Izuku quickly realises that while he hadn’t considered Kacchan as a romantic option, he is in fact absolutely in love with him… but Kacchan thinks Izuku deserves better than him. Izuku, of course, can’t let that stand. And now they’re engaged in some sort of psychological flirt-off, much to the dismay of everyone around them.

Note: I LOVE the characterisation of Deku, he’s an absolute disaster, but I can see that it might be love it or hate it as the author does exaggerate his social issues a lot. This Deku is explicitly, intentionally autistic and it's a close third person POV so we're very much in his head... which is kind of a mess.

Meanwhile, Katsuki discovers a dystopian world where half his friends are dead or injured — not to mention this world’s Deku, who is all sorts of broken up over meeting an adult Kacchan. Will he be able to fix the problems with this world before he gets home? And which world will he choose to stay in?

Unsurprisingly, Kacchan’s there too — and their drift compatibility is through the roof. Much to Izuku’s dismay, even piloting a Jaeger together isn’t enough to regain their close friendship as children. Will almost dying (twice) be enough for them to finally be truly honest with each other?

Here’s a snippet of a post-canon third year BakuDeku fic I started writing a while back. Tentatively called “to the marrow” and really heavy on Katsuki pining. I really want to write/publish it but I got stuck at about 25k. Anyway I like this scene so here. (SFW)

Third-year combat training is much more intense than the previous years, often involving some kind of limiting factor or severe handicap. They’ve all learned through first-hand experience why this is important, and they don’t question even the most ridiculous of scenarios that their teachers throw at them. In battle—in war, anything can happen. Nothing is certain. You have to be ready to win by the skin of your teeth, and you have to be creative.

Today’s exercise is pretty simple in the scheme of things—namely one on ones that center around capture and escape. Because of the rules, Katsuki’s only option during the entire scenario is evasion. And boy fucking howdy, kiting someone with as many quirks as Izuku is fucking difficult, but he’s Bakugou fucking Katsuki, so he makes it happen. He flies around Ground Beta like a bat out of hell, and has been doing such a good job of it that Izuku is pissed.

Katsuki’s win conditions are running out the clock and hoping Izuku somehow domes his head in the course of their rat race around the training ground. But Izuku is just too fucking competent. Black Whip is always snapping at his heels, and it’s only Katsuki’s agility and maneuverability in the obstacle-laden training ground that allows him to keep ahead, even when Izuku manages to predict his path and tries to cut him off using Fa Jin. Katsuki would love more than anything to quip back that Izuku is really fucking good at blasting forward in straight lines, but that his aerial maneuverability is shit, but he doesn’t even have enough of a lead to make a single stupid jab, the green monster hot on his fucking heels. It’s not a big deal though—he’ll have time to gloat when he wins.

Eventually, a loud timer blares, signaling the end of their thirty minutes, and Katsuki lands heavily on a series of wide ducts. He wipes sweat from his brow and out of his eyes, whole body absolutely drenched, arms limp with soreness, heart beating like a fucking engine, and Izuku lands a half second later, Black Whip pulling him precisely to land not two steps away from Katsuki.

“Kacchan,” he yells, fists clenched as he gets in Katsuki’s face, and Katsuki doesn’t back down, just spits to the side, grinning. It’s especially fun because he didn’t even have to do anything dirty to win. He won fair and square, but Izuku is still pissed.

“Forgot what losing feels like?” Katsuki taunts, chest blooming haughtily as he throws his height in Izuku’s face. God the look in his eyes—teeth grinding. “Gotten so used to being the best that—”

“Hypocrite—Fuck you,” Izuku bites, fist knocking against his stomach, a warning, and Katsuki’s eyebrows raise sharply, an electric thrill up his spine. He loves it when Izuku is thoroughly pissed. He spits and snarls just like Katsuki, and Katsuki feels it like his brand on Izuku’s brain, a part of himself in Izuku that will never go away.

Despite winning this time, Katsuki understands that agony in Izuku’s eyes, that feeling that builds up in the back of your throat when you’re trying so hard to fucking win, the stakes of your life and millions of lives all inside of you as you fight with literally everything you fucking have. Because of what they’ve been through, they go through even these stupid skirmishes all out, as if everything is on the line.

Black Whip surges, locking around Katsuki’s chest, and Aizawa’s projected voice snaps them out of it: “Back to base, boys. These matches are long, we don’t have time for this.”

After a final squeeze, Katsuki shrugs off the slackened Black Whip, still huffing, and extends his hand to Izuku.

Izuku’s eyes clear somewhat. There’s a lag, but he clasps it.

“God, you’re slippery,” Izuku laughs, moment gone, and Katsuki smirks back. He could be referring to Katsuki’s flying or the fact that he is covered in explosive sweat—maybe both.

“And you fucking lost. Now get out of here before I use you as a fucking towel.”

It's been years since Izuku lost the last embers of One for All. At least once a month, Katsuki Bakugou would be asked to make an appointment at I-Island and help with the practical training of the hero suit. After all, he was the one who faced One for All and trained alongside the quirk the most. He knew what the six other quirks and reaction times were like and how Izuku fought. That was the second and much nobler reason Katsuki convinced himself for moving to America. When the late nights with no sleep and working overtime to fund the suit got tiring, Katsuki would slump against a wall. He’d knock his forehead into the brick and tell himself that Izuku deserves this. He deserves to be a hero the most out of everyone. No amount of unrequited feelings on Katsuki’s end would stop him from giving Izuku the quirk and dream he should’ve been granted from the beginning. SPOILER WARNING for the last chapter of the My Hero Academia manga: I still can't believe Horikoshi dropped this mega bombshell reveal of Kacchan working his butt off for 8 years and spending his entire life savings to give Izuku back his dream, then Horikoshi immediately dipped without further explanation. Throughout middle school and their first year at UA, Kacchan kept a healthy distance from Izuku, orbiting around like a vaguely offended moon. He always took great care to not let their gravities crash together in any meaningful way. During those years, aside from fighting, every tender touch shared with Katsuki had been so laden with panic that Izuku would hardly remember the feeling of his skin over his own fear.

Older and moderately wiser now, Izuku knows that touch is not only a source of connection, pleasure or violence. It is communication. It’s everything that cannot be put into words. He thinks if touch could be translated, their prepubescent years would be some culmination of “don’t come any closer” and “I don’t understand you”.

After the war however—after Izuku’s hands were stained with Katsuki’s warm blood, blood that never did wash out—the meaning behind those touches changed. It became Izuku reaching out to ask: “are you there?”

And Katsuki steadily, and frequently, reciprocated: “I’m here”.

Summary:

UA is closing the dorms for a last minute refurbishment over Winter Break - including the teacher's apartments, where Izuku lives. Katsuki just so happens to have an empty guest room and a cute cat ready to welcome Izuku. This is a fic about falling in love, but its also about friendship, and learning to appreciate those who love us. If in the process these adorable idiots manage to get together, all the better. Hi, I've been meaning to tell you this for a while now but I kept getting shy lmao but I wanted to say how funny I found it that in chapter 4 of SJLT, it seems like Deku and Scribbs really hit it off, like multiple times 😂 it seems so in character for him and I can't figure out why? I love that he's characterized like a little pervert throughout the fandom, and not that them going at it multiple times is preverted, it just seems so in line with someone like Deku to be very enthusiastic now that this door to physical intimacy has opened 😂 and he's diving head first!

As opposed to Weeds and Kacchan! Their situations were different because Deku was at the gala and it was a normal Tuesday for Kacchan when he made his move, but I didn't get the impression Kacchan was waking Weeds up in the middle of the night for round 2 😂 I don't know! It somehow matches their character and how they approach physical intimacy maybe? I don't know if any of that was on purpose, but it felt right regardless. Kind of a silly thing to praise but I enjoyed it! Adds more to them and their relationships I think. Loved it! Have a nice day!

omg lmfao hi hi hi, hello. okay okay, i actually have some thoughts about this—like, why so many of us characterise Izuku as uh, more intense than we might do with others LOL, and i think it just boils down to his sincerity! like, it’s so earnest and disarming, right? he goes after the things he wants and believes in with like, very little regard to what he should do—so it’s so so easy to imagine him chasing the physical rush of being with someone in the same way. especially someone he’s been pining for! izuku seems so easily overwhelmed with how he feels, both good and bad—and being intimate with someone is overwhelming! especially if you’ve wanted it for a while. i think his being so ready to throw down and roll down is just another way for him to express that. 🥹

to be fair to Katsuki, he was at Weed’s late on a work night, after a work day, and also had to go back into work early the next morning LMAO. he stole what time he could and made the most of it and then got some goddamn sleep afterwards. 🥹 i do think they’d approach sex and intimacy differently, in very telling ways! like kacchan’s more relaxed, honestly—both in the fics and in canon, in some regards. whereas izuku and scribble’s first time is about being unleashed, kacchan’s and weeds was more… idk! surrendering, lmfao (title drop 🎤). everything is important, when it comes to like—showcasing someone. 🥺 how they brush their teeth (or not), how they come to a pause at a traffic light—how they meet someone else halfway, and come together. i’ve always read izuku as like, unconsciously needing to take as much as he can, once he’s sure it’s his to have. he had to fight for OFA, he had to break himself apart to be granted it—and now he wields it and has made it his own. as far as we know, he is the last holder of it—it’s his to have. compare that to kacchan—kacchan who was born with an incredible power, who got used to being given things—only to then get the shit kicked out of him, come his teenage years, and shown why being given something incredible wasn’t enough to guarantee greatness. i like to think that as an adult that would give kacchan a sureness, in all things—when he’s given something incredible now, he’s not going to take it for granted or some divine right. he’s not going to rush with it. he’s going to take his time and prove he’s worthy. those fundamental ways that they’ve both been challenged and reinvented would inform everything they do—even how they’d touch, or want to touch, someone they love. 🥺🌷

About 3 months after Izuku moved in, is when things started to settle. Hi everyone, I'm Elliot (he/him)

This is my bakudeku side blog.

I've been in the MHA fandom since 2017, I've been a bakudeku shipper since Kacchan v Deku 2, and Kacchan is one of my favorite characters of all time. The series has had it's ups and downs, I've been out of the fandom for a while, only coming back for delicious bakugo/bakudeku moments.

I love the story but have some complaints, so you will see that in my blog. Mostly it's Bakudeku fanart I love, fanfic, and metas
