bootleg markings: a guide

aka i find this stuff fascinating and wanted to share my findings, but if you'd like to use it as a "what to definitely NOT buy for your personal collection" guide while browsing ebay listings then by all means go for it

i tried to choose the same molds for each category to show differences

PK CHINA

by far the most populous of the lot; these lil figures are the textbook garbo boots. they can be anywhere from "passable" to "jesus christ what the hell is that" with no rhyme or reason. clearly made to churn out in mass-produced bags of 24. from what i can tell, you can get anything from gen 1 - 6

R/L (C) CHINA

the second largest amount i've found. generally they're higher quality than pretty much all the other figures in terms of the mold alone, but the painting job is (usually) still terrible. sometimes they're passable tho. also up to gen 6

UNMARKED

there's nothing written on it anywhere. their origins (china) are a mystery. who even knows where they came from (it's china). could be legit for all we know (no they're from china). quality control is non-existent but they're roughly the same as the PK batches

PW CHINA

NOW we're getting into the interesting ones. i don't come across the PW bunch much, but when i do it's pretty much the same 10 or so molds in exclusively red, orange, and brown. idk what's going on with these ones but i find it so weird that there's a factory out there just churning out trapinch, hitmonchan, slowking, and darumaka. no pikachu even

CHINA

ah yes, the ones that look like they're made out of fruit roll-ups. they're generally squishy and malformed and feel about the same as they look. haven't found a single one that doesn't look like someone made it out of candle wax

POKEMON CHINA

the rarest ones, surprisingly. i've got maybe 10 in total that fall into this category and they're all different from each other. no dupes. the quality is the same as PK branded figures; usually they fall into the "alright i guess" category

R/L W 2005 (?), 2006, 2007

last but certainly not least: the figures that ACTUALLY could fool someone

good molds with lots of detail, acceptable paint jobs, and honestly? they smell like a regular-ass pokemon figure. an unsuspecting small child could easily believe these are legit and go their whole life not knowing they got sleezed

i've only ever found them in the gen 1 - 4 varieties (with gen 4 being the most rare, i've only found mantyke, buizel, and manaphy so far) which makes sense if the timestamp is to be believed. the dawn of the dppt era....truly a bygone time of "we actually tried to make something good"

i'm curious if there's an entire set that got made during gen 3 that was used as their base but finding info on old-ass pokemon figures isn't easy (please let me know if you know anything!!)

1.) whats your favorite thing in your room?

I mean TECHNICALLY it's gotta be my laptop, I use it constantly and love it. But for whatever reason my laptop doesn't really feel like it's "in" my room (even tho like...it is. I am in my room with it typing on it rn lol), cuz it doesn't have like, a set place. It's on my bed with me during the day and then legit I just put it on the ground at night cuz there's no room anywhere else haha.

SO that being said, my favorite thing that's actually like, a PART of my room, would either be my lava lamp, my pikachu plushie, or my squishmallow 😊

4. whats a rare fear that you have?

Honestly I feel like all my fears are pretty common? The main fears I can think of are the dark, ghosts, bees/wasps, rejection, being alone forever, and losing people I love...and none of those really seem rare tbh 🤷‍♀️

7. what was your favorite thing as a kid?

Favorite thing?? Like, EVER? Of ALL the foods and colors and tv shows and toys and activities etc etc, the MOST favorite? fkladsjfldasjf. Uhhh. Hmmm. Well, I got obsessed with Harry Potter around age 9 or 10, and that was obviously like, a HUGE part of my life for a really long time, so probably Harry Potter. I genuinely am struggling to remember what I liked when I was younger than that tho 🤷‍♀️😂

8. favorite coping mechanism?

......ngl it's weed 😂 I need to find something better, and I do genuinely want to try to take a break sometime soon cuz it's definitely not the best for me (also expensive af). But it's the ONLY thing that ever really works. Every other way of coping I've tried before just like...does not work. Well. Shoving everything down and distracting myself with tv or video games or disassociating can sometimes help a bit too. But not as well. And that's also not that healthy of a coping mechanism either 😂

9. whats your favorite love language?

Probably quality time? I just want someone to actually WANT to be around me, to talk to me, to do things together, etc. But also I'd say paying attention to the little details about me, cuz what I really want is for someone to REALLY know me and still like me anyway. And words of affirmation too for SURE. I am someone who CONSTANTLY needs to be reassured that everyone doesn't secretly hate me lol. So people telling me they care about me, telling me they appreciate me, telling me things they like about me, etc. is big for me too haha.

42. whats one thing you wanna do but havent yet?

How do I pick one? There's so many lol. Have sex, get married, travel internationally, visit a national park, write that original story idea I told you about, have a best friend, get actually good at drawing, learn a different language, win the lottery, the list goes on and on lol

54. whats your best hottake?

Hmmm. Well the first one that came to mind was that Chicago style deep dish pizza is the best kind of pizza (yes, better than new york style). And while there definitely ARE gonna be a TON of people who disagree on that (and I WILL maintain that they are WRONG), I kinda doubt y'all have Chicago style pizza over there? Sooo maybe not that one 😝

So then I thought "The 13th doctor was better than the 11th" but you already know that opinion of mine haha 😂

81. whats your least favorite animal?

Well if insects count as animals it's 100% frickin wasps. Honestly all of my most hated animals are insects lol. For a non-insect it'd probably be some sort of fish or ocean creature tbh, just not sure which one. But fish tend to freak me out a little

85. do you like soda?

Waaaaay too much lol. Like I actually have 3 cans of diet 7up on my bedside table rn 😂

would be so used to you being super talkative and fun that whenever you were both in public he was surprised by how scary you could look when not smiling. like he’d look over and see you zoning out bc you felt really uncomfortable around strangers and he’d be like “shoot i need to go talk to her before someone thinks she’s plotting murder” so he’d rush over and be like “whatta thinking about that makes you look so grim?” and you’d be like “oh i was just wondering if I should wash my clothes when I get home or wait until tomorrow” and he’d like blink--- and then shake his head wondering how you can be so different around strangers than you were when you were around ppl you were comfortable with. he likes to stay near you most as much as possible in public bc he knows it makes you more comfortable.

the first time you met he was like “oh she’s scary!!” and then his friend introduced you to each other and you became friends and then he completely forgot about ever thinking you were scary bc you were so talkative and silly around your friends. but then after you started dating you went out together and he left for a moment and you started to feel really uncomfortable around all the ppl there and so you stopped smiling and looking around with interested and just sat there with a serious face avoiding all eye contact and when he came back he had a flashback of first meeting you and was like “ummm hey” and you looked up and smiled and looked like your usual self that he was use to and he was like “you look mad scary when you’re not smiling” and you laugh and you’re like “I know. I mean, he sort of has an rbf too so you’ll would connect over that, like the first time you met you were at the library studying and you both looked so scary everyone avoided y’all so you started sitting at the same table so others could sit together away from y’all and then one day something funny happened and you both laughed and you both looked so pretty smiling that everyone in the library was like *mouth drops open* anyways, you and younghoon kinda start liking each other bc you’re always together at the library so you start dating and you’re so happy together you forget how scary you both look until you go out into public alone and look like murder is on your mind. You have a picture of each other smiling as your lock screens so you remember to smile and not scare ppl in public. 

Hyunjae:

he’d tease you a lot lol. he knew you for a long time so he kinda got used to your rbf when you were around unfamiliar ppl so he teases you so you smile and look cute again. and he knows you could talk for hours once you're around ppl you like, and he loves that more than anything. he actually realized he was in love with you while watching you zone out across the room. like he always thought “where would this girl be without me” and then suddenly he was like “wait--- i need her more than she needs me” but he just loves seeing you looking all scary in public and ppl lowkey being afraid of you and so you approaches you all coolly and is like “YAH!!” right in front of your face and everyone is like “this dude is gonna get socked in the nose for that” and then you just smile and he’s like “yes. mission accomplished” and everyone’s like “hold on she looks really friendly when she’s smiling!” but they never get a chance to talk with you once hyunjae is around bc he keeps you all to himself knowing you feel more  comfortable and happy that way and he loves listening to you talk.

Juyeon:

legit thought you hated him at first and was like “shoot i made this girl hate me and idek what i did” and then one of your friends walks up and you start smiling and he’s like “oh. that girl is beautiful! and she looks really friendly once she smiles” so he tries to get to know you and you instantly like him so you begin talking freely with him and he’s like so whipped for you whenever you smile which is often when you’re talking. so he just listens and listens while you go on and on. and he just loves that he won your trust. he wonders how he could ever think you were scary until you’re left in the corner of the room by yourself and you feel afraid around a lot of strangers so you stop smiling and talking and avoid ppl and he’s like “sjkfjskdksjdkjksjdk I need to go talk be with her rn so she’s happy again” and basically that’s how you start dating. while you guys are dating it’s pretty much the same thing-- he loves listening to you talk and he loves more than anything that you’re comfortable around him.

Kevin:

you were at the library and you zoned out and you were staring all scarily in the same direction kevin was sitting in and he *that meme of the kid holding the cup and who keeps looking sideways at the camera* like he really thinks you’re gonna approach him about something he never did. so he goes over to you and he’s like “are you ok?” and you jerk out of your daydream to see this really cute guy looking at you worriedly and slightly scared and you’re like “ohhh ummm yeahhh why do you aks tho???” and you smile a little bc gosh he’s cute and he’s like “gosh she’s cute” and he’s like “oh nothin” and uses a cheesy pickup line to get your number and you start dating/ become bffs and he lowkey loves that you look so scary when you’re around other ppl but then open up like a flower in the sunshine with him and you and him laugh and talk like there’s no tomorrow whenever you’re together bc you’re both pretty talkative. y’all are inseparable! but like he picks up the habit of looking scary and avoiding eye contact with ppl bc of you and his friends are like “?????” but he doesn't even realize how much he’s been influenced by you. 

Chanhee:

he meets you through mutual friends and they warn him like “yeahhh she looks really scary around ppl she doesn’t know but be warned, she’s SUPER talkative once you get to know her” and chanhee’s like “scary around ppl you don’t know? a girl after my own heart” and so you immediately click like---yeahh bffs! you both look scary in public tbh, but when you’re alone you just talk and talk and he just listens with heart eyes bc he loves listening. and you always look so happy when you’re with him or your friends and he’s just like “ahhhhhhh she’s so cute!!!” even when you look like you want to murder someone out in public. you’ll both just glare at ppl together when out in public sometimes even though you’re happy together, just to annoy your friends lol. chanhee never judges you or forces you to talk with ppl when you’re feeling uncomfortable. he 100% understands and instead of saying things like “you should just tryyyy to talk to someone new!!!” he’d be like “what? you’re feeling uncomfortable? mmkay, let’s go...rn!” and y’all would leave-- doesn’t even matter where you were at.

Changmin:

would be like “??????” the first time you felt comfortable enough around him to open up. he thought your gloomy face and quiet personality was who you always were and he was starting to fall in love with that part of you when you burst open like the sunshine and just talked and laughed freely. and then you’re like “oh,,, i’m sorry. did i startle you?” and he’d be like *shocked pikachu face* “oh my goodness no! your laugh is ADORABLE!!!!” and then he’d constantly do things to make you smile and laugh and bring up topics he knew you could talk about for days bc he’s just so in love with you. every part of your personality is endearing to him. he’d tease you after you’d been dating for a while and he knew the limit to which he could tease you without going too far. he’d pretend not to know you and look all scared if he ”happened” to end up standing next to you and like jokingly make a “help me” face to his friends and then someone would notice and start to walk up to him to rescue him from the scary quiet girl and then he’d start laughing and hold your hand while you rolled your eyes.

Haknyeon:

confused. how could you be so different around strangers than when you were with him? even with your friends your social battery would run out soon. but when you were with him?? you had no limit to your energy and excitement and you showed your happiness so easily to him whereas with others you looked scared and skeptical even if you were happy. he worried about you a lot at the beginning of your relationship,,, like you’d be standing there zoning out, not talking to anyone, and he’d be like “gosh, is she ok???? did someone say something upsetting to her????? did she receive bad news????” and he’d rush over to you as soon as he could whenever he saw you starting to look abandoned and sad out in public. after dating for a while you learned to just constantly hang on to his arm bc he protected you from strangers trying to converse with you. when you two were alone you both talked a lot but you laughed even more, like you would have deep meaningful conversations and then just switch to telling the lamest jokes and rolling on the floor dying with laughter and then he’d just look at you while you were smiling and wiping away tears from laughing and he’d smile thinking he was the luckiest guy in the world to have you--- all to himself!

Sunwoo:

wouldn’t even be surprised the first time you hung out together and you really opened up. like he could tell there was a lot more to you than your quietness and rbf. when you first started dating some ppl that knew you both would be like “she looks scary af. what if she’s really boring and like,,, mean??” and he’d *cue the tongue in the cheek thing* “shut up”. once you two were dating for a while he would get so used to your talkative bright personality that when ppl are like “ohhh! you’re dating y/n! the really quiet girl?” he’d be like “who tf are you talking about! I’m dating y/n” and they’d be like *confusion*. he knows your quiet personality in public is a part of who you are and he respects that, but like he doesn’t really even remember that part of you, bc most of your time together is spent alone and he knows that’s when you’re most comfortable and your true self. absolutely HATES when ppl misunderstand you and then hold that against you. you don’t really care but he gets really protective over you.

Eric:

would think it was SO cute! he would coo and tease you gently when you were in public together making you crack a smile. when you started dating and he saw that you matched his energy he would be ecstatic! like he could not wait until you were home and in your comfort zone so you could be crazy together and laugh and talk for hours. sometimes in public old ladies would be like “deary,, you must remember to smile sometimes for your pretty bf here” and Eric would be like “????” “she does, but only when we’re alone” and then he would like flirtatiously smile at you causing you to blush and causing the old lady to feel kinda uncomfortable (as she should) literally does not phase him at all that you’re so different around strangers. like he doesn’t understand it, but he doesn’t think it’s weird either. if you’re standing there like “ughhh i hate ppl” written all over your face you’ll just smile to himself bc yeahh he just thinks it’s cute that you’re that way (idek) and then when someone tries to talk with you and he’s around he’ll swoop over and be like “hi. Bnha Marriage Headcanons

KIRIBAKU

- KiriBaku got married first no I will not change my mind

-Baku wanted to get it done right after they graduated so 1, they can be married before they really get into hero work and risk death and 2, they can focus on their work since they married already

-the thing is; they had no celebration

-they just went to a courthouse one day and signed the papers and boom they're done

-(jirou and shinsou were the witnesses since they can keep secrets)

-and no-one really said anything about it

-Bakugou just said to Kiri after a date (while they were still third-years) and was like

- "Let's get married"

-and Kiri was so shocked he was just like "oh ok sure"

-bakugou did not appreciate that

-"WHO SAYS 'OK SURE' TO A PROPOSAL???"

-"THAT WAS BARELY A PROPOSAL KATSUKI YOU DIDN'T EVEN HAVE A RING"

-they were married for 12+ years before they had a ceremony

-it was pretty epic ngl

-lots of red and gold and dragon-esque imagery because that stuff is rad

-wedding armour? I say yes

-bakugou threw the bouquet straight into Deku's face

-"KACCHAN I'M ALREADY MARRIED"

-Inko would've gotten into a fist-fight with Shouto if he didn't let her help pay for anything

-and said fight almost happened

-they ended up compromising and she helped pay for Izuku's suit

-All Might mostly happy-cried the entire time (he was Izuku's best man)

-endeavor? Whose he? We don't know him. He don't get to show. This is an Emdeavor-free zone

-Shouto started crying during the vows, and his best man (Bakugou) had to read them for him

-it was funny

-since the #1 pro hero was getting married, it was a huge deal for the media

-think the royal wedding levels of huge

-the wedding was just for family and friends tho

-so the paparazzi can suck it

-Shouto took Izuku's last name (because SCREW Endeavor)

TSUYURAKA

- Tsu proposed a week or two after the TodoDeku wedding

-She'd been planning it for months her friends' wedding just so happen to have occured beforehand

-they were very efficient about planning the wedding tho so they were only engaged for like a few months (3-4)

-the wedding was magical

-nature Flowers FROGS

-you can bet your ass it was Princess and the Frog themed

-"they put chemicals in the water that turned the freaking frogs gay"

-they decided to not take each others' last names they just vibed with their own

-Urarake was DEFINITELY a bridezilla

-but like

-a badass bridezilla

-but she turned into a marshmallow during the actual ceremony

-she did better than Shouto tho

-she was able to actually say her vows

-the whole thing was super sweet

-the reception tho

-the reception was lit

-they totally had a preplanned first dance as wives

-and it was awesome

-Momo caught the bouquet

-Lesbian Luck if I may

-it was the ultimate Gal Pal ceremony

SHINKAMISERO

-it was an amazing mess from the beginning

-Sero proposed to his boyfs on their dating anneversary

-but it turns out

-Shinsou had the same exact idea

-(Kami hadn't really thought of it)

-so that was pretty fun for Kami, being proposed to by both of his boyfriends that day

-They got married before TodoDeku, but they weren't the first (not counting Kiribaku)

-Sero was just happy to be getting married, so he wasn't much help during planning

-Kaminari was the control-freak, surprisingly

-he just really wanted to have an amazing wedding don't judge this poor hopeless romantic

-shinsou just asked questions like "so when the priest guy says 'you may now kiss the grooms' how are we gonna kiss? There's three of us"

-Shinsou also almost forgot to get a suit

-he only got his suit like 2 weeks before the wedding date

-dont tell Kami, but the wedding was low-key kinda basic

-(oh except for the fireworks)

-but it was still amazing

-Eri was the flower girl and ring bearer

-I know she's like 11 at this point but hush she deserves this

-there were little pikachu cookies at the reception

-they were a hit

-since this is a poly wedding there were some complications

-there were 3 first dances as husbands

-3 sets of groomsmen (do they even have that many friends among the 3 of them?)

-there were some roadbumps

-but did they care?

-no

-they all joined the Sero club and were just happy to be married

-they decided to be ~unique~ and they made an amalgamation of their last names

- Shin-ar-o (Shin from Hitoshi, Ar from Denki, O from Hanta)

-So they all have the last name Shinaro now

-their first kid was born 9 months after their honeymoon

-sooooo 👀

AOMINA

-Second to be married with a ceremony (Mina was almost disappointed)

-Mina proposed since Aoyama is mr. No balls

-he did buy her a ring that matched his engagement ring

-the wedding itself was very extra

-mina almost got cancelled because "her dress was sparklier than her husband"

-theme? No. Just sparkle

-Aoyama had really long vows that was generously seasoned with healthy doses of French

-Mina expected this and so her vows were pretty short

-Their reception was wild

-no children allowed

-it was an epic rave and they had a pretty fantastic time

-Mina and Aoyama actually spent a crap load of time planning the wedding

-they were fiances for almost 8 months

-since Aoyama is a low-key attention slut, the media was allowed to be involved

-(mostly everyone else with their weddings didn't really want the media to be involved)

-so they did a lot of interviews about the planning process and who they were hiring and who was involved and the whole shebang

-they legit had fun with it

-legally, Mina took Yuuga's last name, but everyone still uses Ashido (she wanted them to)

-Yuuga got drunk at the reception and proceeded to cry the rest of the night and ramble about how happy he was

-(Mina also got drunk but instead she danced on a table then proceed to pass out)

HAGOJIROU

-they were the first to be married with a ceremony

-Ojirou proposed a few months after they graduated

-there were many botched proposal attempts before that

-but it worked out in the end

-PASTEL WEDDING PASTEL WEDDING

-Hagakure's dress made her look like a cupcake it was pretty fantastic

-Ojirou said 'Naw' to a black suit so he really rolled up in a baby blue suit

-slay king

-there was tons of cloud/sky imagery since that sounds super cute

-since Hagakure's dress was so poofy, she had a black swan moment during the reception and changed into a black dress more suited for dancing and general partying

-although they were the first wedding, they still had the biggest cake, to this day

-surprisingly, neither of them cried during the vows

-Ojirou did get pretty misty-eyed tho

-Hagakure will say she didn't cry but it's not like anyone can prove her wrong

-Tooru took Mashirao's last name

-Tooru Ojirou <3

-(Tooru was already pregnant when they got engaged but shhhhh don't tell nobody)

MOMOJIROU

-GAL PALS GAL PALS GAL PALS GAL PALS

-they were one of the last to get married in the first group (like, there was a large group of people who all got engaged at once, and Momojirou was one of the last ones)

-Momo proposed but you know what that means

-the most extra engagement ring ever

-it was black and purple and amazing

-Jirou was a tad overwhelmed by it (but she still loves it)

-She has a plainer ring she wears out and about, she only wears the super fancy one during events

-VICTORIAN WEDDING LET'S GOOOO

-it was also space themed and super pretty

-not nearly the most extra wedding, but certainly quite extra

-Jirou cried a lot

-Momo did a lot of pleased smiling

-it was real sweet

-their reception was elegant and amazing

-their first dance was AMAZING and heartwarming and just real sweet

-Momo just wanted to keep becoming more extra and more extra and even MORE extra

-Jirou had to reign her in a lot

-the venue and catering and all that stuff was lovely and expensive

-(which almost gave Jirou a stroke)

-Momo just wanted the best for her gal pal

-btw the gal pal joke was carried through the whole wedding

-it even said it on the invite

-"You have been formally invited to the Gal Pal wedding of Kyouka Jirou and Momo Yaoyarozu"

-Jirou took on the Yaoyarozu last name because idk she felt like it

He legit gets the most shit out of everyone else. Because of his hairstyle, his unlikable personality and his past. Maybe something else too.

He’d usually tell these people off, but you somehow managed to beat him to it by… from what he assumes, banishing them to the fourth dimension.

I mean, he’s pretty shocked. Like, what do you expect? Your partner, who you thought was just a regular human, came out with these God-like powers to tell someone to go away.

He doesn’t exactly know what to say, like he doesn’t want to do something that’ll pissed you off. Since he does that pretty easily with anyone.

So that’s probably when you explained everything to him, which did answer a few of his questions. And now he’s pretty intrigued by your bullshit.

Ash was basically born as a mage—most humans don’t have any magic at all, so it was a sort of rare thing 🤔 And yes it connects to his aura powers! Ofc he doesn’t really discover those until he travels through Hoenn and meets Lucario. They’re basically tradeoffs; Ash’s magic strengthens his aura and vice versa.

Naturally Ash wasn’t very good at using magic at first and wasn’t super fond of studying it since he’s more of a hands on learner lol. (Gary teased him a LOT for this.) But since Ash was a kid he’s had a knack for connecting with Pokemon, even the stubborn ones, and gains a reputation in Pallet Town for being the local Pokemon tamer. It helps that he has that sort of personality that’s very easy to make friends with.

His first encounter with Pikachu goes pretty much like it does in canon; the difference is that Pikachu doesn’t trust people who can use magic or mythical creatures—hence his initial hatred of Ash. But Ash is able to earn Pikachu’s trust!! So yeah he still acts as Ash’s main traveling companion.

Ash doesn’t openly use his magic a lot tho, only for when the situation really calls for it or when he’s trying to connect with a Pokemon. The same goes for his aura. Most of the time he just uses it to heighten his own senses, so he can tell what’s going on with other people and Pokemon around him. Sort of like hyper empathy? And he uses it for simple, daily tasks, like doing the dishes or making things float lol. He initially started his journey to get a better handle on his magic and learn more about Pokemon, but he developed a passion for battling instead, and devotes his time to that! He’s also fascinated by other mythical creatures—Pallet is a small town so he didn’t really get to meet a lot of unique creatures as a kid, so being able to travel the world and meet lots of different supernatural beings is a total blast for him!

Ash has tried using his magic to open portals to other worlds before, but he’s nowhere near strong enough to do it;; but in theory he could, if he were given a big enough power boost.

As for the rest—I honestly haven’t dug too deep yet, but I do have some background info on Gladion 👀

Vampires are very rare to begin with, and very reclusive. Vampires in Alola are unheard of, because it’s always sunny and warm there, and vampires prefer cooler temperatures and areas where the weather is usually overcast. Most of them live in the mountains of Sinnoh and Unova.

Ofc Gladion couldn’t really move away from Alola to some place colder, being so young, and with Lusamine being...how she is, so he learns over the years to cope with the heat and the sun. (He didn’t want to just leave Lillie behind like that, either.) He eventually finds an abandoned cabin at the base of Mount Lanakila and shelters there. This is where Ash visits him most of the time, especially since he never comes out during the day c: So this does mean that Ash hauls ass to Ula’ula Island to see him...that or he uses his magic to teleport over lmao

Contrary to popular belief and general vampire lore, they can be out in the sun, it’s just extremely blinding. Like they legit cannot see shit in the daytime, the light gives them splitting headaches and makes them extremely drowsy. (And it does burn, a little, so if they do have some reason to be out during the day they have to wear protective clothing.)

Gladion usually orders his blood online LOL I know that sounds weird but it’s not like he goes out and actually feeds on people, especially since he’s so anti-social to begin with and has massive trust issues. Vampire feeding is an enormous commitment and sharing of trust (and also very intimate), and he wouldn’t just go and suck blood from somebody randomly...so yes he does have to get batches delivered to him to keep him sated. Originally at Aether there was always a fridge stocked with blood for him, but since he left home he’s basically just been using his allowance and battle winnings to get his supply.

Since vampires also have a very keen sense of smell Gladion’s nose is very sensitive;; and since most mythical creatures are drawn to magic, he’s naturally drawn to Ash as well, who has a very wonderful scent to him. Gladion is afraid to be around Ash sometimes because of how openly reckless Ash is, and he fears that if Ash were to get into an accident that would spill blood, he wouldn’t be able to control himself around Ash and possibly attack him :’(

Still, Ash is one of the few people Gladion trusts completely, and who knows where his current hideout is. Since Ash hasn’t met a lot of vampires during his travels due to their rarity and general reclusiveness, he’s fascinated by Gladion and always drops by to battle and then pester him with questions about his lifestyle. (Also, he likes stopping by during the day sometimes, because rumpled sleepy Gladion is ADORABLE and a sight not a lot of people have the privilege of seeing.)

Yeah sometimes Hal’s general unfearlessnes is actually quite scary, I mean if he scared for him if he was like..a real friend. But in a character sense I do think it’s fun to compare that, once again, to Kyle who was pretty dang afraid of shit but leaped anyway. One has no perception of it so does not register it, while the other has perception but goes anyway. That’s a bit of an oversimplification but idk it’s very intesting in a meta sense because if you really don’t have a perception of something when it bites you in the ass like with Hal and Parallax, it bites hard. Idk if that makes sense but it’s like...yeah

God conn and Kyle are so funny, but like for superheroes their friendship seems very...idk? Legitimate and like (real-ish) like so many friendships I have are like that where it’s like in-depth discussion on some kind of deep topic then haha funny meme. Really, I think it’s fair to say Kyle is Conn’s Maniac Pixie boy if I’m being honest. Like random hot dude shows up and is emotionally avilable and pretty and sweet, yeah not a bad catch for a first relationship (he legit falls out of the sky).

Also I will always narc on Kyle for being *surprise pikachu* at his parentage when in relaity it’s very obvious. Kyle does give the vibe of someone who really loves nature but also enjoys the hum drum of city life as well, he really couldnt pick. That is the difference between Hal and the others tho. He doesn’t see a bad idea or a stupid dangerous stunt he sees a way to win and goes for it. Kyle is like welp this will probably kill me but here we go anyways. Parallax was a massive retcon that sort of never made sense because Parallax!Hal wasn’t scared. he was angry and he was mourning but he wasn’t scared so whatever. but yes say the fear entity did get into him well Hal’s never fought fear like that before. (Not to say Hal hasn’t been scared but that’s more in the moment panic. His dad dying, Barry being in danger etc) It doesn’t last. That’s why I genuinely hate them trying to give Hal fear because it made him unique. he wasn’t putting on airs or being arrogant it was something uniquely Hal. 

Honestly Conn and Kyle have one of the purest relationships to me. Like it was built on the past of Hal and Ollie but became so much deeper in that they had so much in common and Kyle told things to Conn he admits he’s never told anyone else not even his girlfriends so. Just their friendship I love it and I miss it and I’m angry every day about it. 

Oh my god like okay they don’t draw Kyle with particularly tan skin but pssh they white wash Conn just fine and he’s very dark skinned so I’m ignoring that. But even consider Kyle’s eyes are naturally brown (the rings turn their eyes green you see it with John too it’s very sexy of DC to give us that) and his hair is black. Buddy, baby, darling how could you have thought you were totally Irish.

The battle itself didn’t wake any super strong feelings in me. Grapploct is super savage and I was legit feeling a bit disturbed during the pikachu battle but, aside from the ending result (which I wasn’t expecting tbh but it was probably better than Ash just straight out winning), well, I don’t even remember much anymore. I did like that we saw a bit softer side of Bea tho towards the end; aside from the tiny Bayleef flashback (I hope everyone and also their pokémon know that Bayleef is one of my favorite anime ‘mons and I would have squealed at seeing her if I hadn’t seen some spoilers about that said scene) my favorite part must have been pikachu and riolu getting food from her. Also, even tho I don’t care about Go’s goal, I’m ngl the part with Ash having to wait him catch the chinchou was pretty funny :D

* for all his grumpy behaviour, Kanda can actually read people quite well ( he just doesn’t do it because he doesn’t want to )

* He’s notices that he’s never heard you speak – but perhaps he was just preoccupied or something. He doesn’t really realize you’re mute until he sees you angrily signing at a laughing Lavi – the usagi doubling over with laughter as you puffed your cheeks

* that was probably the moment he realizes “oh shit I love them????” because in the next second, he finds himself towering over Lavi and asking what the hell was so funny

* Sometimes he gets too flustered to look you in the eye – so that you can lip-read easier (even tho he knows you can hear him) – and he just ends up covering his face because it’s too much fhbsdghfjsdg-

* He absolutely adores when you make little sounds unintentionally while “speaking” to someone and the laughter that slips from your lips when people say something amusing

* Kanda, this dumbass, probably knows a couple of things in sign language but he rarely uses it because he feels so clumsy with his hands (it also doesn’t help that you laugh at his mess ups because you find it cute; the man’s heart is weak!!! Leave him alone!!!)
