YUZU BETTER WIN especially in the beginning she was more of the main character than yuya honestly. the entire plot of arc v HINGES on her and if she wasn't there than arc v would be a completely different series. yuzu also has such a good character design and motif and this may be petty but her color scheme is just better than yuna sorry not sorry i'm right. she may not be the best WRITTEN yugioh girl but she is by far the best DESIGNED and that has to count for something. i love yuzu she's wonderful she's cute and girly while being able to hold her own as she should!!!!! yuzu is incredibly based and wonderful and deserves the world she is wonderful.
BEST YGO GIRL: Round 3, Group B
Match 1
please use this as an opportunity to say why you like a character, not why you don't.
Propaganda under the cut!
Yuzu Hiragi
The entire show would not work if the cast wasn't obsessed with her, and they're all right to stan her, literally gets Sora and Serena to defect from Academia with her sheer charisma, beat Masumi at their gay little rivalry, Yugo spends a few days with her and is ready to die for her, Yuya is simply just the loudest about adoring her And why not? She is so clever and determined, doing the most work out of anyone to figure out the myth plot. Actively trains to keep up with the rest of cast. Even when the universe is conspiring against her and trying to keep her down, she fucking headbutts Roger and tells him off or manifests to help save the world in the ultimate girlboss team-up that was the Arc V finale. Truly any dimension without her is worth upending. - The mysterious magical bracelet that isekai's her to different worlds, the Can-Do attitude, the cool poses (fusion summoning), the ADORABLE character design, AND she was 1/4 of a world-saving hero in the past?? If it weren't for the meddling writers, she would have been the main character - yuzu is everything. literally the plot of arc v hinges on the fact everyone who meets her become just as obsessed with her. and they are totally right to do so
Yuna Goha
Yuna is great. She's an absolute bully whenever she's in conflict with the other characters (so sorry to Sky), which honestly? fun. Amazing energy. and then she has gay energy with Rovian and Asaka. Yuna has a surprisingly dynamic character arc, going from just following Rovian around in between bullying people, to taking on the task of inventing a new card (which is very hard work in this universe), and maturing to being one of the town's leaders. She's clearly someone in the process of learning who she is and I've really enjoyed seeing her get to go on that journey. SHE HAS A BASICALLY CANON GIRLFRIEND PLEASE I AM BEGGING BECAUSE ROVIAN GOT ELIMINATED ALREADY
#best ygo girl poll#yugioh go rush#yuna goha#yuzu hiiragi#zuzu boyle#yugioh arc v#VOTE YUZU#PLEASE VOTE YUZU#propaganda#yuzu has so much going for her#every girl who meets her becomes gay for her she is a shoujo dating sim protagonist#she deserves everything Good.#she better win#i love yuzu she deserves to win#i mean look at her#pink and girly and cute but still able to hold her own its great

The Secret’s Out!
Valentine’s Exchange Gift For Nicole💘💘💘 ( @vixenpen ) 💘💘💘 love u!
Exchange Organized by The Lovely @ayocee !!! ❣️
Prompt: Hawks Valentine’s date that ends in smut
Warnings: 18+, sexual content, fluff + smut
A/N: This is my first time writing for BNHA!!! So cool - It was fun, hope it’s sufficient:)
Song: Unthinkable by Alicia Keys
The chilled red wine cooled your warm tongue as you emptied the remains of your glass.
Licking your now red-stained lips, to get rid of the fogginess you blinked at the laptop screen in front of you.
“Baby,” you called as you poured yourself a third glass. “Can you show me the sunset again?”
Displayed on your cute laptop screen is a FaceTime call—one that you certainly could have answered on your iPhone but you needed the visual to be as big as possible tonight.
When your question reached the other side of the call, the screen that once showed you in real-time: the intensity of the Pacific ocean in spring from a birds-eye view, tilted like a rollercoaster. Then, your eyes were met with the awe-inspiring visual that is the Pacific sunset from the point of view in the centre of the ocean. It’s shot from a perfect perspective: a perspective too low for a plane to capture, yet too high for a boat to capture. It is a perspective only attainable by a certain pro hero of yours…
“Wow...” your lips moved autonomously, even before you had time to register the thought— but as are the effects of your favourite bottle of red.
Your eyes bore into the gorgeous planes of the orange and pink horizon. You unknowingly let your cheek rest on your closed fist, soaking in the rarity of this wonder. Admiring it.
“You like it, beautiful?” Called a loving voice, taking you out of your trance for a second.
“Of course.” You answered.
“I—“
“Please. Don’t give me that cheesy ‘it’s not as beautiful as you’ line that’s it’s in every lame movie,”
The soft joyous chuckle of your boyfriend’s laugh reverberated through the speakers, travelling right from his lips to your heart: effectively warming it in its entirety.
“I was actually going to say to say that I wish I could bring your tipsy ass up here.” He chuckled again. “This mission would sure be a lot more fun if your legs were wrapped around me. You know: pretending to drop you so you’d hold on tighter.... your ass in my hands...”
“Hm,” you smirked, glad that your new boyfriend didn’t plan on giving you one of the cheesy lines most guys did. “I agree.”
“Yeah?” Your boyfriend inquired, voice rising with interest. “You really are getting tipsy, aren’t you? Usually you’d kill me for even saying that,”
“Well...Under these circumstances.. maybe I wanna be nice tonight....” you weren’t aware of the sexual innuendo entering your tone when you said that either.
But your boyfriend, however-- picked up on it right away.
He bit his lip bottom. “...how nice?”
“Hmmm… Nice enough to balance out the awfulness that is: my boyfriend having to leave me in the middle of our first Valentine’s Day date?”
Hawks sighed. “Mmmmm I know. I know, baby, and I’m sorry….”
You frowned. “Why are you apologizing? It was incredible while it lasted and we were able to get through most of it without interruption, so I have to be thankful for that knowing your job. Plus, It’s not like it’s your fault—“
“But I’m apologizing anyway. I wanted to finish the date and be there with you... I wanted to see your face when you saw how I decorated my apartment for you,”
Your eyes left the passing sunset so that you could take in the over-the-top but romantic-as-all-hell way in which your man decorated his apartment for you for Valentine’s Day.
From where you laid atop the blankets on his King sized bed, you could see the shiny balloons everywhere; some on the floor moving around because the window is open and the air is blowing them slightly. You could also see the dozens of candle flames fluttering with the wind and making the room smell heavenly--you could also see the real rose petals everywhere, even underneath you on the bed, as well as the silver and red streamers on the ceilings that could not easily be reached by anyone but your Hawks. You smiled to yourself at the thought of your cooler-than-thou boyfriend sprinkling girly rose petals everywhere as your boyfriend continued speaking.
“--It’s annoying because this mission is not even anything big, either. Just scouting for Selkie while his crew is out. It’s shitty new Hero work, to be honest, but the kids are in final exams right now I guess. Either way, I’d much rather be finishing the amazing date I had planned with you. I mean at least I got to take you to that yakiniku spot, but—“
“—That food was amazing, though,”
Keigo returned your interruption—though his voice dropped, speaking slowly. “—Your dress was amazing.” 🤤 he let out a sexily breathy chuckle, not missing a beat.
Clearly, it had been something on his mind judging by how quickly that response came out.
This time, when you heard your boyfriend’s sensually connotation chuckle; warmed more than just your heart.
Acting on impulse, and maybe a little bit on alcohol, too, your hand not holding the wine glass fiddled with the end of the short but very expensive-looking dress you wore. It is a form fitting maxi and, yes, it is red.
You made sure to pick a red that perfectly matched the colour of your Pro hero’s wings. Ironically enough, it matched the colour of the wine you’ve been drinking tonight too.
Needless to say, you ruffled Hawk’s feathers in the best way when he picked you up earlier tonight. He was practically salivating and if he didn’t have reservations you two would have never made it out the house tonight. You made him behave himself until after dinner even though you wanted to pounce on him all the same. The look of your man in a tux, God damn. The wait always made it better, though.
So you two did wait. And that ‘later’ that you two unspokenly promised each other over heated glances at dinner is…. now.
However, this “now” had been tortuously ripped away from you both when your man got a Hero call just as he was simultaneously fumbling with his house keys and undoing his belt. You avoided pouting or crying about his departure by indulging in your favourite wine that your boyfriend had bought, the one chilling near the bed just for you two.
“You liked it?” You asked about your dress, your voice matching the sensual aspect of Tamaki’s.
Your man groaned through the speakers. “Your legs........your ass......” is all he answered before he fantasized over there,
You watched the screen as Hawk’s right-wing that was visible in the FaceTime: straightened. “God, babe...If I wasn’t on this mission...”
“—If you weren’t on this mission, what?” You inquired coyly, unaware of the fact that the hand of yours that was playing with the dress’s hem had now begun brushing your thigh, tingling your skin lightly. The tingling was only intensified by the breezy air that flowed through the opened windows in Hawk’s apartment. It was complemented only by the sound of the breeze that took up the speaker because the #2 hero was calmly soaring through the air.
“If....” Keigo continued, “If I wasn’t on this mission staring at this fucking ocean.... then I’d....”
Your fingers pushed your skirt up—just barely.
“You’d...?”
“I’d be staring at another ocean, one I like much more--tongue-fucking you so deeply you’d be pooling around me, babe. Just the way I like you to.”
Your breath hitched when those travelling fingers on yours pressed against the outside of your g-string: prodding lightly against the fabric that covered the ocean your man was talking about.
Upon hearing your breath hitch, the FaceTime video camera scrambled upward, your gorgeous boyfriend coming into view as he soared through the sky. Behind those transparent yellow goggles, his eyes were wide. Not because he was surprised, oh no, on the contrary: your boyfriend knew just how much you wanted him to make you scream tonight based on the way you looked at him over dinner...that wasn’t it.
His eyes widened more out of jealousy: recognizing the sound of your impending orgasm—even if very far—as accurately as he can recognize danger on a Hero mission. “Aw, you gonna play without me, baby?” He sounded smug, not sad.
“Call it getting a head start...” You answered quickly, knowing that your boyfriend’s mission shouldn’t last longer than a few hours. That just meant you’d be able to take a nap in between that would hopefully give you enough energy to keep up with your insatiable, sex-God of a man when he gets home.
“Okay, beautiful. Then start.” He answered coolly—sexily.
Your entire body responded in the feeling of increased sensitivity, irrevocably turned on by your boyfriend’s demands.
And he knew that.
You stretched so that you could set your wine glass on the bedside table, giving your man a great view of your ass in that red dress.
The same red dress that’s been living in his horny thoughts rent-free for the past two hours.
He groaned. “Do that again and I’m losing my job today,”
You smiled prettily as you returned to the laptop camera, getting comfortable by suckling on your middle & pointer finger gently.
“Shit, Y/N...I love when you’re eager baby,”
You nodded, staring at your boyfriend through the screen as he flew through the sky. You did this as you awaited instruction patiently. As always.
Hawks, who had originally been using his back camera-only in order to avoid getting distracting from enemy-watch, tried to remind himself why he did that as he struggled to keep hold of his phone.
On his end, the sight of you looking so needy and sucking on your own fingers so that they were wet when you plunged them into the heat that—just the thought makes him drool—proved too much for him.
And you haven’t even started yet.
His dick hardened just from looking at you.
“No, Hawks. Can’t.” Hawks mumbled to himself, obviously putting his phone back down and switching the camera so it wasn’t facing him again. You were met with the pretty water once encore, the waves now sparkling due to the warm sunset reflecting off of them.
“I can’t watch, love.” Hawks stated, disappointment evident in his tone. “But don’t stop. Close your eyes and lay on your back.”
Fingers still in your mouth, you listened.
“Spread those legs, baby.”
You listened.
“Hike up that dress but don’t.take.it.off. That job’s for me. You hear me?”
You nodded, even though neither of you could see each other.
Hawks, being the good hero that he is, used all of his mental strength not to peek. He had to complete this mission.
You always listened anyway.
As always.
“Pull down the straps of your dress--just the straps. So that your tits are out. Are you wearing a bra?”
You were going to move your finger to answer before your man did it for you,
“Fuck, no you’re not...” he said in a strained voice. He recalled how your perky nipples pressed against the sinful dress’s red fabric in the car because you were cold. This was before Hawks had given you his jacket that you wore the rest of the night. “God imma lose this job....” Keigo muttered to himself, shaking his head.
“Mm,” you answered around your own fingers.
“Make small circles around inner thighs, baby. Right around the prize. Use the hand that isn’t currently filling-in for my cock.”
You moaned, doing just as he says with the visual of your man’s perfect dick replacing your fingers in your mind right now. You felt your pussy throb.
Hawks inwardly cursed his job when he heard you moan, pleased with himself but subconsciously deliberating just how much shit he’d get in if he left this mission post right now...
After a few minutes, when Hawks heard your breath pick up, triggering him to get harder, he licked his dry lips and said,
“Mm, now move your thong to the side. Slide those fingers up and down your lips baby, the same way I do with my tongue. You know how.”
“Mmff,” you moaned, eyes still closed and still licking around your own fingers. You pretended you were cockwarming the #2 hero’s heavenly length.
“Good, baby. Now switch hands.”
You listened immediately—using the soaked fingers in your mouth to glide up and down your soaking pussy lips. They slid even easier than your other hand did and since—in your head—those fingers were stepping in as your man’s dick, it somehow felt even more pleasurable than your other hand.
You moaned, arching your back slightly. “O-oh,”
Against his better judgement, Keigo was unable to stop himself from looking down at his phone when you moaned like that, immediately dropping the device when the sight of you running your hand between your pussy lips with that sexy dress bunched at the waist came into vision.
“Fuck,” Hawks cursed, flying down quickly to grab his phone just before it hit the water.
He checked to make sure that him dropping it hadn’t disturbed you, and then he let out a sigh of relief when he realized he hadn’t. You were still doing as he said with your eyes closed, and obviously having a good time doing it too.
Unable to fight his desire anymore, Tamaki’s eyes darted around, scanning the horizon and the ocean for anyone within a 100-mile radius.
When he deemed the coast, quite literally—clear—he held his phone with one hand and stuffed his hand inside his pants, grabbing his overexcited dick.
“Insert one finger baby. You pick.” Keigo directed--his own finger encircling the tip of his dick. He resisted a groan that begged to be released.
“Good. Now, insert the other. No, nice and slow baby. Niceeee…. and slow,”
You did--and he copied your movements, a sense of pride washing over him that he had such a beautiful, absolutely stunning lover.
***
You listened to your man for the next ten or so minutes... trying your best to hold off your orgasm as your stomach coiled in the best way. The combination of your fingers; the sound of your man’s deep voice giving demands; the thought of his dick inside you instead; and the way that the wind entering his apartment via the open windows contrasted the heat of your wet vagina; wow…. all of it just felt too incredible.
“I’m close, baby...” you whispered hastily. “Can I touch my—“
Just as you were about to ask if you could pinch your nipples in order to throw yourself over the edge, you were erotically surprised by someone--or should you say someTHING --doing it for you.
Your eyes shot open, and then your back arched, even more, when you realized that the thing that touched you is nothing more than a red feather.
It encircled your nipple pleasurably, another coming from the window and encircled the other nipple.
Your toes curled. The feathers were the same colour as your dress.
“Ahh, Keigo!” You moaned, not even waiting for permission before you sped up the pace of your fingers. Your eyes squeezed shut on their own fruition.
There was a smirk in your boyfriend’s voice. “I assume they’re there, baby?”
“Ngh.....” you sped up the pace even more, your short fingers just barely hitting your g-spot; the g-spot that your man’s dick can always reach. You whimpered.
The feathers around your nipples whirled around your body whimsically, filling in for what your fingers were just short of in other ways:
travelling down the line that centres your breast...
tracing your neckline...
moving down to encircle your ankles...
“Oh my God, H-Hawks, yes-s, ah....!”
The soft-touch of the material’s feathers felt so good. No, they weren’t Hawks’ strong hands, and the two small entities just ghosted over your skin... barely locatable, but it is the fact that they were red and they were your MAN’s —your man who is physically cities away right now—that made this indescribably amazing for you.
He is cities away: yet he is here. This is him.
“Hawks…” you sighed, getting closer and closer,
“Y/N....” Hawks sighed back roughly: deeply.
Not that you could see but his eyes were half-lidded as he watched you get off. Seeing you be assaulted by the feathers he sent drove him absolutely mad. This had to be the sexiest things he’s ever seen from afar.
“I love you, Y/N.” Your man said softly, biting his lip and forgetting his demands because right now he needed to cum. The sight of you like this was too much to bear. Hawk’s picked up the pace of his own hand on his cock.
When the feathers returned to your nipples from your belly button, you let out a wanton scream moan, your white-hot orgasm ripping through your body as violently as the Pacific waves that were crashing underneath your boyfriend right now.
Hawks’ orgasm followed soon after, your name falling from his lips as he just-barely pulled his pants down in time so that he released in the ocean instead of in his suit pants.
You both calmed your breathing as you came back down to earth. The feathers fell next to you as if they were sleeping peacefully.
After a few moments passed and you found the strength to open your eyes, rolling over to look at your Hero. He matched your semi-satiated expression so you could guess that he had found sweet release as well just now.
Keigo knew you well enough to know that you needed a nap at this time, just as you usually did post-orgasm. Therefore, he wasn’t surprised whatsoever when you whispered in parting:
“Happy Valentine’s Day, baby. Be home soon so we can do...this... in person.”
“Of course.” Hawks answered. Then, he couldn’t resist adding a cheeky pun.
🕊
“I’ll fly there if I have to.”

my beloved @fancykraken tagged me! 💖
1. Why did you choose your url?
so, i've technically had six urls through my tumblr history, but the most consistent and important one sits in quiet mausoleum-like reverence because i was only going to be here temporarily (lol), and didn't want to reclaim it, and didn't feel right going back to that blog. alas, here we are. (and now there's an added weight to it because we exist in a world without stephen sondheim.)
when i secretly made this blog in early 2020, i was on a Romantics kick and had borrowed "melodious" from Keats in Ode to a Nightingale (thou, light-winged Dryad of the trees/In some melodious plot/Of beechen green, and shadows numberless/Singest of summer in full-throated ease) because i wanted something music-themed, and "ghost" obviously from my constant theme of being a ghost girl who is herself a haunted house, but it never felt "right," and for some reason i didn't like the way ~melodious~ looked the longer i sat with it, so i switched it to "septembers," because almost all of my urls have begun with an -S, and because it's my birth month, and tied subtly to dean (my birthday being pilot anniversary day on the 13th, then the significance of september 18th). i am quite attached to september in general outside of that, and thus septembersghost felt very much like an accurate depiction of me.
2. Any side blogs?
not here, no, though i have a couple of urls saved despite the fact that i'd never use them.
3. How long have you been on tumblr?
off and on since 2011.
4. Do you have a queue tag?
the very boring "q," i used to always have cute personalized ones (almost all were musical theatre lyric-based) but was too lazy to do that here asdsajkfdh
5. Why did you start your blog in the first place?
i started my original blog literally because of bonnie, whomst did tag me in this post, and because so many people from LJ were migrating here (hilariously, i also started my LJ in 2004 because of bonnie...alexa, play "every breath you take." BLAME HER FOR MY INTERNET PRESENCE! 😂). this one i started in 2020 "just in case"/to lurk (interestingly, for taylor and penny dreadful and better call saul, not at all for spn), but then 15x18 happened and i had...a bit of a hard time...and realized i couldn't handle enduring the last two episodes of that alone after suffering and engaging for fifteen years. (little did i know how MUCH i wouldn't be able to handle it?) so i crept back to spend those final weeks here and never left.
6. Why did you choose your icon/pfp?
because i love her and she IS SO IMPORTANT TO ME and i wanted to mix it up a little. something yet remains.
7. Why did you choose your header?
"are there still beautiful things?" is like...the eternal beating question of my heart. seven in general, with the themes of haunting and memory and the sorrow in nostalgia and grief in love and stories being passed on even when you can't recall every moment or detail. that's my whole essence. also, pink.
8. What’s your post with the most notes?
that quote of jennifer carpenter's...you don't understand. she was talking about haunting HIM? but now she haunts ME. the intensity of the irony now considering that i posted it for my own reference, it was the very first dexter-related post i made here (i didn't even have a tag for the show! i didn't think i'd ever be able to watch that show AGAIN! i'm happy i was wrong, paul rudd look at us.gif), i thought it would be relevant to like three people so i didn't source it in the caption, and the gothic horror tumblrinas got hold of it and it took on a life of its own. i like to pretend that revival never happened and was a very poorly constructed bad dream, and i have to ignore the rest of that interview by extension, but girlie really tapped into the other side when she said that.
9. How many mutuals do you have?
i have no idea but 💛💛💛
10. How many followers do you have?
354, i was at like 395 but then the great bot clearance happened. i am teensy, but once upon a time i had over 1200 and that was a lot. seeing the number bon put on this gives me anxiety omg
11. How many people do you follow? 133
12. Have you ever made a shit post?
maybe? i'm not sure what qualifies as that.
13. How often do you use tumblr a day?
sometimes a lot, even if i'm only here for like five minutes at a time. sometimes i'm not here at all and it's just my queue running ghostily for me, it depends how i'm feeling illness-wise from day to day.
14. Did you ever have a fight/argument with another blog?
an actual fight, no. minor disagreements, yes, being falsely accused of something and having to defend myself to complete strangers, yes, and the zany hate messages which were all one-sided beef from anons who think hating on my faves is a power trip? 🥴
15. How do you feel about the ‘you need to reblog’ posts?
Hate them even if they’re something that is important and with good information. If you add that then I will not reblog them. <- this. it's an unnecessary guilt trip and distracts from whatever information or message is being given.
16. Do you like tag games?
I do! Even if I forget to complete them I still appreciate being thought of. <- this too!!! 🥺
17. Do you like ask games?
i never do them because i'm shy and anxious and also think no one will send any of them to me lol
18. Which of your mutuals do you think is tumblr famous?
i don't know if any of them are tumblr "famous"? (are any of you secretly internet celebrities and holding out on me?! 👀) but one of the nice things about tumblr is how that absolutely does not matter here. we can support each other and enjoy one another's content whether we have 12 followers or 12,000 and that's cozy. you're all stars to meeee
19. Do you have a crush on a mutual?
i do not, but i'd hold your hands and kiss your foreheads and wrap you in blankets no matter what.
20. Tags!
i am not tagging anyone because this is long and i talk too much, but please feel free to take it and tag me in it if you do so that i can see your answers! 🥰

I actually really liked those insight posts about Precure brooches, items, and fairies. I was wondering if you could do one about their weapons?
The Precure rankings take quite a lot of time to write so it’s nice that someone reads them!
But yes, the weapons. I haven’t made it a secret that I dislike the toy ad-like weapon designs so I don’t really care for many of these (common complaints: looks ugly and cheap, too much pink even for non-pink characters, rainbow buttons where they don’t belong, buttons or lights that don’t seem to serve any purpose, too much detail), but reading about me complaining about that for dozens of paragraphs probably wouldn’t be very fun. So I won’t put that everywhere and this will be more about judging the items in relation to each other than how they’d fare against all fantasy item designs I know.
Especially with the season I haven’t seen it was a bit bothersome to see if an item was weapon or not, so I just made some quick judgements. I’ll do the other items that aren’t in this or the other precure item posts later.
Futari wa Precure
Not a huge fan of these kind of items where the design philosophy seems to have been “it doesn’t have to resemble a weapon in any way, a pink plastic thing with buttons will do”. I’m not against all weapons looking incredibly impractical (like I love Mew Ichigo’s Strawberry Bell) but here these just look incredibly bland and cynical to me (I mean cynical in a different way than me).
I was going to be more generous with this since I thought it was a bow and bows are always elegant weapons and I’m always happy to have those regardless of how dumb the design looks, but reading the wiki I guess this is a baton instead. Boo! Still I like how it can be both a heart and also be bent open. The design makes me think of a baby toy though with all the round corners.
Futari wa Precure Splash Star
I like how the girls wear their items differently and the way the heart is framed is nice. But apart from that I don’t find these particularly aesthetically appealing, and they also look a bit too busy compared to the rest of the costume. Busy item designs are less of a problem if its a handheld item that’s clearly not a part of the base design, but when the characters are supposed to wear the item it often looks very out of place, as if it was just tacked on because the marketing team demanded it. Okay I’ll stop with this now
Not pictured: the versions with a star instead of heart, but they look otherwise the same and I like the heart better.
Yes! Precure 5
We now reach weapons I actually like! They’re pleasantly simple without unnecessary buttons everywhere, but with the tulip-like design with the cute little swirl there’s actually some point to it and it’s not just haphazardly placed buttons and lights and jewels. And as a fan of customisation I really like how everyone has their own take on the item. The pink girl apparently doesn’t feel the need to fit the theme though and hers is a lot less interesting to me, but at least it can sort of look like a flower (more like a butterfly though) so it’s not completely out of place.
Laser swors? That is a good idea. The flower is pretty too but I’d prefer it if it was a bit smaller, now it looks a bit unbalanced, and also why does everyone have to have a pink one again? Meanwhile the powerup version looks a lot more cheap, busy and gaudy.
Not a fan of this one, it feels like a portable lottery wheel, which would be a fun idea if Milky Rose had to work around with an item that gives her random powers, but I’m guessing that’s not the case. Another option would be that she’d use this to cut pizza. The blue roses and purple handle would make for a pleasant colour scheme, but then there’s the rainbow mini roses which break that, I think this would look more appealing if the roses were detachable and she’d attach the one she wants to use, but I guess the spinning wheel is supposed to be the Thing here.
Fresh Precure!
Pretty standard magical girl wands, white with obligatory pink for everyone and rainbow lights. At least everyone gets a crystal thingy at the tip in their own colour and card suit and it’s nice that they use their items differently (though Berry this is not a sword no matter how you try to slice it) but otherwise I’m not really interested.
Nice colours and the wing is cute, and I actually like the bizarre idea here. Like you could add power to the harp with the heart while playing it, or attach different attacks or whatever. But this exemplifies my main issue with the Precure items: okay, you can’t sell an actual harp with actual strings to kids so you sell this instead, ok. But why does the item in the show have to be a 1:1 replica? Disney can sell Elsa’s castle legos or inaccurate cheap-looking dolls but the counterparts in the movies look perfectly serviceable, so why can’t Passion have actual strings in her harp instead of these huge led lights?
Heartcatch Precure!
I like the metallic or glassy sheen at least in this shot and the shape of the handle. What I don’t like is the middle heavy design, I’d rather have the rainbow thing in the middle (which I’d prefer not be rainbow) either be smaller and moved to the tip, or the end part being longer so it’d look a bit like a sword.
This one is rather basic, like it’s just a circle with hearts around it. But at least it doesn’t do anything stupid and the colour palette checks out.
Suite Precure
I like the idea of being able to split the item in two but especially Rhythm’s looks a bit silly when it’s not in two parts, like now it’s not a baton or staff or really anything I could describe. But somehow I still like Melody and Rhythm’s items, at least they have consistent colour schemes and despite initially looking very different actually use the same base so that’s nice customisation. But how come the pink girl didn’t get the more ornate one? The guitar looks more on the cheap side, this is a toy guitar, not a magic guitar. And are those multicoloured buttons I spy again? But thanks to the more calm colour palette it’s not the worst toy guitar ever at least.
Smile Precure!
My first impression on this was “wow this is so dumb”, but the horse’s sleeping eye with the glamorous eyelashes makes it loop back to awesome. This is girly fairy tale magical girl design cranked up to eleven and I can only marvel the boldness. However like with the Heartcatch wand this one feels a bit unbalanced, the bottom and middle are pretty big so I’d prefer if the “blade” part was a bit longer and again the rainbow hears feel unnecessary.
Based on design alone this is a contender for my least favourite battle item, but I’ll have to hold my full judgement until I see it in action. But this has it all, there’s obligatory pink and rainbow, overdesigned, looks very cheap and gaudy.
Doki Doki! Precure
This is some seriously extreme lipstick. I guess this is a serviceable design if you want to make a lipstick based weapon, it’d probably not look very impressive if it was regular size. I like the twist-able red jewel, and the fact that while she can use different lipstick colours, the item sticks to just red and yellow.
Here we have the collapsible bow I was hoping we’d get with Shiny Luminous. Apart from the obligatory pink palette for everyone I really like these, again bow makes for a great weapon, and I also like its collapsed form, that thing just invites you to press a button and have it open up. Though holding the bow looks kind of awkward. And is this the largest Precure weapon we have? Where are the huge staffs?
For starters, I find there’s something absolutely hilarious about the name “Magical Lovely Pad”. Story-wise it has the baggage of belonging to an attack where the other characters send their power to Mana (of course) so she can take all the spotlight, but as far as the design goes I guess it’s alright for a magical tablet. And I thought this was one of the items where it just floats in the air awkwardly but apparently the Cures do hold it in their hands, so points for that.
The harp is kind of silly looking but i have to commend it for at least having the strings not be thick as a straw.
Happiness Charge Precure!
A pretty straightforward item, nice colour palette and the heart ribbon things at the ends are the same as the bracelet and resemble the brooch too so it’s consistent with the reset of the items in the season. I also like how it can be split into maracas too.
I think the idea of a star-shaped tambourine is perfectly serviceable, but this one just looks kind of cheap, like we’re in the baby chew toy category again. But I feel this could be salvaged if you gave it a more harmonious colour palette, made the heart look more like a crystal and the jingles metal (i.e. not so plastic-y).
This one always felt hilarious in that you have a grown man character showing interest in this thing. But as a weapon it’s one of my least favourites. The makeup pens that come with this are fine I guess (though the makeup the girls put on themselves looks like the “this character doesn’t know how to use makeup” kind) but the main item is very unappealing to me. I guess it boils down to the fact that this kind of items feel more like that the Cures just push a button and then the item does its magic light blast of goodness and love on its own, while with the wands and musical instruments and such the Cures feel more like they’re actively using the weapon.
Go! Princess Precure!
An alright wand, even if the tip feels a bit too heavy. The mostly white-and-goldd design is a lot more preferable to the usual pink, the dress up keys get to take a part, and the tip looks a bit like a crown.
This is in the same category as Passion’s harp, nice colour palette and a musical instruments make for a great magical girl weapon in theory, but here the result is just too cheap and toylike. No way I can imagine a violin sound coming out of this, the only thing I hear is two pieces of plastic rubbing together.
This is it, the worst item. Magical girl weapons don’t all need to resemble actual weapons, but there are some limits to how far you should go. Out of all the Precure items this feels the most like the toy department just said “we want to sell a toy castle, so have the main characters play with one in every episode after its introduction”. Can’t they use a less awkward item to conjure this castle around them and sell a miniature version of that as a dollhouse or something?
As a toy this is fine, like I had a similar little castle (it was semi-transparent blue and you could turn on a pink light in it) and sure I could imagine placing some Pikachu toys on it and have them dance, but as a weapon in a story I hate it.
Mahou Tsukai Precure!
These look pretty nondescript and forgettable. At least they don’t have multicoloured beads running down the staff, but there’s not much to talk about.
This one is cute but kind of basic too; the gold butterfly feels a bit unnecessary but if you remove it the whole thing would be pretty bland. Still, there’s nothing overly stupid and I like that the flower bud doesn’t miss the obvious that it should open in an attack.
Kira Kira Precure A La Mode
This one is a bit too bulky, but at least it makes it stand out a bit more. It also helps the item not look so unbalanced with the huge glass (?) ball in the middle. And it’s nice how you can see the Kira Kiraru in it; it makes the item feel more real when you get to see the resource it uses. The cream like decorations are cute and appropriate and the walking cane shape reminds me of the candy filled plastic canes I used to get from the summer market as a kid.
I got nothing on this, it’s another magical girl wand that doesn’t particularly stand out in any way. At least the rainbow buttons fit the theme this time?
Google tells me it’s an actual product, but to me ‘creamer’ still sounds like a Wrong kind of name to use in a kids’ show. That aside the idea of piping cream on the enemy is fun, but I don’t think they do that in the attack... But for the potential I like the design; unsurprisingly I’d remove the multicoloured decorations on the handle but otherwise it’s alright.
Hugtto! Precure
This one feels really generic, white staff with pink accents and rainbow jewel thingies. Not interested, next!
These look a bit too bulky for my taste, I think they’d look better if the neck was longer. The colours are also a bit too gaudy for my taste (and the guitar totally disappears in Macherie’s dress), though in their defense in better pictures you can see they have more white so the result isn’t quite so stuffy. But still magical guitars make for a good weapon for idol themed characters.
This feels really generic, like it’s just a bunch of hearts glued together. Next!
Star Twinkle Precure
The wand is pretty basic, but there’s something in its simpleness that I like. If you removed the pink and purple crown thingy it would be better, like only neutral white and gold, and everyone’s theme colours equally in the shooting star (or I guess the star is also yellow for Soleil but it still feels more neutral than the usual pink). With its many colours and short tail the shooting star feels like something from a baby nursery but I guess if the tail was longer it’d start feeling more like a sickle.
As for the prefume bottle, I don’t find the design particularly attractive, and it also feels like yet another case where pink has been shoehorned in. And the little ribbon feels very unnecessary.
Healin’ Good Precure
My criticism on Passion’s harp also applies here, and this time I also find the overall design less appealing with several of the details feeling a bit tacked on.
(the wands have already been bitched at in the henshin item post)

A Cure Blossoms from Hope: DR/HPC TG/TF
As Shuichi and his friends were about to end Danganronpa, a fairy shows up with a surprise that Shuichi never expected.
--------DISCLAIMER!!--------
This story contains MASSIVE spoilers for Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony. Please be advised before reading it, as if you haven't played the game yet you will be spoiled on the entire plot about it just from this story!
... or if you don’t want to play the game, you can just watch it on Youtube. Can’t really stop you.
If you don’t care about spoilers or you already played the game to the end, carry on.
“Together, we’re gonna end Danganronpa!"
Shuichi glared at Tsumugi with a level of confidence that he never expected himself to have. He may not be the Ultimate Detective. Maybe this whole facade was a facade itself. But there is one thing that Shuichi and his friends knew for sure. Danganronpa has to end.
“You can’t do this!” Tsumugi yelled. “Danganronpa brings joy to so many people around the world, to men, women, children! It can't just end right now!"
His eyes turned towards his friends: Maki, Himiko and Keebo. Together, nothing can stop them from ending this demented series of killing games. Even if Keebo has been taken over by the audience right now, Shuichi knows that he’ll do whatever it takes to fight alongside them.
“She’s right!” Monokuma defended Tsumugi. “If Danganronpa ends, I’ll be out of a job! Everyone else would be too envious of my cuteness to hire me!”
As Shuichi glared at the two foes with pure determination in his eyes, a voice ringed in his ears.
“Tsubomi! Where are you!”
“Huh,” Shuichi looked around the area. That voice didn’t sound like anyone in the room with him. It was too high and chirpy. “Did anyone hear that?”
“Hear what?” Himiko replied.
“I’m not hearing anything either.”
Shuichi looked towards Tsumugi and Monokuma. Through the look of confusion on their faces, not even they could hear the voice that just echoed through the room.
“Tsubomi!”
The voice echoed again, only this time it was louder and everyone could hear it.
“Who’s Tsubomi?” Maki asked. “Anyone know?”
“I got nothing,” Himiko answered.
“No!”
Shuichi turned to see Tsumugi and he wasn’t expecting him to see her sweat.
“No! No no no no! Not you!”
A bright light appeared in the center of the trial room, briefly blinding everyone in sight. As the light faded, Shuichi saw a creature that he never expected to see in his life.
A white fairy with heart-shaped ears that have a cyan heart marking to match her bangs, tail, and markings on her dark brown eyes. She wears a fuchsia bow with a pink gem star. Her neck has a frilly fuchsia piece held by a silver heart.
“Tsubomi! I’m so glad we finally found you and your friends!” The fairy chirped. “We’ve looked everywhere in the dream world for you!”
As the fairy floated in the room, Shuichi’s friends looked upon the creature. Maki simply stared at the magical being with a look of confusion while Himiko looked at the fairy with awe.
“What the hell am I looking at?” Maki asked.
“It’s a fairy, obviously,” Himiko claimed. “I bet she has a lot of MP in her.”
“Chypre!” Monokuma interjected. “Get out of here! This game was going well without you.”
“Chypre…”
Shuichi knew that name sounded familiar and the name Tsubomi too. Why it sounded familiar, he had no idea.
It was then an image popped into his head. He can remember three girls, one with navy blue hair, one with short brown hair and the last girl had waist-length dark purple hair. They extended their hands out to him, almost like they were calling to Shuichi himself, like they wanted Shuichi to join them, become one of them.
“Who are they?” Shuichi whispered to himself.
“I doubt that,” Chypre replied to the bear.
“W-what should we do, Monokuma?” Tsumugi stammered. “She’s going to ruin everything!”
“You stop her, then.”
Before the Ultimate Cosplayer knew it, Monokuma pushed Tsumugi out of her stand and into the middle of the trial room.
“I-I-I can’t!” Tsumugi stuttered as she stood in place.
“Here!”
Shuichi suddenly found himself with a pale, elongated spray-like object in his hands. The vines on the side were painted in a pale pink. A thickly ornate gold plate is placed on the middle, lined in a dark pink variant, and has a tiny heart-shaped symbol on it. At the middle is a large hole for something meant to be inserted into. On top is a gold, leafy shape with a small hole on it. A similar hole is also on the white rose bud on top of it. Alongside the object was a small pink gem-like token with a small heart shaped hole inches from the top..
“W-what is this?”
“This is your Heart Perfume,” Chypre answered. “I know this doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to you and I know you look nothing like Tsubomi, Tsubomi, but if you just inserted the Pretty Cure Seed into this, everything will make sense.
As he stared at the Heart Perfume, another image appeared in Shuichi’s mind. There were three girls in flower-themed outfits in that image. One with sky-blue hair, one with bright yellow hair and one with lavender hair. They were holding up their own Heart Perfumes. As their artifacts shined, a phrase echoed in Shuichi’s mind, begging to be said out loud. He knew he had to say it.
“Pretty Cure! Open My Heart!”
Shuichi was quick to insert the Pretty Cure seed into the Heart Perfume. As he sprayed the perfume on himself, his clothes began to change.
Gone was his black uniform and in its place was a short white and fuchsia dress with bell-flower shaped sleeves.. His pants were now a white and pink skirt. His dark blue loafers morphed into light pink and fuchsia boots with flowers embroidered onto each side.
Of course, as the transformation proceeded, Shuichi’s clothes weren’t the only thing that changed. His body began to show cracks, pink lights emitting from each one. Like glass, the body shattered, revealing a young girl no older than fourteen. Her hair grew until it was well past her waist. The color of her hair quickly turned neon pink and it was tied in a high, curly ponytail held by a hot pink bow with a small flower. Her red-violet eyes became bright pink as well.
As the transformation ended and Shuichi floated down to the center of the room, he… no, she finally remembered everything.
She is not Shuichi Saihara. She’s not The Ultimate Detective. She’s not even a boy. That last part was yet another lie in a series full of them. Not particularly surprising at this point.
“The flowers spreading throughout the land, Cure Blossom!”
She is Tsubomi Hanasaki. Cure Blossom. The one who would end Danganronpa and take her friends back to the real world.
“Um…” Maki was at a genuine loss for words. “I really don’t know what’s going on anymore.”
“His MP’s off the charts!” Himiko claimed. “Only magic of the most powerful kind can change someone to that extent!”
Tsubomi can’t say Himiko was wrong. It was something truly powerful that turned her into Shuichi and started this whole killing game in the first place.
Her eyes turned towards the two behind everything. It’s time to end this.
“Monokuma, you have caused harm to my friends and everyone in this demented game! I will never forgive you for exploiting our pain for your own personal gain!”
“M-Monokuma?” Tsumugi stuttered. “What should we do?”
“Do I really have to do everything myself?” Monokuma yelled. “Fine! If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself.”
“Yeah! Stop them Monokuma! Danganronpa shall continue-urk!”
Any boast from Tsumugi was cut short when Monokuma plunged his claw right into her chest. Rather than the pink blood that the other students spewed out upon their deaths, black goo oozed from the Ultimate Cosplayer’s body.
“W-why?”
Tsumugi’s dark essence slowly made its way into Monokuma’s body. Her body was slowly decomposing as the bear grew twice his size, eventually crumbling into dust completely, much to the horror of the Ultimate Mage.
“W-what? Isn’t she your assistant of sorts?”
“Don’t worry too much about it,” Maki said. “I would hardly call her death by Monokum’s hands an unforgivable sin.”
“Upupupupu,” Monokuma giggled. Once he was shorter than the majority of his “students”. Now, he easily towered over his opponent. As far as he knew, he was more than a match for the leader of Heartcatch Precure.
“Now then,” Monokuma turned to face Cure Blossom. “I’ll have you know that I’m an expert in Bear-Fu. I graduated top of my class and I can kill a thousand of you prissy girls with both of my hands tied behind my back.”
Monokuma’s boast was only met with a cold glare from the Cure.
“Besides, you know you can’t fight me,” Monokuma smirked. “You could break a nail or mess up your pretty pink hair. Obviously better fit for a salon or something girly like that.”
Still dead silence.
“Nothing to say about my greatness? Alright then. Die!”
Monokuma quickly ran towards Cure Blossom, claws extended. The cure was equally quick to dodge the first swipe of his claws and gave Monokuma a swift punch to the face, knocking the significantly larger bear back a few feet.
“Ow! That hurt!” Monokuma growled. “Very well. Seems like I need to kick things up a notch. Let’s see how good you are at dodging this!”
Monokuma quickly ran back up to Cure Blossom and began throwing punch after punch at his opponent. He threw them at such speeds that, to the untrained eye, he was throwing ten people-sized punches at once.
“Oraoraoraoraoraoraoraoraoraora!”
But regardless of the size, speed and agility of his attacks, Cure Blossom was able to dodge each and every blow that Monokuma dished out. She patiently waited for an opening, a perfect opportunity for her to strike.
It wasn’t long before Cure Blossom figured out where to strike. In his haste to attack his opponent, the despair-obsessed bear paid no attention to the area below his waist. It was obvious that fighting was never Monokuma’s strong suit, especially when it comes to fighting those he can’t overpower easily. His legs were completely vulnerable.
A simple leg sweep was enough to knock Monokuma off of his feet. The air time he had was short, but long enough to allow Cure Blossom to kick her foe high up into the sky.
“Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!” Monokuma yelled. “How are you strong enough to kick me up like that? You’re obviously a shrimp in comparison to me!”
He was in the right position. It was time for her to finish this.
Cure Blossom held out her hand and a pink heart emerged onto it. She threw it up into the air and it turned into her Blossom Tact, an artifact capable of purifying Desertrians like the very threat standing before her right now. She spinned the center of the tact, and rainbow lights went into the gemstone tip of the Blossom tact. The tips surge with purity energy, and Cure Blossom spins before declaring the attack name.
“Pink Forte Wave!”
She then shoots out an energy flower at Monokuma. An implosion occurs, and Cure Blossom’s target is suspended in the air, a cherry blossom having overlapped behind it.
Monokuma struggled to leap back towards his opponent, but the vines on the cherry blossom restrained him to the flower. The bear could do nothing but cry, yell and beg as Cure Blossom finalized the finishing move.
“Let go of me! You should know that I’m allergic to pollen! I can barely keep myself from sneezing!”
Cure Blossom then claps the center of the Blossom Tact to keep the center spinning. As the Blossom Tact spinned faster and faster, reality itself seemed to be breaking apart at the seam. Cracks appeared all over the academy, emitting pure bright light into the area
“Noooooooooooo!”
It was then everything bursted into a ray of light. Cure Blossom covered her eyes with her arm. Monokuma no longer existed. Everything was falling apart, everything was back to normal. That she knew.
When the light faded, Cure Blossom uncovered her eyes. Everyone was back in the park. Everyone who died in the killing game was resurrected back into their original bodies. Her friends along with the random people that were dragged into Monokuma’s scheme because of their unfortunate luck that day were now saved.
Cure Blossom turned to her friends: Itsuki Myoudouin and Yuri Tsukikage. Once Himiko Yumeno and Maki Harukawa respectively, both girls have returned to their true forms. There would be cause for Tsubomi to celebrate as she turned back to normal. But there was one member missing from their group.
“Where’s Erika?” Itsuki asked.
Tsubomi looked around the area for Erika. She must’ve been Keebo during that demented killing game Monokuma set up.
She turned towards the spot where Keebo was.
He’s not her.
Keebo’s true self was just some random guy that got caught up in all of this. Tsubomi felt sorry for him and all of the other people that got dragged into Monokuma’s evil scheme.
Where is Erika? Was she Kirumi? Kaito? Kaede?
“Tsubomi!”
Before she knew it, Tsubomi was pulled into a tight hug by Erika.
“Oh, I’m so glad you saved us! I knew you could do it!”
Tsubomi could feel the memories that Monokuma gave her slowly fading away. Soon the horrific memories and trauma that came from his actions will soon be more than a bad dream. But there was one question that she had to ask.
“Erika? When we were trapped. What was the name Monokuma gave you?”
“What, don’t you remember me, Mister Detective?”
There was only one person who would ever call Shuichi that.
“Kokichi?”
“Yep!”

Fade Into You
Rating: T; for language and suggestive themes.
Pairing: Mikasa x Annie, Mikannie
Summary: For Day Three of Mikannie Week 2k17!
Prompt: Married/Living Together
An unprecedented event interferes with Mikasa and Annie’s first night in their new apartment, but maybe that’s a good thing...
Word Count: 1756
A/N: I managed to whip something up for Mikannie week! :O I wouldn’t be able to forgive myself if I skipped out on it this year, so here! Have some fluff! :D
*Title inspired by this song.
Moving into the new apartment together brought forth the prospect of starting an exciting new chapter in their lives.
For the time being, the small one bedroom flat consisted mostly of boxes stacked up against each other in the living room, each properly labeled according to its contents.
The furniture had yet to be arranged but after hours of perpetual lifting up three flights of stairs under poor weather conditions, Mikasa decided configuring the more complex fixtures could hold off until the next day.
More than ready to relax, she could only hope the rain would let up by morning.
“We’ll move in the rest of the furniture tomorrow,” she said, placing her hands on her hips in resolve. “It won’t take us long to finish unpacking afterward.”
By all accounts, Annie seemed one hundred percent on board. “Fine by me. I could use a little R and R.”
“Oh really?” Mikasa remembered the surprise she’d been saving for their first night in the new place. Her lips curved into a smirk as she walked over to open a small box on the kitchen counter. “I have something that could help out with that,” she said, handling the item with care as she pulled it out.
When she revealed the surprise to Annie, her mawkish efforts at being clever were certainly appreciated.
“Strawberry champagne?” Annie remarked with a wry grin. “Classy.”
Mikasa nodded, toying with the bottle suggestively. “Let’s get tipsy and watch Stranger Things on Netflix.”
Annie huffed at that, eyes darting toward the living room. “So… I don’t know if you’ve noticed but… we haven’t quite set up the TV yet.”
“I’m well aware of that fact,” Mikasa replied, unimpressed. “We’ll watch it on our laptop.” Like old times.
Annie sighed, suddenly reflecting on their college days. “What are we? Back at TU?”
“Don’t act like you didn’t enjoy our little movie nights in my dorm,” Mikasa teased.
“I honestly can’t remember watching a single movie from beginning to end with you,” Annie quipped, voice trailing off into what Mikasa could only assume was a blissfully nostalgic reverie. “We’d always end up making out…”
“And then you’d take off in the morning with one of my hoodies,” Mikasa recalled, the memory simultaneously bringing back the blonde’s ‘alter ego’ to mind. Annie Leonhart: Notorious Hoodie Thief.
Annie raised a brow, moseying on over to the kitchen counter. “At least now you don’t have to wait weeks for me to give them back to you.”
Ah yes. Moving in with the girlfriend meant your wardrobe would practically double.
“I’ll drink to that,” Mikasa hummed sardonically, pointing the bottle away from either of them as she began loosening the cork.
Following a light pop, Mikasa set the opened bottle aside and commenced a search for a pair of wine glasses, sifting through an adjacent box.
“Babe, that one’s labeled ‘utensils’,” Annie informed her.
“Great,” Mikasa sighed in irritation. “Where the hell did we put the wine glasses? The other box says ‘plates’.” She pointed to a box underneath the cabinets. “And that one says ‘bowls’.”
Annie snaked her arm around Mikasa to reach for the sparkly pink bottle.
Typical Mikasa, she thought. And she claims I’m the girly one.
“Who says we need glasses?” the blonde mused, fondling the bottle in amusement. “We’ll drink it straight from the bottle like the sophisticated ladies we are.”
Too worn out to protest, Mikasa shrugged, finding the idea practical in its own way. “If you insist.” Turning her attention to the laptop settled nearby, she promptly opened it up and tapped on the power button- to which there was no response. “Damn,” she muttered. “The battery’s dead.”
“I’ll look for the charger,” Annie offered, indulging in a light sip of champagne before turning away to commence the search.
On a positive note, the cheap stuff was actually pretty good.
“It’s in the small electronics box,” Mikasa notified the petite blonde. “Not the big one.”
Just as she was about to take a swig from the bottle while waiting for Annie’s return, a single clap of thunder echoed across the night sky.
And it was suddenly lights out.
What luck, Mikasa thought in disdain. The power’s out.
“Annie,” Mikasa called out, eyes still adjusting to the abrupt darkness. “We’re going to have to nix the Netflix idea.” Given that the outlets weren’t going to work.
Emerging from the dimness of the hallway, Annie let out a deep breath in utter disbelief as she cautiously made her way back to Mikasa.
“Well that certainly puts a damper on all the fun, doesn’t it?” she jested, slightly cynical.
The pattering of rain droplets continued to rattle against the window, diverting Mikasa’s gaze the opposite direction. In doing so, she caught a glimpse of the fireplace- evoking a whirl of potential ideas.
Now would be a decent time to put it to good use.
Pulling away from the counter, Mikasa turned back to face Annie.
“Maybe not,” she mused, grabbing the car keys. “Let’s make a quick run to the store.”
The nearest Home Depot had only been about a ten-minute drive, and thankfully, they were fully stocked and supplied with firewood.
Following their impromptu trip for supplies, the young couple had returned to the apartment, cozying up next to the fireplace in several layers of blankets, candles abound throughout the unit.
Though it took a moment for Mikasa to kindle some feasible flames, the fire had finally reached a plateau, burning at a consistent rate, neither dissipating nor swelling.
As they took turns finishing off the bottle of strawberry champagne, they further embraced the silence settling between them, watching as the blaze flickered in bright bursts.
Mikasa could feel Annie lean into her, prompting her to adjust the blanket they were sharing to ensure her comfort.
“You falling asleep?” she asked the blonde.
Annie shook her head, nuzzling against Mikasa’s chest. One of her favorite places to be.
“It’s a shame we don’t have any music for the occasion,” Annie said after a brief pause, her voice barely a whisper. “The rain always puts me in a Neko Case kind of mood.”
Mikasa began running her fingers through Annie’s hair, tenderly caressing her light locks.
“It’s nice that we have a mutual affinity for indie music,” Mikasa whispered back. “But… I’m fine like this. The ambience is relaxing.”
Rain continued to pelt the windows. The hearth was still glowing in an effervescent aura.
Annie let out a tiny yawn. “Who would’ve thought there’d be a power outage on our first night in the new place?” Suppressing a small chuckle, she added, “Think it’s an omen?”
Mikasa merely rolled her eyes impishly in response. “On the contrary,” she began, “I think it’s a good sign.”
“How so?” Annie muttered.
Mikasa was quick to make something up, well-meaning as always. “They say if the power goes out the first night you move in with a lover, you’re destined to be together for life.”
Annie perked her head up, addressing Mikasa with an unimpressed visage. “You totally made that up just now.”
Mikasa bluffed anyway, continuing her witticisms in carefree fashion. “Hey, the confirmation is always nice. It’s a relief to know that the universe or some otherworldly force is rooting for us.”
Annie only scoffed at that, feeling Mikasa up as she trailed her hand from the ravenette’s waist to her collarbone. “Well, frankly, I don’t need a storm or a dramatic flashing neon sign to know that I want to marry you someday.”
The remark had Mikasa blushing like a crazed schoolgirl. The topic of marriage had come up before, though it had been under more casual settings or sometimes as a light-hearted joke. However, being bundled up together in a fortress of blankets, in front of a warm fire, on their first night in what would be their new home seemed to add a more intense element to the concept. Like it felt real- all within a measly grasp.
Mikasa could definitely see it in her future… their future.
Maybe she didn’t have to marry Annie in order to hold her like this every night, or wake up with her every morning.
But being married would consummate their love for another; a promise to stay committed ‘til death do us part.
The ultimate vow.
Except, there was one tiny thing that brought about curious inclinations- one of utmost importance.
“When we do get married,” Mikasa hummed, looking below at her sweetheart, “what are we gonna do about our last names?”
Annie blinked a few times in thought. It was a fair enough question, even if she presumed Mikasa was only being cute. “I suppose you’d want me to take yours?” she mused. “Annie Ackerman…”
She liked the way that sounded.
A smile fell to Mikasa’s lips as she playfully reversed the idea. “What about Mikasa Leonhart?”
“It flows nicely,” Annie quipped, thinking of another resolution. “We could always combine our last names.”
Mikasa took the proposal seriously. Ackerman plus Leonhart… equals…? “Leon… man?”
God, that sounded awful.
“Yikes,” Annie mumbled, giving her a half-smile.
“Maybe… Ackerhart?” Mikasa chuckled, hoping that was a step up.
“Ackerhart is better…” Annie drawled. “But what I meant by combining our last names was just putting a dash in between them.”
As in, Leonhart-Ackerman. Or Ackerman-Leonhart.
Mikasa dismissed the small wave of embarrassment rushing over her, knowing full-well she’d never live that down.
“Mikasa Ackerman-Leonhart,” she whispered meditatively. “Quite the mouthful, but I like it.”
Annie averted her gaze to the fire once more, feeling herself drift into a peaceful slumber.
“Me, too,” the blonde agreed, closing her eyes. “I think it’s lovely.”
Mikasa caught on to the drowsiness of the blonde’s voice; a mixture of being tispy from the champagne and exhaustion from the day’s constant hustling about. She cupped her mouth as it gave way to an unrelenting yawn, but aimed to keep herself awake even after Annie had already fallen asleep. She decided she’d wait until the fire had died out.
It wasn’t long before Annie’s tiny snores added to the ambiance of rain from the storm and the soft crackling of firewood being consumed. Mikasa looked down at the blonde lying against her, and stroked her cheek endearingly.
She could never get tired of watching Annie sleep at night.
Leaning down to kiss her forehead, Mikasa shared one final quiet sentiment, hoping the blonde was having only the sweetest of dreams.
“I love you, Annie.”
Goodnight.

In The Blood Ch.7
Raven wasn’t in by the time I came back to the dorms. Must be still out wreaking havoc on the weak hearted guys that couldn’t resist her charms. I figured I’d catch her tomorrow after she comes back from her last exam in the morning. Until then, I’ll just unwind. I kicked off my heels and placed my purse on a nearby desk chair. Heading to the bathroom, I found a discarded hair tie on the bathroom counter and pulled my hair back into a ponytail, changing into my pajamas afterwards. It was peaceful tonight, since most of the students who had plans to leave for spring break had already left after their exams. Now would be the perfect time finish my book from earlier. Curling up in my bed, I unfolded the page I stopped on and started reading again, with soft music playing on my phone in the background. About thirty minutes had passed before my music was briefly interrupted by a text message. I placed my book down in exchange for my phone. It was Yongguk.
“Hey, what’s up?” -Yongguk. My fingers danced across the keyboard.
“Just reading. What’s up with you?”
“Oh, am I interrupting the book worm?” -Yongguk
“Haha no. You’re not interrupting. What’s going on?”
“Nothing really. I just felt like talking to you.” I shouldn’t be smiling at that. It wasn’t a big deal.
“Any plans this spring break?”
“Just visit my folks for a few days. I’ll be back before the break is over though. What about you?”
“I’m staying on campus this time around. My aunt is on a cruise now, so she’s not even home.”
“When I come back do you want to hang out? We can catch that movie you were talking about last week.”
“Really? But you said sci-fi movies weren’t your thing.”
“I know, but they’re your thing. I’m willing to suffer through it.”
“Thanks, Gukkie.”
“No problem Haze. It’s a date.” It’s definitely not a date. It will never be a date. We’re just friends.
“Well, I think I’m going to turn in. Goodnight.”
“Goodnight Haze. Sweet dreams.”
I started playing my music again, trying to get back to my book. After a while the words started to. It wasn’t a big deal. I’ve hung out with Yongguk plenty of times. It was just two friends spending time with each other. Then what was up with that whole “it’s a date,” thing? Well, it is just a saying. He didn’t mean anything by it. Frustrated with the thoughts that battled each other inside my head, I eventually slammed my book down, got up to turn the lights off, and threw myself in bed. Getting any reading done wasn’t possible anymore. Outside was quiet and still while my mind was buzzing like a swarm of bees.
I don’t know when I fell asleep, but surprisingly I felt well rested. I was woken up by Raven’s small body, jumping up on my bed excitedly. I groaned from the sudden intrusion, trying to kick the bouncing body off my bed.
“Oh, come on Haze! You promised we could go shopping after my exams are done. And guess what? I’m done! Can we go now? Please?” I slowly removed the pillow that was covering my mess of a head, letting out a sigh. Raven tugged on my arm pulling me into a sitting position. Another groan leaves my throat. My hair tie broke in the middle of the night, so I could only imagine how my hair looked right now.
“Alright. Alright. Just give me a few minutes to get ready first.” A gleeful screech escaped her as she jumped off my bed, allowing me to get up myself. This is going to be long ass day.
The mall was bright and cheery. There were families walking about, smiling at their children and as they bounced excitedly on the balls of their feet whilst holding a slice of pizza or corndog from the food court. Over by the Greek influenced fountain placed in the center of the mall were a couple of teenage girls flicking coins in the water with their eyes closed. I wonder what they wished for. For their parents to buy them that one expensive thing they just have to have? Or maybe to pass the midterms with the grades they felt they earned? I found myself smiling to myself, curious as to what they would become when they got older. A doctor? Lawyer? Or maybe an artist? That was my wish at their age at least. I felt a tug on my arm, being pulled out of my own little world. I allowed Raven to pull me this way and that to various stores that piqued her interest…which was pretty much every other store. I didn’t mind though. Hanging out was Rae was fun and different from hanging out with Yongguk for more than one reason. Besides, I enjoyed shopping if my wallet allowed it. Probably not as much as Raven did. She practically lived for it. If she could make a career out of shopping, she probably wouldn’t be in college right now.
The store we had just entered was bright and played the top trendy songs that were always heard on the radio, providing a fun loving atmosphere. This store was obviously one of the most girly ones that we visited so far. There were lots of pinks, powder blues, light yellows, and whites. Very Springy. The articles of clothing were mostly dressy tops with ruffles or an off the shoulder concept, skirts, dresses that you could pair with sandals or heels, depending on the occasion. The store was exactly Raven’s style. The store was also having a sale. I knew we were going to be here for a while. I left Raven’s side, browsing through the different pieces of clothing, without really giving much thought to them. I found a couple of shirts that I liked. Thumbing through the rack, I found my size and decided to get them without trying them on. Going in a dressing room to try on a mountain of clothes was my least favorite part about shopping, in all honestly. If it fits, then great. If not, then at least it was on sale and didn’t cost more than ten bucks. Raven on the other hand was already in the dressing room with the stack of clothes she found in a matter of thirty minutes. I think she might’ve tried on about nine different outfits before I found a bench to sit on waiting for her to emerge. Her door finally open and her eyes had a flood of relief when she spotted me playing on my phone.
“Oh thank heavens, you’re here now. Which outfit should I get?” I looked over each item she picked out and came up empty. She knew that I was never really any good at this, but she still asked for my opinion nonetheless. I gave the clothes another hard look, struggling to come up with an appropriate answer. I finally decided on the blue ensemble. Blue always looked good on her, no matter what shade.
“How about this one?” I said pointing to the light blue dress.
“I was thinking the same, but I also like this one.” She held up the pink and white dress that was once laying on the pile of clothes she had accumulated.
“That one’s cute too, Rae.” I can already see where this is going. By the end of all this debating, she will eventually buy most, if not all, of the pieces she picked out.
“Ugh! This is so frustrating Haze. Why can’t I just decide on one? I’m going crazy here.” She began to pout as her brow furrowed, concentration marking her face. Saying eenie meenie miny moe, no doubt. I couldn’t help but to laugh at her “dilemma.”
We finally left the shop after waiting on Raven to decide that she was indeed going to buy all but two of the clothes she picked out. She was about to drag me to another store, but I dug my heels into the ground. She looked at me with confusion.
“Rae, if you’re going to keep dragging me to stores, I’m going to need food.” She laughed, nodding her head.
“Sorry Haze. I forgot that we didn’t eat before leaving.” At that her own stomach growled. I shook my head at her, draping my arm around her delicate shoulders as I lead us towards the food court. I had decided on a simple slice of pepperoni pizza, while Rae got a sub for herself. We searched for a while for the cleanest table available. Rae spotted one before me, and speed walked to it, before it could get claimed by anyone else. We started eating in silence at first, taking in the noises of the mall. Kids laughing and playing in the children’s area. Babies crying. Random packs of teenagers talking loudly amongst themselves. Despite the noise, I rather enjoyed it. The silence between Raven and I didn’t break until Rae cleared her throat, gaining my attention.
“So, how was your date with Ethan?” A slow smile crept on my lips remembering the date with him last night.
“That good, huh?” She teased.
I recounted everything from the date. The way he was dressed when he picked me up. The restaurant. The conversation we shared throughout dinner. Well not everything we talked about. I didn’t mention the Yongguk thing. Other than that I recounted everything I could think of.
“It sounds like he’s a complete gentleman Haze. How’d you get so lucky?” I shrugged.
“It’s still early. You know people put their best face on in the beginning. He could be a real jerk in the end.”
“Haze, don’t count him out already. It was only the first date. This guy could be meant for you.” I scoffed at her fantasy after only the first date with Ethan.
“We’ll see,” was all I said. Silence came over us for a couple of minutes until Rae broke it again.
“Haze?”
“Hm?”
“You like him don’t you?” her eyes almost looked pleading.
“Yeah, so far. I mean he’s handsome, nice, and generous from what he’s shown me so far. What’s not to like about him?”
“Then why are you so hesitant about him? From the looks he gets around school, he’s quite a catch. You two seem to vibe really well. I just don’t understand, is all.” A small smile found its way on my lips. I appreciated her for caring and wanting to see me with a great guy. I really did. It’s just I didn’t want to rush anything. Especially since I still didn’t have a full grasp of my feelings for Yongguk. Of course she couldn’t understand. I hadn’t told her. I hadn’t told anyone. It was still amazing how Ethan was able to pick up on it last night. I wasn’t afraid of rejection per se. I was afraid of my group of friends changing due to the rejection. I didn’t want anyone to feel sorry or bad for me if I got rejected. Which in turn would make my friends start hanging out in separate groups. Not wanting to convene together in fear of me being hurt, or Yongguk feeling guilty because he rejected me. It was just a can of worms that wasn’t worth opening. I was content with how everything was right now, and didn’t have any plans on changing that. But instead of explaining all of this to Rae, I settled for a simpler explanation.
“I just don’t want to rush anything, Rae. You know how I am.” She sighed.
“Yeah, I know. I just want you to have that epic romance that you deserve. Like Romeo or Juliet or something.” I couldn’t stop my laughter.
“Umm Rae, you do know that Romeo and Juliet is full of nothing but drama and death. The main characters don’t even get a happy ending. They both die.”
“Well, yeah. But up until the double suicide thing, they were star-crossed lovers. They were destined to be together. That’s what I was referring to.” I could only shake my head.
“We’ll see how things go, okay?”
“Okay. I wish you the best of luck. And if he turns out to be a douche, just let me know. I’ll borrow a spell or something from that one Shakespeare play. ‘Bubble Bubble…something.’”
“Alright, deal. And the play is ‘Macbeth’ by the way.” I said between fits of giggles. “You’re referencing Shakespeare a lot. Seeing a Literature major? Is he cute?”
“Oh, he’s downright scrumptious.” She said with a wink.
