“What are ye doin’ in here?” Scrooge asked as he passed by the room and saw the girl within. The halls of the manor were silent, as they always seemed to be when the boys weren’t going crazy and Webby was off doing whatever she did best, and as such it meant that the old duck was out and about. He always had an ability to quiet things around him, he always was surrounded by a bout of mystery and silence, people could hardly see beyond the shroud that surrounded him and as such they found that he was difficult to understand. He always seemed so elusive, as if the true him was the rarest sight imaginable, that nobody would ever see it for he locked it away, and so he was a walking secret.

“Aye, you’re Webbigail’s new friend. What are ye doin’ in here?” There was nothing of importance in this room, just a bunch of old books, his library hardly had anything all too special. It was a place filled with information and whatnot, a place filled with stories and tales, research and stories, things that few people found interest in. Louie liked to read a few of the novels in here, Huey enjoyed the factual books with information such as his field journals, and Dewey always loved reading his notebooks filled with stories of adventures-- other than that there wasn’t much in here that people enjoyed. They were mostly here because Scrooge liked having them and couldn’t bare with the idea of tossing them.

“Are ye an’ avid reader?” He asked her, his soft eyes scanning the room before him, the decorum was old, ancient, and covered in dust-- the books would be too had it not been for the ducklings that found occasional solace in this room. It was interesting, really, how Scrooge had multiple libraries-- his most important one was the Archives in the money bin, but this one had quite a bit of information itself. As he pulled out one of the books at random, he let his suspicions begin to bloom in his skull. He didn’t know this girl and was rather worried about her, about her presence here. She was a troublemaker, that much was obvious, but there was something more... There was something amiss with her that he wasn’t quite sure of.

The gentle sound of the wind’s howls outside drew him back to the world of the living and he let his eyes set upon her again, he scanned her, eyes running over every detail and registering it in his head. He took notice of the chain around her neck, although he couldn’t see what lie at the end, he could feel something there. Something was definitely wrong with her, what it was he wasn’t sure. Something was all too familiar and all too strange.
