We also recorded one with her memorizing the piece - it’s actually the first piece she performed with memory 💛💚 Super happy with her recent progress! . This is one of the very few Christmases I didn’t have anything planned with family and loved ones due to my recent separation from my previous relationship. I moved out of our flat together and have been staying with a friend who is kindly sharing her space with me until I leave Shanghai in the end of January. . It’s funny because I always feel more connected to Christmas than lunar new year although I was born in Taiwan. I used to celebrate it with my parents and the church I used to attend as a kid. After I moved to the states at 14. Later, I spent the holiday with the families of the people I was dating. Well, nevertheless, it’s still my favorite holiday, and I will continue to look forward to the season every year 💚💛 . China actually began to crack down schools that celebrate western holidays this year. A dear friend is teaching at a school down in Guangzhou, and apparently, the school took down all the decorations a few days after they put it up, and all the Christmas lesson plans had to be changed to winter lesson, and no #christmascelebration can take place in public. Christmas consumerism is totally fine though, just obviously, Chinese kids aren’t supposed to learn about traditions other than their own. .
