She was meant to be meeting her husband in a few weeks, her parents had arranged the match, it would be beneficial to both kingdoms. It was why she had been put on that ship, to go meet him, to become the future queen of another kingdom. The weather had other ideas, there had been terrible storms, the captain had not been able to keep the ship afloat, the last thing she remembered was the water beginning to fill the rooms. After that it was pitch black, everything was still pitch black, she was cold and her dress felt particularly heavy. Maybe she was already dead and she was meant to live feeling this way for the rest of eternity.

The brunette just looked at him with a deadpan look. She could be patient, had ample patience honestly. However, Colin just seemed to know what buttons to push to cause her impatience - both in good and irritating ways. If the Captain's daughter didn't know any better, she'd assume that Colin enjoyed pushing her buttons. "I have plenty patience, I haven't thrown you overboard yet, have I?" she fixed him with a sickly sweet smile.

Getting attacked by pirates on the way to meet her much older soon to be husband had not been something Penelope expected, but perhaps it was the more favorable outcome as word of her betrothed's cruelty and malice was well known, even in England. She was taken with the other hostages and while they cowered, she stayed sat upright, staring the captain down, even with her wrists bound and gagged she showed no fear.

What was the worst he could do-- kill her? She was already dead the moment her mother signed that contract and they all knew it. With some effort she managed to work her gag down and out of her mouth. "Who are you and what right do you have to take us?"

This trip was supposed to be a sort of rebirth for Anne, a fresh start in a new place. A new name, a new story, a new chance to be whoever she wanted to be. The ferry ride across the seas was the first trial in a set of dozens to come, she presumed, but she had no idea just how much of a trial it would be.

She hardly remembers the ship going down. She remembers turbulence, but she'd merely attributed to choppy waters. She remembered raised voices, but assumed it was drunken men arguing over cards, or something just as trivial. It wasn't until she'd noticed the water at her feet, or heard the sloshing of waves onto the deck. Anything after that was a blur. Until she came to, her skin caked with dried sand and her dress still with salt.

🏴‍☠️ ───── she shifted her stand as she turned towards the man behind her who's voice she had definitely heard and assumed it was addressed at her. "despite any suggested belief here, i do in fact know what it is i'm doing, thank you." she spoke as she turned and finished the knot before she stepped back. she had managed to get herself passage on this ship she was not about to blow it now. "see, perfectly done."

"I do not wish to belong to anyone but you, Colin-- I wish to live out my days on this ship at your side, learning to navigate, watching Michael cheat at cards and listening to your many stories of your travels. I wish to be your wife" she finally spoke the words she had been trying to work up the courage to say.

🧜‍♀️ ───── she knew her father would lecture her for this, that she should not be so curious but the world above. her mother had been and maybe it was just the perfect way to connect? she slowly surfaced her head above the water although she kept her nose at level with the water looking towards the grand ship before her. her fingers began to wave through the waters as she dipped down once more and with a flick of her tale she ventured forwards to the ship.

as her fingers touched the wood she reached up and tried to pull herself up before she cursed and dropped down again moving around but as she moved back to try to look up doing her best to avoid eyes she saw him. she should have dipped quickly or flushed into the base of the boat but she found herself frozen at the sight of him. it was a human. he seemed so ... other worldly and to her he was.

Penelope let him direct her face so she was looking up at him, he really was far better than he would ever give himself credit for and that made her sad. The realization that he called her attractive took a moment to sink in and her smile only grew, even as a blush dusted her cheeks. "If I am good, then so are you, and kind, loyal and you have a good heart" she assured him.

"Colin-- I want what I have now, a life on your ship and at your side, for the rest of my days. I am happy here-- things are not always ideal and I do wish some of the men would wash more. But even on the roughest days and through the harshest storms, I have found a home here with you" she stood finally so she was closer to eye level with him, her hand still holding his. "I deserve anything I desire and that is to stay with you."

we've talked about this before but marie flees to england with louis, and is under charlotte/george's protection. they become good friends, and share their struggles and stuff (we both play both so whichever you'd want, i'd take the other)

Pirate!Colin/Ariel: (located at @pirtecolin)

Ariel saves colin's life when he is a kid (and so is she) and is in a storm, brings him to a trusted pirate friend, and they kinda grow up together? could turn romantic or not.

being a musketeer (basically a guard/solider) he offers to escort mary home, but stays because he has fallen in love with her, but knows he can never have her (can be returned or not, i love angst.)

basically after she's on the run she ends up on colin's ship, and decides she's actually safer as a priate and becomes pirate queen
