Would it be interesting if Warhammer 40,000 did a take on Battletech's Clan Invasion? Humans that left the galaxy back during the Dark Age of Technology and missed the Birth of Slannesh and subsequent Age of Strife now find their way back to the Milky Way, and steamroll anyone they meet because they have Necron-level tech, up until their unexpected weakness is discovered (vulnerability to Chaos maybe)?
