Pikachu, being the mascot of Pokemon, has hands down the largest selection of uncanny valley bootlegs out there. I collect these abominations, and felt like Tumblr would enjoy seeing some from the plush section.

I'm sure many from my collection would count as mirage plushies. I want to show what I'd consider to be the five most weird or nightmare fuel bootleg Pikachu plushies I own:

These three can be still seen as somewhat normal? In the middle we have an average disturbing bootleg chu. On right, a rabbit Pikachu hybrid (and I might have a bigger one somewhere). On left though, is a walking and talking Pikachu that plays an instrumental of London Bridge is Falling Down.

Then there's uh. Pikachu in drugs, yeah that's what it is. Shaped like a normal Pikachu, but his face is anything but normal.

AND OKAY DEAR GOD I CAN NOT SAY ENOUGH HOW CURSED THIS ONE IS. A BOXING PIKACHU, WITH HEART CHEEKS, CAT EARS AND AN ORANGUTANGS FACE. His tush tag is basic safety warnings in greek, Grece why.

Kicking it off strong with my son, my love, my muse. A mirage pikachu plushie that I’ve named Grumble. His cheeks are pink and his ears are brown.

He’s from a UK company that’s pretty much untraceable - definitely an arcade prize from the 90s/ 2000s. Last image is him compared to a 90s Play by Play pikachu :)

[mirage plushies: mostly official Pokémon plushies from the late 90s/ early 2000s where Nintendo would hand out licenses to pretty much any company. Most are either from Taiwan or small European countries. They are called mirages as there’s a good chance the one you find is the only one documented!]
