worried about the fragility in India’s batting?
Sourav: No, I do not think the batting is fragile. I personally believe from a career standpoint and also reputation-wise, it is a make-or-break series for [Shubman] Gill. I heard he is injured, and I hope he recovers quickly. For him and Yashasvi [Jaiswal], it is going to be a big series. I hope Rohit Sharma goes very soon. As a team, they need him. He has had a baby boy a couple of days ago. So, I am sure he can leave as early as possible and today is the 16th. If I was in his position, he should be playing the Perth Test. It is on 22nd, which is still almost a week away. Because it is a big series and maybe he will not go to Australia after this. He is a fantastic captain, and the team needs his leadership to start with. Boria: You were instrumental in making him Test captain at the time you were BCCI President, because he wasn’t keen initially. Sourav: Yeah, because he did not want to as he was captaining in every other format. So, there was a lot of workload anyway on him. But I do not believe in workload. Test captain of India will always be Test captain of India, and I told him so. I said do not finish your career not being Test captain of India. Boria: Tell me something. KL Rahul, what is his problem? Is it in the mind? Sourav: Yeah, confidence. He has to speak to himself. He has to speak to himself and say, just put everything behind. Ups and downs are part and parcel of sports. Confidence will go up and down. You have to bring it back by working hard in the nets. I know he has gone through a lot. Lucknow Super Giants have released him. I do not know whether they will buy him back in the auction. I am sure he will find a good team and get his worth in the IPL. But these things put pressure on players. In and out of the team, he is seeing young players play well in T20s. You see what they have done in South Africa. He has to change and cannot keep playing the same way and expect to be picked all the time, because somebody else will come and get picked. So, I think he has got to sit with himself and get away from everything, all his friends and family, team and IPL owners, auctions and self-discover. Look at the mirror and say, I need to play differently. I need to get tough inside and fight this period. He has got a fantastic 100 in South Africa last time round. He can score hundreds in these conditions. But the mind has to believe that, and the fight has to be there. Boria: If Rohit does not make it to the Perth, you would open with Rahul, because that is what Gautam indicated? Sourav: I think so, and play Dhruv Jurel in the middle. Boria: Gautam Gambhir – so much flak already after one series! Sourav: All I will say is let him be. I saw some criticism on what he said in the press conference. It is the way he is. Let him be. When he won the IPL, he was the same. You were going gaga over him. Just because he has lost three Test matches and a one-day series against Sri Lanka, the straight talk has not been looked at nicely. But that is the way he is. And why not? Australians, from the time I have watched cricket, they have been tough for you. They have played their cricket that way, whether it was [Steve] Waugh, [Ricky] Ponting or [Matthew] Hayden. So, there is nothing wrong with what Gambhir has said. That is the way he is, and he fights. He competes, so let us give him a chance. It has just been two-three months, and you are passing judgement on him. EXCLUSIVE “He should be on the flight to Australia” says Sourav Ganguly on Mohammed Shami@BoriaMajumdar @SGanguly99 @MdShami11 #SouravGanguly #AUSvsIND #BorderGavaskarTrophy2024 pic.twitter.com/iSaWzPmWvr — RevSportz Global (@RevSportzGlobal) November 16, 2024 Boria: The Australians have started already, and they will go after him. What is the problem if he says something? Sourav: No problem whatsoever. Let him say whatever he likes, for that will help him. Ultimately you have to go and play the game hard. That is the way it is, and it has happened for ages against Australian cricket teams.
That makes this series even more competitive and even more followed by people. So let it be. Let’s give Gambhir a chance. You have given him a job. In two months, you cannot pass a judgement on him. I know the next nine months, it will be very hard for him. Five Test matches in England. Champions Trophy. It will decide Gambhir. So, from my point of view, give him a chance and do not be too hard on him. Part 2 to follow. On Kohli, Rishabh Pant, Bumrah, India’s choice of spinner at Perth and more. Pakistan Beats New Zealand By 88 Runs In First T20.
A full-strength Pakistani team easily defeated New Zealand in the opening game of this series, winning by an 88-run margin. This did little to remove the notion that these two teams are not on equal footing. Pakistan was set up for an impressive total on a pitch that gave much to the fast bowlers thanks to a 79-run standoff of 43 balls between Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub, who each struck a brisk 47. The 182 Pakistan was knocked out for was still far over average, especially when compared to a bowling lineup of their caliber. And it only took them 15.3 overs to dismiss New Zealand for 94 runs. It was perhaps fitting that the PSL 2023 champion Lahore Qalandars' golden trio all featured in the first T20I in Lahore and each made their presence known in a major way. Zaman Khan, Haris Rauf, and Shaheen Shah Afridi each claimed one of the first three wickets, and Daryl Mitchell's short stint has been put an end by Faheem Ashraf. In the eleventh over, it reduced New Zealand to 56 for 4, giving them an asking rate of more than 13. It was an inappropriate matchup given Pakistan's unbeatable bowling class and New Zealand's expertise in batting in the bottom order. With the final five wickets going for just six runs, the finish came quite swiftly.
Saim Ayub and Fakhar Zaman enlighten Lahore.
Ayub and Fakhar starting the batting in a T20 would be a great addition to many lineups, but with Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan returning, they each fell a place. Even for a pair of that caliber, Adam Milne's speed presented several challenges, and inside the first five overs, the New Zealander had removed both the captain and wicketkeeper of Pakistan. Even though the powerplay was almost over, Fakhar and Ayub continued to act aggressively. The tone was established with Ayub's two fours in the sixth over. The ninth over, which had three fours and dismantled Jimmy Neesham, saw a change in momentum, but it was the next two overs that saw New Zealand completely lose control. Sodhi had only given up two runs in his first over, but in his second over, Fakhar and Ayub each hit a six, and then Milne, who had been the greatest bowler up to that moment, took the same beating. Between overs nine and eleven, the partnership scored 46 runs, and Pakistan was making good progress.
Henry scores three times as New Zealand responds
If there is any solace New Zealand can take from this match, it is the potential weakness in Pakistan's lower middle order. With the majority of the top-order batsmen naturally, New Zealand started to nibble away menacingly. While Sodhi removed Fakhar at the other end, Matt Henry came back to dismiss Shadab Khan and Iftikhar Ahmed off consecutive deliveries, giving him a hat-trick. After four wickets went for 22 runs, the visitors saw an opening to dismiss Pakistan. It was wasted, but Pakistan was rescued by a cameo from Imad Wasim and Faheem Ashraf, and two boundaries from Rauf enabled Pakistan to pass 180. However, Matt Henry made a comeback for the last over and struck with his first ball due to an outstanding boundary catch, providing comfort for New Zealand. He was able to bowl Pakistan out in the stipulated 20 overs, giving him a hat-trick.
With its speed, Pakistan injured New Zealand.
For any lineup on any surface, Zaman, Afridi, and Rauf are fearsome attacks, and they proved to be too much for New Zealand to manage. They were never able to maintain the run pace or even hold onto enough wickets to hold out any thoughts of extending the game while chasing down 183. With Chad Bowes squared up after only three deliveries from Zaman, Afridi then finished off Will Young with a brilliant inswinger, the batter's sloppy stroke being no match for the ball. A couple of counterattacking innings from Neesham and Mark Chapman helped restore some scoreboard respectability, giving Pakistan enough breathing room to stop worrying. The way the game sped up towards its climax gave off the strong sense that Pakistan might end the match nearly whenever they wanted. Neesham holed out to Rauf, and New Zealand fell to the ground. Before Rauf returned to knock back Ben Lister's stumps, Imad had already removed Milne and Henry, giving him 4 for 18, which is a career-high for T20Is.
Conclusion
The first T20I between Pakistan and New Zealand was won convincingly by Pakistan with an 88-run margin. Pakistan's opening batsmen, Fakhar Zaman, and Saim Ayub set up an impressive total of 182 on a pitch that gave much to the fast bowlers. New Zealand's bowling lineup, including Adam Milne, presented challenges to the opening pair, but they continued to act aggressively and scored 46 runs between overs nine and eleven. New Zealand's batting lineup struggled against Pakistan's unbeatable bowling class, and they were unable to maintain the run pace or hold onto enough wickets to extend the game while chasing down 183. With Chad Bowes and Will Young, both dismissed early, the visitors were reduced to 56 for 4 in the eleventh over. While a couple of counterattacking innings from Jimmy Neesham and Mark Chapman helped restore some scoreboard respectability, Pakistan's bowlers proved too much for New Zealand to handle. Matt Henry's hat trick provided some comfort for New Zealand, but Pakistan's lower middle order was rescued by a cameo from Imad Wasim and Faheem Ashraf, and two boundaries from Haris Rauf enabled Pakistan to pass 180. Despite New Zealand's potential weakness in Pakistan's lower middle order, they were unable to capitalize on it, and Pakistan's fearsome attack of Zaman, Afridi, and Rauf proved too much for them to manage. Overall, Pakistan's performance was impressive, particularly their opening batsmen and bowling attack. New Zealand will need to regroup and come up with a better strategy if they hope to compete in the remainder of the series. After a comprehensive win in the first T20I, Pakistan will be looking to continue their winning momentum against New Zealand in the second T20I match scheduled for tomorrow. Their opening pair of Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub will once again be the key for Pakistan to set a good total, while their bowling attack, led by Shaheen Afridi, Hasan Ali and Haris Rauf, will aim to restrict New Zealand's batting lineup. On the other hand, New Zealand will be eager to bounce back and level the series. They would be hoping for their top order batsmen, including Devon Conway and Glenn Phillips, to fire and provide a solid platform for the middle order to build upon. Their bowling department would be led by the likes of Adam Milne and Ish Sodhi, who have the potential to take wickets in the middle overs. Overall, the second T20I promises to be an exciting encounter between two quality teams. It will be interesting to see how both sides adjust their strategies and tactics based on the conditions and performance from the first match. Read the full article

The Different Types of Cricket Balls
There is a widespread belief that the type of ball used has a significant effect on the game. This seems to make no sense in terms of physics.
The ball starts life as a large sheet of leather, dyed either red or white. It is then cut into four pieces and stitched together covering a string-spun chunk of cork.
Durability
The cricket ball is a crucial component of the game, providing batsmen and bowlers with unique challenges. From the distinct swing and seam movement of a red leather Heavy cricket balls in Test matches to the visibility and behaviour of white and pink cricket balls in limited-overs and day-night tests, understanding the differences between the different types of cricket balls helps players adapt their skills and tactics accordingly.
Durability is essential for a cricket ball, as it needs to be able to withstand highspeed play. It also requires good stitching, as it must be able to withstand wear and tear without compromising its structural integrity.
The TENNEX cricket tennis balls are designed for durability, ensuring they can stand up to the rigours of the game. The heavy design provides a more challenging training experience for players, helping them develop their strength and improve their batting and bowling skills. These balls are also ideal for casual play and practice sessions, as they can withstand a variety of weather conditions.
Weight
The weight of the cricket ball is important because it affects the amount of momentum imparted on the bat. Batsmen often choose a bat that feels light or heavy to them, depending on their strength. This is because a bat with the right amount of weight will allow them to maximize their swing speed.
The spherical cricket ball is made from leather that has been dyed the iconic red or modern white. It has a cork core, which is layered with tightly wound string and covered by a leather case with a slightly raised seam. The top-quality balls used for the highest level of competition have a covering constructed from four pieces of leather shaped like the peel of a quartered orange, with one hemisphere rotated by 90 degrees to the other and stitched together using six rows of stitches.
Bowling faster is a goal of many cricketers. Petersen and colleagues found that a 10week program of training with underweight and overweight cricket balls did not increase the bowling speed of male club-level cricket players.
Bounce
The bounce of a cricket ball is an essential factor in its performance, as it influences the bowler’s ability to swing and grip the pitch. A new ball has a higher bounce than an older one, and this is due to the difference in its materials and manufacturing. It is also influenced by the surface conditions and weather.
In general, bowlers described as having a heavy ball are not actually very fast, but they are able to impact the bat with greater force than is suggested by their pace. This is because they are able to generate a lot of backspin.
When choosing a cricket ball, it is important to consider its weight, material quality and seam strength. It is also vital to ensure that it is durable and that its seam position and stitching are properly placed, especially for spin bowlers. The textured surface is also important, and brands such as Kookaburra and SG are known for their excellent grip.
Feel
In a cricket ball, a cork sphere is layered with tightly wound string and covered by two leather halves. Each half is stitched with an inner seam and a raised outer seam. The seams create a distinctive feel when struck by a bat. The higher the seam, the more the ball will vibrate when hit. Usually, a high quality ball for international level cricket will have three seams and six rows of stitches. Lower-quality balls may have two seams.
Often the best way to find out how heavy a cricket ball is is by playing with one. Ideally, you will use a regulation cricket bat rather than a tape ball. This will ensure that the bat is safe if it is hit by the ball.
Commentators often describe a bowler as having a “heavy ball”. What does this mean in physics terms? A heavy ball simply means that a delivery seems to impact the bat with more force than is expected from its pace.

1. Research Is Key
The first step to becoming a successful Dream11 player is thorough research. Always stay updated on player performances, injuries, and pitch conditions. Websites, sports news, and social media platforms can provide valuable insights. Knowing which players are in form and which teams are performing well can significantly influence your team selection.
2. Analyze Player Form and Stats
Once you have a grasp on the teams and matches, analyze individual player stats. Look at their recent performances, average runs scored, wickets taken, and overall consistency. A player who has performed well in the last few matches is more likely to continue that trend. Also, consider historical performance against specific teams, as some players excel against particular opponents.
3. Understand Pitch and Weather Conditions
The pitch and weather can greatly affect a match's outcome. Some pitches favor batsmen, while others are more conducive to bowlers. For instance, a dry pitch may assist spinners, whereas a green pitch might benefit fast bowlers. Weather conditions, like humidity and cloud cover, can also impact player performance. Check the weather forecast and pitch reports before finalizing your team.
4. Create a Balanced Team
When selecting your Dream11 team, aim for a balanced lineup. Include a mix of batsmen, bowlers, all-rounders, and a wicketkeeper. All-rounders can be particularly valuable as they contribute with both bat and ball. Ensure that your team is not overly reliant on a few star players; having depth can protect you from unexpected performances.
5. Pay Attention to Captain and Vice-Captain Selection
Choosing the right captain and vice-captain can significantly impact your points. The captain earns double points, while the vice-captain earns 1.5 times the points. Selecting players who are in good form and likely to perform well in the match is crucial. Additionally, consider choosing players who are likely to bat higher up the order or bowl more overs.
6. Join Public and Private Leagues
Participating in various leagues can enhance your experience and skills. Public leagues allow you to compete against a wide range of players, while private leagues enable you to challenge your friends. This competition can help you learn from others and improve your strategies.
7. Review and Reflect
If you are looking for the best dream11 match tips, You have to review the performance of the team in the past. After each match, take the time to review your team’s performance. Analyze what worked and what didn’t. Did your captain perform well? Did you overlook any critical factors? This reflection process is vital for your growth as a player. Learn from your mistakes and adjust your strategies for future matches.
8. Stay Disciplined and Patient
Finally, remember that success in Dream11 doesn’t come overnight. Stay disciplined in your approach, and don’t let emotions dictate your decisions. It’s easy to get carried away by a single match or player performance. Instead, focus on the long term and keep honing your skills.

Week-17
Wed 21/08, 18:00: T20 XI vs Bristol Misfits CC Sat 24/08, 13:00: 1st XI vs Congresbury CC Sat 24/08, 13:00: Patchway CC vs 2nd XI
T20 XI vs Bristol Misfits CC – Wed 21/08, 18:00
Our final T20 fixture of the season sees the T20 XI hosting Bristol Misfits CC at Abbots Leigh Road on Wed 21st August. This match is a friendly encounter, offering the side an opportunity to showcase their flair in the short format. As the nights begin to draw in, a prompt start at 6 pm is crucial, so please ensure all players arrive on time.
The T20 XI will be looking to end the T20 campaign on a high, with the squad eager to entertain the home crowd one last time this summer. Let's hope for a display of fireworks with both bat and ball to cap off the midweek cricket season.
1st XI vs Congresbury CC – Sat 24/08, 13:00
The 1st XI, captained by Jonny Weber, will be back in action on Sat 24th August at 1 pm as they host Congresbury CC.
Sitting in 9th place, the 1st XI faces a critical match against the 7th-placed visitors. With Congresbury CC currently 22 points ahead, a victory this week would significantly reduce that gap heading into the final week of the season.
The 1st XI has been desperately unlucky in recent weeks, finding themselves on the losing side of several closely contested matches.
Last week’s defeat to Stapleton CC at their Sleepy Hollow ground was another frustrating chapter. Alex Brussow shone on debut with a well-crafted 47, ably supported by Scott Walker (34) and Ed Markey (30). Despite these efforts and a generous contribution of 48 extras, the team’s competitive total of 212 proved just shy of what was needed.
Defending 212, James Tucker (2 for 48), Otis Hillenbrand (3 for 47), and Syed Ali Eazaz (2 for 30) kept the match finely poised. The bowlers made inroads at regular intervals, but a stubborn 8th wicket stand of 26 from Stapleton CC saw them home. It was a bitter pill to swallow, but there is plenty of fight left in this squad.
This week, the 1st XI will be determined to reverse their fortunes. Jonny Weber will rally his troops, looking for strong performances across the board. The 1st XI has the firepower to trouble any opposition. A win here would not only lift spirits but also provide a much-needed buffer ahead of the final match of the season.
Patchway CC vs 2nd XI – Sat 24/08, 13:00
The 2nd XI, led by Mike Dean, will be brimming with confidence as they head to Patchway CC on Sat 24th August for a 1 pm start.
Following back-to-back wins against Nailsea CC and league leaders Barrow Gurney CC, the 2nd XI is riding a wave of momentum. Their impressive performances have propelled them to 7th in the table.
Last weekend, the 2nd XI delivered a commanding display against League Leaders Barrow Gurney CC, showcasing the depth and resilience of the side.
After being put into bat on a pitch offering unpredictable bounce, the team compiled an imposing 214 for 7.
James "Big Show" Holdsworth was the star of the innings, bludgeoning his way to a magnificent 61, including several towering sixes that lit up social media. Elon Musk himself might have taken notice, as "#HoldsworthSixes" trended for much of the afternoon.
Contributions from Adrian Weeks (35), Atif Saleem (32), and Ben Caddick (25) helped bolster the total, with John Pugsley providing a steady hand at the end with an unbeaten 20.
The bowlers then backed up the batting effort superbly. Andy Hamilton (0 for 20) and Adrian Weeks (2 for 21) bowled with precision, restricting the flow of runs and putting Barrow Gurney under immense pressure.
The introduction of James Holdsworth into the attack yielded immediate dividends, as he cleaned up the Gurners’ No.3 with a delivery that would have troubled even the best batsmen. Allen Cotterell (0 for 19) and Ben Caddick (1 for 25) further tightened the screws before Atif Saleem wrapped up prospects of a late onslaught with 1 for 12. The match was never in doubt as Barrow Gurney CC finished on 179 for 5, well short of the target.
As the 2nd XI heads to Patchway, Mike Dean will be keen to maintain this winning streak. The team’s recent success has been built on a solid all-round effort, with every player contributing to the cause. In it's current guise the 2nd XI will be a formidable opponent for any side.
Club News & Announcements
As we approach the end of the season, it’s vital for all players to update their availability on Pitchero.
A quick 30-second check can make a huge difference in ensuring that we field the strongest possible sides each week.
The selection process becomes much smoother, and the club can plan accordingly.
A special thank you must go to all our volunteers who work tirelessly behind the scenes.
Without their dedication and hard work, the cricket club simply wouldn’t function.
Whether it’s preparing the pitches, managing the clubhouse, or organising match days, their contributions are invaluable, and we are deeply grateful for all they do.
Let’s make Week 17 one to remember! Best of luck to all the teams.

What is Drawn in Test Match?
In the world of cricket, a Test match can end in various ways, and one intriguing outcome is a draw. Reddyannaa, a renowned cricket analyst, provides valuable insights into what this result means and how it impacts teams.
A Test match, which spans over five days, is considered drawn when neither team has secured a victory by the end of the allotted time. According to Reddyannaa, several factors contribute to this result. One primary reason is that the pitch conditions may change drastically over the course of the match, making it challenging for either side to capitalize on their advantage. Additionally, a draw often reflects a well-fought contest where both teams’ bowlers and batsmen demonstrate exceptional skill and resilience.
Reddyannaa notes that draws can be significant as they showcase the strength of both teams’ strategies and adaptability. While a draw might not be as exciting as a decisive win, it often highlights the competitive nature of Test cricket and the tactical battles that unfold over five days.
Understanding these nuances, as explained by Reddyannaa, helps fans appreciate the depth of Test cricket and the strategic intricacies involved in each match.

[ad_1] Ravichandran Ashwin with Ravindra Jadeja after a wicket (PC: BCCI/X) Rohit Sharma was in denial at the post-match press conference, after India’s humiliating home series loss against New Zealand. The Ravichandran Ashwin-Ravindra Jadeja question was duly asked, and the India captain stonewalled on the spin duo. “There’s too much expectation on those two guys,” said Rohit. “Every game they play, they are expected to take wickets, they are expected to run through the opponents and they are expected to win Test matches for us. I don’t think that’s fair. It’s the responsibility of all of us to make sure we get the Test match wins, not just the two guys.” Of course, the skipper was never going to throw his two senior teammates under the bus, but deep down, the team management knows how Ashwin and Jadeja have struggled against the New Zealand batsmen in the ongoing series. Collectively, the two spinners have taken just 12 wickets and leaked runs. In spin-friendly Pune, they were out-bowled by Mitchell Santner and even by their junior teammate, Washington Sundar. Yes, Rohit’s defensive captaincy, especially in the first session of the second Test in Pune, didn’t help the spinners. But the way they struggled to contain Rachin Ravindra & Co was a serious matter of concern. New Zealand came here with a clear plan. They attacked the Indian tweakers, never allowing them to settle into a rhythm. They weren’t afraid of going over the top. But given Ashwin and Jadeja’s experience and skill set, they were expected to come up with a counter-ploy. Ashwin searched for the right length and right pace, while Jadeja’s control deserted him. He also struggled to get the zip off the wicket, something he is known for. The series defeat against New Zealand ended India’s astounding streak of 18 consecutive home series wins. They were unbeaten at home for 12 years, and Ashwin and Jadeja were central to that golden run. Since forming a deadly spin partnership in 2012, Ashwin has taken 326 wickets in 55 home Tests, while Jadeja has accounted for 225 scalps in 47 matches. But the off-spinner from Tamil Nadu is 38, while the left-arm spinner from Saurashtra will turn 36 in a month. Father Time spares no one and they are gradually entering the twilight zone. The question is, who next? Indian cricket has a like-for-like replacement for Jadeja in Axar Patel. Also, some other left-arm spinners like Manav Suthar and Saurabh Kumar are doing well in domestic cricket. But there’s no off-spinner in sight who can be a readymade replacement for Ashwin. Washington ran through New Zealand batting on Pune turner, but by his own admission, he is a specialist batsman who bowls off-spin. And not only the spin department, India’s Test cupboard looks bare, with transition on the anvil. As far as batting is concerned, the team is going to Australia for a five-Test series with two walking wickets (on form), a fair-weather batsman who mostly scores runs in second innings, a middle-order batsman who has kept consistency at arm’s length and a callow youngster whose technique might come under the scanner on fast and bouncy Australian pitches. The selectors have discarded CheteshwarPujara and Ajinkya Rahane because they are on the wrong side of thirty and without millions of followers on social media. As for the next generation, except Yashasvi Jaiswal, very few inspire confidence. Moving to fast bowling, and in Mohammed Shami’s absence, Jasprit Bumrah lacks a world-class new-ball partner, which might hurt India in Australia. Coming back to Ashwin and Jadeja, both have been picked for the tour Down Under. Can they regain their mojo? Some high-profile careers ended in Australia in 2011-12. The upcoming tour could see a repeat. Also read: After New Zealand’s stunning series victory, India’s path to the World Test Championship final at Lord’s has become steeper. Research and Analysis
Successful fantasy cricket players invest time in researching and analyzing player statistics, recent performances, pitch conditions, and weather forecasts. This information helps in making informed decisions when selecting your team.
Balancing Your Team
A well-balanced team is essential for success. Ensure you have a mix of batsmen, bowlers, all-rounders, and wicket-keepers. Each type of player contributes differently to the overall score, and a balanced team increases your chances of winning.

Most fantasy cricket platforms have a budget cap for creating a team. Allocate your budget wisely, ensuring you select top-performing players while also considering undervalued players who can provide high returns.
Captain and Vice-Captain Selection
The captain and vice-captain of your team play a crucial role, as they earn 2x and 1.5x points, respectively. Choose these players carefully, focusing on those who are in good form and have a high probability of performing well in the match.

Use Multiple Lineups
Diversify your risk by creating multiple lineups for different contests. This strategy allows you to test different player combinations and increase your chances of winning.
Analyze Pitch and Weather Conditions

Monitor Player Form
A player’s recent form is a good indicator of their potential performance. Focus on selecting players who have been consistently performing well in recent matches.
