Fire(works) and Water

After watching fireworks with Pia for a while, Leia told her she had something to do for the rest of the show. She parted ways with her friend to meet up with her friend and neighbor, Raven. Leia was really excited to her, not that she wasn’t excited to see Pia. It’s just that Leia didn’t see her red-headed friend from school as often as she’d like.

Away from the crowds and away from any wandering eyes, Leia soared through the water to the discreet location she hand picked. Past the point the land people would go, a burst of green out of the water where the sand turned to stone.

Leia was afraid she was late, but there was no sight of Raven. Maybe she forgot...or she didn’t didn’t see the note I slipped under her door...or she did and she ignored it. Her head continued to fill with thoughts of worry as she waited, crossing her arms over a large rock and resting her head on them.

Taking stock was one of the more boring jobs at Leuda Mining Company, but it was an expected activity at any store. When she had applied for the job, she had told Evelyn she would be most comfortable collecting ore in the mines to sell in the shop. But it turned out that this was most people’s preference, so from time to time, she had to sacrifice her time to complete the more basic errands that came with a store. 

Scribbling down a tally of copper ores on her clipboard, Lily kicked the cardboard box containing them to the side and sighed. Fascinating work. Additionally, she was on shift with a girl called Raven who spoke very little. She reminded Lily a little of Jake but female; they had similar blunt and sometimes rude personalities. But Raven didn’t seem to mind taking stock. She’d announced that she would take stock of the gems, so Lily had the ores by default. The room was silent and the work was dull, so the black-haired woman attempted to make conversation to pass the time.

“This is exactly what I signed up for when I applied for this job,” she said sarcastically, beginning to sift through the iron ore. “The mining is okay, but it was the taking stock I was really excited for.”

—➤ Being a worker at the arena and member of the guild, The Steel Edge’s Blacksmith’s was a place the undercover solider often found herself visiting. The quality of their weapons were high (though they certainly paled in comparison to anything the Empire made), and so she often found herself relying on their products. 

The ringing of a bell can be heard as she pushes the door open, clogging heat and a metallic smell greeting her as she does. Always one to get straight to the point, Lynette walks across the room to the front counter, stating her business before the person at the cashier can even think to ask.

“I want you to show me some of your best swords. Daggers too, if you have them in.” The person at the counter today seemed to be one she recognized-- Raven, an elven woman she occasionally sparred with. She was a talented fighter, though in Lynette’s view, her skills could certainly use some refining. “And don’t bother with recommending anything. I want to judge their quality for myself.”

[BTTP] Fish Out of Water

Her first day of school! Leia was so excited but scared. So extremely scared. Everything was so completely new! Land school was nothing like the school Leia knew. There were so many students and such a huge building! How would she find her class? Why did she agree to do this?

Leia successfully got lost in the crowded hallway and quickly found herself alone. Everything was moving so fast! She couldn’t keep up. I can’t do this. I can’t do this. A red curtain of hair appeared like a light at the end of the tunnel.

A tall girl with long, red hair in all black appeared from around a corner and started walking in the direction opposite Leia. Woah, she looks cool! Maybe she can help me. Leia ran to catch up to the redhead, trying not to trip. She was still pretty new to walking, afterall.

“Excuse me, Miss? Do you know where I can find room 104?” The girl either couldn’t hear Leia or was ignoring her. Leia chose to disregard the latter. She probably just didn’t hear her.

“Miss! Hello???” Why isn’t she answering? Maybe she can’t hear. Leia decided to try a different approach and placed her hand on the girl’s shoulder.

Leia closed the door to the supply closet behind her just as she fell to the ground. Just moments before, she was splashed with water. This was the second time this had happened this week. 

Now she was lying on the floor, hoping no one would come in. With such little space, Leia had to lean against the wall. She sighed and waited. Hopefully it wouldn’t take long for her legs to return. Her boss would not be happy with another sudden disappearance. 

Hearing footsteps draw nearer, Leia looked around desperately for something that could help. Leia grabbed a mop without thinking about what she would even use it for when the door cracked open.

She let out a big sigh of relief when she recognized the redhead in front of her. “Close the door!” Leia whispered in a panicked voice, looking behind Raven to see if anyone was watching.
