"How does the original story connect to Disney?" is a question that has often been asked about Kingdom Hearts...and it ought to be asked more often, as the answer shows how the series lost its way.
In the first Kingdom Hearts, the original story is about the Keyblade Master trying to find his lost friends while saving the worlds of the universe from being consumed by a mass invasion of dark creatures, the Heartless, whose evil master ultimately seeks to conclude the invasion by absorbing the Heart of All Worlds assembled through each world's destruction hidden within the Realm of Darkness.
How Disney fits in is pretty obvious. Not only are the worlds in question largely Disney-based, but Donald and Goofy are the Keyblade Master's companions, Mickey Mouse is the leader of a resistance effort who operates the home base where refugees of lost worlds which includes some noteworthy Disney characters take shelter, until he can take physical form the Heartless' master's henchmen leading the invasion are a group of Disney villains that manipulates the Keyblade Master's male friend to the side of evil, and the magical beings who hold the power to unlock the way to the Heart of All Worlds are a group of Disney heroines with the Keyblade Master's female friend being among their ranks! What's more, the original iconography of hearts, keys and keyholes, "gummi" blocks, a money system called "munny", a majestic castle where villains hold maidens captive, and dark creatures with glowing yellow eyes all fit perfectly with Disney's usual sensibilities like an oversized glove.
At first glance, Chain of Memories doesn't seem like it does things as well, since beyond having Donald, Goofy, and Jiminy Cricket as companions for Sora and Mickey Mouse as companion for Riku, whom also has an important moment with Maleficent, the Disney worlds are just memory-based filler episodes in between the main plot progressing. However, said main plot is all about, yet again, a majestic castle where villains hold a maiden captive, the sort of archetypal fairy tale situation that Disney has always engaged with. Yes it's a dark and twisted take on it, but Disney also hasn't been afraid to go dark when necessary. Even the theme of memory is another fitting one for Disney, which has a hold on so many people's childhood memories. It still legitimately feels like a Disney RPG...heck, it feels like a Disney video game, a very specific one at that!
Kingdom Hearts II is about the Keyblade Master's journey continuing (and ultimately concluding) as a new group of villains conspires to destroy the universe through the spread of Heartless and acquire Kingdom Hearts, this time via the Heart of All Beings assembled through the Keyblade freeing captive hearts from the Heartless.
While this story pushes the Square Enix side more heavily, the end result is the perfect balance between it and Disney, which is still being considered. The important Disney characters from the original game remain important plus we get new important characters like Yen Sid, Pete and Scrooge McDuck, a plot point about a virtual world inside a computer at the start is echoed with the new home base world being heavily tied to the world of Disney's Tron, the main villains are spooky cursed beings exactly like the villains in the world of Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl, and above all the core threat will matter more to players who are Disney fans because it is primarily hearts of beings from the worlds of Disney that the villains are sacrificing for their evil objective. And even if you're not a Disney fan, Sora is friends with all these Disney characters, regardless of how plot-relevant they or visits to their worlds may be, which adds a highly personal stake in the story.
So the KH Trinity aces this test. Moving on to the series beyond...
358/2 Days: If the 1.5 cutscene movie having no actual cutscenes with Disney characters beyond one with Mickey that has literally nothing to do with the story and is only there as set-up for KH2 didn't clue you in, this game doesn't do too well with Disney connecting to the original story. The situations in the Disney worlds are good, bridging the gap of what went down between KH and KH2 quite nicely, but the main characters seldom get involved or interact with any of the locals. The only important thing they do is destroy Heartless to form Kingdom Hearts. It is purely thanks to KH2 and the heavy lifting it did that allows it to feel natural for this story, a direct prequel, to have Disney worlds as settings at all, since otherwise you could place the action in original worlds and nothing would feel off.
Birth by Sleep: This is a true half-and-half situation. Because on the one hand, you get Disney worlds that all connect with the KH Trinity, characters like Mickey, Yen Sid, and Maleficent all being important, the Disney Princess group of the first KH being relevant again, important plot progression happening in said Princesses' worlds, and an "old-school Disney" sort of vibe that even the main enemy creatures get in on with their rubber hose style movements. Even the original plot being a Star Wars knock-off is fitting in retrospect now that Disney owns Star Wars. But on the other hand, the original iconography that once fit Disney so well back in the first KH is now being treated so seriously and less whimsically that it feels like Square Enix is just completely taking it over, with the Keyblade concept in particular turning into something far less unique and magical than it had been before. Also, while the main characters certainly interact with the Disney worlds and characters more than the ones of Days did, it always feels like they're leaving no real lasting impact on them. Maybe that's by design since otherwise they can't be as impacted by Sora and the original elements in KH, but it still sets an uncomfortable precedent to be repeated going forward.
Coded: Give this game one thing, Disney certainly matters to its story, given that it's kind of all about goings-on at Disney Castle with Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Chip and Dale, Maleficent and Pete, and of course Jiminy Cricket and his journal. It's a shame that none of that ends up mattering since the only part of the story that's important to the series narrative happens at the end and, aside from Mickey, is all about a bunch of original characters. But hey, it's still better than....
Dream Drop Distance: You put Disney in a game that's centered around dreams, and somehow make it feel like it doesn't matter aside from Mickey and Yen Sid. Just....how? How do you do that? The visits to the five Disney-based worlds don't matter and neither Sora or Riku have any real impact on any of what transpires there, a random excursion to Disney Castle to face Maleficent and Pete goes nowhere, and the original concepts have officially gone full Square Enix to the point of no longer gelling with Disney. Time travel with complicated rules and consequences whereas before it was just a whimsical door to the black-and-white past. A villain whose master plan is so omnipotent that it renders all the heroes' past victories meaningless and leaves them with no solid way of winning in the future. Clones of characters all over the place. Inception-style dream-within-dream mind screws. The literal cast of The World Ends With You playing the literal Reaper's Game. And a light, optimistic hero dumbed down, trivialized and ultimately deemed a failure all to prop up the dark, angsty hero. Also, I guess Pokémon are a thing now.
X/UX: All the Disney stuff is fake and unimportant. With that said, the fairy tale storybook framing of the main story in the original game / "season" did give off a decent Disney vibe. A shame the second "season" totally ruined that by making it all about Keyblade wielders inside another goddamn datascape, with more fucking time travel!
0.2 Birth by Sleep - A Fragmentary Passage: Mickey and Yen Sid are important characters and we see some destroyed Disney worlds.
Kingdom Hearts III: This story is about Sora and his friends preparing to fight Xehanort and his minions at a desert wasteland, and then they do. That's it. None of the visits to Disney Worlds have anything to do with that or impact it in any way; there's not even any crisis going on in the universe motivating the visits in the first place. Mickey, Yen Sid, Donald and Goofy, Jiminy Cricket, Scrooge McDuck, Remy and Merlin all get to be important to certain degrees, and the game itself is certainly full of Disney goodness for fans...it's just a shame that the original elements feel so divorced from it now. Everything that used to fit in with Disney - Keyblades and magic Keyholes, villains in black coats and the enemy creatures under their command, Kingdom Hearts itself, etc. - have so little interaction, intersection or interest with the Disney stuff that they've taken on their own, far less interesting identity. Even the new Disney worlds feel less like new incarnations of Disney properties set in an RPG universe and more like just....well, those Disney properties.
Melody of Memory: All the Disney stuff is fake and unimportant.
Dark Road: The main character's disgust at the actions of some Disney villains is used to justify him....becoming a villain himself. Because if there's one thing Disney is known for, it's stories where villainy is totally justified if done to keep other villains in line! Wait...
Missing Link: All the Disney stuff is fake and....
Kingdom Hearts IV: FINAL FANTASY VERSUS XIII!
Sigh....Is it any wonder I'm like this?

it's truly wild to me that there's still no proper successor to Sid Meier's Pirates! Live the Life. it's one of my favorite games of all time, and would *absolutely* work in the modern games landscape, and yet nobody has really done it. there have been other good pirate games (I think the one that's come closest is still AC Black Flag, which I love, but which is very much an assassin's creed game first and a pirate game second), but nothing doing the same thing SMP! is doing, and I think that's a fucking shame. and if Firaxis just wants to make a new one, that'd be great! it doesn't have to be them, but if anyone's gonna do it, no reason it shouldn't be the people with the license lol

10 Random Facts About Me
First off, thank you @venriliz for tagging me, I literally do not know what to say, but I'll try to come up with 10.
No 1. I was born November 17, but was supposed to be born on November 29th. I turned in a way that meant I would have come out feet first. No 2. I identify as non-binary, but I use She/He/They pronouns. Sid isn't my legal name, nor do I plan on legally changing it anytime soon, but I just identify with Sid more than my real name (I also just don't want my real name anywhere online) No 3. I have a ceramics and jewellery degree, only honors tho because the thought of staying another couple of years in schooling made me wanna gouge my eyeballs out. No 4. Much like Ven, I do not want children. I might change my mind in the future, but right now, no. I can barely take care of myself, why on earth would I bring a poor human who would also rely on me onto this planet.
No 5. Used to be Christian (was christaned and everything), but that was mainly because my mum's religious. Just started to not believe in it fully, but I also don't fully disagree with it. So that was just a winded way of saying I'm agnostic. No 6. My first Sim's game wasn't a mainline series, but was actually My Sims, for the Wii! (the worst version, PC is better). I played a few of the other games in the series, but nothing (NOTHING!) beats My SIms Agents. (EA, bring back My Sims, or port it to a console, I'm BEGGING! No 7. Since I post a lot more about Fashion Dreamer than Sims (1 post, 1 sims post), I have been playing the Syn Sophia games (the Style Boutiques games at least) since the original one on DS. (Syn Sophia, if you're able, post those games to the switch too! Or remake the first one!) I first owned a totally legal, not at all pirated, copy of it that totally didn't stop me from going past a certain point, hahaha🏴☠️ No 8. Outside of the Sims and Fashion Dreamer, games I enjoy playing are Ace Attorney, Persona, Detective Grimoire, Animal Crossing, Pokemon, and whatever indie game I can get my grubby little hands on. No 9. My user name was actually inspired by @/early-gape (I have had so many iterations of this user name of this god forsaken hell site/app), but I made it rat. Used to have a side blog called distressed-posum, cannot for the life of me remember what I reblogged there, but I'm fairly certain it was fanfic related. No 10. I'm Welsh! ...Nothing else to add really, just that I'm Welsh.
So some of those facts were a bit of a reach, but we're here, and it's over, I can go to bed (code for stay up until 12 watching funny videos on my phone.)
If you've got this far, then guess what, you've been tagged (code for I'm too tired to tag anyone it is 22:22pm, I have been at work all afternoon, it is hot as hell outside and our air conditioning is shit).
🍉 If you don't want to do it, then you know what you can do for me, is go here, click, and you can help save someone's life. 🍉
#i cannot believe i managed to do this#i saw the notification in my mentions and nearly screamed!#anyway#love you guys#also if you need me to add any tw tags please comment or send me a message

Sheldon Moldoff
When you think of uncredited Batman artist, one of the first would be Bill Finger. But many of the issues accredited, aka "bought from", to Bob Kane was revealed to actually have been done by artist and writer Sheldon Moldoff.
His early career was mostly drawing cover art for many of the most well-known hero's such as Green Lantern, Hawkman, and of course Batman---starting at #30. According to Mark Evanier, Moldoff even suggested to William Gaines the idea of a horror comic. Gaines later came out with the first horror comic Tales From the Crypt.
Sheldon Moldoff was a self-taught artist selling filler issues at 17 to DC editor Vincent Sullivan, the first possibly having been put in Action Comics #1, and hired right out of highschool to work as a ghost writer for Kane. He is now mostly known for his run on Batman 1953 to 1967, which had a prominent goofy tone to them. Within he would feature new characters such as Batwoman, Batgirl, Black Pirate, Ace the Bat-Hound, Poison Ivy, and Bat-Mite.
Other ghost artist of Kane included Jim Mooney, Dick Sprang, Winslow Mortimer, ect. This came from a deal Kane had with DC and according to Mr. Evanier "Kane could hire someone else to do the work, pay them low-end going rates for the industry, and live very well off what was left over." An artist named Lew Sayre Schwartz apparently did nearly all the work before Mr. Moldoff was brought in due to Mr. Schwartz moving on to other things.
Unfortunately when DC decided to rehaul the Batman titles to create them more realistically, Mr. Moldoff's style just wasn't cutting it and inkers Joe Giella and Sid Greene had to put in a lot of effort to make it work. This would push Sheldon Moldoff out of the job, doing a few things here and there, but his style was just deemed too "old-fashioned".
Fortunately it wouldn't be all sad as during the 80s as a cabbie and comic fan Dave Siegel arranged with Sheldon Moldoff to go to the Comic-Con International in San Diego. "Shelly was swamped with admirers who wanted to meet him. Many wanted to purchase re-creations he did of his classic covers. I asked him once which one was most requested and he thought for a moment then said, "Lately, anything with Bat-Mite on it." He designed that and many other well-known characters."
He would pass away in 2012 at age 91 due to kidney failure.

Gangs of the Isle and their politics
At least before the series starts
Rotten to the Core Four/Mal's Dragons (4) - Mal (Leader) - Jay - Evie - Carlos - Ash Westergaard
Mal's gang started with Jay trying to pickpocket her at age eight, then Carlos because Jay wanted to protect him (because he might have had a crush,) then Evie because she befriended Carlos and Mal thought she was cute (Mal *never* put her hands on Evie in this. She *did not* hurt Evie or try to.) Their original name was the Rotten to the Core Four, but it is also called the Dragons just to save time. Most of what they do is mischief and keeping the Villains in check, using Mal's reputation to intimidate them and to save those they might be hurting. She also keeps her mother's soldiers from brutalizing children, which is very much appreciated.
-
The Forgotten Children (10) - Maddy Mim (leader) - Gaston II - Gaston III - Clay Clayton - Zevon - Lydia Snoops - Hans II (Constantine)
The Forgotten Children was started by the first generation, namely Ginny and Anthony, and they were called that because they were children of the good guys (well, one out of two, in Anthony's case,) but had been forgotten by their people. They were actually a very good, helpful gang, until Mad Maddy came in, drove Ginny out, and overthrew Anthony. He stayed for a while, tried to keep the gang going for the same goal, but she wasn't having it. Now that gang is focused on making the "goodies" of the Isle (the gangs trying to help people without caring about personal benefit) suffer. They're villains, they're evil, stop trying to pretend they aren't.
-
Diego's Devils (39) - Diego de Vil (leader) - Jade - Yzla - Freddie Facilier - Celia Facilier - Reza Bing - Hermie Bing - Claudine Frollo - LeFou Deux - Rick Ratcliffe - Veronica de Vil - Tara D'Arque - Anna Westergaard - Riah Darhk - Hadie Olympian - Jace Badun - Harry Badun
Diego's Devils was founded on the belief that no child should have to do what Diego had to do. Originally it was a much more covert gang, much more vigilante justice and temporary shelter, but Diego eventually broadened it and came more out of the dark. The Devils are still pretty much a halfway point between Uma's crew and Harriet's, but they do some distribution and more permanent shelter
-
Uma's Pirate Crew (34) - Uma (Leader) - Harry Hook - Gil Facilier - Desiree Aladdin - Jonas Never - Bonny Sid - Gonzo Pan - Big Murph - Rose of Hearts - Ace of Hearts - Mischa, Polina, Kira, and Pasha Rasputin - Squeaky, Squirmy, and Sammy Smee - Belle and Narcissa LeGume - Madrigal, Morwenna, and Morpheus Mim
Uma, being a childhood friend of Harry and trying to avoid home, spent a lot of time around Harriet. She saw the stress Harriet was going through and decided to help, so she got The Lost Revenge from Captain Hook and started another, albeit smaller and younger, gang to do what Harriet does. She doesn't do as much, only what Harriet can't take (Harriet is trying to keep as much of it off Uma's shoulders as possible because Uma is so young,) but she's a major force of good and also very popular with the magic population of the Isle, as Harriet didn't inherit mermaid magic like her brother and sister.
-
Harriet Hook's Pirate Crew (48) - Harriet Hook (Leader) - Anthony Tremaine - CJ Hook - Giles and Gordon LeGume - Agony and Chaos - Arika Sykes - Dizzy Tremaine - Calypso - Scout - Ivy de Vil - Mallory, Malvolia, Mara, Malcolm, and Mage Mim
Harriet's Pirate Crew was started because she knew from a young age that not everyone- if fact, barely anyone- on the Isle had a mom and dad as good as hers. She saw that other kids were suffering and she wanted to help, so she fixed up one of the ships of Shipwreck Cove and, with Calypso as her original first mate, started trying to ease the suffering on the Isle. She distributes goods, offers temporary or permanent shelter, breaks up human trafficking, helps abused kids, helps the hospital, etc. But it was a lot even if she'd been an adult. That's where Uma came in.
-
Maverick Mim's Mutants (4) - Maverick Mim (leader) - Giles LeGume - Tarzan D'Arque - Nikita Rasputin
Less of a gang and more of a network, Maverick Mim connects the magic users of the Isle to have each other's backs. The actual gang is only four people- Maverick herself, Nikita Rasputin, Giles LeGume, and Tarzan D'arque. The others are just part for protection. On an island with far too many witch-hunters and monster-killers, the magical population needs someone to have their backs. Maverick Mim makes sure everyone does.
-
The Witches (39) - Mordred Mim (leader) - Morwenna, Mace, Mystica, Morrigan, Morticia, Malachi, Mabuz, Mignight, Malacoda, Mora, Michael, and Maddox Mim
Madam Mim is evil. Madam Mim is evil and, if she has her way, she's going to have all of her descendants under her thumb. Mordred, the second oldest of them, didn't like her owning so many extremely powerful magick users so, when Michael was born and had the power to free them, the two did. Michael freed all of them from Mim's ownership and they created The Witches, something Madam Mim hates being called, to watch out for each other and anyone else Mim might own. Mordred protects Riah, Maverick, Mara, Lydia, and Constantine, and he backs Uma, Diego, and Harriet for having his cousins in their crews. They're mostly dedicated to keeping Mim in check, but if someone hurts one of their own... It's family first and family last and family by and by.
-
Exiled Gods (8) - Justice Olympian (Leader) - Hatitosa Lokidottir - Mercy Olympian - Dawn Olympian - Mavis Mim
The Exiled Gods was actually started by two Villains, Circe and Medusa. They were the ones who opened communication with the Losties and opened up Exile for the truly desperate. That's why the name is Exiled Gods, because that's who it originally was. But the second generation grew older and Justice eventually took over when she was fifteen. There isn't much for them to worry about on Exile, not with the Medusa and Circe always ready to take over what the other gangs do, so Justice mainly operates the gang as keeping up relations with the Losties and trying to ensure the wellbeing of everyone on Exile.
-
Silver Cross - Ginny Gothel (leader) - Mordred Mim - Kira Rasputin - Yzla Frollo - Evie - Jade - Lydia Snoops (sometimes) - Shan Sarangerel - Jonas Never - Tara D'Arque - Mildred Mim
-
Arrangements Sanctum Agreement- Ginny Gothel, Uma's Pirate Crew, Rotten to the Core Four, Diego's Devils, Harriet Hook's Pirate Crew - Started by Shan Yu as the first generation was being born. When Sanctum is called, rivalries, gangs, territories, past issues, whatever, it means nothing. When someone calls Sanctum, they are to be given help no matter what. This is kept in place by a kind of golden rule- if we don't do this for them now, they won't do it for us when we need it. AT least that's what Auradon thinks.
Silver Cross- Ginny Gothel and all groups - When Ginny Gothel was little, out of both a desire to help rather than harm and the deep belief that everyone deserved medical care, she read about the Red Cross, doctors who treated battlefield injuries no matter their sides, and decided to replicate it. Wearing a silver X on her chest, a silver Cross, Ginny learned everything she could and became the fastest source of medical care on the Isle. The Silver Cross has grown in size and in recognition. Most people on the Isle have been helped, in some way, by Ginny and her teachings. You don't attack members of the Silver Cross.
13 Rule- Ginny Gothel, Exiled Gods, Harriet Hook's Pirate Crew, Uma's Pirate Crew, Rotten to the Core Four, Diego's Devils - This rule dictates that no gang should put a member of the crew younger than thirteen years of age onto the field unless they want to be. This was started by The Forgotten Children, back when Ginny and Anthony ran it, and spread as a kind of common sense rule when they weren't. Most gangs won't put someone younger than thirteen on the field even if they do ask.
Allies Diego's Devils and Uma's Pirate Crew Diego's Devils and Mal's Dragons Diego's Devils and Harriet's Pirate Crew Diego's Devils and Uma's Pirate Crew Shan Yu's Army and Sanctum Agreement Uma's Pirate Crew and Exiled Gods Uma's Pirate Crew and Harriet's Pirate Crew Uma's Pirate Crew and The Witches Maverick's Mutants and The Witches Maverick's Mutants and Diego's Devils Maverick's Mutants and Harriet's Pirate Crew Maverick's Mutants and Uma's Pirate Crew Lydia Snoops and Sanctum The Forgotten Children and Harriet Hook's Pirate Crew

I got two likes on this post so I'm sharing.
I feel like it'd go like this:
OVs who run their own part of the Isle
Other OVs
Leaders of the more powerful gangs
VKs who are set to inherit parts of the Isle and the closest circle of the more powerful gangs's leaders
Main henchmen of OVs and less powerful gang leaders
Everyone else
"What do you mean by OVs who run their own parts of the Isle?" I'm glad you asked! I was thinking about how Auradon is run (a bunch of kingdoms joined together and run separately while all also following the rule of a Higher Ruler) and started to wonder how that same system could be applied to the Isle of the Lost and how it would be different if it was. I came to the conclusion that, despite there being certain villains that everyone fears and/or respects more than others, there wouldn't be a Higher Ruler*. Instead, the Isle is split up into different Districts or Sectors, each of which is run by different villains.
This is my first draft of the idea. Yen Sid and The Horned King don't technically have control over any parts of the Isle, they're just highly protected of the area immediately surrounding their homes, but I counted them anyway.
The reason why the Isle of the Doomed is complicated is because the land itself is controlled by Hades but the buildings on it are run by Facilier.
Most villains do have control over their own buildings, e.g. Frollo laying claim to all of the Churches on the Isle and Gaston laying claim to a handful of bars, but they're not as powerful as those that run their own districts.
Additionally, Ruling OVs have territory in Districts that aren't their's. For example, Facilier is under Hades's protection, so his shop is considered his territory even with it's located in Lady Tremaine's.
Neutral ground is the Pirate's Bay since that's where Auradon's ships of trash usually land and all of the schools.
Black Ice District - Snow Queen
Maleficent's District ('Maleficent's) - Maleficent
Forest of Misery ('The Miserables') - Evil Queen
The Deck - Queen of Hearts
Sour Sugar Sector ('The S.S.S.'/'Triple S') - King Candy/Turbo
The Southern Isle - Prince Hans
??? - Lady Tremaine
??? - Prince John
??? - Yzma
A small social circle of Ruling OVs and their kids (and grandkids in Lady Tremaine's case) form as a result.
Oh and here's how I think Scar and Hades split the catacombs:
And then there's the gangs on the Isle. Most people on the Isle know of six, even though they really only bother to care about two.
Once again, this is the first draft of the concept.
The Rotten - Core Four's gang (canon)
The Renegades - Sea Three's gang (canon)
The Nightshades - Mad Maddy's gang (canon)
The Red Spades - Ace of Diamond's gang (non-canon)
The Wharf Rats - Jason & Harold Badun's gang (non-canon)
The Land Sharks - Son of Monstro's gang (non-canon)
The gangs run things on the Isle on a more personal level. Some have allied themselves with certain District owners, and it is at this point in writing the post that I realize I should probably mention that I've never read or watched the Hunger Games, most notably the Renegades with the Black Ice District and the Rottens with Maleficent's District and The Miserables. It's a mutually beneficial relationship in that gangs aren't required to abide by the interpersonal relationships between the Ruling OVs so the rulers they ally with can get more done through them and the gangs get more power and influence over people as well as more security over their territory. However, it puts the gangs at direct mercy of the Ruling OV in question rather than at indirect mercy, which can be a bit of a struggle for the gang leader(s).
*I can see certain people on the Isle deciding to stay on the Isle post-D3 because it's become their home, including some Ruling OVs, and I think at that point it starts to function closer to how Auradon functions since Uma takes up the role of figuring out how to get what everyone wants done. She gets more and more kids out, she partners with Ben to make an OV rehabilitation course, and when people who hold a lot of power on the Isle leave, she gets involved to make sure what they left in their wake is redistributed and overtaken before any problems can break out because of it. She becomes the unofficial Queen of the Isle for a long time before the Ruling OVs that chose to stay on the Isle grant her the title officially.
(Also, the Ruling OVs that chose to stay get their titles [back] once Uma starts making efforts to get the Isle recognized as its own kingdom state because I can do what I want.)
Tl;dr: Some villains split up parts of the Isle as though they're mini-kingdoms which take care of the Isle on a broader level while the main gangs really care of the Isle on a smaller, personal level. This highly affects the Isle's social hierarchy system.
Creating your own fanon what you can't entirely tell whether it's "fuck canon," "adding to canon," or "I'm completely making up my own canon" is actually so important

Wether it's playing AC Black Flag and Sid Meyer's Pirates, or listening to Colm R. McGuinness' music, or watching Pirates of the Caribbean and recently Our Flag Means Death - it would seem I am obsessed with pirate media!~
So it's only fitting I made some pirate oc's! To start, here’s the ship’s captain! I imagine he’s a spirited jokester, who takes the lead in singing the shanties that keep the crew working!
I might’ve went a lil’ overboard on his oversized jacket, but the captain has to stand out a little ehehehe
Hope you enjoy!

Writeblr Intro!
hello! i’m Ronon (he/him), i’m pretty new to writeblr so i thought i’d make a little intro for myself and my WIPs. i’m really looking forward to getting to know you all and learning about your writing!
ABOUT ME
21 years old
uni student in the uk
bisexual & genderqueer
favourite genres to read & write include sci-fi, fantasy, and books with queer rep
MY WIPs
these are the WIPs i’m currently working on, but i constantly have new ideas. this page (currently a work in progress itself) is a kind of masterpost of every WIP i’m willing to talk about & will be updated semi-regularly
1. Return to Avalon - intro post - sci-fi, queer & poc main characters. Arthur- Captain of the Excalibur- must chase down the hired guns that attacked her planet, find the power behind the attack, and retrieve the tech stolen during the battle, all while trying to find a way to bring her best friend home. Meanwhile, unsure who survived the Mars attack and stranded in a time before real technology, Merlin must scavenge parts in hopes of returning to his home.
2. The Civil War of the Sea - urban fantasy, modern time period, queer & poc main characters. I’m currently re-plotting this so there’s no summary as of yet. However, the 3 main characters are Peter (Human, white, he/him, bi transman), Sid (Goblin Warlock, he/they/xe, pansexual, genderqueer), and Medea (Human Witch, black, she/they, ace lesbian).
3. The Unsettled Sea - urban fantasy, golden age of pirating era, queer & poc main characters. Set in the same universe as the above, but hundreds of years before. The plot has yet to be nailed down but this book follows the adventures of Captain Mordud (Valkyrie, she/her, aroace) and her pirate crew.
4. Boys Will Be Boys - friendship, romance, coming of age, 1940s to 1950s, queer main characters. Set in an English boarding school towards the end of WW2, this story follows a group of teenage boys (and their families) as they try to make the most of their final years at school, featuring shenanigans and secret gay love.
