y’all wanna hear about my pikelan au where pike, keyleth, and vex own a bakery and, to celebrate their first big year, go on a girl’s trip to dalen’s closet or somewhere equally tropical. while hanging out at the resort’s lounge the first night, pike immediately strikes up a playful rapport with the lounge singer, scanlan. she spends every subsequent night staying up long after her friends have gone to sleep so that she can hang out with him after his sets. they get drinks and talk and walk along the moonlit beaches. probably go skinny dipping once or twice. it’s flirty. it’s playful. it’s very quickly something, but neither of them want to be the first to acknowledge it.
after all, what’s there to do?
swap numbers and socials and continue to play at something that can never really be anything when they’re oceans apart until it peters out and they’re both disappointed?
or, y’know...
it takes pike until the last day and numerous pep talks from her girls, but she gathers her courage and comes to scanlan with a proposition: one night, no regretting or lamenting, just enjoying that they even got this time together.
it’s magical, to say the least.
the next morning, scanlan wakes up alone, and he does his best to swallow his disappointment that she didn’t wake him to say goodbye. didn’t even leave a note. until, pike reappears in his room, still bare and beautiful, carrying a plate of toast and complaining about the lack of food in his apartment. she snuggles up in bed with him. she drapes her body all over his as if they’d done it for years. and scanlan knows he’s ruined. he’s fuckin’ gone for this woman. cupid’s arrow never felt more like a curse.
but, pike said no regrets and no laments, so he cobbles together a proper breakfast for her and enjoys the way she gleefully takes up space in his space and touches him as if he is and will always be hers. then, he delivers her to her friends at the airport and (painfully, regretfully, privately lamenting the whole damn time) lets her go.
pike is far more at peace with it.
or so she adamantly proclaims.
she humors her friend’s jokes about “her vacation boyfriend” and “tropical true love” and pretends that her new habit of daydreaming and wistful sighs as she stands behind the bakery counter is only a temporary side effect.
after all, what’s there to do?
they both agreed that it was better to have one perfect night than try to complicate it with logistics and expectations.
that was the right choice.
she made the right choice...right?
a couple months later, while in the bread aisle at the grocery store, who should she run into but scanlan fuckin’ shorthalt. her vacation boyfriend. her tropical true love. both of them reaching for the same loaf of bread. hands touching. gazes meeting.
her first reaction is anger. to jump to the conclusion that scanlan lied to her and led her on with some sob story about an estranged daughter so that she’d think he was a good guy and fall into bed with him.
it doesn’t help that, while staring at her, slack-jawed and wide-eyed, scanlan stutters out,”you said you were from westruun”.
when their arguing pulls a crowd, pike storms out of the store, and scanlan follows. with the initial shock gone, he explains that, not long after pike left, sybil got in contact with him and told him that -- fine, if he wants to be in kaylie’s life, he better come be in it and prove it. he’d thought about pike every day since that night. wanted to contact her as soon as he came to tal’dorei. but pike had told him that she was from westruun; she never told him that she lived in emon. so he figured that he would still be asking for long distance, still be putting too much pressure on something that pike had only wanted to be one night.
“i didn’t want one night!” pike snaps. “i thought that’s all we had! you made me believe that’s all we had!”
they stare at each other in tense, charged silence.
“can i take you out to dinner?” scanlan asks, breathlessly.
and, well, it’s a start.
[tldr; what if the pikelan slow burn but they already resolved the sexual tension so all that’s left are the messy, complicated feelings?]

Are the couples already together in DWTS AU or is DWTS how they meet?👀
I love this question because I have thoughts!
Pike and Scanlan have an on and off relationship that's been going on for multiple seasons.
Vex and Percy have bumped into each other a few times, but their first time meeting for real is during DWTS.
Vax and Kiki on the other hand, meet and fall in love during their season together. And because I can't stop myself, Vax has lowkey been having a thing with Gilmore for a while.

Vox Machina College AU
These are more so rough ideas and such, I’m hopping to write fanfic drabbles and at some point a true fanfic for it (They might not be connected fully :’3 we’ll see) Also even tho I am 22, I did not go to college so most info I get on that front is coming from light research and my friends experiences :’3
Percy and Keyleth have been best friends since high school
High school was rather rough for Percy and Keyleth causing them to have a very close bond to each other.
For a good chunk of their time in college they live together.
Cassandra though she wouldn’t outwardly admit it she does think of Keyleth like a sister. Percy also thinks of Keyleth like a sister but is more likely to admit it.
Percy is in engineering and has a tendency to make fidget toys for Keyleth in this spare time
Keyleth is in botany, she sometimes makes special teas for Percy to help him relax and sleep.
Keyleth is on anti anxiety meds but has a nasty habit of forgetting to take them.
Vex is in zoology/vet med
Vax is in mortuary science
Pike is in Med
Scanlan is in music and business
Grog is in sports and  physical education
Vex, Vax, and Trinket live in a rather old run down apartment a ways from campus.
Trinket is a very large fluffy dog.
Percy has a photography hobby, his favorite people to take pictures of are Keyleth and later Vex.
One of keyleths hobbies is drawing/painting, usually she draws/paints animals and plants but she has drawn Percy before and later does draw the rest of her friends at times, the twins more then others.
It’s rare for both Keyleth and Percy to be drunk at the same time but it always flabbergasts the group when they are and how chaotic the two will be together.
Keyleth has bad sensory issues.
Pike lives on campus but doesn’t have a dormmate.
Grog and Scanlan are dormmates.
Percy has a car thats roof can go down, when he and Keyleth are feeling bad sometimes they’ll just drive around at night with the top down and music playing.
Keyleth and Percy both like 60-80s music.
Romantic relationship focus is on Vaxleth, Percahlia, and kind of pikelan
Pikelan eventually leads from romance to a close bond instead.
All platonic ships are focused on.

In a modern AU where Pike and Scanlan are happily raising their kids, Juniper ends up taking an early interest in soccer. Scanlan, though he is often busy, manages to make every single game and plays the flute from the side to help give her inspiration. Meanwhile Pike, every time without fail, shows up in a jersey and cheers her on, giving her some of her favorite cookies in celebration as their afternoon wraps up. It becomes their favorite weekend tradition as they get to proudly watch their daughter improve over the years :)

Scanlan was a professional.  So he played for the Lady, to the Lady, or at least he’d been able to make her imagine he was.  He expected her eyes to widen, her body to shiver–all normal reactions to his concentrated attentions, but after that he’d only expected a hefty tip, a generous laugh at his audacity and a comfortable, sneering self-assurance that only the confidently rich and titled held.
He’d gotten all of that.  Of course he did.  He was a professional.
He’d also gotten kidnapped by the Lady’s guards, which was not expected.

Hear me out on this:
Pikelan Hallmark Movie AU where jaded rock star Scanlan Shorthalt's tour bus breaks down on the way to a concert and he's stuck in a small town while it gets repaired and ends up falling for small town nurse Pike Trickfoot. Call it Gnome for the Holidays.
Further random thoughts below the cut
Probably Scanlan ends up staying with Wilhand and Pike while the bus is being repaired
Grog's there too--he's a former biker gang member who ended up settling down in the town and becoming a mechanic after he got shot and Pike nursed him back to health. He's the one working on the bus.
Kaylie has to get involved somehow--I think maybe the concert Scanlan was on the way to is where she lives, or she's in a band that was going to open for him, and this was their big chance to reconnect (or possibly meet for the first time) and she shows up in the small town near the end of the movie

Do you have a royalty AU for pikelan???
I apologize for the delay! I see Pikelan, as a couple and individually, being rather antithetical to the role and circumstance of royalty. So, I needed some time to rotate a couple ideas around in my head until I found one that felt right and, even so, it's more royalty-adjacent. Still, I hope that you enjoy! also, this idea was inspired, in part, by The Cry of The Icemark. no formal knowledge of it needed. i was just heavily influenced by a scene from it for this idea so wanted to give credit where credit is due.
After an inexplicable haze befalls the royal family of Whitestone and much of their royal guard, locking them in a magic stasis, Ser Pike Trickfoot – saved from the spell by her touch from the divine – must defend her home and friends from the approach of the Briarwoods and their undead army.
At her side is the traveling singer, Scanlan Shorthalt.
In better times, the two were better acquainted as drinking buddies. Despite being a noble knight by occupation, Pike is a simple, country girl at heart. There is only so much pomp and circumstance and royal idiosyncrasies that she can stomach before she must take a night off to mingle with the people. Scanlan made frequent stops to Whitestone. (Even more so after he first spotted Pike). And it only took a couple shows and a few drinks before the two found themselves engaged in a reoccurring game of flirtatious chicken. Neither of them ever caving.
Now, with the kingdom in disarray, Scanlan arrives with news of the approaching darkness and an offer of his help. An offer that Pike initially refuses – not wanting a civilian to put themselves into danger, no matter how charming they may be – until Scanlan reveals that he is no simple singer but a purveyor of the lost arcane arts, a true bard, in the flesh!
Together, the two travel to seek allies and guidance – appealing to the druids, the roving giants, and even the dead.
It is with the druids’ help that they receive a book of the ancient arcane. Within it may be a spell to undo the curse upon the kingdom but, first, it must be translated from the long dead language in which it was first written.
As Pike rallies their gathered troops, Scanlan sets to work.
Meanwhile, the approaching darkness creeps ever closer.
The night before it crests upon the kingdom, Scanlan – wild-eyed and sleep deprived – bursts into the war room where Pike (tired-eyed and sleep deprived) is and announces that he has uncovered the spell. To celebrate, the two descend into the city. In the tavern, despite the eve of war, the hodgepodge troops drink and revel and sing. Scanlan and Pike join them. Their familiar game quick on their heels. They spend the night, dancing on tables, hands grasping hands and shoulders and waists, body seeking body, spinning, laughing until they fall asleep under a table, so tangled in each other that it just made sense to stay that way.
In the morning, they untangle. Hands and gazes linger, just a moment, long enough to swap hushed reassurances, before they move grimly to their tasks.
Scanlan locks himself in the throne room with the cursed royal family, spell book in hand, and begins the recitation.
Pike dons her armor and rides to the front lines. Following in her wake are the giant Grog, Keyleth of the druids, and the ghastly Vax.
At dawn, darkness descends.
Deep in the castle, Scanlan sets his jaw and tries to block out the noises of war. Pike left a troop to guard him should the worst come to pass and the enemy breaches the city walls. He knows that Pike would die before she let that happen, and that knowledge sits like a clawed thing in his gut, digging its talons ever deeper, as the fighting seems to grow closer and closer.
Pike’s in trouble, the thought hits him, sudden and fierce.
His focus wavers. The spells only needs another hour more, but what does it matter if Pike’s not here in the end?
Scanlan throws down the book and runs for it.
Outside, a storm rages unlike any that Whitestone has ever seen. Rain lashes at Scanlan’s skin as he races to the city wall and climbs the tallest tower on the battlements.
There, despite the rain in his eyes and the chaos of the battlefield, Scanlan’s gaze focuses on Pike amongst the fray. She is badly wounded, a heaviness to her steps, but she fights on as relentless and fierce as the storm. She would never go down without a fight, but Scanlan refuses to let her go down at all. As lightning strikes in the distance, lighting the battlefield and followed by a stone-shaking crack of thunder, Scanlan remembers another spell from that book. It’s dangerous. Stupid. Reckless. Certain death for him, that’s for sure, but –
Pike slips in the mud, barely shielded from an incoming attack by Grog, and Scanlan moves without another thought. Using himself as a conductor, Scanlan calls down lightning. He holds his concentration long enough, even as his skin smokes and boils from the inside out, to sweep the spell through the enemy’s front line. Then, it all goes black.
The enemy retreats, the storm subsides, and the first sight of sunlight through the clouds finds Pike on the battlements with Scanlan’s ruined, charred body in her arms.
In the aftermath, the druids secret Scanlan away deep underground to recover. It was only by a spark of the divine that he survived, but it will take old magic, far older than even the arcane that he wields, to heal his body.
Pike rarely leaves his side.
It takes nearly a month before he finally wakes. Laid bare across a stone table, only a sheet thrown across his lap to protect his dignity (though Scanlan will joke later that the effort was appreciated but fundamentally pointless), his conscious sharpness on Pike’s tearful face. His immediate response is to comfort her, to raise a shaky hand and wipe away her tears. Pike, just as immediate, bundles him up in her arms and squeezes him so tight that the surrounding druids all wince and make halted attempts to stop her.
Scanlan apologizes for leaving his post that day. He just – He couldn’t let anything happen to her. He’ll return to the spell as soon as he can, if they haven’t already found someone else.
Pike calls him stupid and impulsive and – Doesn’t he know? His spell worked. The royal family and the other afflicted were freed and waiting for them at the resolution of the battle. The crown wants to offer him a knighthood or title and a piece of land, as soon as he recovers, of course. Scanlan laughs. He didn’t do it for the accolades. Well, a little appreciation might be nice, maybe a fancy title to whip out at parties
but, nah, as long as he still gets to see her, he’s happy.
Scanlan realizes then that he’s naked. Well, except for that sheet that’s shifted greatly since Pike jumped into his arms. He cracks a joke about how he didn’t expect that this would be how Pike saw him naked for the first time.
Pike laughs – “Me neither!” – and kisses him.
Going forward, Pike returns to her position at the palace. While the King and Queen insist upon her receiving her due accolades and decorations, Pike is happiest when the festivities and celebrations subside, and life settles once more. Scanlan got his recognition – a title and a modest appointment at the castle where he can continue his arcane studies – but most nights still find him at the tavern, singing and dancing with his dear Pike.

DWTS AU as well - at which point does Pike make sense of her feelings for Scanlan and goes "okay. okay, it's him"? (and does Scanlan get the "oh. oh" instantly, or is it like in the campaign where he had to finally be her friend before falling in love with Pike as a person and not an ideal?)
Honestly it probably takes a while. They're hooking up before they even have the inkling of feelings. And when Scanlan does fall for her, he falls for what he thinks she is first. He falls for the persona she plays and the front she puts up.
The moment that he falls in love with the real Pike is during the week that Pike and Grog know they're going to be eliminated. They've been scraping by for a few weeks and everyone is progressing faster. So they just do the most fun, bat shit crazy choreography. And Scanlan is just watching her have so much fun dancing with her best friend and not worrying about scores or votes.
For Pike, she falls quietly for him. She knows that he has a lot going on so she keeps those feelings inside. But the moment for her is during a pro rehearsal. They're taking a break and there's just some random music playing. He comes over to her and without even asking just pulls her into a salsa. He's a strong lead and he knows her strengths and plays right to them.

Vox Machina: Apocalypse AU
Yup, another AU O<O (zombies plus inspiration from some aspects of the game the long dark aka it gettin cold)
Before the apocaypse began Vax had been hanging out with Keyleth, helping her get Minxie for the vet.
Both Trinket and Minxie are good at detecting Zombies if they are near by.
The group is rather fortunate due to the fact Pikes is a nurse, Vex a doctor, Vax an emt, and Percy an engineer/mechanic/inventor.
Keyleth is a meteorologist, due to her specific work she started to discover the weather all around the world was getting colder, prolonging winters, ect before the zombies happened.
When shit hit the fan and once they were all able to find each other everyone piled into Percys work van which luckily has the space for all of them plus one cat and one very large dog.
The only two who started out with weapons were Percy with his gun and Vax with a dagger he always carries around.
Due to not wanting to cause noise that can accidently cause people to get killed, Keyleth suggests they use their phones to email others instead of text or call due to most people not having sound on for those notifications. This leads to them learning both Whitestone and Zephrah are becoming safe citys/towns due to being able to prepare, lower population, and that they are further up north therefore colder which can slow down and even kill zombies if it’s extreme enough.
Wilhand and Korrin know each other and sometimes visit each other to chat, luckily Wihland was visiting Korrin when all this happened and is safe.
The Chroma Conclave are a group of people who rob, kill, and manipulate other survivors.
Allura, Kima, and Gilmore are still alive and keep in contact with Vox Machina via emails.
Kashaw and Zahra are also still alive and are also joining on in the email contact.
Keyleths health has never been the best and an unspoken fear everyone has is of her getting deathly ill while they are traveling.
Ironicly it’s Vax who first thinks of and bring up the idea of collecting seeds from garden stores and such in hopes of helping Whitestone and Zephrah keep a sustainable food source. (Though to be fair his first thought was how it might help cheer up Keyleth, meaning he also grabs a few flower seed packets even though they aren’t ‘useful’)
Zephrahs one main claim to fame is their ‘giant’ greenhouse. (hence how even tho it’s growing colder they can still grow food. Zephrah is also a self mantained town due to how small it is, meaning they still very much have power)
Cassandra leads the plans and organization/fortification of Whitestone, she messages Korrin a fair bit once Percy emails her in confirmation that Zephrah is safe too.
Scanlan is the one to find a bow for Vex while he and Grog went to scout a place out. Percy takes one the arrows they found to basicly study it in a sense and from there makes the rest of Vex’s arrows when their supplies from scavenging run low.
Keyleth very much knows how to make things explode and/or catch fire due to her love of the sciences.
When food gets scarcer Vex and Trinket start to go hunting which stresses the group out a little bit but with how cold it’s gotten at that point the only real threat is well the cold.
Scanlan will sometimes sing or hum a song to help everyone fall asleep.
Vex and Vax already knew how to syphon gas out of a car, this proves very helpful for the group when they have a car.
At some point their car gets destroyed in a run in with the conclave and at another point they can’t even use cars any more due to how cold it is.
Almost everything is a sensory hell for Keyleth, she is very thankful she has Minxie to help her calm down

Day 4 of @fanovember Coffee shop AU
Probably grammar mistakes. Pikelan. Scanlan tries to be smooth he just ends up being a bit weird as usual. Actually cute. Enjoy
4. Coffee Shop AU
Scanlan was having the most terrible of terrible days. The coffee machine had exploded in his face (again), the bathroom had flooded (again) and his boss appeared earlier to remind him he was an absolute failure that would never get out of that shithole and could never go anywhere with his music (again). Still, he was humming a cheerful tune to keep his good mood. It could be worse. He could be living under a bridge or have sold all his instruments. Not that he would, of course, he would rather lose a leg than one of his instruments.
“Uhm
Excuse me?” a voice dragged him back to the coffee shop. A beautiful voice that he could recognise anywhere.
“Oh, hi,” he awkwardly giggled, catching the mug he was drying just before it could fall. “Vanilla latte, almond milk and cinnamon with brown sugar?”
She chuckled back and Scanlan felt the day just got brighter. “Yes, please.”
“That would be five thirty, Pike, was it?”
She seemed surprised. “How would you know?” She asked while placing the money on the counter.
“I remember a pretty face’s order,” he winked. The girl shook her head, but Scanlan didn’t miss the soft smile on her lips. “I’ll bring it to you when it’s ready. Go get your seat, I’ve been keeping it warm for you” he smirked. Pike chuckled again and wen for her regular seat.
“Man, you need to stop doing that with everyone that steps in here.”
“Oh, shut up, Vax. This is different,” Scanlan said, getting everything ready
Vax scoffed. “Yeah, sure, you said the same thing last time.”
“Last time was before she came here. And she came back. That must mean something.”
“Maybe she likes coffee?”
“Coffee that I make,” pointed Scanlan, drawing a heart with the foam on Pike’s coffee.
“Whatever you say. But don’t invite her to tonight’s concert or you’ll scare her away.”
Scanlan carefully took the coffee to Pike. “Thanks,” she said.
“My pleasure. Uhm
listen, weird question.” Scanlan could hear Vax’s facepalm from there. “You see, I’m performing tonight at the Diamond Nest, I thought I would love to see you around.”
“Are you a singer?”
“Oh, I’m much more than that.”
Pike looked at him with an awkward smile after noticing the foam. “I’ll see if I can drop by.”
“Cool, I’ll sing you something,” he winked again and went back to the counter.
“Creepy bastard,” muttered Vax.

Ooo, how would Pikelan be in the Age of Arcanum AU?
!! That's a very good question! Sorry it took long to get to this, I really had to think on it. Thank you, anon! <3
Gnomes live a very, very long time.
Scanlan Shorthalt remembers a time before flying cities - gliding ones, thrown skyward by a burst of magic to slowly float down over the course of months, trajectory vulnerable to the whims of winds. He remembers the first face he saw broadcast in the sky - his own, singing songs at a great celebration. Most clear of all, he remembers the first time he met Pike Trickfoot - only some twenty, thirty years ago.
“I shouldn’t be surprised to see you here,” Pike says now, today, and Scanlan grins. Oh, she’s trying so hard to keep a straight face.
“What can I say? You’re my muse.” He would like to say he croons it, but the most godly thing in this godless city slaps him hard on the sternum and it comes out shrill. Settles into a sigh as the healing sets in, doing away with his massive, throbbing, debilitating hangover. “Oh, thank fuck. Thank you.”
“I think it’s a life of sin and debauchery that brings you to the temple,” Pike says.
The first few times she’s said that, it was with resentment.
Divine practitioners are not looked upon fondly in any of the flying cities. It’s still a better life to be above the clouds than below them - at least cloud nine is in reach, and maybe the gods are a little closer, too. But there’s a glass ceiling, scattering hopes against their peaks.
The best they can offer is healing, which even the best of warlocks, bards and wizards can’t quite match.
So that’s why Pike - divine Champion of her goddess, having spoken to her, brought the fist of mercy down upon foes - is relegated to being a sought-after doctor. Not for her skill, but the prestige of having her dispel the petty hurts of the big players. As much of a status symbol as the restaurant you ate at or which heralds were harking your agendas.
This is how it’s been since before Pike, and Scanlan isn’t sure he’ll be able to change much before he last lays eyes on her. She could, maybe, but not if it gets to her.
That’s where he comes in. Scanlan Shorthalt, bard, dealer of secrets older than your grandparents, dropping by with some minor ailment to book a few hours of her time and let her relax.
(Originally, he just wanted someone to listen. Even if he had to pay them. Even if they hated him. He’s not that man anymore. That’s why he’s sure she can change the world.)
It’s a play, oft-rehearsed, rarely performed, and Scanlan strives to play his part right. She’ll change the script when she’s ready. He doesn’t mind.
Or, wait, no, there actually was a reason he popped in, beyond the hangover.
Which. Okay. He’s good at ad-libbing. He can do this.
“So! Pikey. I
 kind
of have a kid, actually, and I almost slept with her - she’s not a kid-kid!! Like a grown kid. Adult! Legal! Still would be gross, though. Which! Yep! And if this breaks with the Herald that bastard Loquacious is going to have a field day -”
Her eyes bulge. Maybe he’s
really not as good as he thought.
