[Wings of Fire] Trans Headcanons

Hello! Something different today. I missed trans day of visibility yesterday due to being away at a conference but I wanted to still make a post with some trans headcanons for Wings of Fire characters since I have lots of them.

These are just my own headcanons and some are different than other people's so please don't get super defensive over these, they're just fun for me to make and everyone can believe what they want to believe.

And yes, it is a lot of characters. A while ago I decided that I would headcanon every WoF character to be LGBTQ+ in some compacity and recently I went back and gave many more of them trans headcanons. I'll save the romantic/sexual orientation for another day, these will just be transgender headcanons.

Piranha and Tempest! Council members of war and I love them both Base by Peregrinecella on DA, designs ftu with credit to @outsmartingbasilisk or CleverBasilisk on DA Design Notes: -Both of their colorful gill and face markings are war tattoos/paint! They’re traditionally put on gill edges to make them stand out when flaring gills and under the eye where natural markings sometimes are for more effect -Piranha got hers specifically to match Tempest after she died -True to the books Piranha has the scars of a dragon well acquainted with war -Tempest doesn’t have many scars because shes a giant dragon who will fucking destroy you before you get close enough to harm her, though looking back I’d give her a few more nicks

So anybody remember those pen drawings I did of various WOF characters? I decided I want to go back and clean them up and add colors! It was a lot of fun to ink and color these guys, I tried to get the colors as accurate to the book descriptions of them as I could. However some characters didn't have eye color described so I had to guess I tweaked some of my designs from the first take- http://diverteddreamstudios.tumblr.com/post/159321684923/so-i-am-finishing-reading-book-2-again-and-i Queen Coral is basically just a typical Seawing and looks the most like Joy Ang's illustration. I'm going to have all the Queens I draw follow that pattern, I think. It gives me a sort of 'base' to deviate from. I can look at Coral and say, ok typical Seawings look like this, and then make small alterations on the snouts or horns to make each character look unique. Tsunami isn't described as having a torn ear but come on, she fights so much she has to have some kind of scars or something King Gill's colors are described as 'sea green'. I hate how the graphic novel made him this gross dull green color but meh, maybe it's because he was dehydrated? Anyways, this is how I imagined he would look when healthy. For Webs I had his horns lay very flat and not really have any curve to them. I was inspired by how my German Shepherd looks when he puts his ears down. I thought that sort of look would be good for a cowardly character. Riptide looks kind of like his dad, but shorter horns as he is younger, and his snout isn't as rounded as Webs's is. Nautilus's design is where I started varying how the glowing scales looked. It says in the book Seawings can have different glowing scales, so I changed the shapes of them for some characters. I dunno, little triangles looked cool for him. Also the spiral design looks sweet in color I think! Whirlpool....oh boy this guy. So a lot of people draw him as being all handsome and charming, but in the books he was described as having 'blobby, frog-like eyes' and being a general gross weirdo. So I tried to have that come across in my design for him. I also made his chin and fins look a bit similar to Gill, as Queen Coral said the two looked kind of alike. Shark's design is still my fav for sure~ It's cool seeing him in color. The book says he is a dull green that is almost grey, I like the color I picked for him. Also I made his fins curved and pointy like a shark's. And finally Piranha, a character who only appears a few times, but she sounded so cool. She's supposed to be a dark greyish blue with lots of scars and a missing horn. I also gave her crooked teeth and diamond shaped glow scales, cause they added to the pointy, ragged look she has. Also, small design headcanon: female Seawing's chin danglies curve backward, and males curve forward Hope everyone likes these! while farming Ichor on my crimson world, a Crimson Key dropped. I was very shocked and quite pleased, but also a little annoyed because I hadn’t beaten any post-WOF bosses, as this was a world I made exclusively for farming, so if I wanted to use the key I would need to fight all the mechanical bosses AND Plantera.

Which I did, but not before also getting a Jungle and a Desert key. Nice! Although I’m not too enthused by the piranha gun.

...the Desert Key is a bit of a problem, since all the worlds I’ve generated since 1.4 are Journey Mode. Meaning, none of the worlds I can go to with this key have a desert chest.

I’m going to need to make a brand new world, fight skeletron, fight the Wall of Flesh, fight all three mechanical bosses, then find a plantera bulb and fight Plantera too.
